I have been wanting (semi) permanent eyeliner for years and was really excited to finally get it done. The procedure itself was virtually painless. There were only a couple of times on the lower lids that it felt pokey. Otherwise it was fine and just felt like someone was moving my lashes around. I followed the care instructions to the letter but when it was time for the touch-up (included in the price to even out anything that healed wonky) there was nothing there. I looked as though I never had the procedure done. For a few days after the procedure I woke up looking like I had slept with mascara on. I sleep on my back so this wasn't a pillow rubbing or anything. They told me it sometimes happen and that we would try again and I would still be able to get the touch up later at no additional charge. So, we tried again. My technician asked for assistance from another towards the end and they adjusted the needle depth. The upper lid felt the same as the first time but the lower lid was considerably more uncomfortable toward the outer corners. The lines looked different than the first time and I did not experience any "smudging" this time. I was very excited and hopeful for success. Unfortunately, it still didn't hold. When I went back in to see what could be done and if I could get my money back and I was told no that there are no guarantees and no refunds. My paperwork does say there are no guarantees but no where does it suggest that I might end up walking away with nothing. It talks about swelling, bruising, pigment irregularity and fading (in spots or over time), lash loss, corneal abrasion and infection but not one word about it not staying at all. In the end, they offered me a facial as a consolation which, I suppose, is better than nothing. Be aware that this is possible before you sign on the dotted line and put your money down. What are percentages? Idk...but know that it is possible and it does not matter if you are light or dark skinned. All that said, I am very much looking forward to my facial. :)

Unfortunately had a bad experience…read more First, I scheduled an appointment for 12:30 on a Sunday for a male cut, and received a call that the stylist I requested was no longer available and they could move the appointment two hours back with another stylist who I was told could achieve the same goal. (Vivionne- I apologize if the spelling is incorrect) I asked for a medium/long haircut and was very specific with what I wanted. I included 3 separate inspiration photos and was very very detailed before the cut began. I told the stylist NOT to touch the back since I liked how it was laying at the moment and I also liked how the sides were laying. Really I just needed volume taken out of the top and sides so it wasn't too heavy. I don't believe I was asking for too much and my requests were relayed back to me and I was told what I wanted could be achieved. She reassured me she would just take off weight and thin it out on the top/sides, and wouldn't touch the back. Well, she trimmed off literally everything I had in the back, and took the sides way too short. Additionally, the line up was WAY too rounded and uneven. The one thing I asked her not to touch/trim length off of, she took INCHES off. It was nothing like the pictures I showed and did not reflect the conversation that was had before at all. Extremely disappointing. It was so far off what I asked for it seemed like she forgot the conversation and inspiration and just did what she wanted. If you can't do the cut I asked for, just say that. The salon was completely empty, and for such a large space this should've been a sign. Will not be back and would definitely not recommend Vivionne unfortunately.

She had it repaired at the shop, then it broke AGAIN after being repaired. At this point she resorted to superglue because the back-and-forth was too frustrating. Sadly, it broke yet again, a third time, and at the weld where it was just repaired. In discussion with a friend who does permanent jewelry as her job, she noted this was not normal nor typical of a well-done permanent jewelry piece. Additionally, while the staff was polite the environment felt a bit cold and unwelcomingduring at time that was supposed to be fun and engaging. For something advertised as lasting years, our pieces barely lasted weeks. This was my first time getting permanent jewelry, and it will likely be my last. I really wanted to love the experience, but the quality and durability just weren't there, especially compared to my friend's other permanent jewelry from a different business that has had no issues. I'm convinced this isn't typical and is rather poor quality. It seems too many issues to be coincidence.

My make up artist picked me up right after and was very patient, listening to my goal for the shoot and checking in with me every step of the way. One disappointing moment: When I asked if they had a yelp checking in reward, the cashier said no, but surprisingly, when I checked in they had 20% off your service. Location is very good, with plenty of parking if you don't arrive close to happy hour as this place is right next to Don Julio Cantina (Margaritas anyone?) I'll probably give them another try if I ever need professional hair or make up.

