Ok, I've gotten takeout and dined in a couple times since my first review, and I definitely need to upgrade it. The food has been excellent, the meal for 2 specials are such a great deal, and even the naan size has improved. Service has generally been good too. On my last visit 2-3 months back, the interior was still a work in progress. I mean that literally - raw materials stacked in corners, booths being moved into place, and contractors were coming in and out the building (not disruptive though). I'm curious how it will turn out, and will update again once I see it finished. read more

Came here for a late lunch which was nice because it wasn't busy. We ordered chicken momo (I didn't have any), veggie samosas and malai kofta with naan. First the pros: Service was fast and friendly, spice level was on point, and the naan was some of the best I ever had. Now for the cons: I feel weird saying this, but I wish there was more flavor. The food wasn't bad, but it was lacking something. The samosas and malai kofta, which is usually my go to at any Indian restaurant, seemed like they were missing a spice. I'm glad I tried it, but probably will go somewhere else when I need to satisfy my Indian food craving. read more

I gave this place a try and was presently surprised by the amount of light in the space! The old space was dark and moody which was a vibe but seeing the light come in was nice! The food was awesome!! They have so many great options to choose from! I had the fish tikka and my boyfriend had the chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were fantastic. (I used the masala sauce on my fish and it was a Home run!!!) The apps were good! I probably won't get the mixed veggie pankora again but the chicken one was very good! Service was quick, food was so hot and fresh when it arrived to the table, naans were awesome. Overall, great food, service and vibe. We visit often to St. Paul and we had high hopes for this restaurant. He came here for dinner with a party of 6 people. We live in southern California and frequently go to several great local Indian restaurants. I had the Tandori chicken which I thought was pretty good. My kids had the curry dishes and felt that the chicken was a bit rubbery. Maybe a bad day. I'll considering trying this place alone to see if worth visiting again with the family. read more

I've gotten takeout from Indian Kitchen a couple times now and am obsessed with their paneer pakora with cilantro chutney. The Rogan Josh is delicious as well, medium heat and scooped up with some garlic naan. I like that you can order directly on their website instead of being uncharged on food delivery apps. We're so excited to have an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood! The interior of the restaurant feels bright, clean, and welcoming. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. We tried the mix pakora, garlic naan, matar paneer, and rogan josh. Everything was flavorful, and the naan was the perfect thickness and texture. The food could have been more spicy, my husband ordered "very hot" but it still could have held up to more heat. We're looking forward to trying more of the menu, and are especially interested in some of the "dinner for two" options. read more

Omg. This place opened up in our neighborhood and it smelled amazing. The bread basket (3 types of naan) is worth it-the lamb naan is especially tantalizing. Every dish we have ordered was outstanding. From the tender, boneless lamb in the Rogan Josh to the incredibly flavorful paneer dishes and the chicken and mushroom in a creamy sauce! Their staff is kind and thoughtful-they even included an extra dessert on New Years! We are lucky to have them so close to home. read more

Modern space with pretty and simple decor, table linens and reasonable prices. We arrived at 5:15 on a weeknight and there was only one other table of customers so we were offered a comfortable booth. More tables filled over the next hour until it was quite busy. We ordered three dishes and naan. The server who took out order was attentive and polite, so we were surprised when the food was delivered in big hurry by someone who all but tossed the dishes onto the table in a big hurry, literally dropping the dish of rice as he raced by - and then they forgot the naan until we later asked for it. The food was not as good as we had hoped it would be, but that might be due to what chose. We tried two street food items, including Panipuri, the small crisp balls with potato filling to which you add flavored water from a small bottle. It's an interesting combination of taste and textures. Also, we ordered a stuffed flatbread with Chana masala, which was less successful because it was not really stuffed naan, but instead plain naan folded in half with some seasonings between the layers and a side of very spicy masala. The most disappointing item was the shrimp curry - we orders medium spice but it was very bland and slightly sweet with the unmistakable flavor of "too-long-on-the-steam-table," the slightly stale flavor that sauces and soups acquire when held too long in the pot near the boiling steam. We would be willing to try again - maybe other choices off the menu would be better. read more

