I love the food, yet the one star is for the customer service that I received today (1/7/2018) from the light-skinned young lady with the tattoos on her right arm, she was wearing glasses, had short hair. I approached the counter and she was just curt (sp?) with me. I asked how everything is going, she answered fine, can I take your order?" I gave my order, and she ask, "Anything else?" I was too annoyed to order anything else and said, "No thank you." She tells me the price and sticks her hand out, I give her my card, and she hands me back my receipt with nary a word. She brought me my order, I said "Thank you." and she just walked away. Its unusually as my times there before were always pleasant, so today was pretty surprising. read more

It's Friday... just ordered a tandoori chicken plate and garlic naan bread for lunch. Chicken was so dry like eating paper. Try to save the food, so back to the cashier asked them if they can give some curry sauce. Do not expect free, additional sauce cost 50 cents. When they passed me the sauce, I can't imagine the portion was so little.... see attached picture , no lies .. I just keep my eyes rolling and full of question marks in my head?? The actual food was okay--chicken was dry and the food was bland without adding in their spicy sauce, but it had definitely been sitting there a while. The staff here was also really, really rude and unhelpful, even with their (small) menu. read more

Chicken and rice are super dry Thank goodness they give you enough curry sauce or I would be very angry I guess when you get there after the lunch rush things aren't as fresh which is a real disappointment. Food is mediocre. I tend to stick with the saag paneer. What turns me off is they overcharge for mediocre food AND don't completely spread the curry entree width wise or to the top of the bowl( I had 1/3 the entire bowl empty space). Sorry but either up the quality in food or give more bang for your buck. Stop short changing the customers that are willing to still eat mediocre quality indian food buffet entrees. read more

As an Indian curry, I will give it a 3.5 stars. What I ordered was a platter and a plain naan. For the platter, I chose Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer. The former is marinated chicken breast in their most popular sauce and the latter is spinach cooked with herbs, spices & indian cheese. Their other flavours of curry are: Chicken Curry (chicken simmered in a savory tomato onion curry), Peeli Daal (a flavorful stew cooked with four varieties of lentils), and Channa Masala (spiced chickpeas, onions & tomatoes). Chicken Tikka Masala has a orange appearance. it's a more water kind of curry. The chicken meat is chewy, not too soft and neither hard. Its curry tastes great with rice. Saah Paneer looks really greeny. Unlike Tikka Masala, it has a more viscous texture. It's a bit oily on its own but okay with rice. Naan is wonderful. Can be eaten plain or dipping in sauce/curry. One should try it out when coming to this store! Overall, I will give a 3.5 for this store. read more

My fiancé and I were trying to find a good place to snag dinner before heading over to the Taper to catch the phenomenal opening night of "Ma' Rainey" without having to settle for Burger King drive thru (we've done it. Not bad, just we were hopeful for more.) After getting the run around from Clifton's website and voicemail system, we each started searching at Yelp for alternative options for din dins. I stumbled upon Indus after searching on restaurants in downtown LA, and started filtering on price (no thank you to the $58+ entre) and those venues open after 5 pm Sunday night. So many Mexican places, but we already have a plethora where we live. Wanted something else. Oh! Indian! Grabbed my attention. Did a quick perusal of the menu, determined our selections and realized we could phone in our orders from the curb, send in my fiancé to pick up, and avoid having to pay $10 for parking for a $16.00 meal. Can't beat that, can you? Located sweetly in the basement area food court, aka TASTE, in Fig@7 next to the Ernst & Young Plaza tower, we were able to street park in the FREE (!!!) passenger loading zone while Jordan went in to grab the food. Went for the Chicken Tikki Masal (close to my fave Butter Chicken) bowl over Basmati Brown Rice while Jordan opted for the classic Chicken Curry. Generous portions! We got them TO GO and grabbed a table in the Arts Center plaza and ate what was a delicious and terrific din dins. Bookmarked it, and will definitely be back here again! Sweet added plus, the bowl was biodegradable cardboard. But not the lid. Hope they will move over to the boxes with inward foldable lids... (Hint, hint) read more

