Had an incredible dinner for the entirety of our stay. As we entered, we were greeted and permitted to sit wherever we'd like, albeit having a multitude of people, and we weren't sitting long before we were greeted personally and served by the chef herself. She was considerate in terms of asking about our spice preferences. We enjoyed all four of our meals, and especially made an effort to take some of the naan and sauces home with us.

Very Bad food. Okay-ish customer service. The gravy was watery and the serving bowls were half filled. After we were served the appetizers, it took them over 40 mins to get us the main course. Malai kofta ($11.99) came with 3 small cheese balls. Unbelievable. Paneer Makhni was so salty, it almost gave us a high blood pressure. When we complained about salt and quantity, the kitchen staff bluntly refused to acknowledge it. Also, the manager referred to her staff as "kids" and said they didn't know much. They had a bigger party of more than 10 people at that time, hence they gave them preference over us since we were only 5 people. I think they are way too full of themselves and think people would go there no matter what, but they probably don't know that customers are not stupid. The only person who was sensible was a guy who tried to understand our frustration but since their lady manager was so unprofessional, there was not much he could do as a waiter. Never going back and would not recommend this place to anyone who likes indian food, and especially not to anyone who is looking to try Indian cuisine since you're only going to be fooled. Its just spices and water. No flavor. P.S. The "free" mango lassi offer on yelp is a bogus deal. The lassi was sour and stale. Don't let them fool you.

Picked up from New India Palace for the first time tonight, due to the fact that the place my mother and I get from was closed. I would like to preface this by saying we ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, and order of naan bread and vegetable samosa's. Both the tikka masala and chicken korma were very good. The issues stem from elsewhere. My mother placed the order for takeout: it took almost an hour for the food to be ready. I understand if the food is homemade it can take time, but the restaurant was empty and I see no excuse for a takeout order to take such a long time. We ordered two chicken entree's, and they only gave us one portion of rice. My mother went back in to ask for another, and the guy tells her that we received the correct portion, but he would "take care of us this time". This may have been a mistake, but regardless, two entrees call for two portions of rice. Lastly, my mother was told the reason the food was taking so long was because they were making the vegetable samosas. We get home, the somosa's are burnt to a crisp and hard as rocks. All three go into the garbage. If I could I would give this place another half star because the two chicken dishes were quite good. However, I did not feel it deserved 3 stars, so I had to give it 2.

Picture this: It's a Sunday afternoon, I barely mustered up the willpower to shower, much less actually try to make anything to feed myself. The beau is under the weather and has no desire to eat so I'm on my own. What to eat...what to eat. Ooh, I know - since my boyfriend does not like Indian food (a major character flaw), I know, I SHALL DINE ON INDIAN CUISINE THIS EVENING! Scan Yelp and find India Palace which is a stones throw away from my abode and I can order through the Yelp app. Win/win. Scan the menu and I don't know what to order. Ok I'm gonna start nice an easy with my first visit. Samosas, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and vegetable biryani. Place my order and Yelp tells me anywhere from 10-35 minutes. I wait about 25 before headed to pick up my grub. Walk in and it's quite a lovely restaurant. There were a few large tables of people eating and I was the only non Asian in the joint, which to me is a good sign. So my food isn't ready and I wait...at this point the young man tells me that they were out of samosas ::cue tears here:: Given that I had paid for them already, and he didn't offer any alternatives, I questioned him about him and told me I can either contact Yelp for a refund...or I'd get extra garlic naan. It would have been nice for him to tell me that first before questioning him but imma let that one slide. Ok, extra naan it is. After what ends up being a total of 45 minutes I get my food and head home. Wow, now my car smells like garlic but like McD's says, I'm lovin it. Arrive at home and all of a sudden my boyfriend says he's hungry and wanders over to my booty (the food people). Divvy everything up, give him his own naan and we eat. Mmmm, so good. I left the chicken tikka as mild, but it still had some heat. Not awful enough that I couldn't enjoy it, but a few beads of sweat did appear on my forehead. If you're a small cat like I am when it comes to spice, then keep it mild. Vegetable biryani was so good, my only issue is that I needed some salt on it, but that's my own preference. All in all, was very happy with my food and even the boyfriend who is not a fan enjoyed it.

