Small spot but I feel like all little ruby locations are like that lol. Heard this spot had good pasta and they were right, it definitely didn't disappoint. One of my favorite spots when I'm in town. It's usually crowded so expect a wait but it moves quickly. Nice brunch spot with a very diverse menu offering everything from breakfast to pasta. Highly recommend the Ricotta Pancakes. Fluffy pancakes topped with seared bananas and served with a nice honeycomb butter and real Vermont syrup. The Spicy Sausage Breakfast Sandwich has spicy pork sausage, fontina, a nice chili jam, a scrambled egg and a nice lemon aioli served on a bun. Servers were friendly and checked on us every now and then. It was kind of humid out and the only thing the restaurant had was ceiling fans spinning (no AC). Perhaps that's just the vibe they were going for, but I wasn't used to it nor was I willing to share my food with bugs and flies hovering around my food (we sat closer to the outside, our mistake lol). For some reason, pasta has been hit or miss at restaurants. We were initially thinking to dine at Fumo down the block but colleagues warned us the pasta there was not good. We opted for Little Ruby's since they hyped up the spicy Italian sausage pasta which they had a while ago. Sweet potato fries- solid portion, crispy. We swapped the sweet chili sauce for truffle aioli. Creamy chicken pasta- creamy, underseasoned, runny sauce that barely stuck onto the pasta. Spicy Italian sausage pasta- very mild spice, only a small amount of italian sausage...if you didn't look close enough, you wouldn't have realized there were any. Little Ruby's has been on my list for the longest time and I was so happy to find out they opened a spot walking distance from Grand Central. If the subway is more your thing, it is a short walk from the 33rd street 6 train. My friend and I got a reservation on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is very small and we were seated fairly close to the front. This isn't the type of spot to frequent after shopping, leave your bags at home! Neither of us are the type to order an alcoholic beverage but we hadn't seen each other in a while and ordered one of the specials. The cider spritz was so refreshing! We decided to order the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and each of us ordered a pasta dish as our entree. All of them were excellent! We saved room for dessert and ordered the chocolate cake. Came for an Italian dinner, a friend of a friend suggested this establishment based on their experience - didn't realize there was a bunch of Ruby's all over Manhattan and one in Brooklyn. It's a small but quaint little eatery with barely any room to walk or squeeze by between tables. The food, presentation, and portion of the pasta dishes were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The shoestring fries were perfect not greasy for a finger dish. If I'm in other neighborhoods in the city and stumble upon a Ruby's I'll go in and try some of the other dishes on the menu. They seem to have a pretty decent-sized menu, too. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside because of the heat. However, the indoor space is on the smaller side, and the table arrangement in the center felt a bit awkward. The host asked if we had a reservation, but the place was basically empty, so why even ask? We paid a little over $30 for a smoothie and an avocado toast, which felt way too pricey for the amount of food we received. On top of that, we were charged $8 for water. Had I known the cost, I would've ordered an iced coffee or another smoothie instead. Overall, we won't be coming back. There are better spots out there with more comfortable seating, better vibes, and more reasonable portions for the price. Since this place has the same name as my sister I had to go and try it. The shrimp pasta was good and it was very busy. It's very interesting it's an Australian restaurant and they call it shrimps instead of prawns. Really can't wait to stop by when I am best in NYC my friend told me the bolognese is really good. This review is specifically for the Big Breakfast because I eat it at every Ruby's location! I keep telling myself that I should diversify and provide a more accurate review, so I will update my review if I ever end up not being a creature of habit. I think the Murray Hill location makes fantastic use of the small space they have! However, if you come at a busy time, you will be able to hear your neighbors' conversations because the tables are very close together. The Big Breakfast ($20) comes with two eggs, bacon, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, baked beans, hash brown, and sourdough toast. Everything is flavored very well, especially the mushrooms and the beans. The hash brown has been perfectly fried every time I have it, though it needs ketchup. For the tomatoes, I prefer them without the stems, and have had mixed experiences with that execution. The last time I went here, the toast was also over-toasted and seemed to not have butter on it, so it was very dry. I just think this is such a filling, tasty, and balanced meal! Service at this location has always been welcoming! I have had people check in on me each time. They give you water, so they don't need to worry about water refills. read more

Our server was nice, but didn't check in frequently. We had to ask a busboy for water. The food was really good- I got the big breakfast plate but subbed out bacon for halloumi since I don't eat meat, and our server comped that which was super nice. I also subbed the beans for avocado which was probably a crazy upcharge but it was worth it. The plate was very generous and definitely was needed for my hangover. The mushrooms were so flavorful- def a highlight of the plate. Eggs and halloumi were good, hash brown was nothing special. My matcha was excellent! Our table for two felt a bit tight and you might find yourself getting a little up close and personal with guests at nearby tables as they come and go. We kicked things off with the Butterfly Lavender Lemonade and a regular Lemonade. Both were super refreshing and a great start to the meal. The Ricotta Hotcakes come with bananas and a side of maple syrup. I'm not a fan of bananas with pancakes, but the staff was happy to switch them out for blueberries, which I really appreciated. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, but the ricotta could've used a little zing. Maybe some lemon zest or something to brighten it up. We also tried the Egg Sandwich, which had sunny-side eggs, bacon, cherry tomatoes, arugula, spicy relish, and a hash brown all stacked on a sesame bun. It was tasty and filling. It hit the spot. I'm just not sure why Ruby's is always so packed and has such high rates. Prices are kind of high for very mediocre food. Rhe service is really good once you get in and they will do what they can to accommodate dietary needs however, nothing stands out. This was my third visit. First time was for breakfast, 2nd time for lunch and this was for dinner. I was meeting up with a friend for dinner and she suggested Little Ruby's! The place is quite small but the ambiance and energy is amazing. I would first like to shout out rhe fabulous hostess who saw that I was running really low on phone battery and not only helped me find a plug, but lent me her own charger when we found out the charger I brought wouldn't work with the plug. Thank you! I ordered a lavender lemonade which was FABULOUS. Honestly one of the best drinks I've had in a long time and so needed after a long day of walking. While I didn't get pictures of either of those dishes (we were too hungry so just dug in), they were as delicious as the drink and large enough so that it also ended up being lunch for me.
