The daycare experience here is a nightmare. One of the attendants, Tiffany, could benefit from additional training. She lacks experience with children and her people skills are inept. The actual gym is great, the cost you pay monthly should not just be a top-of-the-line workout area, but the childcare staff needs to actually care about children. Caregivers should not diagnose visiting children. They do not have medical backgrounds or knowledge, let alone a license. read more

I've noticed that the equipment, locker rooms, and general areas are often dirty, and despite raising concerns with the staff, nothing seems to change. This gym DOES NOT advocate for women. Had an incident where an old man (a regular patron according to management) had invaded my space, physically stopped the machine I was on in an attempt to kick me off, and management did not address it at all. To explain more about the situation, I only attempted to spend 105 seconds on a machine. I finished one rep and an old man had asked to use the machine I was on. I replied that I was going to do one more set (45 more seconds). I pulled on the machine to start and this man PULLED THE MACHINE BACK, and yelled at me "Get off." I stayed right where I was. He still holding onto the machine and I had yelled at him to get away from me. He walked away to get the manager/supervisor. The manager DID NOT address this man getting in a women's space. All he said to the man was to let me finish my exercise, skip the machine I was on and come back. Extremely disappointed in the way management handled the situation because now the old man believes he can go around and do this to women at this gym. Please be safe ladies. Take your business elsewhere or please bring a gym buddy with you! It's a shame I no longer feel safe at this gym! read more

As a member who spends 99% of his time at this club playing tennis, It's extremely upsetting watching In-Shape allow pickle ball to monopolize and ruin our tennis courts. Their sport is annoying enough, add in the music they're somehow allowed to play without any consideration for other members, you'd think they owned the place. Unlike pickle ball, tennis players actually have to concentrate. It's time for In-Shape to step up and regulate the noise on these courts and other members in general. Tonight I was playing tennis with my young son, and I had to listen to a group blast explicit music full of sexual innuendo and profanity. In-Shape STAFF should keep these members accountable, but there are only young kids working at night and no one with any authority to make inconsiderate guests respect others. Why should I have to worry about keeping these idiots accountable? In-Shape is no country club, but I pay enough $ to play tennis in peace. read more

I go for the great big outside jacuzzi and sometimes the pool in the summer. I really like the vibe there but the jacuzzi is not hot half of the time. I go there to unwind after work and Planet Fitness to work out. I am thinking of discontinuing Browns Valley and just keeping the Elmira membership for the classes. I just like the jacuzzi there and it's not working half the time. They really need to get their act together when it comes to the jacuzzi though. :( read more

I've been a member of this gym for about a year and a half now. Over the course of that time the pool has been out of commission 3+ times for a sustained period of time. When your primary workout is swimming, that is significant! When I have brought up issues to management I always leave the conversation feeling unheard. No one wants to take accountability for the issues this gym has. You might ask why I'm still a member... I wonder that too, I travel a lot and haven't had the time to explore other gyms and frankly there aren't a lot of options in this area for what I need. This is facility has a lot of potential, members are kind but not run in a way that makes me feel welcome. Other gripes about this club: They seem to never have towels and today their washer and dryer. Also don't get me started about their membership freeze policy but basically if you travel don't have your family sign up on your plan because you won't be able to freeze your membership without freezing your entire family. I'm happy to sit down with management, again, and tell this to their face, again... If anyone has a recommendations of another swimming pool I'm all ears! read more

