Came here due to a craving and this place didn't disappoint. The staff is very friendly and the vibe is just relaxed more than anything specific. I got the butter chicken and a side of garlic naan and everything came out tasting great. I like they give you an option for your spice level too so you can change it up depending on how you feel that day.

Nice people, good food and cool space to eat. The tandoori wings are sizzling, tender and well seasoned. The butter chicken and the lamb curry were both delicious and a nice balance for each other. Nice little stop in that's about a half mile from the airport - definitely walkable without heavy bags.

I showed up for lunch around 2pm and the dining room had a good amount of diners. I had heard about Indian Twist a few times, but it's taken me this long to finally eat here. I ordered lamb biryani (mild) and vegetable samosas. The potatoes in the samosas had a flavor that I can't place. It seemed like the samosa stuffing had mustard in it maybe? The flavor was kind of sour/tangy, something that I've not tasted before in any samosa that I've had. Flavor profile aside, the outside of the samosas were crisp and the potatoes were cooked well, soft and not mushy. The biriyani was pretty good. I couldn't identify the different fruits in this dish, but I didn't taste much sweetness to the savoriness of the rice and lamb. I used some of the mint chutney with the samosas and the biryani and that gave a spicy kick to each bite. Service was fairly quick. I had my own carafe of water that was infused with lemon and mint. When you get seated and order, the server brings a tamarind and a mint chutney to the table, as well as papadum. It's one of my favorite Indian snacks in all its crunchiness and peppery-ness. I would order more, but then I wouldn't have any room for my meal. Now that I know what their version of mild is, I'll definitely try medium spice level next time.

I wish this place was a little more consistent. We come here a few times a year when we crave Indian food. Sometimes it's excellent and sometimes the food is lacking flavor or the naan does not appear fresh or the chutney is so runny, like water However, had lunch here on Saturday and omg it was good. The vegetarian samosas were excellent. Chicken tikka masala was creamy and the naan super fresh. I wanted to hug the cook The service here is always great!

Tonight my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Indian Twist. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated Jimmy, the owner, taking the time to recommend the garlic naan and Baingan Bharta--a delicious smoky eggplant dish. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Indian Twist and Jimmy for generously donating gift cards to our school for teacher appreciation--it truly means a lot to our community. We're already looking forward to many more enjoyable meals here. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!

