My bride and I stopped by last Saturday at 7pm and had a fantastic meal at House of Curry. Our first time here, so after finding it on Yelp, we kind of combed the shopping center looking for it. It's not fancy on the outside, but the food and service were just first rate. We started out with a delicious mango lassi and pretty good chai hot tea, then launched into an apps round of chicken momos and veggie samosas. I was very excited to see they served momos, as we've both been big fans at other Himalayan restaurants for a few years; these were just as good, being light dumplings with a savory filling and served with that deeply flavored yellow chutney sauce. The samosas were better than most we've had, with a lighter envelope and less potatoes in the filling. Included were the sweet dark chutney and the green cilantro-based chutney. We also tried the rosemary garlic naan and the onion kulcha, both fresh, soft and hot. Our mains were the lamb saag and Madras chicken curry, both excellent -- the lamb tender in a creamy thick spinach sauce, and the chicken curry big chunks of white meat in a memorable savory stew. We didn't specify spice levels, and the curry was zippy but perfectly palatable for both of us. This was a lot of food, and we continued to enjoy it as leftovers for the next few days. For all of this, our bill came to only about $75 before tip. The restaurant was quiet when we were there, with one other large table occupied. The service was quick and attentive. The atmosphere is spare but clean. We'll be back! read more

We did a carry-out out order and it was our first visit. We ordered a variety of dishes. We like spicy but this time we ordered mild for two of the dishes so we can taste the flavor; however, the chili chicken and chili paneer were both SOOOO spicy that it was painful to eat. The noodle dish and the wins were less spicy than the chili chicken and chili paneer. The garlic naan and wings were both good. Perhaps we need to give it another try. read more

Walking in you are greeted by lovely aromas! Very friendly staff, very attentive without being too much. The food was excellent, very fresh ingredients and cooked with a very light touch. The garlic naan was the lightest touch I've ever had and therefore was the best I've ever had. My husband said, and I agree, that if someone has never had Indian food or is unsure about trying it, this is the best introduction to it! Lunch for two on a weekday - Much better than expected! Much!!! Food We overordered to ensure a variety of dishes were sampled, and also to enjoy leftovers for meals at home afterwards. In general-all were excellent. Unlike competitors, the depth of flavor was a signature characteristic of all dishes. Butter chicken. lambchops, chicken lollypops, dumplings, honey shrimp, lentils, and rice - each was special in its own unique way. Everything was served HOT which was appreciated. In fact, we enjoyed a minute of meditation while the sizzling aromatic lamb dish magically transported our minds to calm and inner peace. Ahhhhhh! See photos for details - worth hundreds of words. Service Excellent food is sufficient reason to return, yet the service was also top-notch. Servers who act like owners are rare and greatly appreciated. Maybe they were owners. We were impressed with service by well-groomed and neatly dressed individuals, who reminded us of the good old days when dining out was a special event. Water glass was kept full, dishes came out of the kitchen promptly and presented to us with care, if not a bit of flourish. Servers seemed to delight in our enthusiasm for each presentation. Cleanup and takeaway boxes presented professionally. I'd prefer to dine in these circumstances over takeout. Wow! Ambiance Clean, new, neat, modern, well lighted, accessible, easy parking in front, quiet enough to have a conversation, booths with cushioned seats, clean and well supplied restrooms. I found the ambiance somewhat neutral which presented no distractions from the key feature - excellent food and service. With a very generous tip, out bill totaled $100.00. We enjoyed four more regular meals from leftovers! No regrets at all. We tried this place because of its convenient location to shopping; however, it is a legitimate destination for us and definitely worth the trip. We'll return soon. Got some great takeout from here! I feel like other local Indian takeouts have been declining in quality so it's great to see a new option. The ordering process was quick and easy. When I got to the restaurant everything was ready to go and there were no issues with my order. We got samosas, naan, butter chicken, paneer makhani, and chicken korma. The samosas were large and delicious, and the naan was perfect. The paneer was cut into small pieces and not super flavorful, but the portion was generous. The chicken in both the butter chicken and the chicken korma was delicious- large fresh pieces cooked to perfection. The sauces were rich, complex, and flavorful. My favorite ended up being the korma sauce. Nothing was too spicy- even the medium sauces seemed mild to me. Ready to come back and try some more! read more

