This gym has a lot of positives, even though parts of the club definitely feel a bit dated in terms of the machines and overall layout. That said, there are still a lot of amenities here that make it worth coming to. One of my favorite features is the sauna and steam rooms in both the women's and men's locker rooms -- such a nice way to unwind after a workout. The tennis courts are also really well maintained, and there's a great community vibe here with lots of people gathering to play tennis and pickleball regularly. The pools are nice as well, although during the winter the lap pool is the only heated pool, so it can sometimes be difficult to swim unless you're able to secure a lane. Overall, while the facility could definitely benefit from some updates, the amenities and active community keep me coming back. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. My Husband passed away unexpectedly in February. I put hold on membership and was charged this month. I called to cancel which they did but as for a refund they sent a check to my Dead Husband that my bank said I cannot cash. This is ridiculous. I asked if they needed a death certificate or my marriage certificate they said no. They said they could only send check in his name because he was the primary on the account even though im on it too. I am disputing charge with my bank. This is horrible business practices. I would choose a different gym. I will be looking into a lawyer if this doesn't get resolved. read more

Filthy. Unresponsive management and Corporate office. Complaints and appeals to uphold basic sanitation standards go into the void. Received an email asking for an honest review so i gave it. Manager gave my family the stink eye after that. Issues compounded by regular $1.00 promotional specials that bring waves of new people who enter the sauna fully clothed and sweaty from the gym with shoes on the benches and on the walls. Kids eat around the pool so the patio furniture has wet crackers and God knows what else ground into the fabric; clumps of hair on the walls and floor of the shower that are slimy w biofilm because they hose them off, rather than scrub or brush the tile; the equipment and floors are not regularly cleaned as hair and thick dust can be found throughout. Currently they are renovating the shower areas and have ONE porta potty baking in the sun for the entire club and have for the past several months. Had a great deal from 10 yrs back when it was a nice club, but not worth it. read more

People bring children with reserving 1 lane which 2 people split . My location is great and close to my work. The weight room has almost 1 of everything I could want, an Overhead Pullover machine would be an amazing addition, please. Having the InBody testing, the hydro beds, massage chairs, and THE TOWEL SERVICE! Yes, I love having those and the shampoo in the showers. They did go cheap on the men's locker room shower drain repair, and it took over a week and then it started to have issues again within a month. All the construction guys in the locker room talked about it and how it could have been done right in just 3 days, but it would cost twice as much. It's also a major bummer when I go into the dry sauna at 7:30 am and it's not working just to hear the front desk say, "Sorry it wasn't turned on because the guy who has access doesn't come in until later." That sounds like someone needs to be trained. Having the family pool as a polar plunge is nice in the winter. read more

DISGUSTING Mens Steam Room, found a video on Facebook group forum page and the accumulation of bacteria, dirt, sweat, and body gunk is repulsive... They DO NOT clean out the sauna room and steam room underneath the benches, I will be reporting this to corporate about management and accountability of keeping this facility clean, I pay over $100/month and they should be doing the bare minimum for that kind of pay but they don't. Other gyms out there for $10-20 / month that are more well kept than this. Hopefully things change... read more

Not impressed. Not nearly enough cardio, and it's in bad shape. Most of the treadmills are out of order. The ones that do work are wobbly or make loud noises. Most, if not all, of the equipment is pretty old. They have a VIP room which is an ugly space with some old massage chairs. So much could be done with this space. Other clubs I've visited were cleaner and had much more and better equipment. And honestly it's just a strange vibe in there. Update: And now today I arrived for a class and they had closed the whole gym due to it being mildly Smokey outside. No other gym in the area was closed. And it cleared up within an hour. This club has been under construction for months and nothing has changed except an increase in monthly rate. They had 18 televisions active, enough so that people who wanted to watch something other than the news had another option. Now there is only 6 televisions active. Yoga room has been inactive due to construction for months with no progression made. All the classes are now done in the basketball room which is unfortunately for all parties involved (people participating in classes, and people promised a room to play basketball in). Spending $100 a month for a gym that has been under construction for a while now has been really unfortunate. Due to the small community and gym availability, I feel like I am in a pinch. The closest gym is in El Dorado Hills and cost upward to 250 bucks. I understand that we are in a small town, but we can do a better job at getting things done when they need to get done instead of waiting forever. I like this gym but I feel as though I've been tricked a little. When I got my membership I remember having a chat with the person I got it with saying how their women's room is their biggest selling point for me as going to the gym gives me anxiety and having that space is so comforting only to find out MONTHS later it's not a women's room which had I known when getting my membership I would've continued on for my search. It's literally all pink with only pictures of women in it. Plus their hip abduction machine is never working and there is no rush to fix it. I've asked a couple times and the response is i don't know. That's all. My biggest thing is the women's room they make look like it'd be a women's room and used to be but now it's full of men just like the downstairs rooms. This gym caters to men only. So disappointing. Plus the towels are dirty. They may be washed but they're never white they always look dirty and smell. Currently looking for a new gym! read more