I really like this place. The food is really-really good, the ambiance is warm, comfortable and inviting, and the service is always exceptionally pleasant. My wife and I are semi-adventurous when it comes to food, as we pretty-much are always "up-for" and willing to try anything at least once (unless it's something really "out-there", like guacamole--or mixing barbecue sauce and ranch together to dip our dinosaur chicken fingers in) (*I'm kidding, we actually do often ask our servers, at any restaurant we visit, for recommendations on something that people don't often normally order that they personally like, or that might have cultural significance, or is just a wacky thing the chef or owner offers). Anyways, despite normally being a bit of an, "eat outside the box" type of couple who cherishes new experiences, for some not-quite-understood reason, whenever we go to Indian Twist, we almost always get the exact same order. In case you are wondering, the menu selections that we go with are: Chicken Tiki Masala, Saag Paneer, the Chana Masala, an order of the garlic nan, and two of their flavorful iced teas.). Avid reader and diner that you are, you probably recognize this is as the classic "Rookie to Indian food" order. Although we have tried (*and loved) quit a few of their other more exotic offerings, this is what we almost always go with when we go. Serving portions are generous and we always take home enough for a yummy lunch the next day. I have already described the staff here as pleasant, but I'm gonna mention how nice they are here again. We have had 4 or 5 different servers over the years, and this place has been universally consistent in regards to the fact that whomever helped us was always professional in demeanor, exceptionally warm, and generally gave off the vibe that they really wanted us to enjoy the experience. Furthermore, at the risk of making a stereotypical statement, I have found that the people in my life who I have known from India (or are of Indian decent) tend to be exceptionally good with people skills and exude a warmth and a caring charm. The folks at Indian Twist (not all of them are of Indian decent) are not doing anything to break this cliche'. Warm smiles and head-nods of acknowledgment and appreciation are given out freely by the cooks working feverishly over steaming pots and pans filled with aromatic delectables. I also noticed the, "head-nod-bow with finger-tips and palms together" (you know, the classic Hindu greeting) being used by staff to welcome patrons as they are escorted to their tables. I feel obliged to share that I am a person who has been described as a, "*George Clooney doppelgänger". So...I often wonder if that has some bearing on why we are always treated so well when we dine out. (*That's not true at all, but I made you look at my photo. Ha.). (Yes, you are right...I really need to grow up... but, let's get back to the main idea of this paragraph..). We do get treated well when we go out. I attribute this to always making an effort to establish a warm, mutually caring and friendly vibe with our servers. We also try to NOT be, "pain in the arses" by asking for special treatment, as restaurants can get super busy and hectic, so asking for special treatment, in my opinion, is one more headache that they shouldn't have to deal with . We also make it a point to tip well (even if the service slips a little bit--as this is often out of the control of the server). And this always makes my wife tell me that I am acting like one of those characters in a, "you can't always help becoming your parents" commercials, but I make an effort to acknowledge the efforts of those who are out-there toiling in the service industry. I don't want to make too big of a deal of it, so often I will quickly and quietly let a wait person know they did a bang up job. (I also like to let management know that they, "got themselves a good one there".) In my youth, I worked in numerous restaurant jobs and still vividly recall the faces of those who were exceptionally kind, as well as those who were thoughtless and showed behavior that was really unpleasant. *Excuse me while I step up on this soap box... I think we all need to have an empathy for those who cook, bring food to our tables, and clean up for us, after we are gone). I'm not virtue signaling here, just pointing out that when dining out, a little friendliness and understanding makes it better for all. I'll finish by sharing more about the ambiance. The color palate here is a pleasing blend of rich blues and greens. Ceramic pots and a flock of metal light fixtures add to decor. Music that is played here is from India (duh!) and Music videos from Mother Bharat can be watched as one dines, and they add to the slightly exotic energy. If you have not tried Indian food yet, or are just in the mood for something from the Far East, this is one of Tucson's better spots to give it a go.

My husband and I were looking for a good Indian restaurant. We just moved to Tucson about a year ago and we were hoping to find a really good Indian restaurant and we definitely found it! The servers here were very kind and attentive. The food came out in a timely manner, and it was so delicious! The spices were perfect in the lamb rice And my bread was to die for! It was actually better than the Indian restaurant back in our home state so we are so excited to make this a regular spot.

Came on a Sunday night with my dad, cousin, and friend. It was moderately busy but not out-the-door packed, and while service was friendly it was slower than expected (felt like about 8-10 minutes passed before our drink orders were taken). Unfortunately, even though my dad wanted to try Indian food as he's had it maybe once or twice, the friend had a low-spice tolerance so we ended up getting everything mild. :\ While the navrattan korma and butter chicken were flavorful, they needed a bit of a kick to elevate the flavors more. The garlic cauliflower was a bit like buffalo wing, breaded cauliflower, not much garlic flavor. I did enjoy everything with the fresh garlic naan and basmati rice, though. While the atmosphere isn't the "authentic" experience, the food was pretty good and service was friendly.

Tried Indian Twist recently and overall had a good experience! The food came out quickly, and the server was very kind and attentive. Food was excellent. I really enjoyed the garlic naan, chicken tandoori , chicken vindaloo, all were flavorful and well-prepared. The beans dish, while tasty, was a little too spicy for my personal preference, to the point where the heat overpowered the actual flavors. I actually really like spicy foods but the spice over shadowed the other flavors a bit in this dish The food came out quick. Some of it was pipping hot, as if it was quickly zapped in a microwave before service. I actually burned my mouth on the beans. But the taste of the food was excellent. I really liked the ambiance. The decor was cute. Had a nice vibe. One concern we had was with the chutney service. They bring it to the table in medium size, open jars with spoons already in them. When we asked for a small to-go container for the chutney, we were told they don't allow that and that the chutney is only available for purchase. The server mentioned that the chutney is "very expensive to make". That's totally understandable , but it left us wondering... if guests can't take it with them, and it's served in open containers, are those same jars being reused from table to table? Since the chutney is very expensive to make it is unlikely that they are tossing the full jars after each table's use. If so, that raises a potential food safety and cleanliness concern, especially if people are dipping food or used spoons into the jars. A suggestion, maybe offer smaller, single-serve portions of the chutney for each table, and allow guests to take a small portion home. Sauces of that nature should not be reused between guests. It would feel more sanitary and avoid any cross-contamination worries. Honestly while we enjoyed the food, we left with some significant concerns about the food handling. Overall, solid spot with tasty food and friendly service if you are craving some good Indian food in tucson. just a couple of tweaks could really elevate the experience.

