I decided to try a New New Grand !! location and I love how the bathrooms are cleaned but a bit Dorm like Small.. I love the fact for the Seafood that's open faced if you will it's covered tightly in plastic to keep fresh!! & any bugs or air hitting it to mess it up!! Which you don't see everywhere. The Prices are cheaper I found so many item for like 3-5$ with a great amount of food packaged in it.. maybe like 3-4 ppl speak English or can understand certain English here the other ones I've visited it's only One person. I found the Garlic Chili Sauce that nobody in regular grocery stores sell anymore so I was pressed to find a big jar!!... I found some Korean Beef short Ribs at a Great Price along with some Phó ingredients in which a Filipino lady helped me with THANK YOU ever so much if you should ever read this!!... I found some really huge Fresh!!! Wild Caught Rockfish!! on sale Ive NEVER seen wild caught anywhere else let alone rockfish on sale!! the seafood guy was so nice I had to turn back around to get it cut in half down the line for better frying!. Once the site of a run down Giant Food, the Grand Mart fits the locale and building much better;-) Loads of ethnic food and fresh fruit and veggies. Also a good spot for tasting food since they have introduced a Costco-esque sampling system where they make foods in the store. Great location at the intersection of Route 50 and 7, with a huge parking lot. read more

New Grand Mart is not the cleanest supermarket. Last time I was there, birds were flying around, which is disgusting. Sometimes the produce looks OK, sometimes it doesn't. I really just visit because it's the closest place where I can get culantro and Cubanelles. They have a good Goya section too, but no frozen gandules. I would do my primary shopping somewhere else, even a mainstream store, before I'd do it here. read more

For some reasons this market look like they are doing wholesales. Price is way cheaper than any other Asian Groceries around the area, so that is a plus. It's however a bit further down than if I were to go to Eden Center. Wide variety of Asian groceries and vegetables selection! Yes, I'll say it: Grand Mart, my butt. This is seriously the yuckiest, most run-down grocery store I've ever been to (and I've shopped at the Ballston Safeway before!). It reminds me of a post apocalyptic grocery store only replace the zombies with Asian moms looking for a deal and who will cut the back of your heels with a shopping cart. Yes it is cheap but I have found the produce selection to be sketchily bruised. The fish all have cloudy eyes which means that they are not very fresh at all. And the worst part? They do not have the Calbee Shrimp Chips with the pink polka dots (but they have all the other flavors). Everyone knows that is the best brand of shrimp chips ever. No contest. I much rather prefer going to Lotte, Grand Mart in Centreville, or Great Wall for a cleaner selection and more pleasant shopping experience. read more

It is insanely cold in this Grand Mart. So cold that the cashiers all wear Grand Mart-issued red parkas as they ring you up. In fact, I actually think that yesterday (a mild day in late December) it was warmer outside than it was inside Grand Mart. Temperatures aside, there are some choice finds to be had here. From my favorite Guatemalan refried black beans to packaged deep-fried puffy tofu and an amazing array of produce, I was impressed with the international flavor of this Falls Church store. Now I know where to get Central American style crema but if I had to choose, I'd take H Mart on Lee Highway over Grand Mart any day. read more

I was on shopping duty for getting a few last minute items that we couldn't get at H mart. Luckily enough for me, this place is right around the corner from my office so very convenient. Their produce was so so, but I will say I found a lot of the items I needed. Not only did they have yellow papaya, but they also had green papaya. This is called an international food market, so you are going to find a lot of Latin food as well as Asian food here. Additionally, you will get that traditional "aroma" of fish, but I get that at most places that display fish, so not a big deal for me. It was extremely cold outside, though I thought it was cool inside, I can't say that I was too cold (at least I was out of the wind). They didn't have any sake which was a little disappointing, but they had a few other Asian style wines (plum wine) - though I warn you it wasn't extensive. All in all, if I had to go get something after work, this is much more convenient, but I think I prefer H mart. read more

So what I like about this place is that it is *right* by US Highway 50 so it's easy-ish to get to. It also has a lot of parking. But its selection of items are a bit limited for my needs especially when I know the other market options nearby. Prices are okay. I'd go here as a second option to Good Fortune Supermarket in Eden Center since it's just right there, so close. But most likely Good Fortune would have everything I need. read more

