Finally, an Indian restaurant in NYC that showcases how multi-dimensional Indian food actually is. To be good, Indian food doesn't have to be overly spiced and oily, or dunked in curry. In fact, this isn't even close to what Indian food (the kind people eat in India every day) really is. This restaurant really gets that. In a way that no other Indian / Indian-inspired restaurant in NYC does. And after living here for over a decade, I have tried most. Other Indian restaurants (except for maybe the super, super high-end ones) tend to basically use the same combination of 5-6 Indian spices as a base, which they then apply to the 79 dishes on their menu. This often results in most dishes tasting about the same and you walk away unable to remember what you ate. Not Inday. Each dish is delicately spiced. Flavors are subtle yet powerful enough that you taste each individual flavor, each leaf of cilantro, each seed of cumin. The menu is creative, but it is not trying to be too much. And while the food is healthy, I promise you it is by far tastier and more satisfying (not to mention hygienic) than the 'standard NYC Indian fare' you can find a few blocks east on Lexington Avenue. Lastly, the decor is amazing. And this is one of those restaurants that actually smells really great and clean. Music and lighting are totally on point too. Inday has managed to hit the nail on the head and fill a gap with something that was much needed in this city. It is really that good, so run there as fast as you can! read more

Inday is the hands-down the perfect solution for healthy and delicious lunch and dinner. The food isn't heavy or saucy, as Indian food can be. Simply cooked and lightly-flavored proteins sit alongside fresh market vegetables and satisfyingly-filling grains. The "not rice" is a cauliflower base that somehow magically tastes exactly like rice, but it comes with a fraction of the carbs. I got half chicken and half pork and each was simply cooked and flavored so that I could eat it every day without a problem - I honestly couldn't decide which I liked better. I like this place very much. The food is high-quality and nutritious. It has interesting flavors without having extra oil. My complaints are these. I never know what I am going o get at this place. -The place can't figure itself out. Everytime I go there it seems the menu has changed. -The quantity varies widely. Sometimes I get a bowl filled with salad. Other times it's 1/2 full. -Sometimes they give you lots of condiments, and say they are free. The service took very long, despite the fact that the place was empty, I went at 11:50 to avoid a rush, there were two servers who were extremely slow, one did not know anything at all and kept answering all questions with "umm i'm not sure" When at last I reached the counter to pay, they overcharged me and when I questioned it, the answer was "umm i'm not sure". The menu seemed a little confusing at first but there was a nice staff member waiting at the entrance door to explain and help. - you have the option to pick one of their created constellations or to make your own. It's mediterranean inspired food which is not too spicy but healthy. Their portions are reasonable and it's never too crowded in there, even during peak times. - My only critical point is the friendliness of the staff. Been a crazy few weeks with work and life and thank god for this place for keeping me fed and also saving me time . Not only is the food super healthy and clean but the service is super fast and quick saving me much needed time so I can take of errands during lunch and after work. In love with the not rice and chicken! They recently added a few new menu items . The chickpea curry add on is beyond delish. My boyfriend literally licked his bowl clean! What a nice place we found that our son can eat at (he has Celiac and is gluten free). He tried some new foods that he hasn't tried before and he and his friend enjoyed their lunch. I absolutely love Indian food! But the food here is way too salty! The basic flavor seems to be in there but the sodium is literally a death sentence! Food was cold and flavorless. But that's not the worst part as taste is subjective, and perhaps the food is slightly nutritious, but it is NO Indian. I ordered lunch from Inday on ChowNow, which promptly gave me the delivery time as 12:42pm. I am exactly 0.2 miles away from the restaurant but wanted to get lunch delivered as it was brutally cold in NY. I went down to pick up the order at 12:36pm. When the order did not show up until 12:55pm, I called Inday, only to be told that they do not have my order, and could not locate my order. I called ChowNow, who told me that the restaurant has their own delivery, and that they will check with the restaurant and let me know. I called Inday back at 1:08pm, this time to be told that the delivery man picked up the order at 12:59pm. The order was delivered at 1:19pm, close to 40 minutes after the original intended delivery time. Will never order from Inday, or go to the restaurant. read more

After reading about this place a year ago, finally got to savor the delicious food. I was there at a slow time (4:30 pm) so there was no wait. I chose a DIY bowl, with riced cauliflower and kale, slaw, black lentils and grilled salmon. There were a handful of other additions including nuts and sauces, resulting in a spectacular melange of well-seasoned food. My reason for giving 4 rather than 5 stars is because the salmon, a $5.25 add-on, was literally a 3" square of fish. That is unacceptable by any standard for measuring value. It was well seasoned and grilled, however. Perhaps that fact heightened my dissatisfaction. The story I read a year ago also contained a photo with a piece of salmon of substantial size. Charge more if you have to but don't be chintzy; that takes away from the spectacular-ness of the the rest of the offerings. read more

I'm so glad I stopped by here after months of not coming (here, and also all places in general because of so many different food allergies.) I got the (g)rainbow(l) with the turkey meatballs and with a few adjustments due to my allergies, and it was seriously so amazing! But what was even more amazing was the manager, Elvis, who answered all my questions, let me look over the allergy sheet, and then proceeded to further clarify with patience. I always feel bad whenever I go out to eat (the very few times I do) because I feel like I'm bombarding the staff with so many questions due to my allergies, restrictions, and intolerances but Elvis was so patient, kind, and caring to answer every single question I had! This place is simply outstanding! I seem to eat here almost every day for lunch and I have no plans to stop, the food for me is absolutely perfect! I don't eat (much) meat and I'm always happy with the veggie and grain options, as well as the coconut chutney which is delicious. This food is very healthy! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, they are just great. For my meal I usually get the 'Nice Rice' although the non-rice is excellent as well, and they load it up with veggies. The price to add protein is slightly higher than I would like to pay, but the smoked tofu is delicious. The complimentary additions such as raisins, carrots, beets and others all help. All the flavors blend together really well, which is fortuitous as they are all piled on the same bowl. It is super "authentic"? I don't know, nor do I care, it is extremely delicious and (without protein) it's a pretty good value. My only complaint is that if you don't get any add-ons the bowl itself can be on the small side, good enough for lunch but would not satisfy me for dinner. I'd love to see them add soups to the menu also, a great mulligatawny would be nice. Highly recommended! read more
