The chole was packed with flavor, though the bhatura was thicker than I prefer--I wish it had been thinner and crispier.

We had the chicken pakoras deep fried in a chickpea batter. Great healthy flavor. A side dipping sauce of chutney accompanied the starter nicely. We also tried the Vegetable pakoras with potato and onion. Fresh and crispy. The Yellow Daal Curry had nice flavor of Indian spices, onions, cumin, and coriander. It tasted fresh and healthy. We order with jasmine rice for all of our dishes. Light and fluffy. Very nice portions. The chicken Tikka Masala was not the typical flavor. It was more spicy than creamy and being totally honest they need to re-do this recipe. I have had this dish tons of times and the flavor is totally off. It wasn't bad pre se, just not typical flavors of the dish. I would love to see them re-do this one please! Then let me know and I will come back. It would be so nice as this is my favorite Indian dish. Last we tried the Coconut Curry. We chose to include chicken. I think this was my favorite dish. Lovely fresh coconut flavor and the potatoes were so good! oh...and don't forget to get yourself some garlic naan. Yum Yum. A great place to gather for lunch or dinner with friends and family. Thanks!

I always add paneer to the tikka masala, and it's delicious every time. The rice is simple yet so flavorful, and the desi ranch that comes with the pakoras is absolutely divine. I always order extra! The only thing I wish they offered is dosas. But if you're looking for a quick bite and craving Indian food, definitely give this place a try -- you won't be disappointed.

Started with the Garlic Naan. Heard it was pretty good and I definitely agree. Not only was the bread hot with crispy edges, the flavor of the garlic wasn't too strong but definitely evident and tasty. The Garlic Naan at the south location tasted a tad strange and wasn't as flavorful as the one in the north location, but that may just be an anomaly. My entree was the Dhaba Mutton Curry. You can't say no to bone-in goat. I try to eat different things at restaurants, but after loving it the first time, I had to get it again. The bone-in goat meat is truly tender with occasional pieces of fat. You can really separate the pieces with a spoon. The curry sauce is delicious with just the right consistency to bind with the rice. This dish opened my eyes to the world of goat meat. Seriously. So good. The entree also came with saag paneer (similar to creamed spinach). I don't often rant about vegetables, but this stuff is super delicious. Mix it in with the rice or just eat it by itself, I just can't have enough of it. Can we get endless refills on this? I wanted to ask our waiter, but wimped out. There is an issue with their service though. In the south Austin location, there were only 4 tables with customers, including mine. However, the service was especially slow, specifically after the meal. After showing the waiter our voucher, he put it back down on the table and left. 15 minutes would then go by until they took our voucher again and returned with our check. That's 15 minutes of my party and me aimlessly chatting and glancing around the restaurant. In a near-empty restaurant, speed of service was the last thing I expected to encounter. Other than that, the staff was very friendly and our water glasses were always full.

The mango lassi was overly sweet, and the salted lassi made our 9yo's face contort into a shape I didn't realize was possible. It also took quite a long time to get our order; we saw a lot of people who must have been delivery drivers picking up order after order as we waited about 25-30 minutes for our food. This wasn't great given we were the only customers actually eating at the location. The staff themselves were quite nice, but ultimately I need to score on the food and the time it took to receive it, both of which have room for improvement.

We ordered chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, chooza kebab, vegetable samosas, and butter naan. Overall I would say the food is great for Austin standards. I grew up in Houston and am used to the quality of Aga's and this place isn't quite there. I'm also used to halal meat and I don't believe this place uses halal meat so it's a little more tough than expected for the chicken tikka and butter chicken curries. But as we know there aren't many great options for Indian food in Austin, so with that being said I would recommend this spot. As a desi, if you're ever missing home food then this is the spot for you. Plenty of options and a large variety beyond the basic options that we picked lol.

How have I lived so close by and taken 5 years to discover the best Indian food in South Austin!…read moreBeing Indian myself, I am quite particular about preparations such as malai kofta and find that most places skimp out on the good stuff, but not here. First, there is so much variety on the menu, including several options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and soy-free customers. I ordered the malai kofta, which was absolutely decadent. They served 3 large kofta balls and plenty of gravy. All bowls come with rice. I can't believe they only charge $12 for this meal that can easily fill you up and satisfy. We also ordered the paneer fried rice ($10) and Gobi Manchurian. The quantities were similarly generous, preparations tasted fresh and flavorful, and prices were unbelievably reasonable. I might be addicted to this place already and can't wait to try other items, including their dosas.

We also tried the cremini, pea and paneer curry which was good. The trailer is not much to look at, which in our experience usually means great food! Orders are placed inside the store (they have a great selection inside of other items as well), then food is prepared and picked up at the trailer outside. There is nowhere to eat (we ate in our car) but a great option for takeout.
