A colleague and I took the Metro B line to the Taste Food Hall at FIGat7th, an open-air shopping mall in the Financial District. The food court has several different spots, and I decided to go for Indian food. My meal was ready in a few minutes, which made the experience very convenient. The indoor space is air-conditioned with many tables. Since the food hall near office buildings and 7th Street/Metro Center station, it wouldn't be a hassle to travel here. I got the curry plate combo with lamb masala and salmon curry (total of $18.66). It also came with two pieces of naan, white rice, and a fountain drink. While the portion size didn't look big at first sight, I had leftovers due to how filling everything was. The lamb masala and salmon curry were both flavorful, but I liked the former the most. The salmon curry tasted a little too tangy for me. Also, I felt that I've had better basmati rice served elsewhere since the serving I had tasted a little bland. Overall, the food here is adequate. However, I can't say I enjoyed my meal as much in contrast to food from similar Indian restaurants I've tried. read more

Favorite quick takeout Indian food! Highly recommend the chicken tikka masala and chicken curry. Both are super creamy and always come out hot and fresh. Best deal seems to be the platter and if you wana be healthy definitely substitute the rice for tandoori vegetables it's so worth the extra $1. The flavoring on the veggies is somehow super amazing and they give you a huge portion. Be sure to also grab a mint sauce and hot sauce on the way out!! I was pretty excited to try this spot as I'm always looking for good/quick Indian food. While this place was fast, I can't say it was anything special. The chicken tikka masala was a bit runny and lacking that strong flavor i love so much. The chicken curry was equally long in definitive flavors. I felt like you could have swapped that out for anything and i would not have noticed the difference. I stopped by Indus before going to a Lakers game (despite being 2019 and in Los Angeles, the Staples Center has close to zero vegan options). The samosa ($2) is the only vegan appetizer and tastes pretty good. Get this as a snack while you're wandering around downtown LA or shopping in the stores in the Fig at 7th plaza. The chana masala ($7.75) is the only vegan main course you can get, while all the rest contain dairy. It tasted fine---not too oily or heavy---but the portion size was laughably small. It was basically a scoop of chana and 20 scoops of brown rice. Indus doesn't offer much, but it's more than other places in this food court (at least when it comes to vegan food), so that's why it gets 3 stars. read more

Service is good. Chicken is a bit dry for both the curry and tandoori chicken (white meat). The dark meat is better. One positive is that it is a rare Indian restaurant that actually provides grilled vegetables as the default option on a lunch menu item, as opposed to the standard heaping of rice. To be honest, I'm surprised I haven't been here before given that it is LITERALLY right next to Oleego, where I go to every week. I suppose me trying to avoid eating carbs regularly has something to do with that. But at some point, the craving for Indian food had to hit. Well, it finally did and it was time to make the call. Ended up getting the platter (two curries and rice) with chicken tikka masala and chicken curry with brown rice (at least they have brown rice) and some garlic naan. Think I was more of a fan of the chicken tikka masala than the chicken curry, but that's more of a preference thing than anything as both were quite tasty. For the price, I certainly can't complain. I had to get my usual - Chicken Tikka Masala. You know, just so I could compare how it is with others I've tried. I would like to say that their prices are fairly decent and that is why I decided to order food from here instead of the Korean BBQ place next door (trying to budget... ha). What I Ordered: Bowl - $6.45 (choice of rice & 1 curry) Order came out quick and was great portion wise. Cashier was friendly and told me I could sample anything off their menu - so don't be afraid to ask! There were combo plates, wraps, and sides to choose from as well. Sadly, naan does not come with any of the combos (its about $0.95). Looking forward to trying more items off their menu in the future! Side note: To-go bags are flat at the bottom, which is good if you're holding it by the handles - food won't turn to the side. I had no cell phone service (I wanted to check-in on Yelp). Got Chicken Tikka Masala for an amazing price of $9.00 and some naan bread for pretty darn cheap as well. Sadly they were out of mango laasi, but not a huge deal as I have had my fair share of mango laasi in the past. Of course being fast food, I did not expect it to be good in the least, but I was proven wrong. It was not the best Indian food, but it was darn good, and to top it off I will mention again, it's fast food! I was thorughly impressed with the meal they put out in a matter of minute. The only take away was the naan was not too garlicky, but not bad enough to remove a star rating. Would I stop by again, yes! Would I suggest this to someone else, heck yes! They have this orange spicy sauce on the side in little cups... that is SUPER sipcy!! I LOVE this; rarely is it possible to find super spicy sauce provided on the side to take as much as you want. And often, "spicy" is more like mild. It transforms the entire chicken curry bowl on a whole new level. The naan or garlic naan, however, (at $1 each for a very small, sad