Unfortunately had a bad experience. First, I scheduled an appointment for 12:30 on a Sunday for a male cut, and received a call that the stylist I requested was no longer available and they could move the appointment two hours back with another stylist who I was told could achieve the same goal. (Vivionne- I apologize if the spelling is incorrect) I asked for a medium/long haircut and was very specific with what I wanted. I included 3 separate inspiration photos and was very very detailed before the cut began. I told the stylist NOT to touch the back since I liked how it was laying at the moment and I also liked how the sides were laying. Really I just needed volume taken out of the top and sides so it wasn't too heavy. I don't believe I was asking for too much and my requests were relayed back to me and I was told what I wanted could be achieved. She reassured me she would just take off weight and thin it out on the top/sides, and wouldn't touch the back. Well, she trimmed off literally everything I had in the back, and took the sides way too short. Additionally, the line up was WAY too rounded and uneven. The one thing I asked her not to touch/trim length off of, she took INCHES off. It was nothing like the pictures I showed and did not reflect the conversation that was had before at all. Extremely disappointing. It was so far off what I asked for it seemed like she forgot the conversation and inspiration and just did what she wanted. If you can't do the cut I asked for, just say that. The salon was completely empty, and for such a large space this should've been a sign. Will not be back and would definitely not recommend Vivionne unfortunately. read more

The lady that I get my eyebrows here with is great. I've been coming to her for years. The 3-stars is for scheduling and keeping to it. Time and time again when I schedule an appointment and arrive just before or at the time of appointment, she is busy with another client. Either she doesn't communicate with the girls at the front desk, or they just push through and scheduling appointments just don't matter. As an example, let's say I schedule an appointment for 10am. I arrive right at 10am, and as I'm checking in another person is getting sat in her chair. What was the point of me scheduling an appointment? Why does the business even allow scheduling appointments if no one will stick to it? At least inform all the clients that eyebrow threading is on a first come first serve basis, and not by appointment. It's frustrating time and time again. Eyebrow threader does great work, but the scheduling/front desk girls don't do great work in keeping to client appointments. read more

I had Elizabeth as my hairdresser. She is amazing. She is very thoughtful. My hair is thinner and she made suggestions on what I should do or not do with my hair, like less washing + don't put it in a pony tail when wet. She was really sincere and does a wonderful job with hair. I went to see the eye brow person but I have a reddish bruise that she blamed on my lotion. She was nice but I've been to a few eye brow ppl + have never had any bruising of my skin when waxing my eye brows before. And I'm not sure if I believe that the lotion that my dermatologist approved for my eczema would cause my skin to bruise (bc I've been using the same lotion for yrs without a problem), but maybe? Anyway, it hurts, as if I got burned but the wax was not hot, it happened when she pulled. She was super nice but I would not have my eyebrows done by her again. The boutique was nice + staff was wonderful. It also has complimentary sauna for patrons on day of service. The parking is easy + I would definitely come back for Elizabeth! Today I unfortunately did not have a pleasant experience at In Style Hair. I have been here previously (August 2021, paid $50) and had a good experience, which is what prompted my return today (May 2022). However the check in process and greeting at the front desk was smooth upon arrival! I saw Ricardo, who is definitely a very talented stylist. I unfortunately wasn't super pleased with how my cut turned out, but he was very excited by the whole process and end result. I'm someone who can have a hard time expressing when I'm not happy with a haircut at the end, because at that point there's not much to be done. I had asked for three inches off with some slight layers, and curtain bangs. I received an austentatious heavily-layered look instead. See some before and after pictures below. My biggest issue with my experience today was when I went to checkout. I scheduled my appointment through their online website and was quoted at $40 for a haircut (not including tip). When I proceeded to the register, I was told my cut would cost $60 (not including tip). I inquired as to why my cut was $20 more than what I was quoted, and was met without a clear answer. "Various reasons" such as hair length and other factors was the answer I received. I then asked again why MY specific haircut cost more, I was again met with the same catch-all instead of a specific answer about the pricing of MY service. I theorize that InStyle salon just adds onto what you've paid for a previous visit. The receptionist, unprompted, informed me that my previous visit in August was $50, as a way of trying to justify today's $60 appointment. I don't have a problem paying for a quality service. But I DO have an issue with a salon located in a heavily college student populated area quoting cheaper prices online, and then delivering much higher ones without warning at the end of a visit. At the very least, there needs to be explicit messaging about why my service was more than the originally quoted $40. read more

