My husband and I decided to stop here for lunch, and I'm so glad that we did. We were immediately greeted with a smile and sat at a table. The server asked if we wanted to order from the menu or the lunch buffet. I had no idea what was being served at the lunch buffet, but I knew for sure I wanted to taste the curry goat. The curry goat as an entree was $19.99, and the lunch buffet was $17.99. The server suggested that my husband and I try the buffet so we could taste everything, and that we order from the menu next time I visit. I'm so happy she suggested that. The menu itself was big and it had so many things to chose from . Now lets talk about this lunch buffet, but before I do that, let me share that, I shared with the server that I didn't want to go look at the buffet options because I didn't want to look at the food and others get the wrong idea, so she took the liberty of walking me to the buffet and showing me each item, detailing what it was and the flavor it encompassed, I can't express how much I appreciate her doing that. The buffet menu had so many great options, including chicken masala, curry goat, and so much more. The curry goat was my favorite, the meat was so tender and the flavors were infused perfectly. Ordered here via DoorDash. Having never had Indian food I played it safe mainly - sticking to the usual staple items of naan, tiki masala and rice. My order was for chicken tiki masala, basmati rice, garlic naan, cheese naan, and a side of tiki masala sauce. The order came as quick as it would allow - with my ordering right at open. I must say - this food was very good. The chicken tiki masala I ordered at a 3/10 heat level and it had just that - a nice spice to it without burning my face off. The chicken chunks were nice and tender - and the extra side of the sauce was perfect for dipping. The naan. I think I could eat naan everyday of my life. Fluffy flatbread that hugs the chicken and extra sauce, and the garlic and cheese variants were so damn good. Wow. Hallelujah! Good Indian Food in Abingdon, Bel Air. After a busy day shopping, we stopped here. A neat and well appointed restaurant, the gracious host seated us and explained the menu. This may sound wrong, but it's a good sign when you see diners of the menu's ethnicity. We were served what seemed like Chana Dahl with three delicious sauces. For an appetizer we shared vegetable samosas. The mashed vegetable mixture was fluffy and delicious. We also shared Garlic Naan. An important and positive note: the server asked how hot (spice wise) we wanted our meals on a 1-10 scale. This was welcome as I don't like my food very hot whereas my wife prefers more heat. Our main entree meals followed our wishes. My wife had Lamb Vindaloo, well sauced with Rice. I had the Tandoori Mixed Grill, a collection of Tandoori chicken, chicken kebab and Tiger Shrimp. All the pieces were cooked perfectly and seasoned as I expect Tandoori. The servers were not overbearing and it was a pleasant experience. We had leftovers, every drop consumed. 10/20/2025 Was just looking for a quick bite while running errands in the area with a friend. We started with some crispy cracker type with sauces which went really my cup of tea but it was a nice touch while we waited for our food. We split everything with enough to take home for one nice portion size. The tandoori mixed grill was my favorite with the sauce they put on the table the shrimp and tandoori chicken. The kabob was a bit dry but nothing the sauce couldn't cover on a bed of veggies. The Lamb Nilgiri Korma was good as well had more bone then meat again loved the sauce over the rice. It's in a shopping strip of the festival center/bel air with many other businesses, but at 4p on a Friday i easily found parking A family 4 were in the corner and i was the only other diner, 2-3 Uber eats/to-gos while I was there Basic 4 seater tables and in the back, a set up for buffet lunch, not a huge restaurant but sufficient Papadum (2 pieces of the "black pepper cracker) and the traditional 3 "spreads" came immediately along w water I started with vegetable pakora..slightly tough to cut-but I think it was a dull knife. They were pleasantly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside When ordering the lamb I was asked how spicy?, and due to (language barrier) when I thought I was asking for the spiciest (3 out of 3), after the fact I learned it was 3 of 10. So a bit disappointed in the heat. Fairly tender, 4 chops arrived atop a bed of sizzling onions, and alongside came about 2cups of basmati rice. Tender enough, they weren't "fall off the bone", but decent. Flavor "ok", but nothing to write home about. The Marsala sauce that came aside the chops was "ok", but imo didn't pair well with the seasoned lamb..used