We arrived just after noon for the luncheon buffet. The restaurant was busy but he staff was very attentive. The food was among the best I've had at any Indian restaurant in our area. The tandoori chicken was moist with a deeply rich satisfying flavor. The paneer was rich and deeply flavored. I tried each choice on the buffet and it took three trips, but everything was perfectly cooked and enjoyable. Often at buffets, some items that should be very warm aren't. All heated items were very fresh and warm. The cold items were cold. Spicy dishes weren't too spicy hot which I appreciate. I really enjoyed the garlic naan, warm, fluffy and soft. The garlic was appropriately added to give wonderful flavor without being overpowering. The mango mousse was exquisite and a perfect end to a meal that was memorable. This restaurant is truly a value! Fast food would have cost more than the buffet and there is no comparison with the freshness and taste appeal of this buffet. We will be back! read more

This is one of our favorite Indian restaurants in Seattle. We love the lunch buffet with a great variety of vegetarian and non-veg dishes. The restaurant was pretty nice, service was good. Ordered Mango Chicken, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, and Mango Mousse. The Mango Chicken was very good, but the chicken was a bit dry. Butter Chicken was good. The Naan wasn't like the others I've eaten at different Indian restaurants, so was a bit disappointed. Very good Indian food, and good service. The prices are quite reasonable by Seattle Indian restaurant standards. I've tried the Navratan Korma, Mattar Paneer, and Aloo Gobi. All very good, with plentiful helpings. Their definition of medium-spicy is perhaps just a bit on the spicy side. Good, quite buttery, naan. The veg samosas are excellent, with good mint and tamarind chutneys. I liked the masala chai, and they were quite attentive in providing refills. I have only been to the buffet once - and it was the dinner buffet. There were several good vegetarian selections, fine appetizers, and good raita. Price again quite reasonable. read more

I visited this place for the 3rd time. First time, was driving by and stopped for the lunch buffet. It was delicious and prices very reasonable (in Seattle!). Second time, could not find this restaurant and ended up in "Taste of India" on the same road Roosevelt which was (1). So expensive (2). The main dish- chicken curry for take-out for so small. They filled the boxes with rice and naan and cut down on qty of chicken curry (3). Even though they call themselves "Taste of India", is actually a non-Indian place run by non Indians. Finally found the India Bistro after good hunting and was super delighted. Ordered "Fish Tikka" which was super delicious and ordered chicken curry which was a good portion. If you are looking for some appetizers, I would highly recommend their Fish Tikka. I'm a good cook myself. This place is truly Indian food cooked by Indian chefs (hence the name India-Bistro) and Indian authentic place. Staff is friendly. I just wish they had more parking! Will visit again and again. The first time I ordered food here it was great. Especially the Butter Chicken & Calamari. However, the second time I ordered those same dishes, it was disgusting. The Chicken was grainy and bland and the calamari tasted sour & bitter. I also found a hair in the butter chicken second time I ordered. read more

I chose this restaurant because it had good reviews and they deliver, however, delivery took nearly 1.5 hours. We only live 1.5 miles away, which is an 8 min drive. Everything tasted the same and the pakora and calamari were mushy by the time it got to us. The cheese patty dessert was so sweet we couldn't eat it. I was pleasantly surprised by how large the portions were here- it was a great value. My chicken tikka masala lasted me three meals! The meat was also of good quality, no gristle or fatty pieces. They are serious about the spice level here - you order hot and you get hot! The biryanis here are excellent. They also have a nice selection of house cocktails; try the clove martini, it is unusual and delicious! Really good for larger groups too. Wonderful service and all around nice people. read more

We went there for the lunch buffets. While, Indian food buffets are abundant, I usually don't expect more than some warm food quick. We were there near the end of the lunch and the food was still amazing! Everything tasted so fresh, nothing dried out or near the bottom of the pan. The butter chicken and the black eyed peas were both very very good. I always expect the buffets to be mediocre but do the job, this went way beyond. They bring you a basket of naan to your table and the bill for two people, before tip, came to $15.21 If this is there buffet, i can't wait to try the dinners! read more

I didn't taste a big difference between this place and another favorite nearby. I'm a fan of the buffets for Indian food because I really want to try a bit of everything plus dessert so I love they offer it at lunch time (the price is very reasonable too). We went to the lunch buffet again today, and we were a little disappointed. The food was not nearly as tasty, and it was much more spicy. I didn't see one of the cooks that I saw last time which may explain the difference in taste. Not sure why I haven't reviewed this little gem yet.. India bistro is my favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle! Butter chicken is my staple at any Indian place. Butter chicken here is so creamy and bursting with flavor. I love that they serve their dishes over candles so they remain boiling hot throughout dinner. I also like that you can substitute rice for naan if you wish. I love the starchy Basmati rice but I equally love naan, something my hips appreciate! I've been to their lunch buffet and Sunday dinner buffet and I also like them a lot. They have a good selection of meat dishes and vegetarian dishes. Varying degrees of spiciness too. I love the mango mousse for desert. For drinks, I usually get the chai or mango lassy, which is great here too. A word on customer service: while they are not the most bubbly and cheerful people I've seen, I've never received bad customer service and they were always able to accommodate our large groups fairly fast and drama-free As a final word, I'd say quality-wise they are just as good as the famous Indian restaurant in northgate but probably a couple of bucks cheaper per plate.. 5 stars because for $7 you get all you can eat lunch TO GO. As someone who cannot ever finish a dish, let alone get my money's worth for a buffet, I appreciate that they allow me to take one to go box for CHEAPER than the eat-in price! I do drive 15 miles just to pick up a to go box of their food, so unfortunately I don't get it often. I love the butter chicken. They used to have this coleslaw salad dish I loved but I haven't seen it recently. I still love their food. The buffet is small compared to some places, but for the price and flavor, it cant be beat. Other places I have been too either don't allow take out for the buffet or if they do, they charge more! Plus, there isnt bone in their dishes. I have been to a couple places that had bones in their butter chicken, which is an awful surprise. read more

I went to this restaurant while visiting Seattle this past summer and absolutely loved it. I tend to visit Indian places that have buffets more often than not, as I am not very familiar with the food. This buffet was so spectacular. Everything was pleasantly spicy, the naan sort of had a garlic taste which was a nice change from regular naan. The wait staff was so friendly. Very good lunch buffet. The curries are what I consider very mild. It was a quick easy food stop but could easily be a fancier evening out.

We really enjoyed lunch buffet. All the food on the buffet was hot and tasty, the naan bread brought to the table was right out of the oven. The place was clean and the service very good - can't ask for more! Is it too much to call this place perfect? The staff are attentive and always very friendly. It's decorated closer to a fine dining restaurant with much nicer ambience than the cheap prices would lead you to believe. The food is always delicious. My husband and I go here more often than any other restaurant in Seattle and I've never had a bad experience. Oh, and they aren't afraid to give me spice. I like it hot and it's always spicey without being too painful. We used to live in Magnolia and go to the India Bistro in Ballard, then we moved... we were so happy to have moved close to another India Bistro. Love this place! read more
