What a disappointment in their buffet. Prob will never come back for that. The restaurant looks like a good place for white people to go, lol. Clean... decorative... clean... lol and the food looked well prepared too! But none of that matters when the food isn't good! Everything was just so-so. Lots of options, just not great options. I'd rather have few options that were really delicious. The biggest disappointment was their buttered chicken. That was the main reason i came. I could be happy just eating that and a couple of vegetables... but I feel like they used really poor quality chicken. Maybe overcooked too? It's been a while since I got it for dinner, but I don't think tehy used the same chicken. Maybe it was just a one time thing? Who knows... This is a great place to for an Indian buffet in the DC area. What I really like is that the mango lassee is included as part of the lunch buffet and you can get as much as you like. I don't think most Indian buffets include mango lassee. They also have a decent variety of meat and vegetarian entrees. They have the buffet menu online so you can see what they are serving before you decide to dine there. read more

Great service, great food, great variety, and all you can eat lunch buffet for only $13. I tried this place for the first time for lunch today and their buffet has all sorts of delicious entrees, meat and vegetarian alike. This is probably my favorite buffet I've ever been to. Our waitress came back frequently to take our used plates and refill our waters. We couldn't use a coupon because we missed the time by 10 minutes but the manager was really nice and gave us 10% off anyway. The restaurant is nicely decorated and there is lots of seating inside. Indian food in my book is second only to Thai food, although when you add Naan to the equation it isn't quite as cut and dried. India Palace has good service and the food is amazing. I am a huge fan of Lamb Curries, India Palace does their's right. I love starting with Naan and the various "spreads" that come with Naan. I never remember the names of the spreads but I love the green more minty spread with my Naan! Overall a great stop for Indian Food, small dink because parking isn't as easy as it could be. I cannot express how disappointed I was with the food, the only happiness I found was that this out of all times I didn't leave feeling stuffed to the point where I couldn't breathe. Here are a few items that were displeasing: 1) majority of the food was not very hot and things like the samosas were warm to cold temp, not to mention the lack luster flavor 2) nothing on the menu was spicy... As far as traditional indian buffets go, this was probably one of the most comprehensive spreads I have ever encountered. I've only come across the likes of this at Indian wedding banquets. Goat curry, chicken biryani, egg curry, these are quality dinner entrees that probably make the occasional cameo at other places but are fixtures on their buffet line. The only thing missing is a samosa station where they are fried to order. 2. Before even entering the gluttonous gauntlet of the buffet line, they had me at their complimentary beverage station with unlimited Mango Lassi and Masala Chai. The value of those pulchritudinous potables alone tacked onto any bill is quite significant. Complimentary coffee and sodas are also available if you're allergic to awesome drinks. 3. They post their buffet menu (which rotates weekly) online. Who does that?! First of all, let me say that the service in this restaurant is far better than what you find in similar kind of Indian restaurants. The manager seemed very friendly and did ask me what I thought of the food as I was leaving. We were there on a Friday night for dinner, and the place was moderately crowded. Someone or the other kept checking on us, which was great. Now to the food: - Aloo Papri Chat: This was recommended by the server, but I wasn't a fan. The yoghurt was too cold, which ruined the taste of the papri chat. The manager told me that they have to keep the yoghurt refrigerated due to inspections. But I have had Papri Chat in several restaurants, and the yoghurt has been at room temperature. Either way, I didn't like this much. - Bhelpuri: This was a bit on the spicy side for me. So if you don't like spicy food, be a bit careful before ordering this. - Malai Kofta: This was decent, so as creamy as what you find in other restaurants. It definitely had a bit of different flavor. Wasnt bad. - Lachha Parantha: Decent. Overall, I found this restaurant to be average. There are other restaurants in the area that I prefer. My wife and I have been coming here for years now. Food is always on point. On Fridays they serve a spicy chicken which is absolutely delicious. They also started serving a dish called chicken 43 which is great too! I have no idea why it is call chicken 43, maybe chicken 1-42 we're not as good, but 43 definitely keeps me going back for more. They have your standard meat dishes as well which are done right: butter chicken, tandoori chicken, a goat dish. They have your vegetarian dishes as well which I can never remember the names because I am a carnivore. But this restaurant has something for everyone. I always enjoy the lunch buffet at India Palace, which is spectacular and a total bargain. Really, if you are looking to try lots of different dishes, that buffet is THE place. Alongside the usual favorites (butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, samosas), you'll also find some rarer gems: the bhindi do piyaza, which is super tasty, or the goat bhuna gosht, always tender and flavorful. Their kadai paneer, aloo saag, and saag paneer are out of this world. Always several deserts to choose from. I was in the mood for the comfort food of my people but wanted a nice place to actually sit and dine. My go-to motherland restaurants have incredible food (Eastern Kabob, Germantown Kabob, Curry Place, Spice Grill) but lack in overall ambience. I was looking for real silverware in a big restaurant this time. I found it here at India Palace. I came for the lunch buffet. It was towards the end of the buffet time, so I know I can't be too critical. The choices were plentiful. I piled my plate high with samosa, pakora, basmati rice, goat vindaloo, saag paneer, chicken tikka, and egg biryani. I almost missed the back section full of dahi bara, chaat, chutney (mint and tamarind... bless), raita, salad, etc. They were also serving masala chai, halwa, and suveiya. Granted, some dishes were better than others. The samosa was not impressive, the suveiya tasted like it was made from milk that had already spoiled, and I could only stomach one bite of the dehi bara, which is sad because I love dehi bara. However, the saag paneer was fantastic! The goat vindaloo was also great with nice chunks of meat. Loved the flavor on the chicken tikka and pakora. The naan was hot, fresh, and soft. Halwa = incredible, albeit very sweet. They also do their chutneys and raita justice, which makes all the difference. It's all one balancing act when it comes to authentic Indian/Pakistani food. (Would've liked to see some gulab jamun though.) The ambience of the restaurant is exactly what I was looking for and what I hope other places will adopt. The inside is spacious, the booths are comfy, and I enjoyed eating out of a real plate. The service was also good. We had no idea they close at 3 for their own lunch, but they let us stay to finish our meal. For that reason, we weren't really tended to, but for a buffet and considering they were technically closed, we appreciated their efforts. We're here for the day in beautiful Maryland. We stopped here for the lunch buffet at India Palace. This is by far, the best Indian Food experience that we have had in years! We were nicely greeted upon entering, and graciously led to our table. Our guappo host Enrique provided us with outstanding service. The dining room is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. IMO, they do everything well here. From the mango lassi to their warm and fresh puri bread. The flavors are very authentic and you can taste the effort and elbows used to make each dish. If you're hoping for some more heat, though, you'll have to ask them to up the ante. This doesn't bother me since I prefer my food less spicy, but it's something to keep in mind. I've tried almost everything on the menu and my favorite dish is the palak paneer. It's very flavorful and almost creamy in texture, with tender, yet soft squares of paneer. I've tried many a palak paneer, but India Palace is the only place that gets it right! All of the curries are also very delicious (goat curry is decadent). Their butter chicken/paneer is amazing too - lots of flavors with a little heat and perfectly cooked chicken. The rice and naan is always fresh and service is great too. My family and I have been going to this place for years and they've kept the same staff all along. Service is great and they offer consistency, hence their success. The lunch buffet here is nothing short of spectacular! I came here recently with a group of 7 without a reservation and we were seated promptly at a table near the buffet. (We came for an early lunch during a holiday weekend, I've seen this place packed with people before during Friday's lunch rush). Being so early meant most of the food had just been freshly prepared and there wasn't a single disappointing dish in the mix - lots of complex flavors and some dishes I've never seen at Indian buffets before were such a pleasant surprise. Some favorites were: - Tandoori chicken - nice and moist with a good char. IMO better than the butter chicken. - Saag - SO GOOD. Looks can really be deceiving, it looked like just plain spinach but one bite and I was hooked. I could've filled up on saag and naan alone, it was so flavorful! - Dhania goat - I've never had goat prepared quite like this and it was fantastic, the cilantro gave it such a nice herby flavor and I really loved this dish! - Paneer Tikka Masala - can't go wrong with this, nicely seasoned and very rich. - Egg curry - this was my first time seeing egg curry at a lunch buffet and I really enjoyed it! - Chole Bhature - the chickpeas were soooo flavorful and I like how they made individual small bhatures for people to pick up. I also enjoyed their chilli chicken, a cauliflower dish, and their daal. They had a lot of other options like chaat, pani puri, and kofta but these are the ones that stuck out. Their Gulab Jamuns and Kheer were also nice but a little on the sweetish side for me. Yes! We have found our local Indian restaurant! The chicken tikka masala was flavored wonderfully, and the size of each piece of meat was perfect. I've often had this dish where it tasted like the chicken was thrown into the sauce as an afterthought, but rest assured, India Palace