So much for the refit.. Even after the "renovation", the former 1954 Giant Foods #32 still retains many of its antique fixtures and a number of architectural details authentic to the original store configuration. Unfortunately it still contains too many other less graceful features that escaped the renovation including water damaged walls and ceiling, a filthy HVAC system, and by the smell of it, rodents. Prices and selection were on par with H-Mart. The condition of the food appeared good, and given the location the turnover is probably fast enough to keep it fresh, but the atmosphere is *pungent* animal urine and heavy antiseptic cleanser. This is not the worst I've seen, but the sanitation of the place is really questionable. read more

Decent spot if you're looking for a variety of international food staples and spices, particularly for South American, Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, or Northeast Asian dishes. This definitely sets this store apart from other groceries like H Mart that cater to a more select food niche. However, with variety comes drawbacks - mostly that you may find yourself hitting up other specialty ethnic grocery stores if you're looking for items beyond the basics. (ie: Easy to find soy sauce here but I had to go elsewhere to find a particular szechuan peanut snack I was craving.) The biggest reason I dock this store in stars is that it's not particularly inviting. It's somewhat dark, the floors don't look clean, the fish section frequently has an exceptionally strong odor, and the produce is often bruised and spoils quickly. This used to be my go-to store for international foods until the new, larger supermarket opened in Eden Center. I think if New Grand Mart made some upgrades it could attract lots of new customers seeking a smattering of everything in one place. But as it stands, I've switched to shopping elsewhere and would probably only go here if I needed something and was passing by. read more

Went to buy some whole tilapia today. I asked for the #1 with the head and tail on and gutted. I picked three of them. The guy weighed them and told me it would be $25.40!!!! Where on earth do you buy three tilapia for $25???? They were $2.99lb. So you mean to tell me each tilapia cost $8 each? I know this market IS NOT selling tilapia at this price. Located conveniently at Seven Corners, this is my place to go to pick up Asian groceries when I don't want to go all the way to the H-mart or E-mart. They have most everything at a reasonable price, except good sushi fish. Their produce is decent, and the meat department is good. Their alcohol selection leaves something to be desired. No cafeteria. It's really cold in here. A nice stop when it's 100 degrees outside, but you don't want to spend more than 20 minutes in here! read more

OK, there isn't one supermarket in the world that meets all of my needs, but Grand Mart definitely fills a lot of them. The store offers an incredible selection of Asian goods that span across the continent. They have ingredients that are almost impossible to get anywhere else in the U.S. You can literally stock a Thai restaurant and a Korean BBQ house from Grand Mart. They also have excellent fresh seafood and affordable quality meats (not a lot of American cuts). Their produce section is amazing. The only competitor is Wegmans, which I wouldn't call a competitor, but more a complement. They also have a full selection of Latin-American items. If you are just looking typical American products this in not your place. It's also not the cleanest place I've been to. It's not upscale either. However, if you want super fresh and affordable seafood and produce coupled with any Asian or Latam product you want, this is a great one stop shopping choice. I like to come to Grand Mart for their CHEAP produce! I mean where else can you get 6 cloves of garlie for $1?! Or 3lb bag of onions for $1.49 or a pound of basil for $2.49....Italian girl VERY PLEASED! :) Not really sure when they restock produce because sometimes you have to pick through it. That's fine with me as I just buy what I need, looks fresh and you can't beat the prices! Much much cheaper than produce at Giant/Safeway/etc. and doesn't spoil as quickly as say Trader Joe's produce. Grand Mart prices their "american" food higher than else where so save the "regular" food shopping for elsewhere. Grand Mart does however, have great prices and selection of Asian/Hispanic goods! So stock up on rice, beans, spices, sauces (holla at siracha!), oils, etc. Meat is okay here if you need a cut that you wouldn't normally be able to find (i.e. pork belly, tripe, rabbit, duck, etc.) Seafood can be iffy but cheap and I've picked up some shrimp, mussels, tile fish a few times! I like to think of Grand Mart as my "dirty little secret" or my "guilty pleasure." Sure, the store can be hectic at times (don't shop at peak times then), Sales people aren't the friendliest (make friends elsewhere then), stock a bit out of place but I usually wind up buying a TON of stuff for so cheap and walk out gushing at how much I saved compared to buying what I bought at other supermarkets (if I could even find it there). This is probably the worse Asian grocery stores in the area. 90% of their produce looked like things you would toss out from Giant or Safeway. I always feel like I need to wash my hands twice after I shop there. I only go there when I am desperate. If I realize I don't have the ginger I needed to make dinner, I would go there. It's only because the ginger at Safeway is going to be completely dried up. And going to Eden, with its crazy parking lot, is going to cost me extra 15 minutes. I knew as soon as I stepped out of my car and smelled the "aroma" of slightly-rotten seafood I had hit the real deal (I've been to a fair number of Asian markets and they all seem to have this same, semi-unidentifiable smell). If you need some semi-obscure Latin or Asian ingredient, this is the place to get it. Don't expect the staff to help you find it, however (I suppose part of the adventure is trying to figure out on your own where and what oyster sauce is). Produce is a tad dicey (expect to dig), but the same stuff at Whole Foods would run two or three times the cost. The price of the fresh herbs alone is worth the swatting away the fruit flies--I bought a bunch of basil here for less than $1 that would have cost $4 at Shoppers. And if you want to be slightly culturally-insensitive yuppies like my friend and me, you can explore some of the dried goods and figure out what they are and what they're used for ("What is cactus honey powder? And why is it $4 for a small bag of it?") read more

