Nice facility and staff, but this business is not ADA friendly. The final straw was trying to help my disabled wife climb UP a set of concrete stairs (!) to get into the jacuzzi tub. Come on! Any hotel knows that you shouldn't require guests to stair-climb to enter the hot tub. The designers of the Active Wellness Center were too cheap to build a fully in-ground jacuzzi pool. Also... the only way a disabled person could get through the heavy glass doors surrounding the pool and dressing rooms is to have a strong caregiver present. And even then, the wheelchair will smash against the glass doors, which won't stay open for you. And get this! When I cancelled our memberships, they provided only the tiniest box to explain why we were cancelling. I typed "Not Enough Space Here." I fully expected them to email me asking for details. Nope. I stopped by the Active Wellness Center to figure out what in the world is going on with the Vacaville, California campus and the facilities at this particular location. First and foremost; The staff are top tier and top notch. I've got nothing but praise for the incredible service I've experienced each time that I am warmly greeted and welcomed by this wonderful group of employees. However the recognition ends there. I have been working out and utilizing this gym for the last three months and STILL there are multiple showers within the male locker room facilities that are completely inoperable and very gaudily labeled with caution tape as a deterrent for use. I understand that things take time to fix, but after familiarizing myself with multiple members over the course of my time here I have came to learn and understand that the showers have been in limbo for the last 6 months because of a 'leak'. I was also informed that the campus facility director/project manager for NorthBay Health was attempting to award a contract for the work to be done at the lowest competitive rate possible to which she has still been unsuccessful in doing so. When I heard this I thought to myself; I understand precisely what is going on here. Somebody at North Bay has been siphoning the facilities budget and God knows what else. I was immediately prompted to walk across the campus to the Emergency Room building/ Main Hospital Entrance and gather some information as to who is responsible for running the show. Let me just say that the staff security were in a scuffle to furnish a name that I wasn't even expecting. From what I was told there was a Black Lady who is responsible for fulfilling and orchestrating renovation work. Unfortunately it has been said on numerous account and record that this lady has been negligent in accomplishing any kind of real renovation work and has significantly cut into the budget to line her pocket books. The name I was given after waiting 10 minutes was written down on paper included in the photos and I highly doubt this individual has anything to do with the shower facilities not being repaired in a timely manner. Or perhaps maybe he is a piece to the puzzle. Who knows? Im just blasting it here for the internet to make its own determination of the situation. We love it here! It's super clean and staff are always friendly. Each area is well equipped with everything I need, and Tyler is an amazing trainer who is helping me with my specific needs. I always enjoy hearing TJ's music over in the corner. Every area has it's own ambiance. The only thing I would like to see is that the swim instructors are more careful not to schedule a swim class for individuals when there is a group class. read more

I love how clean the gym is! I come to the gym either early morning or evening and there's always someone cleaning the machines or sweeping. The indoor track is awesome. I can get my steps in without being out in the elements. One of my favorite things about the gym is how there's no wait for the machines. I use to go to In-Shape around the corner from active and it was always busy...I like how this gym is never crowded. The towel service is a plus along with the mouth wash, hair ties, lotion, toiletries, and makeup remover wipes. The only reason why I don't give it 5 starts is because of the weekend hours of 8-3pm. read more

So nice they are open! The group class instructors are enthusiastic and assure you get a good workout. There are a lot of seniors and its nice to see there are group exercise classes for them. Front desk staff seem helpful and open to suggestions. A few of the showers aren't working properly but they were happy to know about it. Some of the towels during the soft opening are (worn) thin and have stains. Hopefully those will be replaced. The jacuzzi was tepid at first but has reached its muscle relaxing potential. Lol. We were members of this club back when it was NorthBay Health Springs since its opening. When they closed during the pandemic, we were heartbroken. We tried two other gyms as we were desperate to go to a gym. We are happy to report that the gym has re-opened as Active Wellness Center. It's pretty much back to its former glory. We are big fans of their lap pool. Unlike the other gyms we tried while they were closed, Active Wellness Center is tranquil and serene. There are so many different things you can do here and I never have to wait for any machines. We are able to book swimming pool reservations. We don't feel uncomfortable or intimidated by other gym members here. We thoroughly love going to the gym again. The gym has also been a great place for our son and our exchange students to go and get in a good workout. I'm hoping to try a Pilates class soon. read more