1st impression no one is there to seat you... We waited a few minutes but eventually the staff came out and sat us. They had booth and table seating. 2nd impression is that it had to be good if all the guests are Indian (close to getting home cooked meals). 3rd the tables were presentable and clean presentation of food was nice. They offered mild, medium and hot spice which I thought was good for people wanting to learn to eat Indian food. We ordered chicken korma and chicken paneer( chicken in the Spanish style sauce) both with medium spice. The Korma was not the best I ever had it was missing something but def good the spinach meal was def delicious. The rice was fluffy and delicious. The naan was delicious. Overall we cleaned our plates of the food. It wasn't overly oily. We will def go back I would love to try their buffet so I will have to find out when they offer it. It was byob for beer/wine. There is a liquor store two stores down. I would say def go try it out. Affordable pricing.

I live in the area and India Palace is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants around. The food is flavorful, fresh, and there are a wide variety of options available on the menu. I love starting off with the tandoori items. They are served steaming hot on a kadai. I highly recommend the tandoori chicken, lamb chops, and chicken lollipop. These dishes are so good that sometimes this is all that my friends and I order. As far as the wet dishes, such as the chicken makhani and goat curry, they are also very delicious. In fact, all of the dishes I have tried thus far have been very tasty. However, I will say that the food can sometimes take a bit too long to reach the table. With that said, the owners and staff are still very kind and welcoming. India palace is definitely a must try!

Came here last night and I'm glad we did because I didn't know this place existed on a road I frequent. We had pizza naan and tandoori corn for apps, and lasoni paneer with naan for main. Pretty good amount for apps! The pizza naan didn't taste quite like pizza, but of course there's an Indian touch to it. I really recommend the tandoori corn! Get it even a little spicier, you won't regret it. Seemed a little understaffed, but nonetheless friendly service.

I recently went to India Palace, and I absolutely loved it. Yes, I agree they take longer than usual to bring the food out but it is so worth it. I am glad they take their time, so I know it will be amazing. I loved the Dry Chicken Tikka and Paneer Bhurjee were my favorite. The corn appetizer was pretty amazing too. The love and I were a little far from home to get to our usual place, so we thought we'd try something new. Delicious food and friendly, attentive service. The three stars reflects the food and the approach of the young server working that night. Very good Tandoori and Naan. No complaints in this area. The same cannot be said about the other lady wandering the floor who took our order. No stars there. Her air of disinterest and arrogance was off putting as was her determined up sell of a specific menu item. Even our attempts at dining small talk were greeted with a deadpan expression. Her presence on the floor was robotic and not in tune with a customer centric environment. This was especially evident when the check was called for. This is when she stood over us waiting impatiently for us to complete the payment. While doing this she was on her cell phone having some heated private conversation with some poor sap. Heaven forbid the customer asks for a pen to fill in particulars. This practically gets thrown on the table. Some people, owner of not? need to take a few lessons regarding interpersonal skills and customer service. Needless to say, the great food felt somewhat bitter as we walked out. We were starving when we walked in but had a pretty good idea what we wanted to order. As soon as we walked in, the smell of the place made us hungrier. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions about their specialties. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, egg biryani and a bunch of other delicious stuff. I'm not a big spicy food eater so we got mild and medium for our orders. The food was delicious! We'd definitely go back. read more

Came here for lunch buffet and the selection was very minimal but very good. The portions available were only small bowl portions so it ran out pretty quickly but there were only 2 other tables at the time I went. 2 non-veg dishes, 3 veg dishes, rice, 2 appetizers(?), and lettuce/cucumber/lime selection. Their naan is different than what I am used to, more crunchy (I would prefer more chewy), but still good. Total came to 22 for 2 people which is not bad for buffet read more

