The best Indian food in the Eden Prairie area! We've catered from here and also order their butter chicken and boneless biryani regularly. The food isn't overly spicy, but it's packed with layers of flavor. The meat is always incredibly moist with a subtle smoky taste that really elevates every dish. I tried some new-to-me Indian dishes, including the Onion Dosa and the Methi with chicken. The Methi was delightful, medium spice made my scalp prickle and my nose run which is a success for me! The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and meaty not at all dry. The sauce was deeply flavorful and rich. The Onion Dosa was a waste of money. It's about two feet long and disappointingly stuffed with chopped RAW red onions. No bueno, they fell out of the piece I cut and got everywhere. I ate a little bit and it went into the compost bin. The crepe itself was flavorle The Butter Chicken was fantastic, perfect spice level for me, the chicken succulent and tender, the sauce flavorful and delicious. There was a weird little cold soup of some kind of veg - I could only identify carrot - tasted sour and was not edible. Not sure what it is, it's not on the menu. So A+ on the Methi and Butter Chicken, F on the dosa. Portions are large, I'll be eating the two mains for days. Rice portion is huge. read more

I have not been to the restaurant, but was a guest at the 57th OSA convention, where they catered food for nearly 900 registrants. The food was neither the best nor the worst; it was just average quality, but the quantity was questionable. Additionally, some ISH team members were very rude and disrespectful when a particular dish was finished. One case in point was Lassi during the snacks, which finished in about 30 minutes and the guy serving, calling himself the manager, was extremely rude to out-of-town visitors. He was not at all a representative of "Minnesota Nice." It was rather a display of "Minnesota Rude" in his tone and tenor. In my view, food quality, quantity, and polite service are all necessary ingredients for the restaurant to succeed. read more

