Really enjoyed my meal at Bengal Tiger. They had a dinner prefixed meal for an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $30. Relatively really reasonable for the area. The service was friendly and our water cups remained full. I'm really happy to say that when they told me the vindaloo was spicy it actually was. I asked for an 8/10 and not sure I could have done much more. As for the appetizer I got the pakora and rasamalai for dessert. Loved the rasamalai!

This was a great meal. I had Chicken Curry with Coconut Naan Bread and my daughter had Chicken Masala with Garlic Naan Bread. They both were delicious. The coconut gave the bread a sweet flavor. The service was outstanding.

Lovely spot in nyc. Honestly one of the best Indian spots I have had. Staff was very nice and gave their warnings about the spicy vindaloo. But as someone who can handle spice it was super tasty and flavorful. I recommend coming here especially for their lunch special which is pretty popular!

Tandoori Chicken, Tikka Masala, Korma

A cute restaurant with great service. Food came out quickly, tasted delicious, good portion size, and staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered garlic naan, cheese naan, tandoori chicken, chicken tika masala, and lamb korma. The cheese naan was pleasantly delicious and went well with the masala and korma. The tandoori chicken has nicely charred on the outside and still moist on the inside. I never had lamb korma before but definitely will get it again next time.

Show lessWe ordered delivery from Bengal and overall the quality was still really good. The garlic naan was fresh and flavorful, the chicken tikka masala had great flavor, and the vegetable samosas were crispy. My only issue lately has been the spice level. The samosas were much spicier than they used to be, and the last two times I've ordered I specifically left notes asking for the chicken tikka masala to be mild/not spicy, but it still came extremely spicy to the point where it was burning my mouth and hard to eat. The food itself is clearly made well and tastes good, so I'm hoping this is just a consistency issue with spice levels because I've enjoyed ordering from here in the past.

Lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, & garlic naan

Pleasantly surprised. Pretty authentic for a place in midtown manhattan. Mango lassi - near perfect. Was slightly more on the yogurty side (vs mango), but was delicious. Lamb biryani - loved the lamb! Super tender. Good amt of spice, making it flavorful but not spicy. (Ordered medium) Chicken tikka masala - loved the sauce! Again, super flavorful but not too spicy (also medium). The chicken was a tad dry though, so it wasn't perfect Solid place. Would go back

Amazing experience from beginning to end! Seriously great service with Ambiance (5/5): the inside was nicely decorated and the aromas were delightful. The tables felt pretty snug next to each other. Service (5/5): Exceptional service from beginning to end. Service really blew us away. Our waitress and the staff were ready to fill our waters, change our plates, serve our dishes at a lightening pace. Before the incorrect even touched our table, we told the waitress that we had ordered the chicken, not the veggie version. She comped the dish and re-placed our intended dish for free! Wow that was unexpected and grateful for. We ordered from the 3-course menu $28. Food (5/5): Samosas: super flavorful sauce with a fresh crust to each bite. Keema and vegetable were both good. Korma and Vindaloo were both superb!! We both preferred the korma slightly more. Vindaloo was not too spicy as warned. Both dishes came with a small side of rice. Quality of meat was not great which was my only qualm. Naan was large, fresh, and soft. Gulab was one singular serving but the richness from the syrup was definitely enough for the palate. The front check in area had easily 20 take out orders. This business knows how to churn them out with high quality taste.

Went here today for lunch - Friday. They had a lunch special which was $20 for an appetizer and an entree with basmati rice. Service was great and quick. It's a small and really nice spot for something casual or a little fancier. It's right next to Central Park so a good stop before walking off lunch. We had samosas which came out piping hot and a really nice mix of a sweet and spicy chutney that was really good together. We had the chicken tikka masala and the Channa with Spinach. They asked about allergies and was able to customize the channa dish to remove milk products. We also ordered the garlic naan which came out hot and fresh too. Portions a big. We would go back.

Maybe I was expecting too much, but I thought Bengal Tiger was just okay. I'm a huge fan of lunch specials and was rly excited to try this spot after seeing glowing reviews on Yelp. But alas, left slightly disappointed. Tried the Lamb Vindaloo ($20) and the Paneer Makhani ($18) lunch specials and the lamb samosa as an app. Also got a mango lassi. The paneer was good, but there weren't many chunks of lamb in the Lamb Vindaloo and it was rather tough. Also got the naan which didn't come with the lunch deal, but it was buttery and warm. Service is okay, and the inside is cute, but I think there are better lunch deals even in the area. They do refill your rice for you which is a plus.

