What a lovely place! The service was wonderful, and every part of our meal--from the appetizers to the entrées and dessert--was delicious. We started with both cocktails and mocktails, which were a great way to kick off the meal. For appetizers, we ordered the samosas and the Lasoni Gobi (stir-fried cauliflower). Both were full of flavor and absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we had the Vegetable Biryani and the Chicken Biryani. They were beautifully presented in adorable little pots and tasted just as good as they looked. You also can't go wrong with the garlic naan--it was the perfect addition to the meal. To finish, we shared the tres leches cake, and it was amazing--the perfect sweet ending. This place is in a residential, New Age-y kind of area, but with an older clientele. It is a fancy indoor space. Having brought a shoulder bag, I was offered a hook to hang it off my table. They did not offer a separate lunch menu, so I ordered a couple of things and took leftovers. Their special on manchow soup might lead one to wonder if there is such a thing as too many crispy noodles, to which my answer is no. Drowning them in the garlicky soup made for engaging eating, and on a cold day I was glad for a warm soup. This restaurant offers a dish of paneer which is toasted and placed atop of a rich sauce; I've seen versions of this dish at other modern Indian restaurants and while I don't eat a ton of paneer, this one was a winner. They had some vegan options but I could have hoped for more. A paratha was wildly flaky. They asked if I wanted drinks without having shown me a drink menu. I dined here twice in one weekend and enjoyed both experiences. The interior is upscale with high ceilings and great energy. It's the perfect place for a date night or a special occasion or just because you love quality prepared Indian food. They have a full bar and a wonderful dessert menu as well. Expectations: A fancier Indian cuisine ... like somewhere we go with friends. The interior is gorgeous - gold fixtures and chic lighting with dark wall accents. Definitely somewhere to go to get drinks or out with friends The food was solid. Not my favorite tandoori butter chicken- a little too tomato based for me, but I ordered the prawns in a coconut gravy and absolutely loved it! I also had the Naan with goat cheese and truffle - it was rich and I might stick to just plain next time since the flavors in the dish don't need any extra help! The service was slow. There were only a few tables with people - and it seemed to take 40 minutes for our two orders and no one came and checked on us during that time. I was ready to order a second drink! The cocktails were refreshing and full of flavor! I had Mango Mojito and my husband had the smoked old fashioned...we both loved our drinks. Greeted and seated promptly. This restaurant looks new and clean; pretty contemporary. There's a full bar and plenty of tables for dining. My husband and I ordered a Bombay mule and a mojito (mango) from the bar. Both drinks were delicious and to our liking. For dinner, we ordered lamb rogan josh, chana masala, stir fries cauliflower along with garlic naan. Each dish was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned perfectly. New Favorite INDIAN Food! This is a chic and elegant restaurant. The staff are professional and friendly, the interior is modern and chic, and the food is GREAT! First time we ate here: Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Raita, Chutney, Samosas, Garlic Naan, and Dal. Absolutely every last bite of each of these dishes was excellent! I was visiting family in the area and came across this gem. The decor is warm and inviting. Tables were a little close but the place wasn't full enough to over hear others conversations. The food was delicious. We ate so much that we had food to go. I had a refreshing mocktail that made me not miss the alcohol. My dessert was one of the best I've had in a long time. It's been a while since we've been able to visit Andaz. This past weekend we took our grandson and his fiancé out to lunch and they wanted Indian food. What we found was that the original menu was complemented by a new lunch menu! Two of us tried the lunch offerings - an amazing concept! You are offered what I would call "themes." A large, circular tray contains smaller silver containers. One is their delicious, delicate rice, one has the main flavor (I chose chicken vindaloo spicy). The others contain lentils, and other accompaniments. Two triangles of naan sat in the middle with a small serving of "slaw." A wonderful concept that offers smaller portions of their entrees and a wide variety of flavors. Allows you to experiment with all the offerings without committing to several take home boxes to handle the leftovers. We were there off hours and the restaurant was not crowded. It was quiet and music level was just right to allow us to carry on a conversation. Highly recommend the new lunch concept! Yikes- very undercooked chicken here. I ate at this restaurant for lunch today after someone I knew raved about it. There were 3 of us. My dining companions' food was very good. I ordered the chicken tika masala. The sauce was good - not outstanding, but the texture of the chicken didn't seem quite right. It was hidden in the very thick sauce, so only after eating 2/3 of the dish, did I realize that it wasn't fully cooked. I cut into a piece and moved the sauce off and it was clearly very undercooked. I let the manager know. He would not admit that the chicken was undercooked. He offered to bring me a small portion of a new dish since he said I liked my chicken " well-done" i accepted (being too polite) but I have no I intention of eating any food from this place ever again. If you choose to eat here, be very careful. I am really hoping I don't get sick. read more