Visited twice for lunch and always leave satisfied and with leftovers. The portion sizes are decent, and food is flavorful. - For starters, we've had the vegetable pakora and cheese fingers - a bit heavier on the breading for my preference but not too greasy. - The Aloo Gobi is a solid choice for vegetarian dishes and is on the lighter side. - For meat entrees, we enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo; if you're hesitant about lamb, it wasn't too game-y and was well-spiced with the gravy. - Recommend ordering the garlic naan to dip in the tasty tikka masala sauce.

We have been to Tucson several times and somehow love the Indian restaurants in here compared to Phoenix. This place was a new find and it's definitely our new favorite now. The staff is really humble and warm so you will always feel welcomed. Food tasted great! The roti was exceptionally soft and well cooked, paneer tikka masala was flavorful with soft paneer and my folks loved their chicken Rogan Josh too. Upon arrival we were served complimentary papad with chutneys which was nice too. I love the spa water carafe they serve at the table with mint and lemon in it. We also ordered chicken nan which was nice however forgot to take a picture of the same.

A couple of weeks after we had the Samosas we returned for the buffet lunch. I think we tested everything. (It's a small buffet.) You get a generous serving of Naan with the buffet, hot off the grill. The day we went there was Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, breaded potato slices, Chicken meatballs, carrot pudding (YUM) and milk fruit among others. The food was quite spicy, but not hot spicy. My only quibble was that some items were quite salty for my taste, but many of us older folks have blood pressure issues, so we aren't used to a lot of salt on our food. Overall, it was delightful. The manager served us and was very gracious about answering our questions. Prices are quite reasonable. The buffet changes daily, according to the manager (owner?). We'll be going back again. read more

Went in to Indian Twist on a Friday for lunch. We started with some garlic basil naan cooked in the tandoori oven which was awesome being hot out of the oven. The buffet was hard to resist with a good variety of vegetable and meat dishes. There was a good crowd in the restaurant which reflects there quality food at reasonable prices. There was also a good variety of more popular craft beer with Bario blonde, Dragoon IPA and Four Peaks Raj IPA. The service was attentive and the owner was very present and helped what appeared to be a new server in a very kind manner that was impressive. This was the best Indian Food in Tucson. read more

I have been a customer here since they opened and gave them a great review. Today my 11 year old asked if we could go there to the lunch buffet for their tandoori chicken. Today he devoured 2 drumsticks and 4 small pieces of tandoori and sprite and nothing else. When the bill came that said the were charging the adult rate because "he ate a lot" . ARE YOU SERIOUS?? My family loved this restaurant but we will not be back !!! read more

I had excellent Lamb chops there and so did my party! Delicious flavor! Chef Jimmy came out and greeted my party of three. He was charming and explained to us exactly how individual dishes were prepared. I have been to India twice and found this food a delight. I even thought the rice was outstanding and usually I never even eat rice. The flavors of the kulfi were so fresh and bright. Good papadam and ok plain naan. A sophisticated devotee of Indian cuisine, and an East & West Coast transplant, I'm astonished and very grateful to find this gem of an Indian restaurant in Tucson. It compares with the very best I've had on either coast and in between. The saag paneer, medium + spicy, comes steaming hot, in a very generous and nourishing portion, preceded by heady fragrance of Indian spices and promised delight to the appetite. You go away feeling fulfilled and well fed. Garlic naan delicious. Taj Mahal beer a choice accompaniment. read more

