The seating area is small, and the second floor was especially uncomfortable because the AC appeared to be turned off despite it being July. We went here in a food tour and it really took me out of my comfort zone. I typically don't like Indian food and I have had a lot of it. This was one of the only items I have ever liked. An absolutely delightful experience! I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews, but we left with both our hearts and stomachs completely satisfied. They were perfectly seasoned, spiced and not dry at all. A couple of pieces were slightly overdone, but we didn't have time to think about it because they were so enjoyable overall. Everyone at the table loved them. And a special mention for the cilantro whipped cream, oh my what an unexpected concept! The flavor was a solid 10/10. The texture took a moment to get used to, but once I did, I couldn't stop eating it. Onion bhajjis - We ended up ordering these twice, which says it all! My son couldn't stop eating them. Generous portions of chicken and it was tender. I could've happily kept dipping my naan in the sauce all night long. Naan were alright! Slightly flat and overdone, but great with the sauce. Chai - we loved it so much we ended up having 3 cups each! Perfectly spiced and just the right amount of sweetness. Poutine - A bit underwhelming overall, but the masala potatoes were delicious. Honestly, I might have enjoyed it more without the gravy and chicken. Seekh kebabs - kebabs were tasty, but the sauce didn't quite work for me, it was salty, thick and didn't complement the already rich kebabs. We came in with a bag of leftover food and after ordering we had a few bites of what we had left. What was disappointing was how the waiter handled the situation. He made us feel embarrassed as if we had done something horrible. First meal in LA...could have been five stars, but there were so many own goals that spoiled the experience. We had just come from a fantastic visit at The Broad and were in great spirits when we arrived hungry and ready to dig in. We were the first reservation of the night, and there were also a couple other tables coming in around the same time, and how many folks were on the floor? ONE. Yes, a single human being doing everything: greeting, seating, menus, ordering, bar, etc. Insane! The poor guy was frantic, and while he did a great job considering the situation, what terrible awful management. Are you seriously that cheap and willing to sacrifice customer satisfaction?? The one-person staff meant that you couldn't order a cocktail until 6:00 pm, "when the bar arrives" (!!), so there went that revenue. When the bar guy showed up early for his shift 30 minutes later, we were told that we *could* get our drink, but were then told 15 minutes after that, once he had set up his station, that they didn't have the ingredients to make the drinks! What a JOKE. At that point, 45 minutes into the meal, we had almost all our dishes on the table and no drinks. Unreal. It's a real shame about the aforementioned fouls because the food here is pretty incredible. We loved almost every dish that we ordered. The samosas (chicken tikka and potato) were crispy and flavorful. The pickled veggies were a nice acidic palate cleanser, and the cucumber raita went well with everything in that regard as well. It's ridiculous that rice isn't served with the mains you order (hate this money grab), but we're glad that we had some--as well as the rosemary naan--for the lamb sausage dish, which we would have ended up licking with our fingers it was so good. The only dish that fell flat was the chana masala...way too watery. For dessert, we shared the cutie ice cream sandwiches that weren't exactly smart (all the ice cream smooshed out of the side of the hard cookies) but tasted great. So, we're landing on three stars because of the ridiculous staffing decisions here that tell the customer: we could care less about your experience. It's a real shame. Badmaash is a small spot, but they make it work. We snagged a reservation for 8:30 PM on a Saturday night with just 30 minutes' notice, and even though we showed up about 10 minutes late looking for parking, they still held our table. Huge props to the staff, service was incredible from start to finish. The food? Easily one of the best meals I've had in LA. Samosas were super crispy and flavorful. The butter chicken is a must go for it over the traditional one if you have to pick. Fried chicken was crazy good. Boneless, seasoned perfectly, almost like the best chicken tenders you've ever had but with a ton of spice and character. Chicken poutine was another highlight, the gravy, cheese curds, fries, and chicken all melted together into one of those dishes you keep picking at even after you're full. read more

YUMMY! The GHOST CHILI LAMB VINDALOO was AMAZING! Very saucy and spiced to perfection. Not as spicy as I was preparing for but did have a nice little burn after, very doable though.
