I love to shop here. Its a small place and organized very well. They have so many options available which I haven't found around a lot of bigger indian stores. The staff is frendly and helpful. Here's the thing. When you walk in the door, I bet you anything, the guy at the counter is talking on the phone. Not sure the language, it could be business, or personal, for sure it's consuming. He doesn't look up. If you interrupt to ask a question, he will quickly respond. But, the info may be wrong. Huh??? It happened to me. BTW, people working here don't ask you if you need help. I'm use to it now. (However, other customers can be extremely helpful if you ask.) The Bollywood soundtrack playing adds to the shopping experience. If you are gluten-free, vegan or vegetarian this is the spot for you. They have an extensive selection of both frozen and dry goods, overwhelming if you don't know what you want. Impressive for the space. A variety of beans and rice, Dahl, spices, sauces and tea, to mention a few. In the freezer you will find cheap items like Samosas, patra leaves and Chick pea cakes. All great to have on hand for quick appetizers when guests are over. Fresh produce is cheaper than you would find at the chain grocer. (You may want to ask when their shipment day is) You can find shelled peanuts, juices, yogurt, eggplant, green beans, potatoes, curry leaves, lychee, jumbo ginger,etc. If you like ketchup and mild heat, the hot & sweet tomato chili sauce is a must buy, so many ways to use it. Just so you know, the other person at the counter, during busy times, is a female. Seemingly, she doesn't speak English? But point to the fresh samosas in the display case for 99¢. A good buy. Also, the fresh dessert case below is mouth watering. They have the familiar gulab samun soaked in honey. Yum. One more thing, Saturday and Sunday seems like the community shopping day, busy. Even though I am not feeling the customer service, I'll rate India Grocers a 4, acknowledging what may be a cultural gap. read more

For many years, it has been a tradition for small Indian Grocers to sell samosas on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This place has done a wonderful job of that. Recently they started selling them every day of the week, which is a hurrah. But beyond samosas, they also sell a number of other handmade Indian treats. Food is great; prices are great. April, 2019. Rating dropped from 5 stars to 2. The worst Samosas I ever ate now. They have someone new making them, someone who is cutting corners unbelievably. Samosas should be made of chopped potatoes and peas. These were made of mashed potatoes with almost no peas. Really, really bad! read more

Just visited the store and was surprised to find increased price of Nanak sweet by $2 on previously priced 6.99. Apparently this will happen on upcoming Diwali sale which will be a discount on increased prices and effectively no sale but just an eye wash for customers who believe in sale prices. read more

Authentic Indian grocery store? I'm kinda obsessed. I'm so excited, I'm like a little kid who's gonna pee her pants. I try and try not to wiggle but I just gottttta! My friend V., who is from India, brought me to India Grocers today after I had dinner at her house a couple weeks ago and couldn't stop exclaiming about how amazing it was. She is very sweet and offered to show me around the store, explaining what everything was, and which brands were best, etc. Color me a lucky, lucky girl. I definitely suggest having someone who knows what's up take you here, otherwise, even an Indian food obsessed girl like me would have been somewhat lost - or at least not gotten the full effect. This is a small grocery, and each aisle is jammed with amazing Indian imports. There are masala mixes and spices and Indian snack food; a plentiful frozen section; wholesale sized bags of lentils, nuts, grains, flours; candy (including Cadbury's Dairy Milk - OMFG! Those of you know who know what this is *know what it is*) and biscuits; pickled items (which is different from the American version of pickling something), and hot, fresh foods as well. My friend bought me a samosa, which was out of this world - better than at Udipi, my favourite Indian restaurant in Cbus. I was basically stiffling myself from exclaiming every other step I took, so as not to disturb those who were seriously shopping. I did think it was cool that a young couple who were not Indian were shopping here - so, this place is pretty authentic if that was something I noticed. This grocery is everything I expected it to be and more - it's really straightforward, just about the products, really - which is truly where it's at. It points out how excessive Americans, American packaging, and American grocery stores are. It makes me wish such a Quebecoise grocery existed here in Cbus so I could show you all what I grew up eating... le sigh. V. also informed me that there is a large Indian population in Dublin, which I was unaware of - I wish, since this is the case, there were more Indian restaurants and groceries, but I suppose a girl can dream. Oh and did I mention that I bought a whole bag of Indian food for 20 bucks - including a huge box of nag champa for just $2.50?! And finally, another really great point about this store is how friendly the staff are - when I was ringing up, V. and the clerk were talking, and he told me that if I ever came back (which I absolutely absolutely will), he would help me find things. Went in here today to specifically find some cooking sauces. When I looked at what was available (first ailse, towards the front, bottom shelf) I found EVERYTHING covered with dust and expired over two years ago. Check it out for yourself. This place should be shut down by the health authorities. I came in with good expectations but left highly disappointed and wondering why the staff does not check their shelves. read more