Went for lunch buffet and was satisfied with the options. There were a lot of rice and starch options as well as sauces to top the rice. The naan could've been better, it was a little chewy and dry, but I think that's just part of providing a bread option at an open buffet format. The chicken legs were spicy enough -- I like spice and even for me the spice level accumulated. The service was good -- I was welcomed, seated, and water refilled. While the restaurant was not packed, it was full of patrons dining in and picking up takeout orders. It seemed to be a nice flow. It was fragrant, spicy, and creamy. There was a decent amount of fish and went well with the rice. - Vegetarian Samosa (2/5). This was quite disappointing. There were only two pieces and it was a little bare bones in terms of flavor and substance. - Naan (3.5/5). Good but needed more bread. Their Kodi Vepudu is a must have! We found the dish flavorful and fried to perfection. It was a great way to start our dinner, a perfectly cooked chicken dish. We also tried the Shrimp Pepper Fry and Chicken 65. The former was tasty and the latter felt like Vepudu in 65 sauce. Their Mutton Pepper Fry Biryani stood out for us. The rice was well done with loads of Ghee and tasted great. The Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani was also good but comes second to the mutton in terms of taste. I went here with a friend after wanting to try an Indian Buffet in the twin cities area. A coworker of his recommended India Spice House. The food was pretty good. There was a decent variety of vegetarian options. My friend wished there were more meat options, especially for the price. The buffet was $25. The most we've ever paid for a lunch buffet! The staff were nice and answered questions on some of the items on the buffet that we were unsure about ingredients on. The place was pretty clean. Overall not a bad place to eat, although I've had better. My main reason for the current rating is honestly the price for what we received. The food is absolutely delicious! My friends and I came here for dinner and I forgot to take pictures, but we ordered the vege samosas, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, the house special, and lamb josh. Absolutely delicious!!!!! I love seeing that many of the folks that were eating here are Indian residents living in the area as well, that's how you know that the restaurant is authentic and gives a homey taste. If you are put off by lunch buffets, I think India Spice House might change your mind. We came here for a work related lunch with a group of eight people. The place is huge and we were easily seated at large table. There is a main dining area and also space in back. I had no idea that this place was this big looking at it from the strip mall entrance. You can order off the menu or go for the massive buffet. Which of course we all did. The selection of foods was pretty amazing. They don't skimp on anything here with all kinds of chicken, fish and vegetarian options. There is a fried cauliflower dish that was so good. At least four different kinds of rice was available the day we were there. And naan which was fresh and continually replenished. You can kind of tell the heat level of the dishes by looking at the number of chiles or the amount of chili oil present. Some dishes were hot and everything was really well seasoned. This buffet is a super way to try a number of things and then get more of what you like. And there is dessert buffet as well! Lots of fresh fruits and a mango cake that was delicious. I ordered the aloo benda, onion kulcha, raita, and chicken vindaloo. The aloo benda was on point. The potato/pea mixture was nicely spiced as was the mint chutney. The tamarind chutney was a little disappointing as no one flavor stood out from the others. I thought the entree portion was slightly more generous than other Indian restaurants I've been to. I ordered mine medium spicy. Unfortunately, there was a spice they used while cooking that was very overwhelming. It gave the dish heat, but didn't provide anything but heat. The chicken and potatoes were both well cooked. The onion kulcha was cooked well and had a nice amount of cilantro to compliment the bread. Raita was very good as well--the thinner kind which I prefer...and an appropriate amount of cucumber and onion. The carrots were in chunks--I favor shredded, but it wasn't a detracting factor. The service team was very thorough in checking on me through my meal, keeping my water glass filled, and providing appropriate containers to box up my leftovers. Trying India Spice House where buffet after learning about this offering and this place from attending a Yelp event a few weeks ago. We met up with a friend and took our three year old and 1.5 year old along. We were the second party to arrive at opening time and they were not ready for us to go through the buffet as they were still getting things ready and taking a video of the food. From a glance, they had a nice selection of vegetarians and non vegetarians. There were a few more dishes that were not at the tasting event and there were some at the tasting that was not on the buffet like the somosa or the mango lassi. I had told our friend about it and he said they have the mango lassi available all the time, you just need to ask for it. So he went up to the counter and ask for three glasses but when the guy brought it out, he took it to the wrong table. They had chai and a "milk shake" beverages available on the buffet. My three year old love the chai so much she had three cups and says it was so tasty. I gave the milk shake a try and was pleasantly surprised it had a nice hint of jackfruit flavor. It was not thick like a yogurt smoothie but thin like regular milk. It wasn't too sweet and was good. The vegetarian dishes were mostly offered as a mash up dish. I think there were sweet and savory but I wasn't sure if the vegetarian dishes were different kinds of beans being mashed. They didn't have signs above the dishes to say what it was on one side. The side facing the entrance had labels written on the glass to say what it was but not much explanation. They had two kinds of chicken biryani: one spicy and one not. They had fried rice as well as plain white rice. There a few type of bread options with the naan bring too crispy any I didn't like it because it was hard to use to grab the food when the naan is so crispy. I had the breakfast fried bread pieces instead since it was soft and easier to eat. I like the Indian "pancake" even though it was savory, I enjoyed it. I was disappointed in only one kind of fruit on the salad bar available and no chicken drummies that are usually available at other Indian buffets. I don't care for canteloupe and that was all that was available. A small option for salads. Two different kind kind of desserts. I tried the dessert with little pieces of angel hair spaghetti is what it seemed like. I like the noodles dessert. It was not too sweet.I didn't try the dessert with the little white balls that is made of rice or another kind of flour. Overall, I thought the buffet had a nice amount of food offerings but I couldn't eat or that it didn't look appealing to me so I are what I knew. Service was ok. We didn't get our waters refilled and no one came by to ask if everything was ok or if we wanted something else to drink besides water. The staff were very quick to take our empty plates away. I didn't like that there were dirty plates in the plate cart and it was cleared out. It's nice to know that there's an Indian option when I'm in Eden Prairie but I feel the buffets at Tandoor in Bloomington and Bay Leaf in Eagan are better and I'm only comparing the lunch buffet food. I don't know if these two places offer weekend buffets but felt the food was more flavorful and had a nice balance of southern and northern Indian food available. read more

Total hole in the wall curryhouse tucked beside an Indian grocery store. It looks like they do a good buffet, but I came for dinner. It's a fairly small restaurant and was almost at capacity when I visited. The service wasn't great but not rude, more or less what you expect from this type of establishment. The waiter did forget to bring out our mango lassis, but it ended up being alright in the end because we were so full up. We ordered the murgh makhani, paneer biryani, poppadoms, and peshwari naan (as always!). The murgh makhani was absolutely stunning, one of the best I've had in the US. The paneer biryani was very good too, though not as awesomely spicy and flavorful as the biryani I had at Indian Masala in Maplewood. The portions of both dishes were generous for the price. The peshwari naan was good: I appreciated the inclusion of cherry, but it could've been a little breadier. The only thing I didn't love were the poppadoms, which had a bit of an unpleasant odor that I guess came from the oil they were fried in. This, along with Indian Masala, are to date the best Indian restaurants I have tried in the Twin Cities. Both are a bit rough around the edges however, perhaps suiting takeaway better than dining in. For this reason, I will keep on trying new Indian restaurants until I can honestly award five stars! read more