While i can look past the hair stylist being late to the appointment, not only was the vibe off the entire time, but she cut off nearly 3 inches more than i was hoping for. I got the worst haircut of my life here. I had been to the Avalon location once before when I couldn't make it to my usual girl in Tampa and that was nice so when they had no openings but offered the Waterford location I said fine whatever and just asked for someone who could do a decent haircut on my long thick hair. The location just felt super chaotic and uncomfortable, not relaxing in the slightest if you're looking for more of that vibe. I never write negative reviews but I'm at a time in my life where I really needed to get a good haircut to feel pretty and refreshed and I don't want someone else to go through what I went through! My girl just kept cutting and cutting. The blowout looked awful but at that point I just wanted to leave so I accepted it. It wasn't until I washed the blowout out that I realized how awful it was. I literally had 4 different lengths of hair and none of it blended together. It was so choppy my husband said it looked like I cut it myself out of angst lol. Thankfully they had me come back to get it fixed for free but it was pretty much too far gone at that point. My layers get shorter as you look towards the back of my head which looks horrendous and I can't even put it up into a ponytail or bun, one of the things I requested to be able to do. this was the WORST experience i have ever had in a hair salon, which upsets me because this used to be my favorite salon. I came in and saw Delia, and i have never looked worse after. i told her i just wanted the dead ends off and my bangs trimmed. i then showed her a picture of what my bangs looked like. she proceeded to grab the bottom of my hair and just cut it straight through. i thought that was a little weird but didn't think anything of it. however, then she just grabbed my bangs and LOBBED THEM OFF! she did not ask if the length was okay or anything! when i got upset that they were too short she got mad at ME! when styling my hair she put no heat protection or product on my hair, and FRIED IT OFF! when i talked to the front desk girl after about getting my hair fixed she was so super rude. this was one of the worst experiences of my life and i have never felt more insecure than i do now. and the worst part is the owner said they would reach out and they never did! do not trust this place!!!! read more

The last 2 times I went to to this salon for a haircut, they butchered & burned my scalp. They need to hire better stylists because they do not know how to style ethnic (Indian) hair at all. I looked like a mushroom 2021 after my birthday cut. I decided there's no salons here that are decent ('23) so I sucked it up and got a trim/blowout, how bad could it be this time? The stylist burned my scalp pretty bad with a blow dryer until I had to yank my head back and say "OW". It is now August and my scalp is still super itchy in that spot no matter how much oil I use to soothe the burn. I'll never come back here again! Save your money & hair, go somewhere else. This week I was lucky to sit in the chair of Penny! I haven't had a haircut since January, and I was excited, but a bit nervous. Penny chatted with me, face to face, for a good while before she even touched my hair. She asked for photos of me, my goals, my inspo, etc etc. I loved that. After setting a game plan, she assessed my hair- then we went to the shampoo. UMMMMM.... I wish I could live in that bowl. She was very thorough and I was so relaxed! My cut is FANTASTIC! Do not let Ricardo touch your hair. I wanted a simple trim. My hair was mid back length and I get married in a week so wanted it to look fresh. Well he didn't listen to anything I asked for (literally to keep the same style I have just cut off the dead ends). He gave me choppy angles (I HATE ANGLES AND WOULD NEVER ASK FOR THEM) and bad obvious layers. Lisa was great in responding to my concern. Management is amazing. Solice took me from waist length hair to a shoulder length cut with absolutely amazing layers. I have been to In Style a few times and was so happy with Omar who was exceptional. My review is not based on his service but rather the total disregard from the receptionists. I had an appointment set and called to see if they had availability the following day. I had the misfortune of dealing with Terra who has to be the rudest receptionist I have ever encountered. No conversation just a flat out "no" to all of my questions. I said thank you and hung up. When I showed up to my appointment 10 minutes early I was greeted by "we didn't think you were coming." When I asked why, I was told "oh Terra" and was quickly followed with instructions to wait for Omar who was 10 minutes away. 25 minutes later no Omar, not even a check in to see if I could continue to wait. I got up and left. It is incredible to me that this kind of customer service exists. I spend a considerable amount of money during every visit. I come here every so often just because one to get my brows done is 13.00 without tip. I try to come once every 2 months ? To give them hair to keep my brows shaped. With that being said, I was recommended by a good friend of mine to come here if I'm looking to get my brows done. She's suggested Runa & Mya. Now, I don't make an appointment so I get who I get. However, I've had the pleasure of working with both ladies & I can't say they disappointed ! Runa is whom I had recently & she shaped my brows sooooo PERFECTLY ! I can't say thank you enough ! I have NEVER in my life had such a terrible hair cutting experience. And I write this after having gone into a different salon recently where I asked for a trim and the stylist cut 4 inches off my hair. This visit was WORSE than that. Ricardo was my stylist and I told him up front about my last experience. How I went in for a trim and the stylist took entirely too much off. How I wanted to add very slight layers (because she cut it all one length) but that again, other than a layer or two, I wanted to walk out of the salon not knowing I got my hair cut. My hair doesn't grow very fast but my goal is to get it back to the length it was prior to the botch job earlier this fall. I should have walked out after the consult because it didn't really seem like Ricardo was listening, and I definitely should have walked out after the shampoo session because I've never before had so much water sprayed directly in my ear or my hair shampoo'd so aggressively. It was like he was rushing from the start. Instead what happened, is Ricardo WALKED OUT in the MIDDLE OF MY HAIRCUT. He was cutting entirely too much off, especially around the front of my face, and I made comment and said "Wait!, can we please not cut this any shorter? Remember I want just a slight trim and a few layers to add depth - not a helmet style cut or the Rachel hairstyle from friends" which is what this cut was heading towards. To which he responded "I don't need this drama." And HE WALKED AWAY. He said I could find another stylist or the poor receptionist at the front could find another stylist to cut it. Excuse me? What professional, EVER, walks away in the middle of a service? Where a paying client asked for specific instructions, and expressed how fearful they were because of their last experience, and instead gets this man with a holier than though complex saying he's cut hair for 14 years so I don't know what I'm talking about? It sounds like he lives for drama, whereas I've been living with my head of hair for 32 years, so in this particular instance, yes Ricardo I do know what I'm talking about. The receptionist was on the phone trying to call in another stylist, but I would have had to wait in the salon, with Ricardo looming, for at least 15 minutes - and he would have been in the salon, on site, while another stylist would have had to try to fix his mistake. I did not want to stay in the studio a second longer if he was going to be there, hovering over whomever came in to try and fix it, or hear him complaining about me to other patrons or associates. I truly hope In Style stands by their customer satisfaction and terminates his employment or booth rental. I am appalled. I am still in shock that this happened. I will never step inside In Style again as long as he's employed there and suggest others stay away from his services and unprofessionalism as well. read more