This gym is amazing, the friendliest & the best gym I have ever joined. I love outdoor walking. I don't enjoy treadmills nor walking outside in the cold or hot days. So I joined this gym in the winter of 2023 mainly because of their indoor walking path. I am a senior so through my health plan with Kaiser's Silver & Fit program my dues are $24 a month. As a new member I took advantage of a free meeting with personal trainer Jacki Rooney. We discussed what my goals were & after showing me an exercise routine, she recommended a couple of group classes. One was an hour long stretch class which she taught three times a week. I tried it, loved it & now attend regularly. I have since no longer suffer from sciatica & now feel more limber. Thank you Jacki! Another recommendation by Jacki was a Strength & Balance class taught by Martha Crowell. After becoming a regular attendee of that class, Martha recommended two more classes she taught, Cycling & Step. Her Step class is now my favorite cardio workout, being both mentally & coordination challenging but fun! I had never attended a cycle class so I was reluctant at first. I gave it a try & hated it. But Martha's enthusiasm, dedication, teaching style & music selection kept me interested so I kept forcing myself to keep going. Super friendly regular class attendees also encouraged me & gave me helpful tips. Now I don't miss a class. All the routines in Martha's classes are rhythmic, to the beat of a wide range of music which makes it more enjoyable to workout with. The number of regular class attendees proves how popular & enjoyable her classes are. Her verbal instructions & demonstrations are clear & concise. Martha is also so dedicated to her students that she rarely miss her classes. Since attending her classes for almost a year now, she's only been off three times. Attending all these classes (Stretch, Strength & Balance, Cycle & Step) have made a vast improvement with my body, both physically & mentally. I rarely miss a class as they have become my priority. Aside from the instructors & classes, the gym is impressive! Awesome service with very friendly staff & super clean. Bathroom amenities are resort style with multiple hair dryers, clean showers & dressing rooms, thick towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, deodorant, Q-tips, hair ties, make-up remover, Kleenex & mouthwash. I switched over from another local gym that was less expensive but extremely crowded, loud, and overly bright (I have light and sounds sensitivities and become overstimulated). Have been considering joining this gym so did a 3 day guest pass which was free. I can see the appeal of this gym, a lot of positives like facility and amenities but their membership and lack of perks is the biggest downfall and deciding factor. Positives: CLEAN facility - newer equipment, clean areas all around even incl bathrooms. HELLA CLEAN for a commercial gym Pool - amazing pool, their pool room is filled with so many options lap, lounging, spa, etc Towels - noticed it's pretty rare for a gym to offer complimentary towels to its members Classes - i didn't take advantage of any of the classes or training since they aren't really my thing but seems they offer quite a bit of options for those who are into that. Trainers/staff seem very enthusiastic to work with their clients, again didn't train with them but they seem cool. Neutral: No steam room/sauna - huge pools and pool choices makes up for it Negatives: Hours - hours are kind of weird, I like to workout friday night around 8-9pm since gyms are ALWAYS less crowded at that time, but they're closed at 7. Membership - expand on the downside of this membership. The cost for a comparable gym like InShape has a membership tier for $79 access to 3 different clubs in solano and running a $10 off plus $1 enrollment so cost ends up being around the same. So cost being about the same, why can't I bring a daily guest? I think that's the biggest downside, my son likes to workout with me randomly but doesn't go as consistently as i do, so it wouldn't make sense to pay for a membership for him but a daily guest pass would make it nice to be able to bring him when he ends up tagging along. read more

