I came here for the ayce weekend lunch buffet! I was very happy with the selection of dishes - many curry entrée options, meat options, a salad bar, masala chai (love), and other little entrees like samosas. I will say I got full very quickly, but enjoyed all the dishes I tried. service was very friendly and attentive, we got there bright and early on Saturday so it was pretty dead but maybe would fill up later in the day. The inside ambiance reminds me of ballroom seating - very classic Indian resteraunt style!

Went here for dinner one night. We tried a variety of curries, both vegetarian and meat based. Food was pretty mediocre, bland and didn't taste too fresh. Ambiance is quiet and empty, which was probably due to the quality of the food. Wouldn't come again given the amount of other delicious food in the area.

Mutton 'Biriyani' with green beans carrots and corn. No taste no salt. Bad rice. Just awful.

Biriyani was the worst I have ever tasted. You used a vegetable pulao and just added some meat to it. It had beans carrots corn and green pepper. Awful. I will make sure I post this review on every food website. Also dosa was missing the coconut chutney.

Weekend Lunch Buffet (everything is kept super warm and fresh!)

Came here for the weekend lunch buffet. For $19.95, they offer quite a few items. There's a salad bar, two types of dessert/sweets, masala chai, as well as ~10 types of entrees and appetizers. I was pleased by the high-quality vegetables included in the salad bar! The cucumbers, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes were all crisp, vibrant in color, and notably fresh. Our favorite entrees included the goat curry and mattar paneer. Their naan is the only thing made to order, but each food item in the buffet line is contained within a heating unit that allows everything to remain very hot. Even the samosas tasted like they were straight off of the stove. Service is a little slow, and we waited a while before flagging someone down for our check. Overall, Shan-A-Punjab is a great spot for lunch buffet to try an array of fresh, high-quality, and authentic Indian food.

The restaurant has a nice modern interior with a tasteful and welcoming vibe. It's located near a busy neighborhood and has a few off-street parking spots with plenty of street parking. The service can be a little slow, but I think they just don't want to be too much of a bother. The portions are very good and each dish had good flavors. We had quite a bit of leftovers and are looking forward to it!

I was thrilled to find an Indian buffet spot! A lot of them stopped offering buffet during the pandemic and never brought it back. Weekend lunch buffet is about $20 per person. For the buffet, they had rice, egg rice, chicken tikka masala, goat curry, a bean dish, a cauliflower dish, a paneer dish, small veggie samosas, tandoori chicken for the mains. There was also chai, dosas, and gulab jamun. You could get naan (garlic option too) for the table. Our server didn't know about the Yelp 10% discount but he still honored it. There is street parking and it seems like a there is also a very small lot for the restaurant too.

Shan-A-Punjab is a great spot! Upon arrival, the waiter brought out some complimentary papadum to the table, which was the perfect way to start out the meal. I really enjoyed trying the 3 sauces it came with, each of which had a totally different flavor. We ordered garlic naan, lamb curry, and duck vindaloo. The entrees came with plenty of rice, which helped to soak up the curry, in addition to the naan. If you're a fan of spice, order the curry spicy for a nice kick. Overall, it seems like this is more of a takeout spot, but the restaurant itself has a decent ambiance. I think it's worthwhile to dine in, even if just to try the papadum! Pro tip: I checked in on Yelp and received 10% off. I was impressed that they honored the discount, gold star in my book!

veggie or shrimp samosas 5/5 - so good! chicken kadai 3.5/5 rogan josh 4.5/5 This place was my saving grace during the pandemic when I had mad cravings for Indian food and didn't want to order from a place where delivery would take too long. Their veggie or shrimp samosas dipped in whatever curry dish are amazing. The samosas are always cooked well with a crispy outside layer that is well seasoned and filling that is flavorful. I had actually never gone to dine in the restaurant so I made it a point to go. The restaurant interior is quite nice with table settings that feel upscale. It wasn't busy when I went for dinner on a weekend. I've a feeling they receive many orders for delivery by the state of their back counter filled with online orders ready for pick up. Service was ok. Our host was polite, but took some time to take our order and get us our bill. We had to wave them over even though the restaurant wasn't busy for water refills or any requests that we had. The restaurant does have a small, small parking lot that fits maybe 5 cars. If the lot is full, there is also metered street parking.

Disappointed this time around. The chicken tikka masala was mostly sauce and few chicken pieces. For $18, I'd expect more than just sauce.

    What time does dinner start?

I'm not sure what you mean because they never close. They don't differentiate between lunch and dinner prices. They'd be open for 3 PM for "dinner" if you need it then.