I am so frustrated with this gym. They have gotten so expensive in the last 6 months that I have joined, yet so many of their machines are broken. Apparently this is a life gym, it's horrible! I have to pay 25 extra to go to another gym where I work and half the treadmills are broken. The gentleman told me it's because one company fixes them and they get to it when they get to it. We decided to join that day not only based on how much we liked the facility but the pleasant & friendly interaction we had with Jacqueline. Since then, every time we visit she acknowledges us with a nod or smile even if she is not at the desk when we arrive. She has been very helpful when we've needed assistance. First of all I want to say the staff at this gym are amazing. They are always so friendly and helpful. My kiddos love the kids club and the staff in there are outstanding! Alexis the manager is always so welcoming and sweet. But sadly the facilities at this gym are not worth the price. The machines are out dated and broken a lot of the time. The last week I have not been able to do cardio at the gym due to all of the treadmills being used/out of order. I've been a member at In-Shape Browns Valley for over a year now and finally feel like leaving some genuine feedback in hopes someone on their management team sees this review. Firstly, the staff is friendly and helpful. Members are also nice, and everyone has been respectful. This gym is very family friendly and has everything you need: classes, two weight rooms, multiple cardio rooms, machine rooms, yoga studio, tennis, pickleball, etc. Equipment is in decent shape and members are good about wiping everything down after use. Great outdoor space with three pools and cabanas is a highlight. The water in the lap pool and middle pool should be warmer, only the pool by the tennis courts is the perfect temp. Even on a busy weekend, there's plenty of room and seating for everyone which is great. We really love the outdoor space in the summer. The Kids Zone is so convenient, and they do a good job with the little ones. There are also some perks like a full body massage chair, snacks/drinks (for sale), a lounge area with TV, and they're always hosting different events. If it wasn't for the cleanliness issues at this gym, I'd be giving it 5 stars hands down. However, this is where the problems arise. I can't speak for the men's locker room, but the women's can be disgusting on a bad day. There are 5 bathrooms, of which at least 3 are always clogged, won't stop running, overflowing, or just completely disgusting. The showers aren't any better. One of the showers always has a broken shower head. The other has the handle installed backwards so hot gives cold water and vice versa. One of the showers doesn't drain so you're standing in smelly sewage water part way through. The worst part is every single shower has slimy floors and stained walls in desperate need of a deep cleaning. Obviously, they can't control if someone leaves hair on a wall, but I really wish they'd scrub down the showers more frequently because there's nothing worse than rinsing off in a dirty stall after a good workout. The sinks and mirrors should also be cleaned throughout the day as they get rather filthy and/or clogged. It also shouldn't take weeks to fix a broken paper towel dispenser or mouth wash dispenser. I pay a hefty monthly fee (over $100) and really hope these cleanliness and general maintenance issues can be addressed for the price members are paying. read more

I joined this club about five years ago for the sole purpose of lap swimming. The lap pool has been out of service for about half of the time during the past year. I finally gave up and decided to quit. I called, and they said I had quit in person. I sat for 15 minutes waiting to talk to the manager. Finally, the manager came out, and when he found out that I was trying to quit, showed absolutely no concern and told me to quit at the front desk. I attempted to quit at the front desk and the desk attendant told me that she couldn't help me because she didn't have my current email on file. While waiting for all this, I figured out how to quit on their app, quit online and left. I can't think of a time that I've met less caring. less interested staff. read more

I have never been able to get into contact with a manager. Every time I call I am told that a manager is either busy or simply not there. Doesn't change when I go in either as the managers just hide in their office as the employees relay messages between us. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY HERE We tried to contact InShape to cancel our membership for over SEVEN MONTHS before receiving a reply back. They charged us for a month after we put in our cancellation both with the club and corporate, and after 3 more emails to corporate we finally got a response, which literally took 7 months. The response states we were not entitled to a refund of that month where we had requested cancellation within terms, and that our membership was cancelled. Oh yeah, they also charged us the annual club improvement fee during the 7 months it took for corporate to acknowledge our request to cancel, but will not give a refund. Save your money, and your time, and DO NOT enter into any signed commit with this terrible corporation. No one at club level can help you and "corporate" doesn't reply back, or care. read more

I recently started going back to the gym on a regular basis. The workers are very neat and they are constantly cleaning. The young woman who frequently cleans the woman's locker room area in the early afternoon is definitely a hard worker. The only dirty are the clientele who don't wipe down the machines after use and those that leave the wipes on the machine. But no big deal. That's all gyms. I did encounter a rude client who was blasting her music on her headphones while in the sauna and when I asked her to turn it down, she ignored me. Oh well. She's probably entitled to do what she pleases. Common behavior of entitlement to be found everywhere. Anyways. The gym and staff are very nice. I enjoy my time there. read more