We had a large takeout order a few weeks ago for guests and the food was great. The Tandoori Chicken and naan were fresh. This time we ordered for just 2 of us and picked up the food just after they opened for the evening. I think we might have gotten leftovers from lunch. The Tandoori chicken was soggy - but still very flavorful - and the naan was cold and some parts were dried out and crunchy. We'll give it another try, but on a busy night and not just when they open. Hopefully we'll get something fresh. read more

Was once our favorite joint to have a good north indian food(1 year back), but the quality have been declining progressively!! Use of too much of artificial colors, especially in the paneer butter masala/paneer makhani, seems to be nowhere near improvement. Hospitality seems to be a manner only for very few staffs in this restaurant. Least to mention, also had an instance of getting a spoiled dessert(kheer) once!! India Spice House is popular Indian restaurant in Eden Prairie, very crowded place especially on weekends. To enjoy a meal here however you need to be aware of a few things 1. Weekend buffets are amazingly good. I have been here for buffet lunch on a weekday and they are surprisingly uninspiring 2. The place serves very good South Indian fare, Its a good place for standard south Indian fare like Dosas, Pongal, etc. However they try to use similar curry base for North Indian dishes which quite frankly turn out to be odd. If you're new to Indian food, don't worry, you'll enjoy it anyway. An example is Butter Chicken, It's a very popular item in my hometown, however it seemed that the chicken was simply boiled ( instead of roasted ) and the gravy it came in seemed to belong to a Korma or Malai Kofta dish. Everything is horrible, crushed bones, dry rice, greasy tasteless meat, stale fish, spoilt chutneys. I can go on. This place is a disaster, and their a food total waste, never going here again. Lacks flavor, freshness, originality, and most important of all management lacks integrity in preparing food for paying customers. Cooking decent food on one auspicious Hindu day and cooking trash the rest of the days is plain irresponsible and immature. What a missed opportunity. "Less is more" if the quality is consistent, fresh and good. This is another Indian restaurant who fails to understand this and in a classic Indian way fails to capture their American market. This place is a gem. We knew we were in the right place when (1) we looked at the menu and didn't recognize many items, even though we eat Indian often, and (2) we noticed that almost every patron in the packed restaurant was Indian. Perfect! We decided to be adventurous. We started by ordering off the chaat menu, which is only available on Friday and Saturday. We didn't know what to expect, and what we got was kind of like Indian nachos-- lentil crackers with some kind of a spicy combination of chick peas, lentils, and tamarind sauce. It was delicious. We ordered two unfamiliar entrees as well. The Hyderabadi shrimp was very good-- beautifully cooked shrimp in a sauce with a spice blend I can't even begin to describe. We also ordered a curry with a peanut sauce and green chilis that wasn't to our tastes, but that's probably because we'd reached the limits of our comfort zones. While the food was good, I was having serious buyer's remorse every time the servers walked by with dosas--giant crepes with dipping sauce that looked amazing! The service was very slow. It took us over a half an hour to get our bill. That didn't leave us much time to browse in the attached Indian foods store, which is fascinating. However, we didn't mind the wait too much because the server and everyone else in the restaurant was super friendly. We'll definitely be back. Not a great experience.... to start with some of the items are on the menu, but not available like Chaat, Thali and when we asked why is it listed if not available , the guy said we are lazy to remove it from the menu. Nevertheless , we ordered .. Rava Dosa, baby corn Manchurian and PTM. Rava Dosa was amazing but there were flies all over the place which didn't let us eat in the restaurant so we had to take it ToGo. Another party next to us had the same issue. A bug also fell in our chutney. We asked to move our table but the server said the whole restaurant has had that issue for the past two days! The Manchurian was Chewy. PTM was good. I come to this place often. Almost every weekend or sometimes take outs. The food is better than the other Indian restaurants in Minnesota and feels fresh. The reason for my three star is because of the following 1. The buffet food is always cold, doesn't matter if you go there at the opening time of buffet or at 1. 2. Food quality seems to drop few hours into the buffet, so my recommendation is go early. 3. The food is very South Indian focussed, another reason for my three star. Overall a nice place to go eat in EP. the restaurant should think about adding more varieties to their buffet over the weekend for the price they charge. Same buffet every weekend is getting boring.
