Wanted to try something different and a friend of us suggested this . Had some good reviews in google and thought of going . It's a little tough to locate. There was some construction and the name board of this restaurant wasn't visible much . Also looking at the fonts of miraj, I thought it was an Indian restaurant. Lots of space inside . Ambience was ok .. service was average too. My friends smoked the chicken and lamb kebabs . They had real good response and said the smear was soft and authentic food . Price wise it was slightly expensive but it's ok once in a while . Vegetarian was very average . Actually not much of veg options . I got veg kebabs and it wasn't worth the 20$ at all. Didn't like the taste and was very bland . Wish they had more vegetarian options with felafel or something else . Wanted to give 3 but the taste of meat made me give a 4 star . Ate here for the first time cuz I was curious about the lunch special. Now the food was pretty ok. I got charred hen skewers with brown rice and the baba ganoush. I think it tastes good and is very convenient close to work. The service folks were nice. Very receptive and did their best to make sure our tables weren't piled. Now the flavor to me was standard. I felt like I didn't get enough protein. Plus I came with a friend and I think they gave them the wrong appetizer. No worries though because at least we liked our food. Whatever that white sauce was in that small pitcher that comes with the freshly hot pita was good. Also the way they fry up some fries, tasted real good and crispy the entire time I was eating them. I wish they came at the same time as our lunch order but that's our fault. If you want Persian, a lunch special, and something nearby to walk to from the office, I'd come here. Our first time receiving food from this for the office. Requested specific instructions due to severe allergies for certain staff dairy free, seafood allergy, When someone is requesting dairy free meals or vegan meals... butter has dairy. We have a staff member severely sick. We called the place and asked if they put butter in anything since we did not see any cheese... the staff member said yes in the rice. I began to elevate my voice and explain that it is dairy and he disconnected the line. Your location has to be mindful of allergies and can kill someone if you don't know if something has dairy you can too google or read the ingredients to be sure prior to serving a guest. We hope the staff member is ok and recovers back to his health despite this catastrophe. You should add allergies on your website as well "may contains" etc etc... read more

I was very surprised to see how few Persian restaurants there are in Manhattan. We have many more in our city, and I have tried many of them, not just in my city, but several other cities, smaller than Manhattan. So, I was surprised at the quality of the food at this place. The bread was whole wheat pita which was nicely toasted, and probably pretty healthy but I have had much better bread at most other Persian restaurants. Also, there was no sabzi included with the bread, which is typically brought out with the bread at most Persian restaurants that I have been too, but it was an extra $8 item on the menu here. My friend got one of the lunch specials. She liked the ground beef kebab, but the Shirin saffron rice was not very good and she left most of it. It seemed to have more of a tomato-like flavor than saffron and it was mushy. I ordered a three appetizer combo with Sabzi, Kashke bademjan and Spinach Borani. A couple of menu-stated items were missing from the Sabzi: Radishes, mint, basil. The other two items were not very good either. I have had all 3 of these items at other Persian restaurants and all were much better there. I was also surprised that the waiter didn't seem to want to bring me more bread. The three starters that I ordered should have automatically come with bread because they are the type of food that you would naturally eat with something like bread. I would gladly have paid extra if that was suggested. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. We came in hoping for a good Persian meal and left very disappointed. read more

For midtown, this was a steal. The special comes with your choice of meat with basmati rice - beef kebab, chicken kebab, cornish hen kebab, vegetarian kebab, fish, and more. We opted for the beef kebab and the lamb kebab and felt that they were good choices. The two meats were moist and very juicy. The basmati rice was nice too - light and fluffy like it should be. You also get grilled vegetables, a pita, and an appetizer with the special. We chose the eggplant ratatoui and the hummus. The hummus was slightly better and went great with the pita bread. Absolutely looooooved this place and it has beat out my former favorite halal/Mediterranean spot. We ordered a combo plate, expecting it to be fit for one person, and ordered beef stew with yellow peas. We were very very wrong about the portion for the combo plate - it was huge! It came with chicken, beef, ground beef skewers and a lot of delicious rice. We were also given warm pita on the side. It made for a delicious dinner! The chicken was delightfully charred, so juicy and flavorful. The beef was great, not chewy, and good. My favorite of the three was the ground beef one. Was expecting a lot more. Got the Chicken Barg dinner as takeout, came as pictured with a sliver of roasted tomato, a mini whole wheat pita, ranch, and a small garden salad side. Food was fresh, but it was cold by the time it got to me. Also, was not happy to see that my dish was served with 1/4 of a tomato... is this supposed to be an attempt at an aesthetic garnish? This isn't traditional Persian hospitality, where you can usually expect a skewer or at least a few full pieces of onions and tomatoes and peppers along side the kabob and rice. Usually it's also customary to have a plate of herbs and radish served with a side of bread and butter as a complimentary start to the meal. Not sure how I feel about this place overall...wasn't bad but wasn't to die for. Ultimately indifferent toward it. I am sorry to give a poor review. The menu is tantalizing, and I ordered fessenjun and baklava for delivery. There is another Persian restaurant in the neighborhood that I usually go to. The fessenjun was disappointing. The sauce was thin and there were only five small pieces of chicken. I had to fill up on the baklava, which was good though very sweet.
