I visited the Santee In-N-Out on March 7 at 5:06 pm. My 17-month old has severe allergies to egg. While ordering, I told the Cashier Victoria of my daughter's severe egg allergy and she noted it in the order and said new gloves and bags would be used. However, when I received my food, all of the food came mixed together in 1 bag. The allergy-marked food was mixed in the same bag as the normal food (with egg ingredients). I identified this concern to the employee who gave me my food and my concern was dismissed as a joke. I reiterated the severity of the egg allergy of my 17-month and they re-made the allergy-free items on the spot. I wanted to bring this concern to your attention so you can address the workflow for allergy-related orders at all In-N-Out locations. Went for my burger fix. I had a bit of trouble communicating my in-restaurant order. I ordered a "number 3 with spread and grilled onions." The counter gal asked if "I wanted cheese on it." This question should have alerted me to a potential problem as that's a number 2, not a 3. Then I asked for my cup and she looked bewildered. She gave me my cup and a few minutes later, I went back to her and asked if there was fries with my order as the price seemed to be about $1.50 less than expected. I told her I'd be happy to buy an order of fries but she comped them. I asked how I could have better ordered a "number 3" as I pointed up at the menu board above her head. Again, deer in the headlights look. When my order arrived, at my table, I saw the problem: my box had french fries and a burger--with three meat patties. A triple, not a number 3. I had to remove 2 patties (dietary restrictions) scraping as much sauce and onions onto the remaining burger. The burger was decent, if a bit of a wreck. The fries were fantastic and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend the training manager teach counter staff the difference between a number 3 and a triple burger. I got to say this is a super cool In and Out. Not only are the lines short compared to my local In and Out but customer service is awesome. First time BLOWN ORDER... I've been eating In and Out burgers since I was a teen, so at least 50 years. For the first time I had a wrong order. Ordered #1 and a #2 with no onions and they left the onions off the #1 also. I tell my wife that no one listens anymore, Now it has infected In and Out Urge. Great food. But the way they operate the line for the drive thru makes no sense. They have what the chick-fil-a does right next to it but don't operate it right. I went on the side that had the cashier/person taking the orders. And my place in line was cut because he switched to the other side where no cars were because the whole line was on the side I was in. Others respecting that people were there before them. Then a car cuts off like 5 of us who were in that line, and the cashier decides that it's okay and cuts all of us off to take this person order. If y'all are going to have two different lines like that, then have two different people outside taking orders!!! That's how chickfila operates it. And no one gets cut off. I normally don't have a problem here. Once in a while we get an "ok" batch of fries that have a few crunchy ones, burgers have been correct each time and good. But idk what it was about last night, but it was completely off the norm! We ordered there later than we normally do, at 10pm (it's summertime lol). We ordered 2 regular fries and 1 animal fry...(they gave them all to us in one big covered box which was the 1st weird thing, we have never been given it packaged like that. Usually in a bag). We didn't check the order till we got home to eat. ALL 3 of the fry orders were EXTREMELY over cooked, super hard and crunchy (more like fry chips!)! I can't believe they even handed it out like that! It was clearly overdone before we even tried them. Even the animal fries were the same, which is even worse. I had already threw mine away, pics were my kids' fries. They didn't eat much of them either, all got thrown in the trash. My burger was also very bland, no flavor at all. Who doesn't love In N Out?! Delicious fresh burgers, hand cut fries (that are fried in sunflower oil for those with allergies) and Neapolitan shakes!! The drive they line can get pretty long depending on the time of day but does move quickly. Especially when they have their peeps moving down the car line taking orders. I absolutely love In-N-Out Burger... all of them. They have a small, simple menu and that is why they are able to make great, quality food and fast. I don't think I've ever been to one of their locations and not seen a long line in the drive thru and I mean ridiculously long! But they seem to have mastered serving tons of people quickly. The food is always hot and