I'm a nurse in Stockton who recently moved to Placerville. I now commute because I love who I work for and love my work family, but I found I was coming up to El Dorado county to bike and hike almost every day I had off, so I just moved here... When I discovered there was an In-Shape up here I thought it was a sign from some higher power because I get a free Platinum membership to In-Shape through my work! After touring the gym I felt even more blessed! It's really nice. When I learned the club is one level up from my platinum membership, I figured I'd have to pay something out of pocket to upgrade, which is totally ok. I was told they wouldn't honor the platinum membership I had at all, and I'd have to pay full price for a membership. This just doesn't seem fair. I even tried going through my HR department to see if I could pay the difference through them. They said the upgrade would have to be through the gym directly but said "I'm sure they could upgrade your membership, if you paid the difference." -- Nope. Well... hell. I haven't decided yet, but when the gym reopens, I'll probably end up biting the bullet and paying full price for a second membership. I really need the gym as a de-stressor (especially now) and the last thing I want to do is drive farther, to another gym, on my day off, after my work commute. But thanks In-Shape for ruining me "feeling blessed" by making me pay for a complete second membership. Update: Called member support and unfortunately they told me the same thing... Garbage customer service, garbage facility, supposedly they did improvements? Haven't seen them. The staff is dumb and rude. The towels aren't big enough for a toddler let alone a grown person. Today on the way back into town, my spouse & I stopped at In-Shape Health Club to get. quick tour; we are looking for a tennis club. It was a Tuesday about 10:15 a.m. When we walked in the front door, nobody acknowledges us, mostly the guy standing at the counter. Not even a HELLO. I walk as close as I can to him and he says, 'What do you need?" Hmm. Well I lament, "we are looking for a tennis club. May we get a tour?" He first says "I don't know who is here." (That isn't my problem.) A gal who works there pops in and he asks her if she can give us a quick tour. She says, "I'm on a lunch break, can you get someone else?" (Literally says this in front of me. Manners much?) I look at 'bored desk guy' quizzically now. He says, "I can call a manager". While we are waiting there we start to walk around, not going in any rooms or climbing stairs - just walking through the ground floor area. we look outside and see the tennis courts. Now the guy who can't leave the front desk says too loudly at us, "YOU CAN'T BE WALKING AROUND AND YOU CAN'T GO OUTSIDE." Um, ok. And shouldn't you be finding us a Manager? We quietly walk back in feeling like we have broken some golden rule. I said, "Can you find someone to give us a tour?" He says," hey can you write your information down and someone will call you." Hmmm. NO. What a bad business model. Treat potential new clients like crap. Completely unprepared for walk-ins. read more

I put my membership on hold last November, they decided to pull my membership off hold in the middle of the night without telling me. The charges from what was supposed to be on hold has raked up to be over a grand. Ive called about 4 or 5 times and sent numerous emails to the managers who keep blowing me off. The bad review is solely due to the unclean locker rooms, saunas and pool area. I'm not somebody who normally notices something like that, but its bad enough that I will be canceling my membership and moving to a club a little further away (and a little more expensive unfortunately). I've brought this to In-Shape's attention on two surveys they sent me and also brought it up directly with Tyler and another manger, but the situation hasn't improved. I've been in gyms most my life, this is the first time I legit didn't feel good about walking around barefoot in a locker room. Sadly, if it was just cleaned well it would be a great club. I like the people who work there, I think the equipment is good and the fee is more than fair, but the lack of cleaning is gross and a deal breaker for me. read more