I work in downtown LA, so this place is super convenient for me to walk to. Indus has great takeout Indian food. This was my second time coming here and this time i ordered the bowl of Saag Paneer with white rice. It's Indian cheese simmered in spinach cream sauce. It was so yummy. I also got the veggie samosa which is pretty delicious. Next time I come, I'll probably order the platter (which includes two curries) since I loved it. I'm not too much of a fan for the red and green sauce, as the red is too hot for me and i dont like mint. Overall, a great choice if you're ever visiting 7th and fig and want a bite to eat! read more

I love Indian food but I rarely get to eat it! I'm so glad there's a fast food Indian joint in DTLA! It's fast and perfect for lunch breaks. I love that it's located in a food court-- not everyone I eat with is down for Indian food so it's nice that there's so many options for them. There's also plentiful seating. I always get the chicken tikki masala bowl! The sauces they provide are BOMB! The red one is spicy but soooo addicting! And of course, garlic naan is a must! This is very "safe" Indian food. If you're inexperienced with Indian cuisine, and have mustered the courage to step a toe in the water, Indus is a fantastic starting point. They offer traditional dishes, with very little spice, which always taste very freshly made. The menu is simple; choose one or two main courses and white or brown rice to accompany it. The naan was the only disappointment; it lacked the flavor, texture, and freshness of the real thing. Lunch is quite reasonable from $7 - $9. It's not my Indian restaurant of choice, but it serves a purpose. I'm thrilled to see co-workers converted to Indian food by way of Indus' simple approach to the cuisine. read more

And you must get the brown basmati rice! -- This is located in the back corner of the taste plaza (downstairs). The menu is pretty similar to Saffron except that they have tandoori chicken with veggies. It's basically sauceless chicken with veggies, really yummy. They also have the usual chicken tikka masala, daal (lentils), chicken curry, etc. and it's all yummylicious! They also hve brown basmati rice at this location which is off the chains crazy good. I've eaten at Indus a couple times now and the results have been consistent. It's neither amazing or horrible. The best part of Indus lies in their sauces. The tamarind goes great with the samosas and anything else in need with a sweet kick. The spicy sauce is indeed as advertised and should be used moderately. The mint sauce is great and I have to admit that I take the extra ones home to eat with my own meals. They're just that good. If you're near 7th & fig and want something a little bit different. Give Indus a try for its convenience and extraordinary sauces. The curry based entrees are best. Stay away from the grilled chicken as it can be dry at times. read more

This nice little find is located in the new downstairs foodcourt area called "Taste" just adjacent to Target. We arrived at 11:40 and there was already a good line forming- rivaling the Korean BBQ place right next to it. While in line I was handed a take away menu card with descriptions and pricing. Good thing too- forgot what was in a Saag Paneer. (blush) Anyway, just about everything is priced under $10 which is quite refreshing for Downtown L.A. It's a small menu of bowls, platters and wraps and they have a nice iced Chai tea too. The smells coming fromt he kitchen were quite nice- not greasy smelling or heavy overpowering curry aroma. As I got closer to the cashier, I could even smell the light scent of basmati. Ahh nice. Counter service was quick and cheerfully given and when I asked why there would be no Naan until Friday, (there was a little sign on the register) I was told very apologetically that they had just opened today and that the bread ovens weren't working yet. Bummer- that's a key item but I suppose I could live without extra carbs anyway. (This is the only reason I took off 1 star) I got my food and took a small cup of an orange spicy sauce (forgot the name) that was labeled VERY HOT. So I put a little tamarind and mint sauce in too just in case it was really true crazy hot. Later discovered the VERY hot wasn't. Yes it had some good heat but was really enjoyable. I dug into my Saag Paneer and was very happy with my choice. Nice sized portion with a good amount of paneer - cut into nice small chunks and not overly done sauce. The rice was fluffy and tasty too. A good choice for today's cool crispy weather. Will definitely come back and try the Peeli Daal and Channa Masala and maybe a Samosa too. read more

