I was in the Towson area visiting my friends. After our CrossFit workout, we decided to have Indian food for lunch. This was highly recommended by one of the Indian guys I met at the CrossFit. It's a South Indian restaurant so they seem to have various options for dosa and other South Indian food. We decided to try their thali. I got the goat thali. The goat was cooked to perfection. The curry was nice and flavorful. The vegetables and lentils were delicious as well. I wish the rasam and chicken 65 were more flavorful. Rasam was bland and the chicken 65 lacked the spicy flavor. I had lunch at Sangam Indian Cuisine last week. It's fairly near my office, and I was craving some Indian food and wanted to try a place I'd never been. Sangam serves South Indian food and offers a lot of flavors and dishes that can't be found on every Indian restaurant menu: appam, dosas, thalis, Chicken Chettinad, and more. They also have every other dish you might be craving: butter chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, saag paneer, Paneer Tikka Masala... I ordered a salt lassi and their egg thali. What a great lunch. I love the opportunity to enjoy a thali - an entire meal in one dish. If you haven't had the chance to enjoy a thali before, it's a round platter used to serve a complete meal in small dishes. It typically includes a grain, dal/lentils, vegetables, raita, a dessert, and more. Sangam offers five choices: veg, egg, chicken, goat, and fish. It's great, because you get to enjoy so many different dishes in one meal - like the best personal small plates meal. I loved my egg thali at Sangam. I also really enjoyed the salt lassi. The service was very good - friendly and helpful. They didn't seem busy when I arrived (two other tables), but they seemed to do a lot of takeout business! I wasn't able to tip using the credit card machine brought to the table, and I didn't have cash to tip - I felt awful. I'll double tip next time I visit! The food here is not good Indian food, and the manager is extremely rude to the staff. Clearly this is a PATTERN as there are multiple reviews about him yelling. He repeatedly loudly yelled at the staff. I am uncomfortable supporting a business that treats employees like this. Take your business elsewhere, and avoid Sangam. read more

So I have been there twice now to have dosas, both times I was very underwhelmed. I really wanna like them but...so let's talk food. Service is excellent. First visit I had paneer dosa, it was very bland, despite asking for spicy, all they could do is add chillin on top, but it did not do anything. I think the issue is, the paneer was flavorless, it's plain grated paneer on sautéed onions. Second time, I had rava masala, potatoes were bland. Chillies didn't do anything. Both times I stressed I like it spicy so please, I thought they would understand the assignment but no. They refused to add spice in their stuffing, which to me is big because then how are you cooking things when order comes in or just slapping the pre made potatoes inside? Finally found a great south indian restaurant close to Baltimore! This was a word of mouth recommendation and we are so glad we got to check this out. The restaurant it spacious and well decorated. Service was fantastic. We tried their fish thali meal, appam and egg curry. Unfortunately we ordered too much so didn't get a chance to try what they're reportedly known for - dosa! Next time :) The fish thali meal was really great. I loved all the side dishes that came with it. The only dish that was a let down was the fish curry itself. It was pretty bland and mild for my palate. The appam was big (you get two in one order) but a little too dense and sweet, compared to the appam's we usually make at home/have in India. The egg curry was a LOT of gravy, and very little egg! Would have appreciated one more boiled egg considering the disproportionate amount of gravy it comes with. The flavor was great though. I walked into this place with my wife and right away it was so bright the lightening was like walking into the lighting department at Home Depot. We were seated and looked at the extensive menu. Everything looked good and the prices were affordable. My main issue was the service. I haven't a clue what the servers name was. We had to look around to find her to order our food after a long wait. After we were done not once were we asked how anything was or if we needed anything. We had to flag her down to ask for containers. She just set the containers on our table and we packed up our own leftovers. We waited a while again not sure if she was coming back. So we got up to the front to pay for our meal. It was just odd. I never experienced service like this before. The high marks go directly to the chefs who made delicious food. Had a reservation a week in advance for dinner for two on Valentine's Day eve, 8pm. We arrived on time, they were completely unprepared despite reservation, seated us and then we sat for 30min without so much as being offered water. They seemed understaffed, but that can be remedied. Aside from being seated, we were completely ignored. Went to the Corner Stable after walking out at the 30min mark, were fed in a matter of 15mins. I lived for five years in India and have longed to find an authentic South Indian restaurant in Baltimore. Sangam is it! The dosas, idlis, and uttapams are excellent, with rich, subtle flavorings. The food is just about perfect. But Sangam is much more than that. The North Indian dishes are also superb. The Butter Chicken (or Butter Paneer) is one of the very best I've had -- including in India itself. The restaurant is unassuming, a storefront stuck next to a large grocery store. As an Indian who grew up in Cockeysville, this place is an absolute gem. Perhaps the best Indian restaurant I've been to, and the details of the dishes were perfected Currently, the entire Cranbrook plaza is undergoing renovations, so Sangam and Food Lion are the only two establishments open. Don't let this stop you from going here! The restaurant is beautiful inside, and you can tell that they put a lot of work in on the decor from the prior Peruvian establishment. Dishes include indo-Chinese, thali, biryanis, South Indian dosa specials, and a vast list of both veg and non-veg appetizers and main dishes. As someone who craves being experimental with my dishes, I ordered 2 things that I've never heard of: Eral Thokku - Dry roasted prawn with chettinad spices (10/10) Gongura Chicken Curry - Soft chicken cooked with tangy sorrel leaves, onion, ginger garlic and red chilis (comes with a large bowl of rice) (10/10) Butter Naan (some of the softest yet crispiest naan I've ever had) Sangam blows all of the other Indian restaurants in the Baltimore metropolitan area out of the water, and just opened in the last 6 months. Regardless of whether you are looking for a basic Indian dish or an authentic dish that is extra spicy, this place will perfect it and you'll leave extremely satisfied. Stopped in for some Indian dinner. Was so delicious! The dosa was accompanied by an array of beautiful chutneys that were all very flavorful along with sambar. I don't normally enjoy sambar but this was the most delicious I've ever had and I even finished it. The other standout was the malai kofta. But as I am sitting on toilet day 4, realizing I got salmonella tikka masala not salmon tikka massala, I have to cross this place off. Anyone with allergies - beware. Food is good. Service is terrible. The food was pretty good which is what we expected based on friends' recommendations. However, one of our children has a cashew allergy and this restaurant clearly does not know how to handle this - though they said they could. We've navigated this in the past by pointing it out and restaurants usually handle this well. Not here. We told them it was an issue and that we needed to avoid those dishes. They said they understood. We ordered a few things and after the food came out, they back over a few minutes later and said, "he probably shouldn't eat that" after our child had eaten some of it. They said, there isn't much cashew in it. We thought it was a one-off mistake - though a really bad one. Later, they came over and told him that he shouldn't be eating something else. This time, it was probably 5 minutes after the food was out and it was too late. Fortunately, he did not have swelling or breathing issues as in the past. We raced out of the restaurant and fortunately, he vomited up everything he had eaten and we were able to provide him with his allergy meds. Our friends payed the bill. Nothing taken off of the bill and gratuity required in full due to the group being 8 people. Everyone will have a different opinion on whether we should have gone here (we know the risks) but figured that I'd put the information out there as you cannot trust them to handle service to someone with nut allergies. read more

This is my first time coming here. The service was excellent and everyone was very attentive to our needs. There is a large vegetarian menu here with many options. My masala dosa was excellent and very filling. The onion pakoda and Sangam special chicken appetizers were not only tasty but large enough to share with 2-4 people easily. While eating, we were commenting that each dish had its own significant and special flavor. The saag paneer was also excellent.