I am sharing my honest experience working at In Style Hair, specifically regarding the owner, Charles. During my time there, I experienced what I can only describe as a hostile and verbally abusive work environment. One incident in particular was extremely disturbing. I had politely asked Charles when he came in, if he could turn on the heat since it was 66° degrees in the salon and multiple clients had complained about the temperature. Charles began yelling at me, calling me a "dummy" and saying that "we do not deserve heat". He stated that "whatever dummy turned the heat on needs to talk to him, and until that happens we get no heat." The fact that he openly said we did not deserve heat was shocking, demeaning, and completely unacceptable. I calmly explained that the FDC (Front Desk Coordinator) had been directed by Lisa, the director, to turn the heat on. Instead of listening, he aggressively asked, "Who is your boss?" I tried to de-escalate the situation by telling him I understood his frustration. His response was, "No you freaking don't," and he continued going on about how "pissed" he was as he walked out. This entire interaction happened in front of a client, which made it even more humiliating and unprofessional. After the incident, I spoke with Lisa expecting support or at the very least acknowledgment of how inappropriate this behavior was. Instead, the situation was minimized. At one point, while I was explaining what happened and how it affected me, she said, "Well maybe we should add in the guidelines that Charles gets to be mean once a month." That comment made it very clear that my feelings and the seriousness of the situation were not being taken seriously. Rather than addressing the behavior, she took Charles' side, and no accountability was enforced. What was even more disappointing was that the only real urgency shown afterward was about obtaining the phone number of the client who witnessed the entire situation. I was told that a bad review would not just affect Charles, it would affect the whole business. The primary concern seemed to be preventing negative publicity rather than addressing the verbal abuse or how it impacted me. That spoke volumes about what was truly prioritized. As someone who has experienced emotional and physical abuse in my past, being spoken to in such an aggressive and degrading manner was extremely triggering. It brought back feelings I have worked very hard to overcome. This was not the first time I had been spoken to disrespectfully, but this incident was the breaking point for me. After everything occurred, I stated that I would be putting in my resignation effective immediately. Instead of showing understanding or concern for what I had just experienced, I was told that I had signed paperwork stating I was required to give a two-week notice. Once again, my emotional well-being and the circumstances that led to my decision were completely dismissed in favor of policy. There is so much more I could add about my experience, but this is already long enough. No employee deserves to be yelled at, insulted, told they do not deserve basic comfort like heat, or have abusive behavior brushed off as acceptable. In my experience, this business fostered a hostile, unprofessional, and emotionally unsafe environment. A workplace should be built on respect, leadership, and accountability. Unfortunately, that was not what I experienced here. read more

had the best experience!!! i always used to hate getting facials.. most of the time they are painful and leave ur skin irritated.. BUT i made an appointment with SUSY and OMG! it was the BEST experience in my life!! The relaxation and great service and information that was provied was excellent.. Susy didnt just made me look younger but her magical hands made me feel younger as well.. She was very friendly and made me feel very confortable. she explain to me the type of skin i had and how to take care of it.. I will definately will be seeing her againg.. the service of the Salon and specially SUSY made me feel so at home that i will recomend this to ALL the people I know.. I LOVE SHEILA!!! I just moved from out of town and was terrified in finding a new stylist. I walked into the Instyle Hair here in Avalon Park and Sheila made me feel really comfortable and she is very professional and fun. That was over a week ago, and I still haven't received a call or any follow-up. Mistakes happen, but what was most disappointing was the lack of communication and customer service. A simple phone call or an effort to address my concerns would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, that never happened, and I can't recommend a salon that doesn't stand behind its services.

When I arrived to the salon (again, DAYS after booking the appt), I was asked to wait to meet my stylist. I was brought back to her chair where she asked me to describe what I'd like. She proceeded to say that she did not feel comfortable cutting my hair type. While I am grateful that she did not jump in while unsure, I did find it pretty upsetting that the stylist and the salon chose to handle this embarrassing situation in front of other clients rather than calling me beforehand or even speaking with me at the front of the salon. Likewise, I have a difficult time understanding the purpose of submitting pictures in advance (which the stylist stated she saw), but then waiting until after I have driven to the salon to discuss. J. Bauman was actually in the salon while this was happening and offered no reassurance or alternative. He sat on his phone in the front of the salon while the stylist told me how "awkward" the situation was. The best that they could provide was asking me to come in a different day (mind you this haircut was for my graduation the next day.) If you have textured, curly hair, I'd be extremely wary of booking with the curly cut stylist and this salon in general. I found that EDUCE down the road was a similar price point with a much more understanding and qualified staff.

Also, I noticed the sign at the front counter stating "American Express was no longer accepted" was missing. (During my last visit three weeks ago, the receptionist confirmed this per the sign.) I asked Vanessa about this, and she stated she is accepting AmEx again as she discovered this was the primary credit card for so many of her customers. Now, that's listening and responding to your clientele! And when I said, I wished that it had been stated on the website or had been told that earlier, she made a face, smirked, and shrugged. Then, she went and asked two other stylist if they could fit me in, trying to whisper while she did it, but I got to hear her complain about me, which was fun to hear in front of my kids. I asked for a refund instead, which again, was met with a smirk. When I tried to explain to her why I was upset to have my time wasted and that I wished that the website was clear on what she did and didn't do, another smirk, a tone, and a guarantee that I would never go back there. When I asked what the refund policy was, if I'd receive an email, receipt, something, an attitude. One of the other women jumped in and told me their process, which I appreciate and thanked her. The other stylist there were very nice, said they'd be more than willing to help me out. My last haircut looked like a body part that I won't mention here and I was forced to wear hats for a bit, so I appreciated the offer, but after dealing with Liberty... Yeah, I won't be going back there. Now, I absolutely appreciate her honesty. She can't cut short hair. That's fine. It was the attitude and the entitlement that she gave after my time had been wasted as though she honestly could not wrap her head around why anyone would be upset that she'd wasted their time. it was honestly mind-blowing. I understand that she is young, but this is a business, and just common decency, when you waste someone's time, don't smirk, shrug, and give a condescending smile.
