Think Chipotle, but for Indian food - SO good and SO affordable. You can pick your base and your chicken and then add whatever toppings you want. All for $10.99! Was visiting TCNJ for a college visit and after the tour, stopped in college town for a late lunch. Came across Indigrill and figured we'd give it a shot. Coming from an area with a lot ot top notch restaurants, will admit I'm rather picky when it comes to Indian Food. We opted to dine in and ordered at the main counter. We ordered a side of Garlic Nan, the Vegetarian Chicken Kathi Roll (Two homemade whole wheat roti with grilled soy 'meat' and fillings) and the Chicken Tikka Kabob (Boneless cubes of Chicken marinated in exotic spices and grilled in traditional Tandoor Oven.) The kabobs werw accomapamied with rice, salad, and raita. In most Indian restaurants that I have been to you can dial up or down the heat. When i ordered , I tried to turn up the heat and was told the request could not accommodated. Likewise, while I enjoy the heat, while my daughter loves Indian food, she preferrers mild. With mo spice level available, it was luck of the draw. The veggie kathi role came our 1st, followed by the Chicken Tikka kabab followed by the Nan servered minutes into our meal. Typically, the Nan is served as an appatizer. While my meal was okay, the Kathi role was a bit to spicy for my daughter. If the food was prepared fresh, there is no reason why the food could not be altered when it came to Spice. The "salad" was a few cucumbers spread around the meal and some raw red onion. While technically a salad, it was not a salad as I imagined. While the nan was in fact tasty, it came out after the main course. Overall I did enjoy my meal but can not put this place on same playing field that I have given 4 or 5 stars to. I was impressed with the overall portion size in comparison to the price. I may return if in the area but would not bring someone who may not like the heat. A three star rating makes this place average at best. If I was not so into Indian food, maybe it would be a 4 star, however not being able to adjust the spice level makes me think meals are not prepared fresh in the kitchen. read more

I keep Yelpin' even though I often feel unqualified to review a place after only one visit, and in this case my Yelper Imposter Syndrome is strong. But I'll forge ahead, anyway, in an attempt to overcome my confidence demons. :) First impressions are important! To be clear, this is another DoorDash review; normally the Dash experience adversely affects the meal, even if it's only because I have to deal with the bulky, wasteful styrofoam or a less crispy item. But Asian food in general lends itself to delivery, with its already moist rice and super saucy main event, so I figured this was a safe bet. And, in this case, my DoorDasher was a superstar, grabbing my food the second it was ready and booking down Olden Avenue into Hamilton in record time. Indigrill gets efficiency points too, for sure. I had a strong hankering for Indian the night of my order, and the hankering became a disappointed longing afterward, even after eating my butter chicken, rice, and naan across two days. The establishment gets a star for a lovely and fragrant long grain rice: the perfume hit my nose and made me smile, hopefully. The naan, cut in half, was large - probably 12 inches in diameter, studded with bits of garlic and other herbs. Promising. But the main course was a letdown, unfortunately. Serviceable. Warm. Not unpleasant. But it can be summed up as such: a few chunks of tough chicken swimming in a bland tomato sauce. While I'm far from a connoisseur, I've had a lot of Indian food - it's one of my favorite cuisines. We are so fortunate to have so many great Indian establishments in the area. I am partial to the dishes without too much heat as long as they are well-seasoned with depth of flavor. I'm not exactly sure what Indigrill's butter chicken was missing but it was definitely flat. Maybe some saffron, or more garlic, or even just a bit more salt and butter would have helped? It's hard to say, but it was quick lackluster. Aforementioned rice was just fine; same with the naan. Looked and smelled better than the taste in both cases, but I wasn't disappointed with either. I ordered from Indigrill because it has a high rating, but I would not go back again on purpose, unless I was right there and starving. So happyyyy that we found an amazing spot to get my Indian food fix. Hubby and I went in and every bite was more delicious than the first. I ordered a super basic indibowl with Chicken tikka masala, chana masala, rice and a side of garlic naan. This this was GINORMOUS! For $12 I got 2.5 meals out of this bowl of delciousness. It also came with all the veggie and sauce toppings I wanted. Hubby ordered a Korma Masala entree, which to me was the absolute winner. The sauce was spiced to perfection (the tikka masala sauce was too mild for me) and also a HUGE portion. We fought over who got to dip their naan into the last bit of sauce. As for the appetizer we ate THE NEXT DAY because we were so full from our main meals, the Samosa Chaat was something I had never had, and basically it reminded me of like Indian nachos. It was two samosas opened up with lots of yogurt sauce and crunchy toppings. It was absolutely amazing and tasted just as good the next day. I said the picture does not tell me what's on the wrap sir that's why I I'm asking you. If I had more options and I wasn't on my lunch break Kumar's demeanor was enough for me to buy food else where. After I told him his service sucked and I received better service when they first opened as opposed to now he didn't really care. I am African American. Maybe it was because I came in around 3 in the afternoon, but my experience at Indigrill in Ewing, NJ, was pretty lousy. Let me count the ways. 1. Although nearly empty of customers, there was trash on some tables, the floor and the shelves near the soda machine and trash receptacle. 2. The Bollywood dance music videos played extra loud and on a nonstop loop from the TV high on the dining room wall. 3. The food counterman was pleasant, but the choices he had to work with were fairly limited, with only chicken, lamb and beef and three sauces available. 4. When I sat at one of their high table stools and began to eat from the biodegradable bowl and plastic spork, I found the meats room temperature at best, the chicken stringy and the lamb low quality with fat and hard spit outs. 5. The sauces were likewise cool, although they did have the right taste. 6. Ultimately, there was more brown rice in the bottom of the bowl than all the other ingredients combined. 7. What? No naan?! It just wasn't very good and not worth the calories ingested, nor the more than $10 price with the sugary drinks. I am not a fan of Chipotle Mexican Grill for its lack of authenticity and the comparison to the multitude of excellent Latin American restaurant with high quality offerings that abound in Central Jersey. The same is true for assembly line Indian cuisine. With all the wonderful South Asian houses within a 10 mile radius of here, why would anyone choose this poor copy of that bountiful and varied colorfully spiced deeply curried food? The answer to that eternal question? No one with a working pallette and taste buds would, unless they were on a student budget that allows them to be abused by this low end excuse for fast food. The price was not reflected in the food I got. I paid around $18 for a very small portion. The service was so slow and many people who came in after me left before I did even when they ordered more food than I did. I got there at 1:15 and didn't leave until 2:00 and I had a mobile order. Enjoying their food via delivery has been especially pleasing as by the photos It does not look like a very creative dining environment. Which contradicts their food. When you think of South Asian food in Mercer County, Ewing really isn't the first place that comes to mind. But you'd be making a huge mistake by overlooking Indigrill. It's quickly become one of my favorite restaurants, period, in the area. Indigrill does a fantastic job combining the best of a traditional Indian restaurant and fast-casual dining. You can either build your own bowl (Chipotle-style), or order a regular dish--their menu has all of the staples of an Indian restaurant from appetizers (samosas, pani puri) to entrees (korma, curry, etc.). Another major plus that sets Indigrill apart from most other food places in the area is that they serve vegan "chicken". I've had in the bowl and in the kathi rolls and not only does it taste almost exactly like the real thing, it is the same price the regular chicken. I go for the meatless option as much as possible and the vegan chicken and the variety of dishes definitely keeps me coming back to Indigrill. read more

