Stopped by for a quick bite and wasn't too disappointed. The chicken biryani planner was filling, flavorful, and affordable. I think it definitely wasn't as memorable as other biryanis I've had but really can't complain much for $9 a plate. The chicken was also very tender and shredded easily! I want to try the chicken tikka masala over rice as well. It was nice that could sit next to the building the truck was parked outside of, and I'm sure if we walked around more, we could find actual seating and tables in the area.

Long like in front, good prices but not a huge amount of food. "Veggie Over Rice" very good but too much rice, not enough veggies (cabbage, peas and carrots ) I would've loved to have seen them add other vegetables. I'll definitely try them again but be forewarned, they are HEAVY HANDED with the SAUCE (so be sure to tell them to lighten it up a bit, especially if you add their HOT SAUCE which almost ruined my dish. The White Sauce has a Yogurt, Herbs, ...there was a mint chutney that I asked for but didn't taste. I'm going back to try each of their sauces...nice guys from Bangladesh . Glad they're open 7 days a week - in front of 140 Broadway (just a few blocks north of the famous Bull) right across from a shaded park that has built in polished granite tables for two and benches. I'll be back!

Can't argue with the value proposition in that you can get a huge plate of chicken & lamb & rice with a soda for $10. But it's not as a good as restaurant food equivalents, which makes sense given the pricing. Still though, fine for an office lunch. Chili Chicken & Lamb over Rice: I definitely appreciate the Indo-Chinese offering. The chicken tikka tossed in a bunch of spicy chili sauce along with the sautéed onions and peppers were very nice. The lamb was disappointing though, since it was just chunks of that ground lamb gyro stuff everyone serves up. Paneer Kati Rolls: Well, it's not The Kati Roll Company. The greasy roti is nice, but the filling is just a scoop of matar paneer and some random wilted lettuce. Drier fillings, like paneer tikka, would have been a better choice.

    Small food cart

small food cart parked in FiDi blending flavors from India and the Middle East into a small variety of rice platters, sandwiches, and savory eats. open from lunchtime to late evening most days--there's typically a small line that moves quickly as lunchtime draws the worker crowd / evenings pull a more tourist crowd. ordered a Chicken Tikka over rice while it will not be what you'd get in a sit-down Indian restaurant...it's still good but was more a fusion of flavors in a halal cart style...my order did its job--flavorful, satisfying, and filling. the serving of chicken and rice is ample; there's a tiny salad on the side, and you can top your food with a tangy white sauce as well as hot sauce. service is relatively fast and friendly. and Zuccotti Park is right across the street if you want that al fresco experience without table service!

Came by here to check this place out as they usually have a line of people. They work fast so you will get your food in a fast and timely manner. Chicken Biryani cost $8. The food itself was good. It had a good balance of savoriness and spice. I didn't ask for any spice and added white sauce and mango chutney to it for extra flavor. There were some jalapenos which I thought were very unique. I felt like there could have been a bit more pieces of the rice and chicken as you can tell from the picture almost half of the container is covered with veggies. Overall, still solid place and I can see why there is line out here, especially during lunch afternoon hours.

I've always wanted to try the Indian king biryani house food truck since this food truck would have a huge line every time (pre-pandemic) during lunch hours. The menu is very well displayed and huge given the size and the fact this is a food truck and not a restaurant (well, it's a restaurant on wheels anyway). With all this said, let's talk about the food itself. I've never had such great tasting food from a food truck before. The food was flavorful and wasn't too spicy but had enough spice to entice your tastebuds. The quantity was humongous. We had taken a couple of chicken keema rice and let me tell you, the chicken and rice was amazing. The rice was very well cooked and the chicken too was tender and juicy. There's soda available as well. The prices were good given the quantity of the food at display. This food truck accepts all the major credit cards available on the market (I didn't know this so I had taken cash with me) so that was something new that I got to know. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a good flavorful Indian meal.

Came for a quick bite after an office gathering and saw this cart and thought it was perfect. It was the only cart that had a line and I thought this maybe the good one. I had the lamb gyro. It was good. Meat was a bit soft but overall taste was ok.

    gorgeous Chicken Over Rice Platter

the reason for my chicken over rice addiction is this truck. the flavors here r unique and delicious. great truck that i crave when i'm away from the area. very quick and very very tasty.