A new favorite! I love this food! I can't say that I've ever really eaten Indian food, but I'll be a regular at Indus! Even my super picky eater of a husband says the Tandoori Chicken rivals his favorite, Chicken Kabob Kitchen. He doesn't go for the saucy stuff, so although I liked the Chicken Tiki Masala, he wouldn't try it. I loved the flavor and the chicken was super tender. BUT..... drum roll please...... a flavor I will be craving from now on is the ...... PEELI DAAL!!! Wow!!! This looks like a mushy mess, but the flavors and textures of this mixed lentil dish, are just amazing. I had it with the masala and salad on my first visit, but the second visit when I got the Tandoori chicken for my DH, I got it over brown rice. It was rather heavy on the rice and light on the Daal, but I gobbled it up like a fiend! It also seems very healthy. He loved the Tandoori and when I ordered the naan, they loaded it right fresh into these huge tandoori ovens. Everything was super fresh!! And the people were very friendly, not to mention you can watch the oven action through the giant windows! The veggies that come with the Tandoori Chicken are AMAZING!! Loaded with flavor, we kept going, "what is that!?!" And the veggies were not just a bunch of peppers and onions; it was loaded with zucchini and fresh broccoli!! I love that no matter how much I eat, cook, shop, visit friends, I'm still discovering new food, flavors and cuisines. OH! And the "chutneys", one minty and one spicy, also pack a flavor punch that takes the food to a whole different level. My Gold's gym visits now offer a flavorful end! Incredibly fast service, which probably means it's made en masse. But the taste isn't sacrificed too terribly in that regard. I ordered chana masala and appreciated the option to switch to brown rice without an up charge. I would suggest picking up one of the sauces for the samosas and mixing it in with the chana masala (which is generally dryer than other options). I tend to steer towards a low carb diet and they allow you to substitute rice with their awesome tandoori vegetables in your curry platter. Their naan is baked fresh when you order it and they have this AMAZING spicy sauce to add to any dish! The workers are ALWAYS nice and so helpful. Great option to get your Indian fix in the Bite foodcourt at the bottom of the 7th & Fig Plaza. They even have legitimately hot sauces. One mint chutney and a spicier red sauce, to which you can help yourself. Need something to quell the burn? Try the $1 side of mint raita. Word on the street is that the naan is delicious, though I haven't tried it myself. The samosas were quite good. Moist on the inside and crispy on the outside, with nice seasoning. The chicken tikka combo hits the spot. You get a huge piece of white meat. It's a bit pricey for what is essentially take out, but the food is quality and the portions are generous. read more

I'm not really a big fan of indian cuisine because my stomach has a hard time digesting the heavy sauces but I was craving some good old carbs today so I decided to try the garlic naan with a chicken tandoori salad. And it was yummy! For about $1 you get two pieces of naan. They were served warm and had just the right amount of garlic. Very satisfying. The chicken tandoori salad ($9) was HEFTY! I was surprised at how heavy the bag was. When I opened it, the box had thick pieces of chicken and a large container of cucumber raita along with salad dressing. Wasn't expecting the raita but I loved it! I dipped everything in it. Even the naan! The chicken was tender and kind of juicy. It wasn't too flavorful, but I'm not sure what I was expecting. I had so many dipping sauces to make everything taste better that I didn't mind. The whole meal was very filling. Even saved half of it for dinner later at night. Free containers of mint chutney and red sauce by the register. The mint chutney adds a nice tangy flavor to your food. The red sauce is really hot. Be careful! Definitely want to come back and try the curries and tandoori vegetables. Really nice place to get indian fast food. =) read more

Don't believe those people who say this place is exactly like Saffron. It's not. It's SO MUCH WORSE. I ordered a wrap and naan. The wrap contained that gross end bit of the romaine head that you throw away (unless you're this place, apparently). It's bitter and hard and not meant to be inside a wrap I paid good money for. It's also half the size of your fist, so don't tell me the guy didn't notice he was putting it in my wrap. The naan was so charred it lost all its chewiness and just cracked and crumbled in my hand. The Diet Coke I ordered was delicious, probably because they had no hand in making it. With all the competition they have in FigAt7th, you'd think they'd try a little harder. read more