Not sure why this is considered a "resort" level club being that it's much smaller than there other resort locations in comparison to Antioch and Concord. I was disappointed at the lack of cardio equipment, they only have three stair masters and a handful of treadmills where as the Brentwood location which is considered "signature" and smaller in size has much more to offer in cardio equipment. Was going to cancel my membership, they talked me into putting it on hold for up to 6 months for $10 a month. After 4 months I called to cancel it permanently. They said they would do it but didn't. I noticed a few days later a charge of the $50 yearly member fee. When I called to see about reversing the member fee the main office lady was rude and said its in the contract when you signed. I said yes I was aware of it being charged while I was active but not inactive, further I wanted this account cancelled so why wasn't it? Again, she stated rudely it was in the contract, I knew at that time I would not get anywhere. This gym overall is NOT worth the price anyway. Had major problems, one I ended up with being injured. The tanning beds are not maintained properly and while I was getting out of the bed it came down and hit my head. They kick you out of pool and hot tub early so they can close earlier than the stated time. During the weekend they close at 8pm. This was a contributing reason we cancelled. My entire family found this inconvenient. Many other little issues also. read more

Dear In-Shape! I have been calling your phone number for three days. Once picked after picking my selection the phone disconnects. I have also tired to call the main office in Stockton and get a busy tone. The app won't let me cancel my membership or my families. I can't call to cancel either the main office or my local gym. I was thinking about coming back after the daycare center is open again since I have a child that needs the daycare option but now. I was told by the health club manager, Cheryll, on November 2, 2022 that a check would be issued to me for $26.59. This was to offset the erroneous charge debited on November 2, 2022 to my Citi Bank credit card. I was told to expect the check by November 21, 2022. When that didn't happen, I called her AGAIN (#2). The club is back logged with their transactions she said, but she would keep an eye out for my transaction and she would call me back on December 9, 2022. AGAIN that call never happened. I called her AGAIN (#3) and this time she told me she called the corporate office and they said they issued a credit to my credit card on November 14, 2022. AGAIN, that didn't happen. So, as you can see, I'm getting the run-around. What I object to is the out right lies. Plus, they close the pool 30 minutes early before closing stating that they do this because a few people do not leave on time. Yes the gym has a lot of amenities but after working in customer service, I know what good customer service looks like and the staff needs major help in this department. You walk to check in and 5% or the time, staff will say hi and acknowledge you. I honestly feel like I'm a bother to them when I approach them with a question or feedback on machines which still don't get addressed. When asking about restock of birthday protein cookies, they say "not in stock". No update on when they will come in. Just a plain, bland answer every time you ask for an update. I also have been in the weight room and have now 3 times been interrupted by trainers saying they were using the machine but were nowhere near it. I get training people but I feel rushed or kick myself off the machine because I don't want to be stared at. ****The ONLY friendly staff is those with Kids Zone. Most importantly Kayla my boy cannot stop talking about how he gets the opportunity to play with her every day, even when e do not go. The staff at the front Chris, Kim, and Jennifer make it a point to remember your name and greet you as you walk in. I cancelled my membership on dec 9. They said my cancellation won't go into affect until Jan 16... I get charged for another month just because. When I said that that was BS they told me I had to take it up with corporate!? Really!? I have always been irritated with this company for how much they charge for a simple gym. It's nothing special. No family room to change when you have your kids. No family spa. They don't keep towels in the locker rooms. No special equipment or classes. For what they charge it's not impressive. I thought the customer service could have been abit better. I knew it as the Millennium Sports club and went there cause of all the other folks were there we knew went there. We still go there. But they really need to get on the game for customer service more. It has some really top notch equipment. And the courts for tennis are all very very well cared for. But for the price, I would have expected better towel service or availability of classes available. Of all the portions of Millennium Sports Club history was the cleanliness of the showers/steam spa. I love this gym. It's a bit expensive for me and I don't make a ton of money but in my opinion it is worth the price, after a long shift at work there's nothing better than relaxing in a sauna and getting a good workout in.
