Kerala Goat Bone-In Curry and Kerala Fish (Boneless) Curry (Spicy)
    Arielle M.

*4/5 because portion sizes were small - less meat, more curry *3/5 for spice was perfect for me First time trying a southern Indian restaurant and I can say I prefer roti over naan. I like the flaky, butteriness of it more. The fish and goat curry we tried were a thinner, more soup-like consistency than what I'm used to with curry. WITH THAT SAID, it's the perfect consistency to be soaked up by the roti and rice. I preferred the fish curry more - the fish practically melted in my mouth! The place was lively on a Friday evening and has bright red decorations throughout the restaurant. Overall, it's on the smaller side so not many staff running around. Probably saw only 2 people on the floor. There is a bathroom. On the more expensive side, but there is no other place like it in the area, so it was well worth it!

Overall good flavorful food. Service is slow. The atmosphere is nice since it's along a buzzing street near University. Level of spice can be decided from 1-5 before ordering, that works out best. The mutton thali was really good. Chettinad chicken was delicious. Fish thali was okay, fish curry served could be fried fish instead.

South Indian cuisine in near the University. It was never in my list until my brother found it on google and mentioned they serve Kerala food. After a long day in Seattle downtown, we decided to have our dinner from here. First of all, there's only street parking and it's incredibly difficult to find one. There was a paid parking lot near by and I parked there. The restaurant was open, but empty when we walked in. Around 10 tables, a small place comparing to the other Indian restaurants. Very neat and clean. First impression was good. Their menu do have plenty of South Indian delicacies. A few of them are Kerala food as well. It was refreshing to see Veg and Non-Veg Thali options. We ordered a Dahi Vada for starters. Ordered a Veg Thali, Non-Veg Thali and the Kerala Goat curry with Chappati. The lady who helped us with the order was very friendly. The wait time was incredibly long. Almost 15-20 mins for the food to start arriving. Not sure what was that delay all about. But it was kind o frustrating. The food was very decent. Liked the Veg Thali options and it was very delicious. Can't say the same about the Non-Veg Thali. A few items stood out - common items from the Veg Thali. The non-veg curry was Chicken and it was not good. Lacked the flavor. The Goat Curry was ok, but definitely not the Kerala style. The Chappatis served on the side were not fresh - frozen ones warmed up! Quantity for the items were decent. But the price was very high. I don't think the food and the quantity justifies anything that served on that day. Even though the first experience was below par, I am willing to go back and try more just because they do have so many varieties on their menu. Hopefully they will sort out the delay and quality of the food by then!

I love love LOVE the food here, anything you get will always be amazing - my favorites are the saag paneer curry and the paneer masala dosa. Their samosas and biryani are also great. The restaurant is decorated with cute hearts all over and the service is always very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend! There's usually always at least one table open but they are a small restaurant.

Authentic South Indian food on the Ave that is not to be missed! Their Special Goat (bone-in) Curry Thali was a feast for the senses and so worth ordering. The Mysore Masala Dosa came in a generous portion and was crispy and loaded with potato! Every item was so flavorful but though we requested 3/5 spiciness (the lowest level) for both, the heat in every bite made our eyes water. This was definitely an experience for the taste buds. They were very busy and short staffed at dinnertime on a Friday night so service was rather slow. Despite this, I will definitely return, hungry for more! Tip: They offer a discount of 10% off a total bill of $10+ for UW Students, seniors and people with disabilities.

Masala Dosa and Mango Chicken Curry
    Sandy N.

Really love this restaurant for its authentic Southern Indian food and the enhanced spices of the food! I got the Mango Chicken Curry with Mango Lassi and my boyfriend got the Masala Dosa. Both dishes were rich in flavor and spices. The Masala Dosa was filled with potatoes and it was pretty spicy. It was also served alongside a little soup and two sauces. Those paired nicely with the Dosa. The Mango Chicken Curry was served in a tin bowl with the paratha and basmati rice on the outside. The paratha was very nice and flaky, which tasted well with the curry. This is technically my second time going here since 2021 and the food is very consistent. I remember the first time I came here I got 5-star spice, that was my mistake. Learning from that experience, I got 3-star spice this time and I definitely had a pleasant time afterwards. Overall, restaurant is nice and cozy and I didn't really have a bad experience with the servers, but one of the servers accidentally mistook me for another customer and apologized for there being peanuts (there was not peanuts in my food).

