I bought a new cookbook, Indian-ish by Priya Krishna, and Indian Spice store is my go to. They had everything I needed. And I mean everything. And the friendliest employees provided the best service when I was lost within the spice section. Which is super extensive, btw. Lentils, rice, ajawain seeds, fenugreek, mustard seeds, asafetida, coriander, cumin seeds, chile powder, green chiles, curry leaves, and so much more. Indian Spice Store had every ingredient I needed. And now, my dinner tastes like perfection. And the best part, everything was reasonably priced. I would have found half the spices and spent double the price in a traditional grocery store. I'll be back. I'm hip to the spice game now. read more

The store is kinda hard to find ( behind the yoga place), and parking sucks here! Also be beware of people driving real fats around blind curves!! Regardless, the store itself is good.. clean and well stocked with people who will actually speak with you and help you find the stuff you need. Insider trip - they have a little salon in the back where you can get your threading done, waxing etc. There can be a long wait, though! They have a fairly good variety of goods for such a small space. The guy will actually answer your questions, and they had mangoes from India. Some of the prepackaged frozen foods were on sale. My go-to Indian food store in the area. Good prices on staples (pickles, daal, rice), and some sweets, too. I think they prefer you to pay in cash. Tip: It's on the back side of the shopping center that houses Nourish Food Market and the new Bikram Yoga. You can enter from Broad Street across from the Wells Fargo-ish, or you can enter from a Ellison Street in the back. This is a really nice place to go to for groceries that are good and cheap. The best part is he has homemade samosas there everyday. They sell for $0.99 and they are really good. The store isnt very big but he has a great selection of items. Also I am a guy, I don't require much or much variety to begin with. I was in the checkout line when the guy brought In samosas. I said ok fresh samosas, let me get six. The checkout guy packs samosas from the back. I said no these are not warm, get me fresh ones. I have seen with my own eyes that they were changing the expiration date labels. Secondly, many items are personally got from India by the owner and family which are not approved for sale in the USA (prices marked in indian rupees) and NOT export quality. Outdated stock items. The owner is pretty greedy. He doesn't let even a penny go! The salon at the back is either too busy or the staff missing. Very disappointed! I've been shopping at the store for a little over three years. They expanded their range of groceries over the years and the staff are very helpful and answer your questions. On a regional level, I shop for more Southern Indian veg groceries (Keralite) and I I find the basic essentials in plenty and many home brands. It's clean and reasonably priced. The location is a little tricky, if you are new. But I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you with directions. There's also a good selection of Southern movies and a decent new collection of Hindi DVDs. read more

I don't like this store. I bought a bag of Basmati Rice which showed a picture of long grained rice but when I came home I found out it was not Basmati but in fact had very short grains. I called the store and asked if I could return the rice and buy a more expensive variety but was told by the woman working there that her boss had said that since I opted for the rice that it was my problem and next time maybe I would make a wiser choice. The store has obviously sold me an inferior product. The product sold does not match the description and they will not take it back or even let me buy a better variety. "Indian Spices" is a perfect place to find everything you need for Indian cooking. I prefer coming here once a month to take all my provisions, than visiting local stores, who stock very limited stuff. Indian Spices has a very good inventory. The best part is the staff is courteous, very well mannered and always makes it a point to ask us at check-out, if we found everything. Based on our feedback on things they don't stock, they make sure they have it the next time we go. I have even got anti-septic after shave alum in their stock. Needless to say they stock all varieties of whole spices, ground spices, pulses, cereals, oils, vegetables, etc. I have also noted that the prices of certain items here are slightly lower, compared to those in other Indian stores. read more

Not a Very good choice because customers will be charged extra money without knowing them, this happens very frequently, for example: if a item has been labeled for 2.99 after discount, they will charge the actual MSRP until and unless you notice it while biling. small suggestion, I recommend you to check all the prices while biling. read more
