Our family split the butter chicken and chicken tiki masala, and both were amazing. We had a double order of garlic nan, also excellent. The girls finished off with some mango ice cream. Ordered take out on a busy Sunday evening, Memorial Day Weekend (I called our order in around 6:30 pm and was told 35 min). Service was fast and friendly when I arrived to pay, and our order was correct. Our order consisted of vegetable samosas, garlic naan, and chicken tikka masala. They included two dipping sauces for our vegetable samosas, and a large styrofoam to-go container of basmati rice. All of our food was delicious! I also appreciated that our chicken tikka masala plastic take out bowls and lids were tightly Saran wrapped as well, so it traveled just fine on the way back to our resort without making a mess. A surprising discovery in the land, for someone who lives on the West Coast, and likes Indian food. The food was excellent, so was the service. The entrees weren't cheap, but it was worth it. The only item that I would suggest changing is the mango lassi. Fantastic service, nice ambiance and good quality food. It's a small joint, but we sat down immediately upon walking in. We ordered papadam and cheese naan to start, and Lamb Korma and Lamb Vindaloo as the entrees. Both my wife and I agreed that the flavor of each entree was different than the same dishes that we've had at our favorite Indian places, but the spice blend was still enjoyable despite not being what we expected. Only disappointment was that they were completely out of Indian beer. If I go to an Ethiopian restaurant, I want an Ethiopian beer, much like I wanted a Kingfisher Beer here. We were really excited to see an Indian restaurant in Branson but were a little disappointed at how "touristy" the experience turned out to be. The manager was very pushy about us ordering more appetizers and other drinks that we were not interested in. Throughout the meal it felt as if he was trying to up-sell us which did not feel like genuine customer service. I had the Malai Kofta which was a suggestion from the manager but wished I would have gone with with my first choice, the Chana Masala. The Malai Kofta was good but not the best I have had. When asked what spice level I wanted the dish to be, I asked for spicy but the dish was very mild. My dad had the Shrimp Vindaloo and really enjoyed his. He said the dish was flavorful and would order it again. I would suggest going here if you're craving Indian food while in Branson. read more

Visiting Branson had been a great experience until ordering takeout food from India clay oven. I ordered curry, naan and pakora and didn't get the white rice that was supposed to come with the meal. I got all the way back to the hotel and was dropped off with no transportation back to India clay oven (5 min away) and discovered the rice wasn't in the bag. When I called there they proceeded to argue with me that they had put rice in the bag. Mind you this was after the first person who answered the phone stated he verified they hadn't put the rice in the bag and asked what hotel I was at. Another person got on the phone and told me the rice was in the bag on repeat. What bag were they referring to? Very disappointing experience!!!!! TL; DR: this place is legit. I travel a lot. For awhile, one of my coworkers (who is Indian and grew up in India) would take us to a place in Manhattan where he knew the owner. That place was amazing. This place (Clay Oven) blows it out of the water in every way, with the possible exception of its mediocre location in a strip mall along hwy 76. In Branson, MO of all places. Lamb Vindaloo was perfectly spiced. A nice, slow burn that didn't overwhelm the flavors but had a light sweat breaking out. Chicken tikka was rich and tender. Saag paneer creamy and complex. And the naan was fresh and charred just right from the tandoor oven. If you are anywhere near Branson and don't eat here, you are doing your taste buds a great disservice. read more

My sister and I arrived early for a family vacation in Branson, so we decided to go someplace a little more exotic before we had too many tastes to appease. We settled on the India Clay Grill. It's located in a strip mall in between a beef jerky store & a place with confederate flags in the windows, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Inside, they've made an effort to cultivate an Indian feel, and while successful you still know you're in a strip mall. The service was very good as with many family restaurants, with an older and younger man serving us graciously throughout the meal. My sister had a mixed grill - chicken, sausage, vegetables - and I had lamb masala. The sauce for the masala was very good and the lamb was fine but it wasn't as tender as some I've had. The mixed grill was well spiced and cooked too. The star of the show to me was the naan. We ordered two kinds as appetizers, got some with our meals, and got two more to go. Naan is like a flatbread, with spices and other things cooked into it. They cook it right in the back and serve it fresh in several varieties. The cheese naan was my favorite. We tried their hot tea and a couple of desserts but I wasn't really impressed with any of that. If you're in Branson and looking for something a little different, I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out. They'll treat you like family, give you as much or as little spice as you want, and fill your belly with delicious naan. That's a win in my book! read more