This is an international market located in the hamlet of seven corners in falls church. I usually shop here very rarely when I need exotic fruits and vegetables and then they have the spa promotions if you spend $50. You need to ask the Korean owners at the main desk not the cashier for this. They check your receipt and issue a ticket. Grand mart should be combined with a trip to Eden center and eating the Vietnamese sandwiches and coffee on a cold day shopping. this is a small store and very crowded. they cater to equal opportunity shopping and people from all walks of life are here. Where else can you buy Mexican hot chocolate, thai chillies, dragonfruit and Asian pears along with gallon size jars of Korean kimchi? read more

I agree with some reviewers that this is probably one of the worst international/asian grocery markets. It's poorly managed and it's always freaking 10 degrees in there! Whether it's summer or winter, it's always freezing...which is why the employees can sometimes be seen wearing thick puffy uni bomber style coats. I too, have purchased some mochi and I've gotten some that had really bad freezer burn. It's darker in here and the seafood isn't as fresh as it should be. But, since it's the closest Asian grocery from my house, I am sometimes dragged here out of desperation. More dirty than I typically like supermarkets to, at least, appear. Grand Mart is cold, cramped and located immediately west of the intersection of several major roads. It has, nevertheless, a wide range of Latino and Asian foods. Pungent fish and seafood odors at first border on unbearable, but you acclimate to them surprisingly quickly. Besides, everything is so cheap that I'm willing to overlook the smell and pick up the dry goods,bottled sauces and pastes and other Asian ingredients that bring me here in the first place. I am more hesitant to embrace their produce selection, but their selection trumps Whole Foods, at fractions of the cost. A fun place to visit, even. read more

I like this store very much. Lots of varieties, and prices are good for everything. Only thing I do not like, is that often customers with the driver inside, stop and "park" and chatted with friends right in front of the doors, I have to be careful to back out and leave not to hit their car. Often they are just waiting until wife come out from shopping. They should have someone tell them not to 'park' their car their, even though the driver is sitting in their car, waiting for wife to finish shopping. IF they would move away if someone is trying to back out their car to get out of the parking space, I would thank them. They are young people, wife is also young. They are NOT handicapped. It's cheap and looks run down, but they try their best to keep it organized. I always see workers stocking items and trying to keep things neat, so gotta give them effort for that. The produce section is what I probably wouldn't trust. A lot of times, I've walked in and seen flies swarming around them so... yeah. Scratch that off your list. I mean for certain things like bagged garlic, onions, and green onions, you might be safe. However, if you're looking for cabbage, lettuce, or any fruits/veggies -- you're better off going somewhere else. The meat section is cheap, that's for sure. As for the quality of the meat -eh, not so sure, but I've bough chicken thighs and beef from there and I've never had any problems. Just check the sell by date and make sure to cook it soon after buying. The seafood selection is big, but as far as how fresh. I'm not sure. My mom buys catfish and her meat/fish from here too and we've never had any issues and it's been yummy. So, I guess just be selective. What draws me most to this place is it's close by and on my way home from work and they have a ton of imported goods from all over which are hard to find in other grocery stores. I'll definitely keep coming back for special items like that as they are on the inexpensive side and fit my cooking needs. They had tons of spices which I needed for my chicken tikka, curry, and butter chicken dishes. They had tons of different selections for fish sauces, buillon cubes, sushi seaweed wrapping papers, pho bowls/chopsticks/spoons, and even a middle eastern section with canned goods and canned stuffed grape leaves and falafel/couscous mixes. Grand Mart is awesome because not only can I find Asian products that I'm expecting (kimchee, for instance), but also the meat is top quality and very cheap. I've gone there to collect ingredients for a large meal for a family of four, and have been pleasantly surprised when I can get out of there for less than $20. Ground beef and ground pork are especially cheap and tasty, and I've been happy with the whole chickens I've bought there. Good selection of fresh vegetables. There is an entire aisle of sauces, including many different kinds of soy sauces that I hadn't seen in a while. Typical of Asian supermarkets in the DC metropolitan area, the store is owned and managed by Koreans and the cashiers and stock workers are Hispanic. Don't be freaked out if you have to repeat yourself to be understood ... everyone has been friendly when I've been there. There is lots and lots of parking at the store I go to in Seven Corners. If you can see the twin towers of BB&T, you're almost there. I could see doing all my shopping there. read more