We visited Andaz this weekend with high expectations based on the numerous posts praising Frederick's newest "upscale" Indian restaurant and are regretful to say it fell flat for us. Overall, the restaurant gets a 4/10 from us, because although the food was great, the service and experience were amateurish at best. We thought: Food - 7 Atmosphere - 5.5 Service - 2. As a long time restaurant worker (server, cook, bartender), the lack of basic front of house service was surreal. We were seated 20+ minutes after arriving on time for our reservation, despite the restaurant being about 1/3 full. No apologies or explanation. Once seated, left to contemplate a menu with misspelled words and numerous typos, our server - without so much as a greeting - asked for our complete order. No, "welcome to Andaz", just "what are you ordering?" Drinks were delicious and well presented, but took quite a long time to arrive. The meal continued with several basic hospitality gaffes - empty waters, awkward interactions with obviously untrained staff, not a single person checked on us after our meal was served. The lady standing awkwardly behind my partner, unsure if she should offer water or not, was off putting; borderline creepy. That said, for as much as the front of the house lacked in restaurant management experience, the back of the house was doing something right. Our food was delicious. We shared an order of samosas that were well-spiced, accompanied with a delicious mint/tamarind chutney mixture, and served fresh from the fryer. Andaz's menu offers South Indian dishes, as well as your more commonly found North Indian dishes, allowing us to expand our Indian food palates even further. The Kokum Branzino was delicious with balanced spices. The Bhuna Gosht (goat) was also delicious, however the number of gristle-y pieces was off-putting, as well as the bay leaf that remained in the curry. Overall, Andaz is an incomplete work. The kitchen showed up ready to go with sumptuous, authentic Indian cuisine, served on time and plated beautifully. The front of house unfortunately was totally unprepared for even a slow Friday evening dinner rush. read more

Andaz is amazing! The Kokum Branzino is my favorite so far...I literally have been dreaming about it and couldn't go a week without coming back for it! The jalapeño cheese samosa were delicious and different, as was the methi paneer toast. My husband's new favorite is the Hyperabadi Bagara Baigan, a wonderful eggplant dish. The kebab trio appetizer is so tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced. We also really liked the Ajmeri Kofta! Our son is a huge fan of the mango lassi and butter naan. I am not sure whether I prefer the Arabic naan or the rosemary naan...they are both so delicious! The service is attentive and kind! I'm a very big fan! Oh, one other thing to note - they are really good with listening to the spice levels you would like, which I particularly appreciate. read more

A friend and I went to Andaz today for a late lunch and it was wonderful. The service was fantastic, and the people were very gracious and accommodating. We both had a different dish and shared, and they were both wonderful. Some people didn't have very nice things to say about the restaurant. We did not experience anything even close to what the bad reviews had to say. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant and telling lots of our friends and family! We were totally impressed with everything about the restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful and they have put a lot of work into this restaurant. I ordered catering from Andaz for an outdoor event for 100 people. Food was ready on time for pick up and guests really enjoyed it (especially the variety tray of tandoori style chicken and jalapeño cheese samosas). We went there first time not knowing what to expect since they had opened recently but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered (Appetizers: chettinad chicken croquettes, palak chat; Entrees: tari wala chicken, ajmeri kofta; Breads: goat cheese truffle and plain naan) turned out to be delicious including the mocktail (virgin mojito with guava). Two of us were too full to order dessert, but manager, Malcom, insisted that we try the pan masala ice cream (on the house) to give them our feedback - BTW it was excellent. Service was prompt and courteous. We got to speak to the chef, pastry chef in addition to Malcolm, the manager. We will go there again. read more

Small portions a hundred dollars worth of food was barely enough for 4 adults. Low quality meat chicken had fat that wasn't trimmed. Lamb was hard and chewy. Veggie options were much better because the curry is very good has a lot of spices. Youre better off going to The Mint Room honestly. read more

Amazed at how so many people rate this place 5 stars! The food was ordinary at best. So much hype around it and we were very excited to go, but it was such a disappointment in the end. The ambience was beautiful but food was so average, in some cases cold, and there is not even one dish we ordered that was memorable. The chai was probably the worst chai I ever tasted - I couldn't even finish it. How they can get away with serving food like this after having the reputation they do is amazing! They must take much more care with important people and reviewers etc. Very unfortunate! read more