Checked this place out tonight with my husband and kids and we were impressed. Food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. My 4 year olds loved the mango lassi, rice, and paneer stuffed naan (they're not too adventurous yet). I enjoyed the dal soup, samosas, and paneer tikka masala. My friend recommended this place while I was in town, and I am so glad we went! This is one of the best South Asian meals I've had in the Twin Cities. Everything we ordered was very fresh -- like they had taken it straight out of the pan and to our table -- and incredibly flavorful. The portions are generous, as well. I'd highly recommend the Paneer Chili (it's in the starter section but could definitely be taken as a main dish). The breads we had were also delectable. Pros: We split the Tandoori dinner for 2. Good tasting food, with several different types of meats.Though we ordered our meal spicy/hot and only the first couple bites seemed adequately spicy, then the spice level faded away. Cons: Our waitress was very inattentive, other than coming over to take our order she only stopped by our table if we called her over and it was a challenge to get her attention, so we waited a long time, several times. The food was brought to us by someone else, we were never asked how our food was, we never got a water refill without requesting one, after a long wait for someone to look our way. We even tried to get alternative assistance from the bus boy , but he was very good at looking at the floor. The restaurant didn't seem overly busy when we got there, and was almost empty by the time we left. Hard to make up any excuse for the poor quality service. Chips Clubhouse had much better mood lighting and ambiance. This place is too brightly lit and too plainly decorated to be interesting in anyway other than the flavor of the food. I frequent places that have a good marriage between quality food, attentive service and interesting/entertaining ambiance at a reasonable price point . This place has some room to grow. I'd consider going back, but I'm going to give them some time make some necessary changes. read more

Although we came at the closing of lunch time, they were very polite and seat us. This was our first time coming to the place, on the recomendation of some friends, and we were impressed with the presentation of the place; real tablecloth, ironed and spotless, the menu was easy to understand, and the waiter was very helpful. Very impressed. They've been open a week so I think it's fair to say they are working out service which was a tad slow. However, they are very attentive & friendly. The minute you walk in the door the aroma of good Indian fare surrounds you. Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with vegetable samosas. Very generous in size with pastry that is crispy & buttery enrobing a tasty vegetable concoction. The vegetable biryani, chicken Shani korma and shrimp masala were all perfectly prepared. Vegetables had flavor & texture, not overcooked. The chicken was juicy, not dry. The shrimp was plump and again, not overcooked. Give this spot a try. Liquor license coming soon. So much to choose from! Ambiance was somewhat elegant with white linen tablecloths and cloth napkins. Service was excellant, attentive and polite. The curries were very delicious, spiced in levels 1-5. Each of found the spicing well matched to our tastes. I chose Aloo Mater, conservatively spiced at level 1. I found it very flavorful and rate it 5*. Friends tried more medium level spice levels in dishes like the Chicken Vegetable Curry and Aloo Chana Dhamaka Balti. They were very pleased with their choices. We then made our way to O'Shaughnessy-Frey Theatre for a wonderful play "Mrs Krishnan's Party" to close out our evening. Can't wait to go back to enjoy spicier dishes. It will take some time to try them all. read more

First visit to this new place. Nice dining area and helpful staff. The food is wonderful and prices are very good . We loved the onion naan and all three of our entrees. Large number of vegetarian dishes as well as meat and fish. Free parking in the back. Liquor license in the works. We plan to return and also get takeout in the future. read more

I now have found my Indian place. I've just sworn off it. I love the location in my outer hood. We got there right at 4 when they reopen. We started with a veggie samosa that we enjoyed. I liked the mint dipping sauce best. I sampled the dal made with yellow lentils. I got the tomato soup that I loved. It had bits of tomatoes in it. A generous cup, one of the best I've had. Interesting how they even offer you a choice with how spicy you want your soup. It was a perfect day for soup also. That was enough for me and I didn't need an entree. I had a few bites of Basil's shrimp biryani. He got it medium, probably will get it less spicy next time, but it was delicious. He kept it in the cool serving bowl where it stayed super hot, but no need for a plate. I thought the portion size was just right. The star for me was the kheer, aka rice pudding. Perfect flavors and consistency. Nice and cold to please the palate. It goes down so easy and I'll probably get it every time. That portion you'll probably want a little more of. Only complaint, with all the amazing hot teas they offer the iced tea is on the gun. C'mon give us a good freshly brewed black iced tea. I really like how the tables for two are above average in size and give you plenty of room. What a great fit, the last place although good was a ripoff. Not here. You can tell the owner loves to cook her home dishes and there is quite a variety. Also that they are open on Monday is a big plus. read more

Absolutely yes, this place is super delicious! You've got to try it. I went with a friend, our children, and we all found something we enjoyed. Just a heads-up, even the medium spice level is pretty fiery, so if you're not into spicy food, I'd recommend starting with the mild. Everything was absolutely tasty, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is bright, spacious, and very clean - they did a lovely job on the remodeling. We were sad when Chips closed but are happy this Indian restaurant opened soon after. Three of us tried it for the first time, each choosing different entrees. All were excellent! Flavorful, hearty. We hope to return soon. The wait staff was attentive and pleasant. The only cricism we have is the extremely bright lighting - it detracts from what could be a nice calm ambiance.
