I posted a review back in 2021 so this is an update. I recently returned to try it again and this time we dined in. I may not be an Indian/Pakistani food connoisseur but I appreciated the flavor of the food. I ordered chicken Tikka Masala and chicken biryani. The food was so flavorful and robust and the portion of biryani was large with a good amount of heat! We were the only ones at the restaurant at that time, so the service was prompt. Now the ambiance was not the best it seemed very old and outdated and the floors were sticky when I walked. But as long as the food was great I can try to ignore the rest. I went here for the buffet. It's a no thrills place. No server, just a pitcher of water on the table and small plastic cups. I enjoyed all the food, especially their naan, spring rolls, and chicken pakora. Their main dishes weren't spicy at all, but still had good flavor. read more

Usually my experience has been ok but the last 3 times I have been embarrassed in front of guests. Having lunch here today with Family. My first time here. It was very noisy when we came in. There's a Pakistani wedding . They have buffet on weekends only. On weekdays they're Steakhouse. A lot of food , very diverse and delicious. The beef nahri and chicken masala taste great. There's a lot of dessert and free mango lazzy and chai tea. Serving staff are helpful and courteous. Separate Men and Women's bathroom. I can not eat Pakistani/Indian food every week. It's oily and buttery. I can eat their food at least once a month. I'll be back here next month. TIP: Lots of parking space, no worries. They use plastic cups for their drinks, for me it's a setback, so sad. read more

If you love indian food and prefer it mild, this place is not for you. I stressed several times when making my order over the phone that i need my food mild, as mild as it gets. I had indian food countless times before, i know what mild tasts like. This food was as spicy as a Carolina reaper. When i confronted the restaurant over the phone. We recently had our wedding at the Marigold on October 19th and it was truly unforgettable. Food was a big priority for us and Shahi Palace did not disappoint. We had a range of stations and passed apps. They even surprised us with hand crafted watermelons with our initials on them. The food was outstanding and everyone was fan. You might scoff at the "Palace" from the simple exterior, but inside you'll find finely furnished walls of wood paneling and an impressive buffet line featuring at least 20 different dishes. Overall the taste of the food is lacking, but because there's a generous amount of meat over sauce (unlike most buffets), the plates and tables are clean, and the service is consistent and friendly, I rate this as average. Much better buffets to be had for sure though in the surrounding area. The buffet GOOD: - Samosa: miniature in size, maximum in flavor and fluffiness. I appreciated that it was fried perfectly and in fresh oil. - Assorted Kabobs: great flavor, not dry at all! - Halwa: could use more saffron or something, but was very fluffy - Gulap Jamun: had a slightly weird flavor but loved that it was warm and soft - CHICKEN NUGGET: why I tried a chicken nugget here I can't say, but damn was it absolutely delicious The buffet BAD: - Chicken Biriyani and Tandoori Chicken: totally bland - Pani Puri: why is there ice cubes in the pani? We hosted an iftari here for 100 people. While the food was fine, more often than not the food was not being replenished. The lady who was taking care of us was attentive and polite and that's perhaps the only positive thing I can say. The back room which we were given was filthy and cramped. We were assured 100 would be no issue. I had to ask one of the young men working there to clean the mirror at least because just looking at the food smeared across it was nauseating. However, what was most upsetting was having the owners and staff rudely throw out guests our at 9pm for Tirawih prayers. Had they mentioned that we could only have the room till then, we would have definitely not booked the space. Iftar was around 7:35 so people had just finished eating and praying and were just settling down to have chai and socialize only to be rudely told to leave. We held our event on a Saturday night so people wouldn't be rushed. They started banging chair and tables as they began clearing out the room. Our guests were left to hurriedly grab their coats and bags and quickly eat their goodbyes. Never again will I give them out business. read more

This used to be a Steakhouse which got sold out to a desi restaurant. I've been here 6 times already and feel this is one of the finest Desi restaurants in NJ. Authentic punjabi taste. Try their sweets; Kulfi, Kheer, Ras Malai. Everything is made from scratch. The Kashmiri Chai (pink) is great too. Try it the 'Lahori' way with a little bit of Salt and Sugar. Ordered pick up tonight during this insanity. First time having the food from here and was pleasantly surprised. We got Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken and Lamb Vindaloo, with the Bread Basket and two rice puddings. The food was tasty and was ready for immediate pick up. I am writing this review as a vendor/patron. I own a cake/dessert table company and I have set up cake displays at this location several times. Everytime I am here there is no problem! The staff is friendly and courteous. Always helpful when I am catering an event here. Now as a patron- They always have a huge spread for their buffet. Lots of food to choose from with an option for every one. The only downfall I could find with the buffet was that the food was cold. I'm not sure if this was because I ate on the later side of the buffet timeframe or not but it shouldn't matter. The set up for the buffet is a little awkward as well. The food is in one place and the drinks are in another place that wasn't easily visible and made it a bit confusing. As a vendor I would love to come here again as a patron I may pass. read more

So grateful to Shahi palace for providing the most exceptional food for my wedding! I was beyond worried about food for my wedding because everyone knows it's the most important part. Sultan, the owner, helped me pick the perfect menu that would fit so many different kinds of people. I married into a family that cannot have any spice and he picked tasty and flavorful items that did not have spice and some spicy items for those who do like spice. The menu was so perfect! There was even so much leftover that I got to enjoy the leftovers for weeks! My favorites were the steamed chicken and the fried fish. Everyone loved the food including myself and my in laws. I feel like they went above and beyond for me to make sure the food was perfect and the catering staff was super helpful as well. Thank you Shahi palace for making sure my wedding food was the best! They also hosted great food trials and even when I was uncertain and had questions they held another food trial for me.
