The food was overall good. However, there were two complaints. First, the pho broth was great, but the noodles were packaged and not fresh. Second, the summer roll sauce was perfect, but the shrimp summer roll was heavy on the noodles, so I couldn't taste the shrimp. The server was a character and the service was good, but he never checked back after the food arrived. This traditional Vietnamese dive serves up authentic Vietnamese cuisine at reasonable prices. The pho is excellent and so are the spring and summer rolls. The atmosphere is interesting. There are pictures cut from magazines and hand written papers stuck all over the wall and the tv plays videos of people cooking street food in Vietnam. The place is messy and disorganized and the service is very good but bizarre in a way I can't explain. Divey is the best way to explain the place. We dined in on a Friday night and the place was empty. It was only us. I didn't even notice any calls coming in or food going out for deliveries. I hope they last because the food is good. I would highly recommend ordering takeout or delivery though. read more

If you have been to Pho Kim in Trenton, then you will love Pho Vietnam. It is run by the most fabulously dressed gentleman who always has a smile on his face and the most delicious cucumber water ready for every table. We came here because we saw there giant sign and were excited to be in a nicer part of town with parking, unlike Pho Kim which is in a pretty sketchy area. The food was great, the service kind and the decor funky. I had an amazing Pho with brisket. My hubby and son love the vermicelli noodle bowls with shrimp and grilled pork. We love their egg rolls, so we got an extra order to share. I hope they are very successful, as the menu has so much variety and the place is pretty large. Definitely come check them out! read more

Pho Vietnam on Olden Avenue, Ewing, NJ, is located in the space of a former venerable Italian steak house. The black & white ceramic times are still on the floor and the old Formica topped tables are also there. The menu seems complete and varied until you ask for something more complicated than pho, Banh mi or appetizers, when I found out that many of the sautéed, vermicelli and com dishes aren't available (likely due to the economic realities of a non-Asian area not demanding more than the basics). I ordered Shrimp Summer Rolls, Roast Pork and Sautéed Beef Banh Mi (hoagies). The two Summer Rolls were quite good - fresh, crunchy bite and chewy skin, with a small cup of Hoisin Sauce with a pinch of ground peanuts. I liked the Roast Pork Banh Mi in a fresh torpedo, full of daikon, carrot slivers, cucumber and cilantro. It arrived wrapped in deli paper and rubber band. A squirt of table rocket Hoisin and Sriracha Spicy Hot Sauce, and I was ready to take a big bite. It all came together well in my mouth, although it seemed to be light in the meat department, a fact confirmed when I opened the other half sandwich and noted there were only pieces of roast pork rather than the expected long strips of past experience. At $9 per sammy, I found that disappointing. Too, the price for a bowl of pho started at $13. I bypassed ordering any on this first visit for fear that it was priced for perfection without ability to sample. Service was friendly and responsive. While a decent showing for Ewing, it could have been much more satisfying if not grading on a curve. 3.5 Stars for a less than pho-filling experience. read more

The rudest interaction I've ever had with staff. Got mocked and yelled at trying to order food. It was honestly comical.

I ordered a Pho with only/just beansprout due to an allergy. The Pho was delivered with the allergic ingredients included. I explained the problem and asked for a NEW bowl. They took the bowl back and pulled out most of the items, not a new bowl and returned the contaminated bowl. It is lucky I realized before a reaction occurred. They did not seem to understand the potential consequences. I did not want a replacement, but argued with me about it. The original pho included only a few pieces of grizzled "filet". Very disappointing food and potentially dangerous food preparation. They appear to have no concept of contamination. What other safety measures are they lacking? read more

I order the traditional sandwich and it was pretty spicy - which 1) isn't traditional, as far as I know, 2) isn't even mentioned on the menu or I wouldn't even have ordered it. I couldn't eat it. Heck, one of the people there seemed surprised when I said that it was spicy... Then my kid ordered grilled chicken, and it was some weird pink-tainted chicken thigh thing that looked like what you get from cheap Asian buffets. Needless to say, I won't go back. read more

Dined here recently as I'm a big fan of Vietnamese cuisine. I had the pho. It was very good but was sparse on the herbs. No mint. Also had the summer roll. The wrap was excessively thick and it was bland. I thought the peanut sauce would save it, but it was not provided. Instead, I was given something reminiscent of hoisin sauce. Summer rolls are a staple and these need to be on point. Also had the pork vermicelli. That was good. The interior is unchanged relative to the look of the prior establishment (I think it was called Pete's Steakhouse). It was clean but it had zero elements of a Vietnamese vibe. I felt like I was having Pho in Pete's Steakhouse. Not a great feeling. Service was fine. Not prompt but good enough. This place is new and it seems to me they are working out the kinks of a new business. I get it. I'll circle back in a few months and try again. We stopped in only because we were driving by after have several misses using Yelp for a dinner suggestion late last Friday afternoon (one had closed in the last 30 days and two others had zero people in the restaurant). My criteria for a restaurant is that it must be a small place that would not normally attract people from the outside looks, it has a lot of people in it, and the tables are squeaky clean. This place met those criteria when we arrived. The Pho was the best that I have had since moving to New Jersey and working in New York (I have looked around for it). After living in California (land of awesome Pho)... that is a pretty strong endorsement for this place. The food was great (for both my wife and I) and the wait staff was as attentive as I would want them to be. This place is infested with ants and dirty. I was just trying to eat my pho, and I felt crawling ON me. I check my leg, and there's an ant crawling on me. I thought that it was just a fluke, but then 2 minutes later, there's another ant crawling on me. I check under the table and there's a piece of food with an entire heap of ants eating whatever had dropped by the last person eating there. I attempted to just move tables, hoping that might help, but when I'm putting my bean sprouts into my pho, THERES AN ANT ON MY BEAN SPROUTS. They gave me a new plate of bean sprouts but at that point my appetite is ruined. When I was going to pay my meal, I expected it to be comped because I hardly ate any because of the bugs crawling on me and my food. I paid full price, even left a $2 tip because that's just the type of person that I am, and the person that I told about the ants looked at me smugly and asked "How was your meal" and I obviously replied disgusting because of bugs crawling on me. Do not eat here, one day its ants and the next, it'll be roaches. Horrible experience and I will be calling the health department to get this place a check as soon as possible. read more