Our local Indian restaurant for takeaway - delicious and fresh garlic naan, veggie samosas and saag paneer. Can't wait to eat there!

They have a great pre fixe here that give you an appetizer, a main, and a dessert! Lots of options to choose from for each category. For the app I got the Vegetable Samosa. The filling was smooth, spiced well, and the bread was fried super crispy. Tamarind and mint chutneys were great as well mmmmm I love tamarind chutney so much I licked it clean. For the main I was feeling spicy so I got the Chicken Vindaloo and let me tell you they do not hold back with the spice here! I feel like other places hold back a bit when it comes to spice but they go full force here, I was sweating! They gave us some Cucumber Raita on the house too. The pre fixe doesn't come with naan but how can you not order naan. This one was beautiful. The bottom was so crisp I was shocked! Ive never had a naan so crispy yet soft before.

The samosas

This place felt like a Michelin star restaurant and fine dining at its best without the accompanying high price tag. Their entrees are in the $22 range, they also offer a prix fixe of appetizer, main course, and dessert for $30pp. The service was outstanding, with my water refilled and drips cleaned off my table as soon as I made a mess. Great date spot, no loud music. Friendly staff and the dishes were delicious. I will be back!

We went to Bengal Tiger before a show at Carnegie Hall since it's conveniently close by. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and the portions were generous while the service was quick and efficient. The restaurant is a little small inside but very clean and quaint. We also ordered the garlic naan, which was really good and paired perfectly with the meal. They offer a fantastic three-course prix fixe for $30. I started with the chicken pakora, which was incredible. The only thing I didn't really care for was the kheer (rice pudding), but overall it was a great experience and I'd definitely go back.

Ask the Community - Bengal Tiger

Do you serve wine or may we bring our own?

We serve wine and beer.

Is this the same restaurant once located in Washington DC?

No. We have no branches in Washington DC

Will it be easy to get a table for 2 after a matinee on saturday?

Probably

Good for solo diners?

Yes. Welcome !

How good are they at being careful regarding tree nut allergies? We've had bad experiences at many Indian restaurants because servers were unaware that some Indian "spice mixes" used in cooking contain ground cashews.

I have a severe almond allergy and made them aware, they were really good at making sure my meal had no almonds. The team there are really aware of allergies, that was the impression I got.

Good for gluten free?

Rice and curries must be gluten free. Avoid breads and ask the waiter. They were very helpful.

It's a Birthday can I bring a small cake?

Sure! We will gladly keep in fridge till you need it. Happy birthday:)

Is this place halal?

Yes

Is this place BYOB?

Yes they are byob.

Are they halal?

Yes!

Would you be able to accommodate a party of more than 5?

The place is small but they're super nice and accommodating! I'd recommend you calling them or stopping by ahead of time and asking them what the best time to get there so you don't have to wait a super long time.

Do you take/recommend reservations?

Hi Kelsey, i am sorry but we don't take reservations. Usually the wait is around 30 to 40 minutes during peak hours. Thank you so much for you interest in our restaurant. Gave…

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday. $46 for a 2-course brunch is a great deal for an elevated meal, especially since the two courses come with a side ("accompaniment"). Quick heads up if you've been to the original in New Delhi, while they share a name, the New York experience pales in comparison. New Delhi is a full tasting menu with bold, unique flavors and presentation. New York is much more westernized, a fusion fit for the American palate. Service was consistent throughout, though not the most helpful when it came to menu questions - don't expect much guidance if you're trying to decide between dishes. They start you off with a tiny mug of pumpkin soup, creamy and delicious. The burrata comes as a big ball of cheese with crispy lotus root for scooping. The dal with naan as your accompaniment is a generous portion and the dal is beautifully flavored. The tawa paneer has a lovely presentation but the flavor didn't stand out. Coorg black pork was moist and paired perfectly with the cracklings. Best part of the meal was the Truman Bazaar cocktail - Truman vodka, suze, and tomato foam. Sweet, bitter, and spicy all at once - a genuinely unique combination.

As someone natively from South India, I was genuinely thrilled to find a South Indian restaurant on…read morethe west side of Manhattan -- these spots are almost exclusively concentrated around Murray Hill and the east side. So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha?