The prices here are definitely right. You can get a huge portion for around $7 give or take. The owners are extremely friendly and always smiling. You get the sense that they enjoy working that truck for hours and hours a day. The last positive I will share is that the flavors were strong and wonderful! I had the Chicken Tikka over rice and I was not disappointed. There was a healthy amount of chicken and I could've used more rice and maybe less lettuce. Here's the reason it slips down to 3 versus 4 stars... it looks disgusting in the styrofoam container. After they pile up all the ingredients, including the rice, lettuce, protein, tomato, and onion... and then they add hot sauce and white sauce, the dish becomes a sloppy mess. Now I'm a reasonable person... it's a food truck, and it's to-go (or take-away for our international readers), and presentation is never the goal in a situation like this. However, I would argue that sauces could be shared in separate containers, and perhaps instead of piling everything on top of each other, the lettuce, onion, and tomato can be placed in one partition of the container, while the rice and protein exist on the other. Is this nit-picky? Perhaps. Was I grossed out and a little embarrassed when others at work saw the sloppy pile of goods I was eating with delight... a little bit. Remember, I did say that it tasted good... it's just hard to endorse it a solid 4, knowing that one day you're going to look at it and say, "really"?

Normally you would never catch me eating from a food cart of the streets but NY is an exception. Holy shit this place was really good. The line was long too but the owner and his workers are really efficient and get the line moving fast. We only waited about 10 minutes. We were in the area and I was going to eat at another spot but this place popped up and with all the good ratings I couldn't pass it up. The Kati rolls by far were my favorite they were probably better than the kati roll company place I had in midtown. Oh and they give you 2 for $6.00. If I lived in NY I probably would eat this every day. My husband got the chicken biryani and I ordered the chicken tikka plate. A lot of food. Too much food yes...did I eat it all...No :( I was able to eat one kati roll no problem but the chicken tikka plate was a lot for me. My husband enjoyed his biryani which I forgot to take a pic. It had a hard boiled egg in it. Anyways the rice for the chicken tikka was really good it was nice and thin and very flavorful I even put some of the rice in my kati roll. It tasted so good. The chicken tikka was okay the chicken pieces were a little big for me, I like mine a little smaller but that's just my preference. I liked the salad that accompanied it as well as the yogurt white sauce they put on it. All in all bomb ass food. The owner was very friendly and the food was fantastic. A total must to try. There is a park right across the street that you can sit down and enjoy your food at.

Arrived at 930am for breakfast. Lol I ordered the Kati roll. Lamb Kati roll!!! Best damn roll ever. It's like a wrap but with lamb. And the amazing white sauce. Coming from California, this halal food is awesome. I always eat breakfast and most places weren't opened. This food cart stuck out though because there was a line (at 930a) when the other carts nearby didn't have a line. The lamb was juicy. The sauces made it even better. I opted for no spicy sauce though. Just the white sauce. So glad they were able to make me a Kati roll in the morning. Very delicious. $6 too. What a deal. Woot woot! Ps. When they're cooking, don't stand too close to the cart or else you'll end up smelling like the food lol

Long lines during weekday lunch times and good word of mouth via Yelp make Indian King Biryani House one of the most popular carts in the downtown FiDi area. But the question is, is the praise warranted? In my opinion, yes and no. First, the good. The menu at this cart is huge and in all of my years of eating from food carts, I don't recall ever seeing a menu with so many items listed. They have multiple sections to their menu falling into either Veggie Halal, for the non-meat eaters, or Special Indian, which is for the carnivores. There's your usual lamb over rice and chicken over rice and chicken/lamb biryani dishes, but where this cart really differentiates itself are the other mouth-watering items listed, such as, saag paneer with naan/rice, tikka masala or the multiple curry dishes. I didn't get to try them, but rest assured I will definitely be back for them. Since it was my very 1st time at Indian King, I went with the traditional Chicken Biryani. Can't lose with that one right? Unfortunately, I didn't find it as satisfying as I thought I would. I've had biryani numerous times from the other biryani cart nearby, Biryani House Cart, and I definitely would prefer the biryani from there. All of the right ingredients were in this biryani dish, including the half tea egg. However, what disappointed me was the rice. The rice was dry and over-cooked. It surprised me that something so simple could be overlooked, but the dryness of the rice really took away from the rest of the dish since there was so much rice. The rice is really the cornerstone of chicken and rice or biryani and when the rice is not where it needs to be, it's obvious. In addition, the chicken was in very large chunks and not cut up into smaller pieces. I typically prefer smaller pieces of protein because with larger pieces I tend to eat it within a bite so there tends to be less protein as I get closer and closer to finishing. I won't fully judge the cart just on 1 dish, but not fully coming through on one of their signature and more popular dishes is a bad start. We'll see how it fares for round 2.