atop the rice, and sizzling onions I guess I wasn't as hungry as I thought...brought home 2chops, 3 pakora, and half the rice The chops were "market price" and the bill came to about $35 I'll return, but maybe not for the chops...I've had them elsewhere, nearby, and for market price, I need to be more impressed Note: hand sanitizers were strategically placed around, to use bs going to the restroom ?in the rear? Attentive and welcoming! Both times we visited, we were warmly greeted at door and seated immediately. Water cups and dirty plates were tended to quickly throughout the entire meal. Bonus points for what appeared to be the owner welcoming several customers by their first names as they stopped by for lunch. Always a good sign when restaurants have regulars. Food: 5/5. The host up front greeted everyone kindly and everyone that came in got seated immediately. With the lunch rush, the servers kept up very well! Tandoori Chicken, various Curry/ Saags, Vindaloo & Tikka Massala are also rotated. Two types of rice: Basmati & Kashmiri. Quality & taste are consistent & the lunch buffet (all you care to eat) is a bargain at $13.95 vs ordering off the menu. We were staying a hotel nearby and looking for takeout and I'm so glad yelp led me to India Garden! There's a 10% discount applied to online orders right now, and overall the whole meal was incredibly affordable (and delicious). We got the combination bread ($10 for 2 pieces of regular naan, 1 pieces garlic naan, 4 more pieces some sort of other flat breads), chicken tikka masala (no spice for the kids), goat curry (my favorite entree), and an appetizer. About two-thirds of the buffet is vegan, with naan, chicken curry, chicken tika masala, tandoori chicken and rice pudding to round out the offerings. I liked the slightly-spicy pakoras and the vegetable dishes, and the chicken tika masala was good, though it was a little bland, and could have been spicier. Excellent choice for Indian food!! My husband got the butter chicken with jasmine rice. We shared the paneer naan bread which was hot and delish! I'm learning as an African American it really doesn't matter how pleasant or just unproblematic you are, some ignorant people will just perceive you as a problem. This is one of those places. As a new vegetarian I came here with a friend and was super impressed by all the vegetarian options. My friend and I did not receive the warmest welcome but was offered the buffet option which we accepted. After about 10 minutes of empty glasses. We called the owner over and the asked for water. Trying to break the tension we were feeling we complimented him on the flavors of the food, asked for verification on what some of the ingredients were. Just friendly conversation about flavors and spices. He (owner) seem very flattered, I thought we were breaking the ice. The first thing he asked us was if we were new to the area from Baltimore? We replied yes but not from Baltimore. Then he went into conversation about how bad Baltimore is and why he likes it better out here. The crime rate is low and just better living. Now me and my black friend are looking at him like oh ok. No one asked but okay. I just felt uneasy about that but still tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and returned back today 2 months later. Again the food was alright STRONG ON THE ALRIGHT! But still did not like the energy! I went in on the phone (listening to a work meeting/ not talking) and asked if the the buffet was still going on. Was told yes and then TOLD he would get me a to go box. I kept feeling pushed out by the eye contact and tone. But due to being on the phone I just assumed it that. When I walked in I was greeted as if I was a hindrance. When a Caucasian female came in, she was greeted with a smile and a pleasant attitude. With COVID knocking out all of the buffets, I haven't had Indian food in months, until India Garden. It was a good return to form. My friend had the tofu saag (mostly saag, which would have been disappointing if it was paneer and I had ordered it), and her husband had the tikka masala (which also looked mostly like sauce, but I didn't examine that closely). I had the lamb kadai, and that had a good amount of meat cooked right, all tender cuts, no extra fat, no bones. I asked for it extra spicy and it actually did get me sweating a bit, which exceeded expectations. We each got a generous amount of rice, but the rice was a bit dry (slightly undercooked?) and lacked the flavor I'm used to, despite the spots of saffron yellow. The aloo paratha was good bread, soft and good flavor from the potato stuffing. The gulab jamun held their own. So in the end, I wasn't blown away, but there was nothing disappointing here so they earn a solid 4 stars. read more
