I recently went here for lunch with a colleague - we both love middle eastern food and have been trying to find the best place in the area. We agreed that Dar Alyemen has the best middle eastern food we've found so far! The inside space is average - not good or bad. They have a prayer room for Muslim customers which I think is great. They do have a very nice patio with several types tables - I think one type was a rocking chair table. It would be nice on a good day but it was storming when we went. The service was fine - there was just one guy who was working in the dining area and there was only one other table occupied when we were there. The wait for the food wasn't very long. We shared the a half chicken mandi, beef shish kabob, and baba ghanoush with pita. The chicken mandi was delicious. The chicken was so flavorful and tender - fell off the bone. It was on a bed of yellow rice with chunky stewed vegetables. It was perfectly seasoned. We also shared the beef shish kabob that was grilled to perfection - the perfect amount of seasoning and char and was so juicy! Lastly, we shared the baba ghanoush with the biggest pita I've ever eaten. The pita was so yummy - they brought it to us fresh out of the oven! The baba was so creamy and smoky - it had the perfect balance of flavors. They had some desserts but we were too full to try them. Yesterday (08/21/26) was the second time I ate at this place, and the third time my family did. Food: 10/10 - the flavor and quality of the food remains consistently incredible! We ordered the mixed grilled platter with rice, the haneeth lamb with rice and the Zubaidi fish with the bread. All of the dishes were amazing with unique flavors. We started with a soup and salad which truly hit the spot. They also served sahawa (? Spelling) with the food, which complimented all the dishes and bread perfectly! Service: the service is thoughtful and friendly! Ambience: was clean and minimal. Would I recommend and return? Without a doubt!!! Run, don't walk, to check out this place if you haven't already! I dined in with a college friend during a weeknight in early May 2026. It was an impromptu dinner but I'm glad that I was able to finally visit this Yemen-based restaurant. My friend and I were the only ones in the big restaurant upon arrival. I noticed about 2 different people during the night come in to pick up their to-go order. AMBIANCE -- Cultural music plays in the background. I love all the colourful photos on the wall and the unique light fixtures. FOOD -- I ordered the Mixed Grill ($24.99) - 1 Kafta (beef), 1 Tawook (chicken), and 1 Kabob (lamb) which was served over white rice with 1 tomato, 1 green pepper, and 1 big onion. I don't like onions so I set that aside. The Mixed Grill was a good meal for dinner. It comes in a large plate so it definitely was too much food for me. I gladly took a to-go box home with my leftovers. All the meats were cooked well and tasted good. The lamb was my favourite. The rice served appeared to be a rice pilaf. The complimentary lamb soup was served lukewarm (almost cold) and I didn't like the taste. It's an acquired taste for sure. My friend and I commented that maybe if the lamb soup was warmer that it would have tasted better. I also ordered the Maloog bread as a side dish which is similar to Indian naan bread. The Maloog bread would have tasted better with some butter on it. I asked for butter but the server said she didn't have any. SERVICE -- Complimentary lamb soup was offered and complimentary tea is provided which is nice. The tea is up at the front counter so you serve yourself the tea. The service was good but could be better. The young woman from Afghanistan greeted us at the table with a toothpick in her mouth which was kind of funny but still slightly unprofessional. She laughed and apologized but I said it was fine. I asked for a glass or cup of water and they don't offer that service which was odd. I had to buy a bottled water for $1. Buying the water didn't bother me as it was just $1 but I'm used to most restaurants just offering water on the house. The young hostesses did check on my table a few times which was good. I can see myself ordering food from Dar Alyemen again but I'll get takeout instead of dining in. The neighbourhood where this restaurant is located is a bit secluded. Kind and friendly service upon arrival. A cup of super flavorful broth was immediately served along w our menus. Never having Yemeni food, we were cautious going for what looked like a staple-Mandi chicken. It was so tender and flavorful. I really loved the tomato sauce potatoes that were part of the dish. The hummus we ordered was smooth and came with maloog (bread). It was freshly baked and outrageously delicious. I look forward to going back. Recommend highly. read more

Recommended to this place by a friend. There was complimentary tea and lamb soup--both quite flavorful. Got the yogurt drink, lamb, side salad, and the malooog bread. The yogurt drink wasn't for me as I'm not used to yogurt that's salty and not sweet at all. I liked everything else. The lamb was so tender and fell off the bone. There was quite a bit of rice that came with it, that we ended up taking it back. A small sized side salad was bigger than I had expected, and it was a crunchy refreshing side to the fatty lamb. Loved how fluffy and big the maloog bread was--definitely worth the price, and perhaps my favorite. Service was decent. Parking available as it has its own parking lot. We got takeout from here. We ordered chicken mandi, lamb mandi and lamb haneeth. The food was very fragrant and delicious. However, the rice seemed a bit dry. My partner thought the lamb was a bit gamey. He did like the chicken mandi very much. Maybe due to the fact we got takeouts, the vegetables were a bit disappointing in each dish. The vegetables didn't taste as fresh. There were very little of them. We also got a bread as well. I don't think it is fair for me to judge it cause it was a takeout bread. The bread was good but could be less chewy. Still, the flavors were all point. read more

Our food group Gourmet Gastronauts picked this restaurant to try Yemeni food. It was amazing. The moment we walked in the staff was extremely friendly. They brought us soup and salads when we sat down. Most of us got the chicken mandi but I got the lamb mandi and I highly recommend the lamb! Both was good but the lamb was so juicy. The hummus was a great portion for being small too! The owner even came out to introduce himself. I can't remember the names of the desserts we got but both were super yummy as I never had dessert with cheese! Only one downfall was I did do take out to take the lamb haneeth home to my partner as he could not make the meeting and he was disappointed it did not come with salad and soup. I am guessing you only get that if you order in? Either or, we will come back as there is more to try! I've had Yemeni food all over the U.S. and even in Yemen itself , and I can honestly say Dar Al Yaman is top tier. The chicken and lamb were unreal, super tender, packed with flavor, and perfectly cooked. You can tell they really know what they're doing in that kitchen. During our last visit with the family to Cleveland, I was looking forward to try a Yemeni resturant so we stopped by Dar Al Yemen resturant during a late afternoon weekend and that was the best decision made. We were greeted well with the nice waitress followed be the owner that suggest some very nice good variety of dishes and oh my good that was the most delicious meal we ate in a long time. The meat of the Mashawi dish was succulent. The Haneth dish was out of this world. The taste was so authentic and the portions were huge. I am looking forward to return back to Cleveland just to eat there again, no doubt. read more

We had the buffet and it was 10 out of 10!!! The food wasn't over-spiced and everything on the menu was recognizable (from chicken to lamb to some of the best baked fish I've literally ever had!). The staff was extremely friendly and the chef personally came out at the end of our meal and offered us some classic Yemen desserts. Bone broth was delicious. Fresh bread, hummus with chunks of meat on top, Fahsa (shredded beef), grilled chicken was super crispy, lamb and chicken Mandi with hot salsa on the side. Everything was so good and then for dessert we received courtesy of the chef beehive looking dessert freshly baked dough with cheese inside and honey on top..sooo good read more
