First time visiting in almost a year, mostly due to Covid. Checked google to see if they still had the buffet, and upon seeing they did, decided I'd stop by for the Hurry Curry. Every single option tasted great, but you HAVE to try the Tikka Masala, Vegetable Korma, and Spinach Pakora. I loved the previous recipe for the Chicken Tikka, but this is somehow even better. I've been to restaurants with good food and still taken off a star or three due to poor attitudes and service from the workers, but I wish I could ADD stars for the above and beyond friendliness I received here. My food SUCKED! I have been to lots of Indian places and this has been my worst experience by far. The chicken tiki masala tasted like canned tomato soup. I usually take the leftover sauce to go but I was struggling to eat it with naan and rice. Speaking of, the naan was dry, not buttered. The rice was just...rice. If I had one word to secretive this place it's BLAND. $14 down the drain. I am frankly shocked this place has as good as reviews as it does. If you want some of the best Indian food, go to chapati. Tandoori chicken was pasty and bland. It's under new ownership don't go not the same :( What upsets me the most is it used to be good under old ownership. If you ask me they should start over on reviews and all the old reviews should not count. Yum yum and yum. We started our meal w the spring rolls. They came w two sauces the green one was spicy and the tan was sweet. They were both very good. Both my husband and I got two cauliflower meals. Mine was #65. It was soooo good. We both got mild spicy but his seemed to be a bit more on the spicy side. The meals are served w jasmine rice which is cooked to perfection. The cauliflower w both our meals was so tender you could just cut it w a fork. We got one Taj Mahal beer that was $6.99. It was a large beer but nothing special tasting. The naan is an extra charge but worth it. Many different types but we went for the garlic. Overall the food is great. I've updated my review for this particular restaurant. It was previously owned by other people who's prices on each item was outrageous and did not justify for the quantity or it's flavors. The new owners are super humble, generous in portion and reasonably priced. I've already returned far more times than my wallet has allowed but am hoping they stay in business for a long time. Below average in my opinion. - vegetable biryani- good (nice flavour and good amount veg) - butter chicken - not nice. Tasted like cream and ketchup with chilli pepper. - Veg Korma - not nice. Didn't rate like Korma at all. More like a variation of the butter chicken sauce. Had large chunks potatoes and didn't have ingredients per the menu (e.g. raisins). Seems they just give you whatever - chicken masala - average flavour, just over salted. Chicken quality questionable. - pop arrived with a dirty glass. I ate a goat, and I liked it! Oh my goodness. After trying to get into Bru and failing miserably (they had over an hour wait time), we went back to an old favorite, India Bistro. I had been curious about trying goat for a while. I finally was ready to take the plunge. I am so glad I did! I had the goat mughlai, and it was amazing! It is goat in this creamy mushroomy broth that you pour over your rice. Oh my goodness! What took me so freaking long? If you have ever been curious about trying it, go for it! Trust me! It is tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It's not gamey or gross. My husband even enjoyed what little of a bite I would give him. Our server was great. The owner/manager? came around two or three times to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. That was so awesome. I love it when management takes an active role. It's easy to miss this quiet little place nestled in a strip mall of Perry Road but if you know where to find it you're in for some really good food. I come here about twice a month for the lunch buffet. They usually have 6-8 dishes and 2 desserts. The food is always hot and flavorful. It is served on a compartment plate which some might find unusual. As for me, I don't like my food to touch so I love the plates. I wish more buffets had them. The food is placed on the plate by the owners behind the counter so there is not yucky germs from everyone like normal buffets, which I'm totally cool with. For around $8 bucks it is the biggest bang for your buck and it never gets too busy. If dining in my favorites are the palak paneer and the tikka masala. Service is always friendly and inviting. One of the worst Indian food I ever ate. I took a take out and ordered chili chicken and mushroom mutter. There was only few pieces of chicken strips in the chili chicken, and it was filled with lots of onions and vinegar. The mushroom mutter had probably 6 to 7 slices of mushroom, and all the peas in it were raw. Both dishes had noticed and was a complete rip off. SO good! The owner cooks and his wife is the waitress and she is so unbelievably kind. The seating area itself is pretty chilly in the winter so wear an extra layer but once you get the food, you'll warm right up. It always comes out very hot and fresh. I don't know why I keep forgetting this place exists in Plainfield...but I wish I wouldn't, it is SO GOOD! My husband and I have been here a couple of times now and each visit has been great. We've tried a few dishes, their chicken tikka masala is a go-to along with their garlic naan! Mmmmmm We've also tried a vegetarian dish and a lamb dish - everything has been so flavorful and good size portions, we always leave with leftovers that re-heat well. We also get their samosas to start and they are so tasty, great flavor and perfectly cooked. We like that the serving is just two so we don't eat a ton before the actual meal. This last visit we had a mango lassi and it was delicious! I can't recommend this place enough if you're craving Indian or want to try something new! The masala dishes are my favorite, as they are just thick enough, very flavorful, and you can vary your spice level depending on your mood. I would give ten stars if I could. The first time I came here I had only tried Indian food once and it was years ago at some forgettable place on the east side of Indy, I think. Wasn't impressed. But I wanted to try again and I am SO glad I did. I have found my favorite dish, Chicken Korma. With the delicious garlic naan, the entree is enough for two or, even better, leftovers, and just as yummy the next day. I love the creamy sauce, and the cashews are a surprising and welcome addition. The spiciness is just right. And the chicken! I have been off chicken the last couple of years and normally have to be in the mood, but THIS chicken is perfection! Each chunky bite-size morsel is, as my mother-in-law used to say, "tender as a woman's heart." Aww, but it's true. I have never had such chicken! My only regret is that there isn't a branch of India Bistro in Indy since I don't get to Plainfield often enough. Maybe they will deliver? Hmmm . . . Oh, and before I forget, the staff is just great. Great service! We had multiple employees come to our table to greet us and ask how we were doing. Everyone seemed friendly and cheerful, and the food was so good! Stopped by on our way to the Plainfield Aquatic Center with my husband and toddler. My son loved the Chicken Briyani. I had the Saag Paneer and Aloo Mutter, both were delicious. The prices were so reasonable that I opted for two dishes! So much food that we will be taking some home. No complaints here. This was our makeshift anniversary dinner, and we had a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back next time we are on this side of town. Only wish we lived closer to India Bistro.