I generally do not post bad reviews unless it hits certain bar. Wife wanted Indian food and IndiGrill is the closest spot. After much debate we ordered chicken bowls and chilli paneer. Food was ready as spelled out in order email. Curbside delivery was perfect and we received all our order in a well packed paper bag with utensils. Two full stats for that aspect. The food, in chicken bowl, is decently proportioned to fill a very hungry stomach. That's another one star. The taste of the food just not up to any mark though. Chicken was very firm from inside. Chilli Paneer tastes like cardboard pieces fried and dipped in tomato sauce with some spice thrown around. I really hope they do not serve this food to anyone and this is just a bad day for them; perhaps the head chef took the day off. Tried this place tonight near TCNJ. I ordered the chicken vindaloo, chicken tikka masala medium heat. It did not disappoint. The chicken was tender, the sauce was great for both dishes. I did enjoy the tikka masala more and it was spicier. The vindaloo did come with soft roasted potatoes. The naan was standard, soft and doughy, great for dipping. The samosas were wow! You can get two giant meals and sides (samosas, naan) for about $35. The portions are huge and have only gotten bigger post-pandemic. The sauces for the samosas are so good - a sweet, plum-ish sauce and a green sauce with a light kick. Garlic naan is worth spending a little more on for the huge portion and crispy garlic on top. First things first, newer place so I'm considering this when doing my review. Went during lunch time and there was quite a line. Many people didn't know exactly what they wanted so it took even more time. There were two staff present serving which wasn't enough even for a small crowd. Many different selections available. I'm not too familiar with Indian food so of course my review is solely based on flavor and just overall if the food was good. I chose a quinoa bowl with chicken and tikka masala topped with kuchumba salad. It was very tasty, but the bowl provided felt a bit empty. Imho I believe they could've added more of the base (quinoa) for it to be more filling. They did an excellent job with explaining what food and sauce was what an measurement of spiciness (all with patience and a smile). Nonetheless, two important suggestions to keep people coming particularly since it will become a high trafficked area during weekday lunch hour - expand food serving area and add additional staff. Let me first start by saying "about time"! The area (Trenton / princeton corridor) has been lacking a good new add for quite some time. The bowl concept works very well for Indian; and the flavor was great without a typical greasy factor. Also had the masala dosa and equally impressed with the taste. I'm hoping these guys stick around because the food was great and we will definitely be back. The atmosphere was very nice, it was big, bright and very open, a lot of seating options. The food itself was amazing, there were plenty of vegetarian and vegan options which I was happy with. I decided to go with the veggie chicken, curry masala sauce I believe, and brown rice in a bowl along with the chick peas. The portion was great, it was enough to save for dinner (I went at lunch) and the veggie chicken left me thinking I ate actual chicken. The quick summary of my discontent is that the lamb (grilled, in lamb bowl with sauce) was tasty but *very* chewy & gristle ridden. After half the plate I just couldnt work so hard at it anymore. 2 hours later my stomach is still trying to break that stuff up. Will not be eating that again. Sag Paneer was also tasty, but was the fully-whipped version so that the texture is like baby food. Not my favorite. And did nothing to balance the wild sheep meat. The fact that my samosas & side of nan bread were left out of the order made for a less than delightful meal. When I have a hankering for Indian food, I want the good stuff. This seemed like an Indian version of Chipotle except more expensive & not as good. Money wasted, cooking up some ramen would have satisfied just as much. read more

I ended up taking half of it home to eat for dinner. Ewing definitely needed a good Indian food place especially near the college campus where most of your options are similar and bland.
