In the land of numerous Patel Brothers, this Indian grocery shop aka IGO stands as a tough competitor. They have generous parking space and "you name it, we will have it" kind of presence on almost everything an India ln household kitchen will require - from snacks, fresh produce, frozen, dairy, rice and lentils you get everything here. The staff are kind and directs you to the right spot if you are looking for something. They also house Balaji Flowers and Famous Samosas shops within this store where you get all Hindu religious stuff and fresh chapthis and other Indian chaat items respectively. I rate this place a star less as I've had experience in few instances when I ran into couple of items like Deep's Rava idli mix and some other packed item that was being sold beyond its listed expiry date. The staff apologized and took it off shelf but not an ideal experience considering the safety aspect. read more

Perfect store for south Edison residents. There are many many stores equal to or better than this in oak tree , but why do u need to travel to buy basic groceries. They also have paratha roti making stations and ready to go subzis/gravies. Lots of parking outside ... nicely located .. quick billing . Overall a good experience read more

The service is horrible. I bought a Pista GHARI and as a Punjabi, I don't even know that this stuff is supposed to have ghee in it. I am a Punjabi and we never put ghee in our sweets. I called the company Vadilal and they told me to speak to the retailer. I was on the phone for 5 minutes with the lady who was so rude and nasty that she will just keep arguing rather than take a message for the manager, Ketan, then someone else gets on the phone a gentleman who is really not a gentleman he was another unprofessional, nicely put. He tells me that I've been talking to her for 15 minutes, which was not the case and then this sucker hangs up on me. This is the kind of company this is I spent almost $70 on October 30 on my credit card and I'm gonna call the credit card company and dispute the entire amount for this behavior. That's what they deserve unless you wanna call me back at 908-618-6007. Make sure that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. And I'm gonna call the Edison health department and inform them so they can come and inspect your facility every week as you have multiple complaints about your hygiene already. read more

This is my first time to this place. I was trying to find ingredients for butter chicken and bombay potatoes but for the life of me i couldnt find Kasoori Methi inside the East Brunswick area. Drove 30+ minutes in good ole happy NJ city traffic to drive 5 miles. God i had Middlesex... anyways, i went in and was bumbling about trying to find dried Kasoori Methi. Asked a stock guy and he points me down the isle where it would be. SUCCESS! i have finally obtained this unobtainable herb in East Brunswick. Walked around the isles some more to get other hard to find ingredients i couldn't find before such as chaat marsala. headed over to the frozen, dairy, and vegetable area in the back. not sure why i read in other reviews that the veges were rotten, it all looked good and fresh. The best part is the store doesn't smell unlike other asian groceries like Hong Kong Supermarket. I was expecting a wave of curry smell shoving itself into my nostrils when i entered, but no. If i need any indian ingredients this is gonna be my go to place everytime. read more

They are ok when compared with other grocery outlets for Indian groceries. But the billing people are not nice (barring a very few). They speak ill of the customer in gujrati language. This is my personal experience. In understand gujrati and I have heard them multliple times making fun of the customer and at time using not so nice language. read more

While the idea of buying Indian groceries at a "warehouse price" ala Costco, has an inherent appeal to Indian shoppers, IGO has a long way to go to get there. Prices are not particularly low to begin with, and while the place is large and has a lot of inventory, the produce was not too appealing, and in general the store did not have the selection and shelf arrangement that other big Indian grocery stores like Bhavani have. When I went to this grocery store first, I liked the space and amount of items kept there. However, I realized later after looking around, most of their items are local brands like IGO, Lakshmi, Deep, etc (esp spices) and I prefer buying known Indian brands (like MDH for good quality and flavor). Vegetables are also not fresh. Prices are also not cheap either so it's just an 'Outlet' by name not 'Wholesale'. Expiry dates is another thing that needs to be checked before buying in most of the Indian grocery stores. On another visit, we bought Kohinoor brand rice (available in jute bag) and other items. When I got home and opened the thread of bag (I am very particular about opening the packaging :) ) I noticed the plastic bag inside was tied up (not sealed), I became doubtful. So I untied it and took out handful of rice, there were wheat weevils! (also called 'ghun' in Hindi). Their infestation is so bad that you've no option but to dispose off the whole infested bag otherwise they spread all over other grain and lentil items in the kitchen. We complained about it, the store in-charge apologized and gave us another bag of rice (we bought the sealed plastic bag this time, not the jute bag) in exchange. I wasn't pleased with this experience and not considering it as my regular store for Indian groceries. This location is definitely convenient location in South Edison but I can't compromise on the food quality for my family so going back to Patel Cash and Carry on Oaktree Rd. read more

They should call it Indian Garbage Outlet, stopped in to buy some fresh vegetables, couldn't find much in terms of freshness, more than half of the produce was withered and looked limp and just disgusting, tried asking them and they said, oh it looks like that because the lights are not all on. Really!! They turn the lights on and while the place brightened up, the produce didn't spring back to life. Many many better choices a few minutes away. read more

Buy at your own risk. No return policy. So, if you buy something and on opening the packet if you find it already perished then it's your bad luck. Not the store's responsibility. In few food packets nutritional value is given twice. One is already printed on the packet and second one is a sticker smartly stuck on the packaging /expiry date. If you ask someone at store about the expiry date of that product, you will be said "don't buy it" this smart advice is only for those who are concerned about the expiration date of the product. Keep an eye on the BILLING when they scan an enter the items at billing counter. Please cross check the item prices before leaving store after shopping. I found billing mistakes very often . Billing mistakes include, double scanning of some items, wrong vegetable codes entered which resulted in higher prices, and sometimes entering different weight (eg: 20 Lbs instead of 10Lbs for bag of rice) for the items. So be careful and always watch your bill and make sure everything is correct before leaving the store. Please inspect the expiry dates of the items before buying as I found some items being sold even after the expiry dates. read more

I love to go there for shopping with my kids, Staff and particularly girls @ the cashier counter are very friendly and helpful. They always ask If I found what I was looking for and if they do not carry some items they would ask me if they can order it for me. I'm glad they carry several regional specialty grocery and vegetables. (I'm from south India and their selection in ready to eat items and vegetables satisfy my cravings.) It's a nice outlet prices are reasonable after doing research around food like lentils and masalas all fresh as they sell fast so they always have fresh stock of everything. Vegetables get empty very fast sometimes they should load more vegetables as demand is more . Bottom line good stuff at reasonable price. For me it's worth every penny. read more

It looks like wholesale store and you get lot of Indian groceries, produce, appliances but prices are not at wholesale price they are same as other Indian stores. There is no special reason to go there and buy unless you live around there. read more

Worst Customer Service ...went to this so called store ..Got an oversight the Mexican employees were taking of the date on certain expires packed food packets..So some expired date food packets on shelves. Vegetables and fruits was of lowest quality and has flies and bugs in that area. Store was not clean at all and was not busy at all. When try to ask about item to a Indian Lady who said she is manager had an attitude and was not cooperative at all.She did not care for business and was busy on the phone. She could not speak English and nor understand had to translate in Indian Language by my friends. It was a Big disappointment heard about store being big and grocery at valuable cost. It is a disaster either management don't know to market their store or they doing fault advertisement. Worst thing there were bunch of guys seems were drunk or were drinking alcohol being owners were staring at customers like you see in India .