prepares their chicken with stand alone flavor! The Biryani, though a little spicy, was also really good. It went perfectly with the Raita served alongside it. The pan was fluffy and delicious, and the gulab jamun was a perfect sweet desert. I would highly recommend India Palace to all lovers of great Indian food. Not only is the food wonderful, but its quite aesthetic inside. I cant wait for covid to end so we can try their buffet! Came here for dinner a second time. Confirming my average rating from before. When we came in, there were only about 4 other tables occupied at 8:15 pm. By 9:15 about 5 more. Not busy by any stretch of imagination in a Friday night. The service in comparison to last time, was a notch below. They didn't bring my daughter a plate and silver ware till after the food was brought to the table and we had to ask for it. The Indian waiter was very attentive to the American couple at the next table. But none of the other patrons at other tables (all of whom were brown people) didn't get any love. This is something I've noticed at most Indian restaurants. They bought us the check while we were going through the dessert menu and waiting for someone to take the dessert order. Great place! Probably one of my favorite places to go for their lunch/brunch buffet. Their wait staff is always smiling, attentive and happy to help. The naan is always fresh. You just might have to wait a few minutes for that freshness. The samosas are good. Nothing special, but good. The Onion Palak Pokora was tasty, if a little undercooked. The Papadi Chat, Bel Puri and Dhai Vada were all excellent. I adored the Aloo Vadloo and the Green Beans were fantastic with a nice kick. The Kadai Paneer, Dal Tadka and Saag didn't disappoint, either. The house special, called Chicken65, was a treat of spices that made me go back for seconds. Give this place a try! I've passed it for years and I've been missing out. What made me finally give in is the fact I was outside with my wife just walking and looking and the manager was ready to walk over and open the door for us. That's respect right there. We never had to flag down a waiter, they were always attentive to everyone. There was a decent amount of customers too, so it shows the staff really hustles in here. Tables are kept clean. The food is great. A lot of it was new to me but the flavor was definitely on point. The only con would be how open everything is but it's your typical buffet style setup. The bathrooms are small (1 sink, 2 stalls) but CLEAN and smell like fresh cinnamon. The music isn't blaring but loud enough for you to get the vibes of India. The decor is elegant and shows off the culture. A nice environment & bright in the day time. Too bright for me but my wife loved it. This place is chill and relaxed. Definition of casual dining. Perfect for families and groups of friends. YOU WILL GET FULL. Real food with real flavor. It's worth the money and you'll leave feeling good. Will definitely be coming back. I had an awesome experience here, I can't believe I hadn't discover this place. Thanks to google, this was the closest Indian food place I found for lunch. So I stopped by to check this place out. The wait staff came and greeted me just as I was walking in which I like. He seated me to a good seat. Even though I wish he smiled a bit more, and was conversational, he was very attentive. I didn't have time to order and wait for meal, so I headed straight to the Buffett. All of my favorites were there. from goat curry to daal, saag, even Mango Lassi(first time I saw this on an Indian Buffett). I really loved their nun(roti, bread), it was honestly one of the best I've ever had. I loved the food, everything tasted awesome. The best Indian food and buffet hands down in the area!!! The tandoori chicken is beast! Even my picky 3 year loves it!!! It's perfectly grilled and smokey while still staying nice and juicy. The goat dishes, any of them, are excellent! Especially the goat vindaloo!!! They even have these little cupsof homemade pista kulfi that my family always fights over, Haha! It's so yummy! I absolutely loved this restaurant! Compared to other Indian restaurants, it was very clean and well decorated. I felt like I got a grasp of the culture through their decoration and the music they were playing. The servers were very helpful and kind regarding on educating us on what some of the food was and which tasted better. I've never received such a great service at an Indian restaurant which surprised me, and the food was delicious! However, the shrimp was a little difficult to eat since they had not taken the skin off so be prepared to get messy and with your hands! India Palace is the place to go for Indian food in this area. We've been a few times now, and once or twice for the lunch buffet, which is $12.95 on weekend days. There's always unlimited mango lassi during the buffet and a lot of options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. The menu does change for the buffet, but you'll always get that butter chicken and tandoori chicken as a constant. The buffet comes with a basket of naan bread. They even have dessert. The kheer (rice pudding) is some of the best I've had- it's light and creamy and not overly sweet. They do deliver, and off the menu I'd recommend the Malai chicken for those with mild taste buds that cannot handle spiciness at all. The kabobs here are pretty good too. read more