This hidden gem is the answer to my prayers. I've been wanting an Indian restaurant to open close by for the 10+ years I've been living in Rahway. And now, not only did I get one, but it has exceeded my expectations! The food here is top-notch and affordable, and the wait staff is very accommodating. Not familiar with Indian food? The lovely hostess will be happy to guide you through the menu. The Navratna Curry and Shaam Savera are great for those of us who are "born to be mild." I love Indian food and recently discovered this restaurant with a friend. My favorites are the sesame naan, the lamb chops, the chicken tikka masala, the methi Mulai mutter and the Mulligitawny soup. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is attentive and caring. The owner is charming - she makes an effort to stop by the table to ensure that everything is to your liking. It is also BYOB - there is a wine store in the same plaza. I even like their music. The crowd is a mix of Indian and non-Indian diners. Finally, this restaurant is great for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Everyone will find their bliss here. read more

The food at this restaurant is always really tasty and priced well. The first location, which has shut down, was more of a whole in the wall (not necessarily in a good way), but the new location has a much nicer feel inside. I've never actually sat down at either location because I just get take out, but i do recommend this restaurant. I took one star away just because its never as spicy as I ask them to make it, but I will repeat regardless. read more

This is a very good Indian restaurant., I would suggest to anyone coming around the Oak tree or Edison area. Food is very tasty and authentic. This kind of food you get generally at a very highly priced Indian restaurant only., but it is very affordable (mostly $, not $$). I love this place. The food is delicious. But does anyone else feel jittery and have a pounding heart rate after eating their food? I've eaten there twice in the past week for dinner and both times could not sleep or slept really poorly after. I hate to bash this place, bc, like I said, the food is delicious. But the past two times i've eaten here, I simply felt WEIRD -- hyper, keyed up, jittery. Literally almost makes me wonder if I'm reacting to some spice in their food. Its not the same quality and taste we used to cherish in the past after this Bangladeshi chef owned family restaurant got sold out a month ago. We can now clearly notice the difference and the taste is going down hill. It feels like any other average Indian restaurant now. Sorry, but not worth it anymore. My husband and I went to this restaurant on a saturday evening. Even though there weren't that many people dining at the time, the service was very slow. We had to wait a good 10-15 mins just to be given menus! then we were given a pitcher of water but no glasses. My husband had to ask for glasses when we ordered our food. We ordered 1 mango lassi but the waiter brought us 2, when I told him we only ordered one, he didn't seem to care. We ended up paying for both mango lassis. It took us a long time to get our food, the service seemed very slow and when we finally got our food the portions were way too small. They had only put a few pieces of chicken and lots of sauce. I don't think that is fair if they're charging people $11.99 for it. Also, the butter chicken is not served with any rice, i've never heard of this in any indian restaurant i've been to. They should've at least provided a small portion of rice with the butter chicken. I felt like the food was way too overpriced and not worth it. Never going back to this place ever again. read more

Food is better than most of the places in the nearby restaurant. Had been there couple of times. Oh! the BYOB is helpful specially with the liquor store being next door, just in case if you forgot to pack yours. I would not recommend taking family as there is always few tables with people loud & Drunk, swearing and yelling.The place is like lurid stag mags dungeon, Very bad experience last month with the waiter supposedly owner's(chef's) sons behaving like they don't give a crap when a next table complaint about their appetizer being cold. Instead of apologizing and taking care of it they ended up arguing and saying "that is how it is always we cant't take it back as it is expensive!" what a jerk (waiter) inexperienced, insolent and zero hospitality know-how. Completely Rude and we left making sure we don't visit this place again though the food was at par but the behavior of the restaurant was completely unacceptable. Crossed out from my list. read more