It's a popular choice for group dinners, especially with friends or classmates looking for a filling, social meal. The space is modern and energetic, with individual burners built into each table for a more personal hot pot experience. It gets busy during dinner hours and weekends, but the atmosphere adds to the fun, communal feel. Service is generally attentive, with staff bringing out orders steadily and checking in to swap broths or refill items as needed. The menu offers a good variety of thinly sliced beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and classic hot pot additions like fish balls, tofu, mushrooms, and leafy greens. The meat quality is solid for AYCE, and portions come out quickly enough to keep the meal moving. Broth options range from lighter house broths to spicier selections, letting you customize the experience to your preference. While it may not be the most premium hot pot in the area, the value is strong for the price point, and the unlimited format makes it easy to try a bit of everything. Overall, Blue Sakura is a reliable AYCE hot pot destination in Allston, great for casual group outings, celebrations, or whenever you're craving a big, comforting meal.

You're given a 90-minute limit, which is more than enough time, especially because the service is incredibly fast. Pro tip: order your broth and a few starter items first, then decide what else you want. We took forever deciding what we wanted and then everything showed up at once, which was overwhelming. It's much better to order in small batches so you can pace yourself, figure out what you want to try, and avoid ordering more food than you can possibly eat. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio where the steady cool breeze refreshed us. The small appetizer plate with falafel and hummus was my favorite part of the meal. The falafel were flat and oblong, crispy and flavorful. I appreciated the texture of the hummus and babaghanoush (hearty and chunky, rather than smooth). The lamb adana and chicken Adana were delicious as well, complemented with pickled purple cabbage, red and white rice, and roasted green chili pepper (caution--spicy even if you remove the seeds!). Generous portions! We shared three entrees among 4 of us, along with two small appetizers and had two take home containers!

Love love love this place…read more First night in Brookline and walking to Whole Foods for supplies, we saw two big families leaving here looking happy and sated and rubbing their tummies; so after our shopping we came for dinner right at dusk, and immediately sat outside. Our server Bahar was so kind and helpful: I have a dairy allergy and really wanted to try the Ali Nazik, but the lamb marinade has dairy, we we got the Sultan's Delight (same smoky eggplant puree with baked lamb). We also ordered Chicken Adana, and the small appetizer with falafel and hummous; all to share for 3 of us. Our fourth got the Iskender Kabob for himself. Bahar first brought a bean salad (so fresh and light) and bread (yum). Then the appetizer: the falafel was flat (not spherical) which meant the surface area of crunchiness increased--so delicious; and the hummous was much grainier than I've had, which gave it such a lovely texture. Bahar came out with the Sultan's Delight, and rushed back apologetic that the chef used dairy today, so we ordered a second appetizer with babaganoush and falafel (we really needed more falafel once we got a taste)--the babaganoush was, like the hummous, grainier in texture than we were used to and so pleasing to eat. If it weren't for my dairy allergy, we might never had ordered the chicken adana kebab, which was so flavorful and lovely: the orange rice was so nutty and made my mouth happy. We realized that we wanted to try the Lamb Adana Kebab, which had such a phenomenal flavor palate with a nice spicy kick. The peppers that came with the entrees were like sneaky super hot shishito peppers in flavor. Bahar took such lovely care of us, we had an amazing meal.

The restaurant was festive, playing Christmas music and decorated for the holidays. Pretty cheap compared to other buffets in the area if you're looking for that. However, I had a pretty uncomfortable experience at my visit today that hadn't happened at prior visits. It was a slow Thursday lunchtime for them and we were instructed to seat ourselves after waiting a couple minutes for the host to finish her conversation with a coworker. We only got water for beverages and had our plates taken once and water refilled once. I didn't particularly feel like the service/attention to us was great, so I left a tip that I felt was appropriate. Most of the time we were eating, the servers were just sitting at a table talking with each other or on the phone as it was slow. The lady who was charging my card was staring at me and the screen to see what tip option I would select. When I put in a custom amount, she got upset with me and made a scene about it. I felt that this was not only unnecessary, but rude and caused a loss of a repeat patron to this business. My friend that I was with was visibly uncomfortable and he felt pressured to leave a bigger tip after I was charged first. Then as we walked out, the host was very dismissive to us when we said bye and to have a good rest of their day. Overall, at least for myself, this place isn't worth the lower price tag for service and food like that. It's unfortunate because prior to this experience, I was telling my friends about this place, but this will no longer be the case. Hopefully they can better their service standards.

Even though we were there by 6pm and put names down for a table the wait was like 45 minutes! Clearly they are very popular and for good reason - it's an ayce buffet with hot pot! So to pass the time, we went next door to Petco and wandered around looking at the animals, fish in aquariums and birds/ parrots. We were seated in a corner table in the back and it was completely packed - it's quite a large space and looks recently renovated good lighting and modern decor. The buffet itself is huge quite extensive with all kinds of veggies, greens, starchy vegetables, tofu, fish cakes, imitation crab, noodles, and also a sauce bar with a very large variety of sauces. I filled my plate up and got a couple bowls of sauces. I got the kimchi broth while the hubs got the pork bone broth. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! I ordered the chicken off the menu which was only $3 and the price of the buffet per person was $25 which is not bad at all for all the food there is. Oh and there is also a soft serve station with cones and vanilla and matcha flavors - hubs got a cone each! I tried the vanilla one it was great!!