delicious. The fries could be better but I'm glad I don't love them... it keeps me from eating a lot of them. They are freshly cut and cooked onsite. i ordered 3 burgers with extra spread only, and i was handed 3 burgers with extra spread, lettuce, tomato, and onions. which yk it happens, mistakes happen. i asked for it to be fixed, and they proceeded to scrape off all the spread while taking the tomato out, and then handed me my spreadless burgers with tomato and onion. so my 3 burgers with extra spread only, turned into 3 burgers with lettuce and onion only. did i mention i got a allergic reaction from the tomato juice that was left? Santee is moving on up in the food world. First a Phils BBQ and now In-N-Out. Can life get any better for a large man who loves to eat? I think not! Heard that this was opening today so after the gym (counter productive I know) I decided to head over and grab a burger. I thought it would be chaos like when Sonic opened but it was not. The parking lot is well designed and there was not a cluster of stuff going on. Once Chick Fil A opens, that might change...but until then, smooth sailing. I pull up to the drive thru and spot a familiar car in front of me. It was my father in law Ron! Great minds think alike LOL. I honked and we chatted out our windows for a minute and then he pulled up to order his food. Being the awesome dad that he is, he even paid for my meal! I went with my usual order of a Double Double no tomato with both kinds of onions. If you haven't had an In-N-Out burger with the grilled onions, you are missing out. I got some fries and a large Coke too. It was awesome to drive up to the window, pretend to open my wallet but not have to and then go to the 2nd window to pick up my food. We decided to eat together in our cars in the parking lot. The food- Double Double. By far the best fast food burger in the land. As previously stated, I always get mine with no tomato, and both kinds of onions. Everything works. You get the great burger, melty cheese, crunch of the regular onion and the sweetness of the grilled onions. Its a perfect burger! The fries were cooked perfectly and there is no better ice cold drink than a Coke to wash it all down. In-N-Out has the perfect business model IMO. Keep it simple (limited items), keep it affordable (6 bucks for a burger fries and drink) and keep it consistent (Every In-N-Out is virtually the same as far as quality, minus the Goleta location...see my review on that one if you want to know why). Given that I've eaten at every other In-N-Out on the PLANET, it's hard to believe I have never eaten at this one! But I was hungry, and didn't need an excuse. I was finally in the area so that I could drop by and check this store out! I wasn't disappointed... Most burger fans know that there is no better burger out there. So no need to heap praise. In-N-Out definitely makes a tasty burger! The burger is, of course, customized: Mine are well-done, no cheese, whole raw or grilled onion (depending on my mood), unsalted patty, and extra tomatoes. The onions give the kick, and the extra tomatoes lend a great tart-sweetness. Without the added salt, the meat is almost an afterthought. I might be going vegetarian...Nah! But let me tell my personal and best-kept secret; no-salt fries! Well, you have to be a potato fan, because without the salt, they don't taste like potato chips anymore - they actually taste like potatoes. It they seem too bland (it is an acquired taste), you can add your own - they even give you a salt packet in case you change your mine once they are sitting in front of you. Once you've had these a few times, you will reel at the normally-salted version. Tastes way too institutional - like the green beans they served you in the school cafeteria. The restaurant was full with the usual suspects: A couple of Mormon missionaries in their crisp, white shirts, grandpa and grandma enjoying their double-doubles, the high school girls not really eating anything (just watching), the construction workers on lunch break, etc. This particular In-N-Out is much like all the others; friendly, clean, light, and bright. They'll be a great place to stop-surely they'll have a place to change the baby.' Nope. At least not in the womens restroom. On my last visit I had the double double and was not let down. I highly recommend giving it a try if you have been to one. There is an employee, an older gentleman named David. He was so kind to our group. He made sure we all had everything we needed. I watched his interaction with different people and he is just the nicest man. I told him it was my granddaughter's birthday, and he brought her a strawberry shake with a hat that he took the time to write happy birthday on it for her. That's the best costumer service ever.