They forgot some order... they got garlic naan after almost 30 minutes.. .. Punjabi kulcha was the best . Super super good . Punjabi thali was also good . Garlic naan did not taste good... and so did paneer Tika Masala.. It was very average.... Lassi was really good... I haven't worked here but had the chance too. My mom worked for a little bit part time for extra cash. I had to focus on my studies. Been coming to this restaurant couple times a month in the last year. The owner and I know each other by now and she is the most humble , caring, warm, welcoming, restaurant owner I have ever met. She takes pride in her business. She works hard to serve the most mouthwatering food you'll eat and engages with customers in brief conversations to show her appreciation for their decision of dining in at her restaurant. The food is by far amazing. Each and every time I have came, the food was delicious, never a single complaint. This restaurant is near Edison and against all the dine-ins there, nothing beats this place. Restaurants such as rasoi, urban spice, red chutney, bombay talk, khasyat, and more are shit compared to this restaurant. India palace is the best, take my word. This is not because I know the owner and she offered my mom and I a job. Once I came and asked for a job when school was over and she said no because she had workers. She could've done anything to include me but she's fair to her employees, which is the right way to be. There is one bad review about this place in particular that spoke about terrible service and food. Real story is that they came in drunk, made constant loud and obnoxious noise, and bothered other calm customers. At one point everyone had enough, and aunty kindly asked them to leave. Then too, they harassed her and the restaurant and left after being asked constantly. Don't believe anythung bad other than common restaurant mistakes. Yes sometimes food may not be as good as the first time or second/third. Maybe they might have made mistakes but nobody is perfect. In my eyes, this restaurant food, staff, location, and tone is perfect. Take my advice, come inside one day, dine in, have a convo with the owner and staff, you'll see yourself planning to come back another day. I have been to India Palace and a few times now and the food is always delicious. The menu is extensive, encompassing anything you could crave at the moment, and every dish is well crafted and tasty. The sizzlers are especially good and we always end up ordering a second round. I also love that India Palace is a BYOB restaurant. It's conveniently located next to a liquor store which makes choosing and bringing your own drinks extremely easy. This place is great for gathering up a bunch of friends and family, grabbing a couple of bottles of wine, and spending the night getting order after order of delicious platters. It makes for a quality evening and welcome break from the usual in-and-out type of meals we are used to nowadays. It was early on a Sunday evening and we had the restaurant to ourselves. I was a bit worried that nobody else was dining. Were the reviews I read wrong? The food was said to be very good, so where were the other customers? Our order was taken, and with the first bite of a pakora, I knew I was in for a treat. Everything taste delicious! The lamb in the Rogan Josh was tender and flavorful, the tikka masala was creamy, the jeera rice brought it all together. I knew the food was made with love even before the owner came to ask if everything was to our liking. When I told her all was delicious, she smiled sweetly and said she had cooked it. We do a lot of take out from here and it has never disappointed. Everything is so fantastic - I have not had anything here I wouldn't get again. Favorites include chicken lasoni, chicken 65, and chicken makhani. Each dish js very distinct and the chicken is always moist and flavorful. The chicken lasoni sauce is the most delicious, insanely garlicky thing I have ever eaten. All the breads and grilled items are always excellent, as well. Chicken malai kebab is far and away the best I have had - juicy, tender, and full of savory goodness. Veg dishes are all good too. Reasonably priced. read more

Three of us were sat by a host who also took our order. All other tables had a waiter or waitress. He asked us to put our wine under the table. We ordered three appetizers and three entrees. 30 minutes go by and no food. We asked and the host said soon it would be there. 20 minutes more and still nothing. I ask again and we get one cold appetizer. 10 more minutes go by and nothing so I asked for a check and he said nothing was owed. Good bye. Gee, did I mention two of us were gay? Definitely recommend to visit for either a quick bite or a sumptuous meal The owners take pride in what they cook and serve. Amazing buffet! It was way more than I expected for the price! Besides the delicious main courses, salads and rice, we were served with fresh baked naan, appetizer and glass bottle water.