Super delicious !! I have mixed feelings about some Indian food/restaurants but this place left me beyond satisfied !! Our party of four started off with two appetizers: the Vegetable Pakora and the Vegetable Samosa. Both yummy ! The pakora was a great size for our party to split, and were delicious especially with the table sauces they supply. The Samosa's even though only two, were quite large and good to split between the four of us. Was a great start to the meal. Main meal: we got 4 different dishes: Mango Chicken, Chicken Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, which I listed in order or favorites. All tasty, the heats variances were on point. I recommend the medium for a good but not overwhelming heat, though I was sweating a bit throughout the meal. Ha! Also per other reviews the Garlic Naan I highly recommend! The service was great! She said she was less than a week in and couldn't answer all of our questions but she didn't hesitate to ask the chef to get the answers for us. Ending off on some dessert, had to try something different: Gulab Jamon, which no one in the party cared for, tasted a bit like nail polish remover and the texture of the dessert dumplings were hard to get past, but regardless it was a fun culture experience. The Mango Kulfi was tasty though! Half the group enjoyed that! Over all was a great experience, a bit pricey though for the quantity. Quality is there but I would enjoy either cheaper meals for the given portion sizes or much larger meal sizes for what they have it priced at. Go check this amazing space and food out!! read more

I've eaten from a few Indian restaurants and this is the best I've had so far! The atmosphere is clean, modern and welcoming. We went for my dad's birthday. The owner came over and introduced himself. All of the staff was friendly and he brought us a complimentary dessert. If you've never had Indian food I'd recommend this place because they're very helpful in explaining and choosing the best dish for your taste. I'll definitely be going back again. read more

I'm a huge fan of Indian food and used to order it weekly when living in NYC. Am very picky about my Indian food and have tried all the places in Tucson, all of which have been okay (or not-so-okay). Most Indian restaurants in Tucson remind of the dive Indian places in NY--cheap, fast and good in a pinch. The food here, however, was just fantastic and definitely a worthwhile and memorable treat. I had the chicken tikka and the saag paneer, and both were absolutely delicious. A perfect amount of heat, and generous portions with a lot of paneer and chicken. The cocktails were also tasty. The rice and naan were also excellent. The samosas were cooked to perfection and became a quick favorite of my daughter's. I also tried my friends' biryani and veggie curry--both were savory and delicious. I was truly blown away--the food is on par with some of the best upscale Indian places I used to enjoy in NYC. I could taste the care that goes into the food. The last Indian restaurant that was in this space was disappointing, but this place really turned things around for me. My friends and I are looking forward to going back soon. It seems to me that some of the negative reviews are from people expecting a quick cheap meal--lots of low quality/high volume food. This place is not that--the food and drinks are tasteful and thoughtfully prepared. Think Reforma or North but for Indian food. The service was also quick and friendly, and the decor is modern and sleek. But I'm going back again for the food. read more

i order take out from indian twist somewhat frequently and it is always so incredible! the flavors are amazing and they always accommodate my spice level requests. the food is always packaged nicely and stays HOT on my long drive home. my fav things to order are the butter chicken, garlic naan, and paneer tiki masala. i love this restaurant and i am looking forward to eating it again! read more

My husband and I have had dinner twice in the last 3 weeks! The food is So delicious, including the mango yogurt drink. Indian Twist is comparable to Indian restaurants in Washington, DC. The grilled marinated lamb chops are So fine. The chicken tikki masalla can be prepared according to how spicy you prefer. The food arrives at the table piping hot! The owner, the cook, the waitresses are so welcoming! They will answer any questions you have! This restaurant is a keeper. read more