    83. Goat Bone-In Thali ($22.99 ish)
    Wendi K.

4.5 Stars According to my friend, the only South Indian food restaurant in Seattle! HUGE menu variety - proteins (chicken, lamb, goat, fish, etc.) and types of dishes (thalis, dosas, etc.). Cozy interior (it was super decked out for Valentine's day!) I didn't get a picture of the menu and can't find the prices online so the below are estimates based on what i can remember. -Bone-In Goat Curry Thali ($22.99): LOVED all the little components! The goat pieces were tender and the curry had just the right amount of heat. I loved the roti too. -Paneer Dosa ($11.99): Different from what I imagined, thin crispy crepe stuffed with spiced potatoes and shredded paneer (I thought it would come with paneer chunks) -Mango Lassi ($4 maybe?): Nice and creamy and frothy Everything was incredible fragrant / spiced. Staff was attentive, with just a bit of sass ;).

    Coconut lamb curry

Wow, this is now one of my favorite spots for Indian cuisine. It is nice to have places that specialize in South Indian food as most Indian restaurants in the US tend to be North Indian based. I ordered the coconut lamb curry and oh my the flavor was so memorable. I liked how in addition to coming with rice, the curry also came with a few pieces of paratha, thus making the price a better deal for what you are getting. Warning though, the curry was very spicy. I ordered 3 stars out of 5 and it still felt pretty spicy It's also nice to have attentive servers who checked in regularly despite how busy the restaurant was on a weekend afternoon. The space is really small though so smaller parties or one on one dining is better for here! The space was still decorated for valentines day even though it long passed!

    59. Thali Chicken
    Kimmy L.

I used to love Chili's, but my last takeout visit was unfortunately just a miss. I ordered a veggie Thali and chicken dosa ahead of time on Door Dash, but my food wasn't ready on time and I waited at least fifteen minutes for my food. The first thing I noticed was that they weren't very generous with the four topping curry; it was mostly just a pile of rice. The soup, chicken dhosa, and paratha were good, but half way through my meal I realized they forgot the main dish... the veggie Thali. It was too late to go back and I'm not sure if they forgot it or tried to substitute the soup for the Thali (the soup was in the Thali sized container), but regardless, it just wasn't in the bag. Overall: 3/5 for service, 3/5 for food

    Chicken pakora
    Varsh P.

I have been to this place years ago. It was run by only 3 people then and the food tasted like home cooked food. When I went there this time the location and changed and looked well kept. It's not too big. Students come there a lot looks like. We ordered chicken pakora and the meat looked like old stock and smelled bad. There was no coating of pakora. The smell made me feel the oil in which they fried has been reused multiple times. It was nothing like a pakora. We also ordered non veg thali. The thali was good. Came with one chicken curry rest everything was vegetarian. The taste of the curries was good.Personally not a fan of chicken at this place anymore. Mango lassi was okay had a strong flavor of rose essence. Service was quick. Nothing fancy about the place in general.

I'm not sure what happened on my last visit as the curries were on the colder side. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult, there is a small parking lot out front, if that's full you'll need to find street park. The restaurant itself feels warm, casual, and bustling. Queen you walk in you have the option to sit on the backyard patio or in the dining room. We opted to sit in the dining room as it just felt more intimate and the vibe we were wanting for dinner. For our appetizer, we started with the Samosas (Two crispy pastries filled with your choice of freshly mixed vegetables or delicately spiced lean ground beef) which were excellent. Next we ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. The naan and samosas showed up piping hot but the chicken tikka masala & butter chicken were cold. I probably should have said something as I was disappointed but was too hungry to care at that moment. If I'm in the Seattle area I may stop by Taste of India again.