Worth going into just for the Samosas alone, you buy them right at the counter. This is the smaller Indian Grocery Store in the Area. We shop at both. We find the staff quite helpful and courteous in helping us with questions. Once in a while we get a bit confused when a spice has a completely different name than we are familiar with. First of all, they have all the goods on their shelf even after expiration dates. Plus if any store bought stuff after opening is bad, they blame you for opening and will go to extreme ends for not trying to do refund. I'm going to report them to BBB and FTC for their malpractices, getting family from India and making them work here and all expired stuff. They just keep adding stickers on them, so no one will scratch and see what's beneath it. I've done this before for some online shopping portals, being a lawyer I know this. Third, for the last 3-4 festivals, there's always been something on the bill that is not added in their system; that's what they'll tell you if you turn up with the bill to just ask about it. Like I did, on navratri there was a something spices mentioned in the bill for 2$, we let go thought was ok. But we hadn't bought anything. Even on dusshera that happened again with 4.12$ charge, went to ask for it no body gave any attention. The worst of the situation is that we matched all the stuff at home with each item couldn't find anything that we bought as "spices". This time again on diwali, did a shipping of almost 200$ all packed stuff nothing loose all lentils and dry fruits not a single other stuff. While a 3.40$ charge again termed as "spices" came in the bill. Took everything out of the bags counted, and matched with bill. Everything accounted for except for the spices. Went in tried to explain the same thing to owner, but the owner humiliated us and didn't payed heed to any of the things, kept saying you must have bought something. Even when we explained that we counted and matched everything on the bill with the stuff present in front of us, this is extra charge. But he humiliated us. We went in yesterday he said if not happy bring everything back before diwali thats today, knowing we will have to go through the excruciating stuff again. they are just taking advantage of huge lines and people shopping for festivals and not paying attention to the bill expecting honesty. But no! That's the last straw for me. Never going back. In fact my friends bought a pickle jar and took it yesterday saying it was rotten they accused them of adding water and ruining pickle. When they told its after expiration, see everyone panicked and took them to sweet counter so other customer in line won't know what's happening. We have a group of 15-16 families but everyone has been cheated by them once twice or treated rudely. The family nearby our houses, no one goes there for the same reason, expired stuff and shady malpractices. Probably people will know one day and stop going there, cause they expanded, they treat customer like shit. But with high ego comes the downfall. I don't take care of petty things, for me it's nothing but I stood for what I felt right. And I will keep doing it. Next I will report them and see what happens. I buy my vegetables at Whole Foods anyway, used to come in for lentils and some Indian vegetables, probably take my business else where. read more

Want to share an experience today when we visited to return one item which had an expiry of 12/12 and we purchased it 1 week before tat date. Usually tat item is good for months. We did not use it until today and we realized it was not tasting good and then when we checked the expiry date, we got to know it was expired. We took the product and the person at tge register was goin over all thier policy and he said he can't accept return coz it is OPEN. How does he expect us to know something is not good before it is OPENED. The person was sarcastic and unapologetic. They lost 2 customers today. Also they have Very little room to maneuver and the place is Very cramped. Columbus has many options so we are not going to return to this store again. PS: pardon spelling. The owners always help a newcomer to Indian cooking, helping to "Decode" the Indian terms for the English ones which really, really, and I DO mean really helps when this stuff is relatively new to you. I shop here all the time for convenience. I work right across the street, so it's easy to pick up an item or two. I know there are bigger Indian grocers just a mile or two up the road, but this is just more convenient for me. My only complain is the friendliness of the staff. I visit at least twice a month, and I have yet to get the check-out guy to smile, say hi, or anything of the sort. I even speak the languages used by the staff fluently. I'd give it at least four stars if the clerks were friendlier. I prefer small stores, so it's easier to find things, and get in and out fast. read more