If there was a zero star option on here, I would pick it. I'm usually not the type to go back in after a service is done but I was so pissed off that I had to go back to ask for a refund. I asked for a simple eyebrow threading with Ganga, who I have gone to before, but the last two times she had made my eyebrows thinner than they already were. Mind you, I like the original shape of my eyebrows, I just only ever need them cleaned up around the shape of it. She completely messed up the shape of my eyebrows, made them thinner, AND uneven to top it off. I went back inside and politely asked for a refund because it was not what I asked for and they couldn't offer me one. I will start off by saying I got a decent cut that I will probably (hopefully) get to work the way I asked for when I do it at home. But honestly I could have gotten the same cut at the "cheaper" places for half price. I had a stylist that didn't speak more than 20 words to me the whole time. Asked for the very popular shoulder length, layered look with beach waves. Left with shoulder length hair that has wedding curls in it so I don't really know how the cut actually looks (if it will end up like I wanted). I should have been worried when I walked in and there was not a single other person there getting their hair done. There was one lady who came in sat down in the stylist's chair next to where I was and he had said to her your hair is really curly. It was obvious he didn't want to color or cut it so she left it was coming back later to get done by somebody else. And for quite a while I had overheard him talking with the receptionists laughing about this other client and how she stated that she was recovering from cardiac arrest and things were a little hard for her. They said they couldn't believe that because you would be in the hospital if you had cardiac arrest. I found the whole situation very unprofessional. read more

I have been getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded for about 2 years now from Sharare. In my opinion she's the best out of the 4 other ladies. I previously tried to do threading with two of the women working there when I first visited. But they simply do not know the meaning of customer service and seemed pushy to get me coming back as a client. Luckily I decided to test out one more person for threading before going to another business. which turned out to be Sharare. She use to wear these goggles which reminded me of a scientist inside a lab. It made me laugh the first time I saw that. She doesn't wear those anymore though. Besides getting my eyebrows threaded I also get my upperlip as well. Sharare makes it less painful and quick. Now onto the haircut service. I highly ecommend Dali hands down. I think she is at this location temporarily because she is usually near the UCF Colligiate way location. Dali is a sweetheart with personality who knows how to build up her clients the right way. Ok... So I am still getting my eyebrows done by Sherare (the best), but I changed my hairstylist to CRISTINA. Omar was booked and went with Cristina and I absolutely loved her as well. I had some concerns about my hair and she was ok with a consultation. She listened to my concerns and addressed them accordingly. She fixed my bangs and they are finally how I wanted them! Additionally, I have gotten a facial with TINA (loved her and will be going back for future facials. She was soft spoken, very relaxing, and what surprised me the most was that she asked, prior to my facial, what were my skin concerns and expectations for the facial.