A bang for your buck. I could only try chicken biryani and it is so yum. I tried the biryani with their hot sauce and white sauce. This added so much flavor into the rice and chicken. A must try if you are in the neighborhood. P.S: I have never had such a tasty biryani even in one of the best restaurants in the City.

But don't be expecting some sarcastic-ass review that tells you just how terrible this joint is so I can have it all to myself. So, let's be clear - this place is good. And I sincerely want you to stay far, far away. That being said, this truck's not found at different locations on different days of the week, tracked down by Twitter-savvy foodies. No, it's tucked itself away in a parking lot off Spring Street between Hudson and Varick (ridiculously referred to as the Hudson Square Urban Courtyard on the website), mostly hidden from pedestrian peripheral vision unless being specifically sought out (something we both now know you wouldn't dare). And, to be honest, its virtual non-existence on food truck blogs doesn't make it any more exclusive or underground or cooler than its nomadic brethren. However, (just when you were wondering when the hell we were going to get to the barbecue bit) it does so happen to make a super-addicting, super-satisfying, super-delicious BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwich. And I'm super-serious. On any given workday, I know that this tremendous lunch option (packaged at $10 with a side and Strawberry Lemonade) is available to me, further evidenced by the free sandwich that awaits me on my next visit from my five-time punched Katchie Card kept in my wallet. Served on a Martin's potato roll and with a BBQ sauce that sits only a notch or two thicker than the vinegar-thin finish of a Carolina variety, this sandwich only gets better with a melted slice of New York State Cheddar. I gotta say, I was certainly skeptical of cheese on pulled poultry at first, but after giving it a go, it's got my blessing. Yet if chicken just ain't your thing, the Katchkie Farm Veggie Burger is a fantastic alternative, which, mind you, you won't hear me say about veggie burgers all too often. And I really don't know what type of vegetables they mash up and destroy in order to form this patty, but the end result is something decidedly not cardboard-like. Joined by a thick tomato slice, their homemade tomato jam, and their homemade chive roll, and we've got a pretty strong back-up plan put into place. Their sides can either be a little too stingy (a small helping of their sounds-better-than-it-really-is Potato Salad with Eggs and Dill) or a little too simple (the just-plain-boring Heirloom Tomato and Cucumber Salad). And while I personally enjoy the aforementioned Strawberry Lemonade, I recognize it might be a little too sweet for some. The Katchkie Truck is part of the Great Performances catering company, which seems like quite the classy operation with the high-quality, farm-fresh hook-up just two hours north of the city. They also have occasional specials, where I've heard rumors of a Duck Confit Quesadilla. The two-man crew working the [im]mobile kitchen are a friendly bunch, but the service can be on the slow side. The low count of in-the-know customers helps out in spades here as this handful of people in line seems to be just the speed for the staff. Naturally, if there is a spike in numbers, I'm gonna find out. Seriously, I'm here pretty much every week. And you can be sure I'll be the creep judging you from across the lot, staring you down uncomfortably with eyes that scold you for not heeding my warning, complete with a BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwich hanging out my mouth. That's just how I roll, sucka.

We opted to try the chicken and veggie sandwiches and yum, did they hit the spot. Everything was fresh as can be and the gentleman offered to toast the sandwiches for us. The charred chicken sandwich was served on pretzel bun with provolone cheese, BBQ sauce, and a summer slaw, while the veggie sandwich was wheat bread with summer squash, eggplant, radish, and homemade pesto. I also tried the blackberry lemonade which was fresh and tasty but did not have a ton of flavor (definitely made from scratch and no sugar added) so might not be for everyone.