At this point, I'm not sure if they are trying to cheat on customers with small changes or they really don't know how to count coins. I like their selections at this store, but I couldn't believe it! This is by far the worst asian grocery store in the area. The fish is not fresh and they keep trying to sell it until it can't sell anymore. Word of advice to the management...if the fish smells like rotten seafood in 120 degree weather...than it's time to throw it away and not sell it. . I tried to get Mochi there one day since my job is right in seven corners. They can't mess up on Mochi can they? Oh yes they did, I drove all the way back to my job, got to my desk waiting to sink my teeth into cool and creamy mochi and the mochi had all types on freezer burn and looked like it had melted and been refrozen again. I trekked it back to Grand Mart to exchange and opened up the boxes before I left to make sure the Mochi was edible and every single box that I opened was foo-gazy and nasty, all freezer burned and disgusting and the little Korean lady yelled at me for opening all the boxes because she was hoping to sell them to an unsuspecting person. I got my money back and will never go there again. Another message to the management...do not sell bad Mochi! Nonetheless, don't buy your Mochi from there because the same nasty boxes are still sitting on the shelves now. Go a few more miles and hit up H Mart or E Mart. read more

i miss ranch 99! the floor plan cleanly sectioned and items orderly stacked with rows and aisles of produce, sauces, meats (both recognizable and not). maybe my laziness is to blame for the fact that i didn't head further into asian territory to find the things that i wanted, but i simply didn't find this particular grand mart to my liking. sure, there were products that i found that could not be found in my neighborhood giant or whole foods, but the quality wasn't that great. when it comes to an asian market, cleanliness and order aren't necessarily the top of my priority list, but quality ingredients definitely are...and i found that a bit lacking here. i'll be sure to venture out further next time. read more

A great international grocery store that has THE best selection in the area for vegetables. You walk in and its no Publix or nice shiny Harris Teeter, but you'll be won over by the fresh veggies and great prices. If you cook a lot and use more veggies then the standard american broccoli and asparagus, you need to be shopping here. They also have a good selection of fruit. The meat section is noteworthy too, I seriously dont' know anywhere else you can buy del monico steaks for such a great price. There are also cuts (short ribs) that I have difficulty finding in other stores. Otherwise, the entire place has all the ethnic spices, etc that you could imagine needing to cook. (Not always the cheapest around, but definitely most convenient since they've got a variety of brands and you can probably find the one you're used to/looking for). HAH eat that you other grocery stores - not just one l'il baby aisle, but an entire store for us!!! Its definitely where I spend most of my money - but that may be slightly biased because I cook mainly asian foods. read more

Purchased food at the Falls Church location and when I got home noticed that some of it was out of date. When I tried the food it was bad. I called and asked for the manager. He was very rude and hung up on me before I could finish telling him the issue. I will avoid this store in the future. read more

I really like this grocery. I finally found the wide rice noodles I've been searching for! I also picked up some interesting looking cooking sauces to try out. The seafood section does smell quite strong, but I brave it to get the best deal on seaweed salad around. They sell like a pound of it for less than $5! There are great little asian and latin treats that are both funny and tasty. I don't find their produce much different than the shoppers down the street, except that its a bit more expensive. I'll stick to Grand Mart for my dry goods though. read more
