Like other people said it has a nice sportsy and old school feel to it and the people are pretty chill. It took a few passes to find it because of how small it was. I walked up and saw a guy smoking outside and inside there were two others waiting for the barber. About ten minutes later the guy outside smoking came in and revealed himself to be the second barber. Maybe there was a good reason everyone was waiting for the first one (long dreads) I told him to do I think a 5 on top and 3 on the side because I just wanted something to tide me over and I left with a 1 all around. New to this area and was looking around for a new barber. This one is the most unprofessional barbershop I've been to in my life so far. Jay kept on getting distracted and kept talking. Loud rap was blaring. After he cut me up, he asked for $30. 30 bucks for just a regular, typical haircut?!?! He didn't even have any signs posted showing what prices he charged. First time I stepped into this shop, I had just transferred from PCC so of course I didn't know any of the barbers, let alone their experience but after graduating in July '14... Lemme just update folks on my experiences based on the past couple of years. If you are looking for a more specific/personalized cut, then look for Jay (hilarious dude/well-spirited usually rocking a snapback/fitted). Unlike barbers I have been to, Jay actually listens and cares about the type of cut you want or is trying to get so don't hesitate to ask him just how exactly you want your cut because unlike typical barbers in So-Cal, I truly believe Jay works for his $ while always showing love and generosity for his customers (majority are college/hs students). As far as pricing goes, when I first started going here it was $10 a fade/taper/fro-hawk/etc... but as the shop became much more popular, I believe the prices went up to $15, at least on weekends but regardless I always gave Jay at least $17-$18 just because he always kept it real. Again, based on my experiences...In the Cut is probably the only barbershop that is within striking distance of UCR campus which means this place can get packed quickly and early regardless if it is a Monday or a Friday however I have come to realized after going here for 1-2 years that the earlier (1030am-ish) is better but that was because all of my classes were in the afternoon/evenings. Go see Jay and get cleaned up! In The Cut has a comfortable sports based theme. It's very relaxed, and the people are friendly. It was like getting your hair cut while hanging out with the guys, everyone is talking sports, joking around, and a couple of guys are playing x-box. Fuck this place.it all seemed good at first because the light skinned barber with the braids(i believe his name is J)gave me all type of suggestions.He offered to re line up my part even though I said no at first but he insisted. After the cut I gave him my $15 he started acting real bipolar cursing and trying to act real hood basically threatening me. saying "naw its $20 homie idk where you heard $15 from".even though the person before me got the same cut and paid $15. This guy made it seem like I was trying to steal when it was my first time there and I didn't know the prices anyway. Plus the cut was so mediocre, the taper he did is different on both sides,and he shaved my beard when I clearly told him twice just my mustache. I'm not sure how the other barbers are there but I highly don't recommend that guy,and if you do be very specific about what you want and also bring some homies because if you don't have enough money he might try to shoot or fight you. read more

Do not go here. one barber is pretty talented but the amount of drug references talk and cursing here kinda intimidates the average client. Not to say, I have asthma and I have encountered the smell of marijuana smoke from the public restroom that they provide. This place can be very sketch, especially the amount of wait period. The barber simply states first come first serve but as soon as one of his friends, homies, or whatever show up, your spot is lost. If you complain about your spot, is best to know the barber himself will disrespect you. If anything, I recommend the other barbershop next to stater bros, "Getting faded barbershop." At least, I don't get my spot taken when I get there plus, they have 10 dollar tuesdays. read more
