Build your own dossa, I chose lamb !
    Jennifer O.

Best place hidden in plain site ! The best coffee, it's south Indian, all included...very good. The lamb dosa and its sides were delicious. The food and the dosas are made on the spot. Come, it's modern, upbeat, food is good and affordable !! The more I eat the food, the more I want to write ! The spices on the amber are on point and nice crunch with diced white onions. The side sauces, yogurt with chaal and spices, tamarind chili oil and nice mild chutney just added to this plate. Service was great. The guys took time to listen to my description of food I wanted ( a day without coffee is MENTAL CHAOS). One came around the counter showed me everything...and the place was busy ! The other guy was nice and was bringing orders to my and other tables and this is self serve !!

We got Dosa & Bhel Puri. Great flavor but quite heavy after a while (as expected) Wish there's more English explaination for the menu, it took us a while to order...

Only in Karnataka (South India) is jaggery (unrefined traditional sugar) put in sambar. A dosa is dipped in coconut chutney and then in sambar and then eaten. Masala Dosa has not labeled itself as being from Karnataka so why was the sambar sugary sweet? It marred what could have been an enjoyable lunch. One of the line cooks told me that Americans like it sweet. Are we having savory or sweet? Only the chicken samosas here are tasty.

    Fantastic pav bhaji!

Came here with my wife and Gujarati in-laws, who all love Dosa/Idli, and we all left very happy. We got a couple Masala Dosa with podi/gunpowder spice, a corn+cheese dosa, mini idli's and vada pav -- all were very good, funny enough the Masala Dosa may have been the least impressive despite their namesake. The corn&cheese dosa were obviously a very non-traditional take but they really liked it. The vada pav were *very* good, perfectly spiced/fried with crunchy bits, and great chutney to give them flavor. It's counter ordering and they bring it out to you pretty quickly, service is pleasant inside but feels more like a take-out place than a sit-down. Highly recommend if you're in midtown and need a quick Indian dosa or steet food experience!

Traditional Masala Dosa in a to-go container

We had a great meal and welcoming service at this dosa spot. It's a bit of a squeeze if you want to eat in, but worth it for enjoying the food hot from the kitchen. I got a masala dosa, and my husband got chicken pulao. We had ordered to eat in, but got to go containers by mistake (hence the photo). Both dishes were delicious and had good portion sizes. My dosa had a lot of filling, which isn't always the case with dosas, and the dosa itself was nice and crispy. The storefront has thoughtful touches, like hand sanitizer and wet wipes on the counter alongside napkins and utensils. And the employees were friendly and kind, with one of them coming to check on how we were enjoying our meal. I would definitely go back.

    Traditional Dosa with Lamb, Limca

When I walked by this place the other day I freaked and counted down the days to when I could come try. That day is today and this place was fireeeee. I got the Traditional Dosa and added Lamb to it. The flavors were out of this worlddd. There was a great amount of filling too like Id be ripping the dosa and there was so much it would fall out so at the end I had an extra snack lol. The chutneys were great too. The coconut chutney was refreshing, the sambar was delish even on its own just eating it like a stew, and the ginger chutney was out of this world good!!! I wanted more of it. I also tried the Limca drink which was an Indian version of sprite. I actually thought it had more of a lime flavor and a hint of creaminess to it? Idk how to best explain it but it was great. They have a ton of other non-dosa menu items that I will definitely be back to try!

If you have dosa cravings like me but aren't near little curry town, this spot is for you. The staff are friendly but still working out how to use the register. For example, I was charged a convenience fee for using cash. If is pricey but if you use cash - you save 6% ! The food is amazing - very authentic! So come give this place a try! Also they mispronounce names when your order !

Change of pace for lunch. The space is generic fast food. My masala dosa was prepared to order and quickly. It was accompanied by 3 sauces- one stew like, one coconut based and a great sweet/sour hot sauce. My dosa was very good. It's more expensive than a couple of slices of pizza or a sandwich. I enjoyed it.

Stopped by on a rainy day and enjoyed a dosa. Although it's a bit pricey, it's not too bad if you're craving something spicy and warm in the area. The workers were all nice and helpful and service was quick. The restaurant is clean and modern. Only thing lacking was that there was no bathroom. It seems more of a quick grab and go place than an actual restaurant and people kept coming in and going so they were busy. The worker approached us asking how our order was which we thought was very sweet.

    Vegan Dosa

The guy at the counter was pleasant and friendly. The space available for sitting and where they took my order was clean. They have a decent selection of items. Both vegetarian and other. You can watch them make your meal, I did not since I had too many bags. I had the vegan dosa with onions and vegan meat. The dosa "pancake" was cooked beautifully the golden brown color was done perfectly. Nice crispy flake. The filling was bland and tasted like no spices or seasoning was added. I did eat all my food since, it was what I broke my fast with. I was hungry. I can say the added sauces helped greatly. The dark red sauce was absolutely delicious. I could have paid for that in a bottle. I would go again maybe, but to try anything else. I wouldn't go out my way to eat there due to the price as well. The vegan meat was definitely not worth almost $20.

Lamb dosa (top), grounded chicken with rice (bottom)

Found this newly open spot, needed something quick. My friends ordered dosa (chicken and lamb), which they enjoyed but on the pricier side ($16/dosa). I ordered chicken with rice dish, which isn't something I would rave about. The chicken was too salty, it was essentially grounded chicken, more rice than chicken; I was expecting cubed chicken. Overall, the food was decent but overpriced. Would've given a solid 5 if the chicken wasn't mush and the price was cheaper.

Lamb dosa had great flavor, sauces were amazing, very filling portion. Wonderful and friendly staff. Clean seating area.

    Idli Fries
    Sal M.

a pretty decent dosa spot, I liked the sambar and the masala idli fries -- although the sambar could have used more drumsticks (i only got like 1/8th of a piece of one). I felt like the prices were a bit high for the size of dosa. it was fun to try but i'd probably stick to third ave/ the dosa cart.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday. $46 for a 2-course brunch is a great deal for an elevated meal, especially since the two courses come with a side ("accompaniment"). Quick heads up if you've been to the original in New Delhi, while they share a name, the New York experience pales in comparison. New Delhi is a full tasting menu with bold, unique flavors and presentation. New York is much more westernized, a fusion fit for the American palate. Service was consistent throughout, though not the most helpful when it came to menu questions - don't expect much guidance if you're trying to decide between dishes. They start you off with a tiny mug of pumpkin soup, creamy and delicious. The burrata comes as a big ball of cheese with crispy lotus root for scooping. The dal with naan as your accompaniment is a generous portion and the dal is beautifully flavored. The tawa paneer has a lovely presentation but the flavor didn't stand out. Coorg black pork was moist and paired perfectly with the cracklings. Best part of the meal was the Truman Bazaar cocktail - Truman vodka, suze, and tomato foam. Sweet, bitter, and spicy all at once - a genuinely unique combination.

So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

The star of the show is Jaz herself -- the owner, hostess, and bartender all rolled into one wonderfully warm, charming British woman who somehow makes you feel like you've been a regular for years within thirty seconds of walking through the door. She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha? Pillowy, caramelized, absolutely yummy -- the kind of bread you'll be tearing into long after you're full. The flavors here are the real thing -- bold, layered, and unapologetically authentic.