Today my sister brought me here for my birthday! It was both our first time coming here. We were immediately greeted and seated by the very friendly owner. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is very pleasant. It is very clean, modern looking, and BEAUTIFULLY decorated We ordered veggie samosas, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, aloo gobi, and garlic naan. The server was very nice and attentive. All the food was amazing and we were seriously impressed by the noticeable freshness and quality of spices/ingredients, as well as the wonderfully unique flavor of everything! Hands down, one of the most delicious Indian places I have ever been too! Everyone there always seems to be smiles and good attitudes. The food is amazing. I had butter chicken (their specialty which are apparently cooked in goodness and magic) and they are DELISH. I also had chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Garlic naan is my fav!! my absolute favorite dish is Mango chicken; sweet and spicy :) Gulab Jamon is to die for. lunch buffet is delicious!! Something needs to be said about the staff here too who are wonderful and always in a great spirit. Very attentive and made sure we all felt very special. The couple who own this place are here and they take the time to literally speak to each and every customer about their experience. No wonder, they are the best Indian restaurant in town. Great lunch buffet. The flavor of all preparations was authentic North Indian. Saag paneer was one of the best I've had at a restaurant. We had a great time here tonight. Had a group of 13. Jimmy accommodated us easily at a big table. We ordered about everything on the menu and shared it all around. Everything was delicious. Wonderful full flavored Indian Food. I have visited India and this is every bit as good as the best Indian Restuarants in India or better than most Indian Resturants I have frequented in the USA. They Indian Twist is located SW corner of Camp Lowell and Swan Across from Basha's. Highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Rogan Josh. Of course, you must add Naan for dipping. I go with optional Medium spicy with the Chicken Tikka Masala and a between mild and medium with the Lamb Rogan Josh and the plain Naan since the food gives it plenty of flavor. Love it! Since moving to Tucson in 2010, I have tried 3 or 4 Indian restraints in the area. The only place worth repeat business was a food truck that a friend from India recommended. Now, the owners of the food truck have opened a restaurant, India Twist. I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about India Twist. The lamb curry on the buffet, the meat samosas, the chick pea curry, everything I ate there was pure bliss. When we got the lunch buffet, they brought fresh, hot naan to out table rather than having it on the buffet, a nice touch I have not seen before at an Indian buffet. read more

Our first time there it was happy out and they had specials which was a good taste of Cuban food. We should have shared the taste of Havana dish because it was so big for one person. But we took our leftovers home and had it for dinner the next night. Our Saturday visit was just as good. With mojitos to accentuate the experience!

Jimmy, I DID order 5 full naans. And if you would have read the review correctly, the 1 naan was cut into 4 pieces, not 5. As stated I repeated to your phone person TWICE, "You understand I would would like five whole pieces of naan, WHOLE naans, correct?" And the response was, "yes." I, too, am eating DEVINE Chicken Tikka Masala and Pea Pulao - that I made! my pea pulao is not filled with tiny chopped tomatoes, onions, green somethings - it is well done with sautèed onion, garlic, morter and pestle spices, browned rice, with peas. As a business man, perhaps you should reach out to find out WHAT happened rather than blaming your customer. I wouldn't recommend a business on your recent response, alone - despite the horrible experience we had at your business. Attacking and honest review is not helpful to you, Sir. it's easy to get good reviews when your customers do not understand what quality Eastern Indian cuisine tastes like. I recently visited Indian Twist restaurant and was absolutely blown away by the delicious Indian food. The flavors were bold and authentic, and our waiter was friendly and attentive, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. My favorite dish was the chicken tikka masala, which was rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice. The garlic naan bread was also a standout, perfectly soft and warm with a crispy crust. The owner is extremely rude to comment negatively to the people who leave reviews. How about you say nothing if you don't agree with the review or better yet apologize for that patrons experience. Sorry but I don't praise restaurants for providing decent food and service. Yelp is not a place for patrons to try to get you more business! It's to give an honest review of the food and experience for future customers!! Every restaurant should have good food and service. Absolutely loved our experience at Indian Twist! We ordered the chicken tikka masala and coconut chicken--both were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The chicken samosas were amazing, crispy and delicious. They also have a great selection of vegetarian dishes, which is a big plus. The mango drink was refreshing and the perfect complement to the meal. On top of that, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming. The environment is clean and uplifting. The owners and service staff were welcoming, attentitive, and professional. But, most important, the food was excellent. I had the lunch buffet, and stayed on the vegetarian side of the table. Pakoras, daal, saag paneer, garlic naan, and mango pudding. It was all very good; 2 plates worth good. Plus dessert. I've always felt Indian food can be hit or miss. But it's safe to say Indian Twist hit it out of the park. I've been twice now. The first was delish. Then went again to be sure. Delish again... As an Indian girl, I loved this place. The food was authentic north Indian cuisine and delicious. The prices were reasonable and the portions were huge. I ordered take-out so I can't speak to customer service, but the woman who greeted me and handled the transaction was wonderful. Would recommend. read more

Very nice staff. Chai was hot and fresh. Garlic naan was all it should be: crisp and fluffy and buttery, melt-in-your-mouth. Make sure you leave some room for their fruit custard, it's the best I've ever tasted. read more