Damascus is limited when it comes to eating out, so when House of Curry opened up I was super excited to check them out. I was leaning more towards carry out, but hubs suggested we dine in and get the full experience. It was a good move because the food was fresh and delicious! We walked in around 6pm and picked a table. We were immediately greeted and given water and menus. Hubs ordered a tajmahal beer, which we shared since its was 20oz. It was light, crisp, and refreshing. The waitress was very kind and informative with the food options. She suggested the tandoori kabobs so that we could try most of the meat options. My husband ordered that, which came with a side of basmati rice and lentils. I went for the butter chicken which camr with rice, and we obviously had to order naan. The inside is new and kept clean. Its very simple, but comfortable. When the food came out, it smelled amazing. The butter chicken was flavorful and had a sweet taste. I tried my husbands chicken as well, which was the tiki and tandoori chicken and they were good as well. I should've asked for their hot sauce, because I tend to enjoy a bit of spice. The naan came out and it was so soft and fresh.it was perfect to dip in my butter chicken. As we were eating, more people walked in, which I was happy to see. Its good to see businesses thrive in Damascus. Overall, great food and we will be coming back more often, even for carry out, to try more items on the menu. read more

First & possible last time. 1) Butter Chicken: Ridiculously Sweet - it could be dessert. Too much cream. 2) Aloo Baingan: Too spicy, and I like some spice. Dish was undersalted and had too many woody eggplant stem tops as well as whole hot chilies in it. Very unpleasant to bite into. 3) Palak Paneer: It's supposed to have a smooth, flavorful sauce. What I received was dry clumpy spinach with tiny little 1/2" square pieces of Paneer. Shameful. Also, too much spice. I have no idea why. It's supposed to be children's favorite and not to be spicy at all! 4) Rice: Not fragrant, under salted, and tasted bland. 5) Prices are too high especially for this area. Should be the same prices as Chinese. I was so disappointed. I really wanted to like this place and try a new Indian Restaurant. Yum! We got takeout from House of Curry last night (first time ever) and liked it so much that we did it again tonight. (Portions are generous, but we felt like we needed to supplement the leftovers.) Last night we had Madras Chicken - our favorite so far - and palak paneer (super yummy), and samosa chat. The samosas in the chat dish were soggy, but that's probably because it took a while to pick up the order. It was still delicious. Tonight we added lamb Rogan josh and spinach chat. The lamb Rogan Josh sauce is wonderful, but the meat is chewy (probably overcooked). The spinach chat is yummy but again, a bit soggy. We plan to eat inside the restaurant some time soon so that we can try the chat fresh and hot from the kitchen, before it gets soggy. Good food and good value, with a lot of menu options, so definitely recommended. read more

We did an online order and picked up the order. Our order was ready in 15 minutes. My wife had the butter chicken and rosemary garlic naan. I had the Spicy Ghost Curry Chicken with Onion Kulcha. Both entrees were excellent. As a spicy enthusiast, I'm happy to say that the Spicy Ghost Curry Chicken was actually spicy. A really nice balance of spice without taking away from the flavor of the dish. This was the first time I have had Onion Kulcha and it was very good. The flavor of the onion was just right and a perfect side to go along with my entree. The portions were large and offered a decent value. I saw this restaurant reviewed online and added it to my list of places to eat. The restaurant isn't large but it's comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We ordered the Butter Chicken, Chili Chicken, Ghost Pepper Lamb Curry, Chana Masala as well as Garlic and Cheese Naan. We were able to pick the spice level and chose hot for everything. The food here was amazing. Everything came to the table steaming smelling wonderful and tasted fresh and amazing. I personally am not a lamb eater but felt like i might need a straw to drink up the ghost pepper curry sauce that was on the lamb. We will be going back very soon! read more

We got takeout for 7 today, a total of 5 dishes and 2 naans, and would order everything except one dish again. It was delicious. Even the kids liked it. My daughter said she liked it better than food we've gotten from other South Asian restaurants in the area. We got cauliflower, eggplant, lamb, chicken and shrimp and they all were good except not enough shrimp and the creamy tomato curry that accompanied the shrimp was a little sweet for my taste. Food was not good. Did not taste like Indian food. The "curry" type of entrees all tasted the same even though we ordered different ones. They all seemed to be tomato based. Portions were on the smaller side while prices were on the higher side. The guy took our order and brought our food but did not offer much interaction or ask how things were or if we needed anything else at any point. As a new small business in the area, it would be great to see some level of excitement, engagement, and enthusiasm for your offerings. This would help with the customer service experience. Maybe offer to explain the various dishes or make recommendations to those unfamiliar with Indian food. We were so excited to have an Indian restaurant in Damascus, but I cannot recommend this one. This place is relatively new. We had the goat curry (there are two on the menu, our had veggies) and palak paneer. Both were outstanding. You could taste each vegetable in the curry, it hadn't been simmered into exhaustion. The amount of spice was perfect. You could taste the coriander in the spinach as well. I stopped in for lunch on Tuesday and decided to carryout. I ordered the appetizer sampler. Everything in the sampler was fresh tasting and delicious. They packaged it up nicely and the people who helped were very courteous. The place itself has several booths that could seat 4 people each and some tables.