Used to go here for 5+ years. I only ever came to play basketball and y'all really closed it. I would say at least 40% of members only came to play basketball. It was packed at any time of the day unlike the weight room that they chose to expand, to get rid of basketball courts. I have been working out at In Shape in Browns Valley for about 6 months. This week I tried my first class. I was intimidated at first to try the Power Yoga class, but I am so glad I did! The instructor, Tisha Guzman, is amazing! She encouraged me to try the class and told me to make it my own by practicing yoga how I felt comfortable while still challenging myself. I left my first class feeling incredible and couldn't wait to come back. I highly recommend the Power Yoga Class from 6-7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Tisha. Love this gym. It's one of the premier ones in the area and is great for working out as well as taking the kiddos to play. Three pools including one for lap swims, and a hot tub. Gazebos that make you feel like you're on vacation. They also have an outside playground for the kiddos as well as a huge indoor play area that you can drop the kids off at with a nominal membership for them. Two stories for you to workout to your heart's galore as well as indoor basketball court, racket ball courts and outdoor tennis courts. If you have only one kid at Millennium Child Development Center, it's a no-brainer with the promotion they are running where you get special pricing on daycare. You'll want to check if it's still running. Also, Jennifer who is their manager whom I worked with on my membership, is amazing. She's quite friendly and worked with me to find the best package for my family. A year later when I wanted to expand my membership, she remembered very specific details of our last conversation. I joined earlier this month after my friend Andy invited me to play racquetball. I was impressed with the facility and the staff. There's something for everyone and the equipment is in excellent condition. The trainers are great if you want that one to one experience. I received valuable information from Tristan in less than an hour. The other teachers have been great as well. The new power yoga class being taught by Tisha Guzman is a great addition. Tisha is excellent at encouraging you and explaining every move while making the class accessible to every level of fitness. Power yoga meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm. I would say 0 stars. I starting going here in hopes that the daycare was great! They would call me every single day and tell me that my daughter was hitting and to have talks with her. She's 20 months .. so i would and i would always leave and take her when she'd get in trouble ! Well it started to be where my very social daughter would NOT want to even enter the daycare if one lady was working it became weird i got the manager involved and asked him to watch the cameras. It was so uncomfortable obviously i switched gyms. I told the manager how my daughter only ends up crying or hitting others when that one lady is in there. She would always act very busy when we'd walk in changing trash cans or anything she could do to avoid making eye contact or saying hi to my daughter even if she was the only worker. We switched gyms i was so nervous as if this was my daughters fault tell the new gym she has hit 0 times she gives hugs and loves to the girls and runs in every single day so excited as she normally would ! So if you feel a way about this daycare trust your gut something is not right there and the manager Jose should really watch his employees and who he has around children before a child ends up hurt from that lady. read more

This location has everything you could want in a gym. Every option of equipment, multiple pools, racquet ball and basketball courts, etc. I love the layout and all the designated areas for different things. My husband is a huge fan of this location as well! I do wish the music could be turned down just a tiny bit. I can't always hear my own headphones (with the volume all the way up) over the gym's music playing. The reason for knocking off one star is the bathrooms. They are filthy. Floors, stalls, and toilets. The sink and shower areas are fine though. When I told my husband about it he said I had to be exaggerating. Today, he used the mens' bathroom and apologized to me saying that it was the same way. Also, there was no toilet paper in most stalls. I figure some days any bathroom will be dirtier than others just depending on the use. However, this has been consistent. Overall, great gym and I recommend! read more

I've been paying for in shape memberships the past 5 years, and my schedule with work disallows me to arrive until the last hour before "reservations are closed". The lady up front said on now multiple "you can't come in late for your reservation" and disallowed entrance. What is this? I pay for a membership here. I give it 2 stars because the facilities are great, but customer service not so much. I went in to the Browns Valley location to cancel my membership due to being gone for work for over 6 months. The girl who helped said that it would be taken care of later as nobody in Member Services was and had me sign a document. Then she did something on my app. Turns out she just put a hold on it. I ended up losing my home on August 19th to the wildfires. When I saw they were charging me again, I called Browns Valley and was put on hold for over 20 minutes, twice, only to have the system hang up on me when the call was transferred. So I googled their main office number, this time a 25 minute wait to be hung up on again. So I emailed them, they responded and said I owed almost 100 for past dues, I said I had canceled. Now, today, I get another statement saying o owe them for 2 months. I call, this time it's a 45 minute wait! Guess what happens at 45 minutes.....transfers and hangs up on you! So friggin annoying They make it impossible to cancel. Due to the fire I'm living hours away and can't just "Stop by". Please help me figure out how to cancel this!!!