I love this gym and all the variety of classes and equipment available. The instructors are amazing the locker rooms are always clean and the staff is really friendly. I highly recommend this gym. Active Wellness is the best, hands down. My husband and I were members before the shutdown and I counted every day this place was closed. We immediately jumped on a new membership the second the gym opened. Here are the things I love: - water aerobics - the teachers are phenomenal and there are so many to choose from. The people in the classes are the best. - the trainers are amazing - especially Jackie. - if you like equipment, this is the place! Free weights. Functional fitness. Every machine. More free weights. Bikes. Elliptical. Rowing. Stuff I don't even know what it's called. - indoor track - hello being able to walk/jog in the summer during the day. - classes and more classes - Pilates - reformer! The women's locker room is great. I just wish they would get better shampoo and shower gel. It smells like rancid eucalyptus. It's strange. Kinda gross. Not spa like. Honestly, the shower products are my only complaint. People - you don't even realize the bargain this place is. It's amazing. Do not work here if you can avoid it. There are plenty of gyms in Vacaville that are seeking qualified employees. Their hiring manager was late to an interview and proved to lack human compassion. Try Planet Fitness or In-shape. These High Tier workout gyms are doomed to failure because of poor management. Everyone is stressed out because of finance issues and they're not taking time out for themselves. Don't waste your money, there are plenty of ways to workout without gouging your wallet. read more

Love working out here, there is always equipment free when I'm there. Not to mention the equipment is always clean and you always see people wiping down equipment after use. I use the therapy pool and jacuzzi after working out which is great but would be even better if there was a sauna. read more

Sad, sad, sad. A family member invited me to go and check it out. I went in, worked out and it was an okay experience, unfortunately the day we went they closed early so I didn't have a lot of time to do what I needed to do. A few days later someone called to check in on the experience and made an appointment with me to come in a few days later for a full tour. Mind you, no one invited me to one on my first visit, even though there was about 5 people standing there when I arrived or explained anything about the amenities. The guy on the phone knew I was coming in after a long commute to meet him. I showed up exactly on time and went to the front desk, when I told the young woman I was there to meet him she kind of laughed and told me he had gone home early. It's been a full week and no phone call at all. Nor did he even follow up after to apologize for completely wasting my time. I'm sorry I work too hard for my money to waste it on people who won't even give common consideration for the people they call and make appointments to meet with. Since re-opening under new management, this place has been great. I would highly recommend the stretch classes at 11 AM with Jackie Rooney. It is great to be back home. I missed this gym so much the last three years. I'm hoping that they start to offer more classes in the evening. There are way too many people in the water aerobics classes (which is great and popular). It's great seeing some of the same class instructors return. One thing I ABSOLUTELY miss is the spa music in the locker room. Otherwise, I always appreciated the different floors and wide variety of equipment available. It is a little more pricey than before, but it's great that they honored prior members with special rates. I look forward to new services and class offerings. read more

I understand they are getting their act together since taking over from Health springs but there are some basic cleanliness issue that desperately need to be addressed Mold on the pool tile a cockroach's on the pool deck at least at cockroach's are dead It is very apparent there was almost no maintenance done during the Covid shut down. Soap scum is prevalent on all surfaces in the locker rooms Lots more room in the exercise areas due to removal of equipment, was it sold off for cash flow or to make room for newer equipment? I was a charter member from 2016 when first opened. Great gym hours opened weekends till 6pm . And weekdays till 9. Now after reopening bad Friday and weekend hours and what made me cancel my membership after 8 years is I asked to freeze my membership for a month, they said OK but it's $20 a month. I am going back to Travis gym. read more

This place is huge. A whole floor for free weights, separate areas for those who like some space, and a ton of cardio equipment. Management is super friendly and if you're a swimmer there's several pools. Plus day care center and a hospital next door if you're really going hard on that cardio. AND indoor track. Hidden gem don't even come here I like it sparsely populated. read more

Joined Active Wellness recently and can't stop saying how great it is to whoever will listen. So far, I've found the facility immaculate thanks to the employees constantly cleaning. The free weight area is well equipped with incline benches that are unfortunately in short supply at other health clubs. Their weight machines are on two separate floors but, grouped well so you're staying on one floor at a time depending on what muscle groups you are working. A few machines are in areas off to the side of the main floors but easy to find and convenient, gives a nice change of environment between different exercises. I haven't had to wait for equipment to become available which has been amazing, you don't really realize how much time is wasted waiting until you're not anymore. The locker room has been very well kept when I have been in it, lots of good touches making it comfortable. Active Wellness is more expensive than some of the other health clubs in Vacaville but, if you're serious about maintaining a healthy level of physical fitness in a peaceful and pristine environment then I highly suggest you give them a try.