piece) leaves much to be desired. It's a little too burnt and crispy, and portion is tiny. My friend got the chicken tikka masala with white basmati rice and I opted for the lentil curry (4 kinds of lentils!) with brown rice which is available as an alternative to white for no extra charge. They have two types of naan (plain or Garlic) for $1 extra or you can opt for adding a naan plus fountain drink for $2.25. Not a sit down place necessarily type food but still very good. The location in inside the food court at Fig and 7th. Very convenient and most of the time plenty of seating to pick from. The prices are also fair and they have many options to what you can order from. The staff here is also very nice and helpful. Try avoiding the 12 noon rush hours during the weekday but anytime after that its not too bad of a wait. Again, they seem to make most of their for fresh so it taste a bit sometimes. If in the area I would definitely recommend, but remember, it is a fast-food type Indian place so don't expect the best tasting food. Indian for the Non-Indian As a "noob" of Indian cuisine I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food, I can only speak to what it tastes like on my palate. I basically stick to the Chicken Masala or the Chicken Curry. Both wonderful dishes on their own and in combination of the garlic naan that they have. There are pros and cons to the chicken curry though. The chicken is cooked thru a little better so the chicken is more tender and moist but if you are going into a client meeting in the afternoon, don't eat it for lunch. Hot and Cool Be aware, the spicy sauce, drum roll please......is freakin' spicy. Go figure right? A spicy sauce that is finally spicy. A little too spicy I may say, but it may be awesome for more manly men than me. Might have been too good. While they tell me the big fave most choose as their curry is the Tiki Masala, well, that's just more chicken, too, so why not mix it up? This fast food restaurant is located in the Fig and 7th food court. You can choose to make a bowl or a plate, depending on how many entrees you want. Since it is an Indian restaurant, it is vegetarian friendly! The best time to go is at dinner time, since there aren't any crazy crowds in comparison to the business lunch time. I really enjoyed the Saag paneer because they gave SO much of the cheese which was amazing. The Chicken Tikka Masala was also very good,and it wasn't that creamy which means that they didn't add too much cream filler that fills you up. The naan is also hot and fresh. The rice was mediocre, and doesn't have much flavor... for some reason, it didn't absorb the sauce well. Make sure to pick up the spicy green sauce so you can lather your food. This Indian Delicatessen is wonderful, they have a simple menu, but everything we ordered was amazing. The chicken tikka masala, a Samosa, and some garlic naan. We waited for less that 5 minutes, and the prices are very reasonable. They have really good fruit water with cups available right by the register. There are two free sauces in tiny cups offered to the left of the water, one is mint and the other is spicy. Now, when I see that something has a spice warning on it I usually disregard, but I made a fatal error here, just one cup with my curry had me literally sweating, but it waaaas sooo good. The awesome thing is you can substitute the white rice with brown rice for free (if you want to sub the rice for veggies, must be for the platter combo for $1)). My goal is to yelp every eatery at Fig@7th. It helps that I work about a block away. This is my 3rd review. Indus is an Indian joint right next to Oleego in the food court area. I have been here a number of times, and today I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Combo, which consists of a boneless chicken breast with a curry, I got Chicken Tikka Masala, white rice, and a salad. I topped that off with an Indian favorite, root beer. Alton Brown warned about boneless chicken breasts, saying that they tend to be try, however, this Tandoori chicken breast was wonderfully moist and flavorful. I usually just get a curry here, so it was interesting to try something different. I would definitely have this again, even though it breaks my cardinal rule of downtown luncheries, i.e. $10 and under. However, it is a lot of food, and very delicious. Indus did adhere to my other cardinal downtown eatery rule, which is "in and out in 30 minutes or less." I got there early, so my food was out with lighting speed, but even during busy periods they are able to keep the line moving at a satisfying clip. By the way, they do prepare fresh naan here--plain or garlic--I didn't order it, because I usually can't finish it. . .and with the size of the portion of my combo, I definitely would not have finished it. I am not too familiar with Indian curries so the menu was a bit intimidating because I didn't know the differences between the curries listed. After pondering for a few minutes, I decided to get the Chicken Tikki Masala bowl with a mango lassi. I waited about 5 minutes for my order to come out. Service was quick & friendly. After I got my order, I grabbed a container of hot sauce and one of mint and got seated. I immediately fell in love with the curry after the first bite -- it was delicious! I could taste the different spices and it taste even better after I mixed in some hot sauce and mint sauce! The mango lassi was also amazing! I have never tasted anything like it -- it was sweet, creamy, and refreshing! I really enjoyed my meal here and hope to come back soon to try other items.
