Ghar ki yaad aa gayi. (Reminded me of home) My wife and I stopped here for dinner last evening on a complete whim; we were staying in Canmore for a day and decided to try out the new Indian place. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a friendly host; the music was DDLJ instrumental with the backdrop of the snow covered mountains which automatically made us smile. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken and the Palak Paneer. The host gave us fail warning that it would take 20 minutes since kebabs are made fresh to order. We decided to go for them anyway; that was a good decision. The Tandoori Chicken was absolutely delicious. It was so tender and juicy, perfectly marinated with masala penetrating all the way in and just superbly cooked in a tandoor with the right smoky taste and slightly crisp charred bits on the surface. I've been living in North America for many years now and this was definitely my favorite Tandoori Chicken till date. The one thing I would nit pick over is it would do well with a dash of lime and a sprinkle of chaat masala right before serving it. That would be perfection. The Palak Paneer was really good. The curry was a tad heavy on the khade masale (whole spices) and lost a little of the smooth subtle flavors as a result but you could barely notice because it was really delicious. The Paneer itself was very fresh and good quality and also tasted nice unlike many restaurants that just throw it in right as the end. The Tandoori Roti and the Naan were both flawless; perfect crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The owner Raj is extremely friendly. He spent s few minutes talking to every guest and made us feel very warm and welcomed as we chatted a little about the food and his story. Whether you are a local or traveling through Canmore, whether you are desi and like is spicy or have a more subtle palate but want to try some bold flavors, I would very strongly urge you to stop by here and give Raj and his food a shot. You will leave very happy and satisfied. p.s. I usually click pictures of the food but I honestly forgot about it and just gobbled it all down as soon as it came out. We stopped in as we drove through Canmore since my wife and I love Indian. The food was fantastic. We had the Jeera Rice (which has cumin in it). We were told this is very popular in India. It had a very aromatic taste which we loved. Emphasis on " authentic ". It smells of curry and spices when you walk into this place, and everything down to the curtains are from India. The owners, husband and wife, are really friendly and helpful. One of my friends is vegan and they helped her with her order. I was recommended the paneer tawa masala, a house specialty, which was exquisite. My friends were also very impressed with the butter chicken and the beef samosas. The naan is some of the best I've ever had. We were hungry on our way back from a day-long hike and this definitely hit the spot. We were amazed by how authentic the food was here! My family said that the food was even better than the Indian restaurants that we have in Los Angeles. The tandoori chicken was especially juicy and tender. Don't simply go for the butter chicken, the waiter gave us excellent suggestions on different authentic Indian dishes. We especially enjoyed the Lamb Boati Masala, dark and rich with a hint of sweetness. It was so good we took the leftover sauce home! The vegetarian/vegan food here is outstanding. Some of our favorites were the chana masala & daal. This place had the best veggie pakora we've ever had. We dined here twice during our stay in Canmore. We stayed in Canmore for 3 weeks over Feb-Mar and went here 3 times. The food was so delicious, I wish we had gone more! The first time was on Valentine's Day, and many restaurants were closed that Monday, so we were quite happy to find this restaurant open, albeit for takeout only. After we picked up our food and walked home, we realized that our Tandoori Chicken dish was missing. Right at that moment, before we were able to call the restaurant, we received a call from Sunny (who I believe is the chef) saying that he realized the error and would deliver the dish to us. We only found out later that he had closed down the restaurant for a bit in order to make the delivery to us. This level of service went beyond my expectations. The flavours of the food were equally as wonderful as the service. Over the course of 3 weeks, we ordered mango chicken, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, beef vindaloo, and a samosa. Some of these dishes were ordered 2 or 3 times. I have no photos because we devoured it as soon as it was opened. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Canmore, as this place has become a favourite, and would love to enjoy a dine-in experience in the future! read more

Just literally requested them to warm the food again and server called the owner just to argue on this thing that we can't warm up the curry dish again we are busy with helping other customers. We again requested to take their time and warm up again, then owner rudely said we can't do it. We left by paying for all food cooked and food that was still in the kitchen. We spend a few days in Banff, and got a craving for Indian food, figured we get a better deal in Canmore. I'm from the Bay area, so I tend to be pretty picky about Indian food. This place definitely delivered. We got the chicken tikka, chana masala, shahi paneer, chicken Madras Curry, chicken biryani, and chicken Manchurian. Everything was amazing, everything was perfectly spiced. I would recommend all of them. One of the couples in our group got engaged and the owner even gave is a free dessert. This is a decent option for food if you are staying in Canmore. We ordered the garlic naans, dal makhani, a chicken starter, and the madras chicken dish. The naans, the dal and the starter were pretty good. I gave the place 3 stars because the chicken dish (madras chicken) was absolutely devoid of spice and it appeared that the chicken was frozen chicken boiled and then dropped in the gravy rather than cooked with the spices. read more
