tofu curry and tofu tikka masala curry plate
    Jennifer H.

service was fast, and the woman at the counter was very kind ! the price for the amount of food is also pretty reasonable, especially for LA. i got a tofu curry and a tofu tikka masala and was pretty disappointed by both. the curry sauces were both pretty watery (kind of just watery with some red oil floating), and the tikka masala was much sweeter than expected. probably would choose something else the next time i'm in the area.

Favorite quick takeout Indian food! Highly recommend the chicken tikka masala and chicken curry. Both are super creamy and always come out hot and fresh. Best deal seems to be the platter and if you wana be healthy definitely substitute the rice for tandoori vegetables it's so worth the extra $1. The flavoring on the veggies is somehow super amazing and they give you a huge portion. Be sure to also grab a mint sauce and hot sauce on the way out!! The hot is so addicting but definitely avoid touching your eyes at all after or you might be crying for a while lol

I was pretty excited to try this spot as I'm always looking for good/quick Indian food. While this place was fast, I can't say it was anything special. The chicken tikka masala was a bit runny and lacking that strong flavor i love so much. The chicken curry was equally long in definitive flavors. I felt like you could have swapped that out for anything and i would not have noticed the difference. The garlic naan was better than expected, but understandably not on par with what you'd expect at a sit down restaurant. Overall i just felt like there was nothing special about this place and could not recommend it to someone looking for Indian food in downtown. Stay Cheerful ;)

It was a first time to try this place. During my lunch time, I ordered the chicken curry bowl! I do recommend it!

Chana masala ($7.75). The only vegan main dish on the menu. Not heavy or oily, but it's 90% rice and 10% chana masala.

I stopped by Indus before going to a Lakers game (despite being 2019 and in Los Angeles, the Staples Center has close to zero vegan options). The samosa ($2) is the only vegan appetizer and tastes pretty good. Get this as a snack while you're wandering around downtown LA or shopping in the stores in the Fig at 7th plaza. The chana masala ($7.75) is the only vegan main course you can get, while all the rest contain dairy. It tasted fine---not too oily or heavy---but the portion size was laughably small. It was basically a scoop of chana and 20 scoops of brown rice. Indus doesn't offer much, but it's more than other places in this food court (at least when it comes to vegan food), so that's why it gets 3 stars.

Service is good. Chicken is a bit dry for both the curry and tandoori chicken (white meat). The dark meat is better. One positive is that it is a rare Indian restaurant that actually provides grilled vegetables as the default option on a lunch menu item, as opposed to the standard heaping of rice. Food is good but not something I would crave. The hot sauce they provide on the table is actually very hot and absolutely delicious! Recommend to order with the Ritual app, beat the lunchtime crowd.

Chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, brown rice

To be honest, I'm surprised I haven't been here before given that it is LITERALLY right next to Oleego, where I go to every week. I suppose me trying to avoid eating carbs regularly has something to do with that. But at some point, the craving for Indian food had to hit. Well, it finally did and it was time to make the call. Ended up getting the platter (two curries and rice) with chicken tikka masala and chicken curry with brown rice (at least they have brown rice) and some garlic naan. Think I was more of a fan of the chicken tikka masala than the chicken curry, but that's more of a preference thing than anything as both were quite tasty. For the price, I certainly can't complain. Given my emphasis on diet, doubt I'll make Indus part of regular rotation. But I'll definitely come back again if I'm in a mood for some Indian food.

I had to get my usual - Chicken Tikka Masala. You know, just so I could compare how it is with others I've tried. I would like to say that their prices are fairly decent and that is why I decided to order food from here instead of the Korean BBQ place next door (trying to budget... ha). What I Ordered: Bowl - $6.45 (choice of rice & 1 curry) Order came out quick and was great portion wise. Cashier was friendly and told me I could sample anything off their menu - so don't be afraid to ask! There were combo plates, wraps, and sides to choose from as well. Sadly, naan does not come with any of the combos (its about $0.95). Looking forward to trying more items off their menu in the future! Side note: To-go bags are flat at the bottom, which is good if you're holding it by the handles - food won't turn to the side. I had no cell phone service (I wanted to check-in on Yelp). I think its spotty in the TASTE food court which I hope can be fixed down the road.

Had about two hours to burn before a Lakers game, and luckily stumbled upon the awesome shopping center that has Indus by Saffron. After checking some reviews of the food court, Indus by Saffron had quite a few good reviews compared to many of the other fast food restaurants. Decided to give it a try since I have never had fast food Indian before, so why not try it this one time? Got Chicken Tikka Masala for an amazing price of $9.00 and some naan bread for pretty darn cheap as well. Sadly they were out of mango laasi, but not a huge deal as I have had my fair share of mango laasi in the past. Of course being fast food, I did not expect it to be good in the least, but I was proven wrong. It was not the best Indian food, but it was darn good, and to top it off I will mention again, it's fast food! I was thorughly impressed with the meal they put out in a matter of minute. The only take away was the naan was not too garlicky, but not bad enough to remove a star rating. Would I stop by again, yes! Would I suggest this to someone else, heck yes! Quick service with pretty stellar food is hard to come by and I think Indus by Saffron nailed it. Sadly, they did not take my request of packing up shop and moving closer to me for some more stellar meals.

Chicken tikka masala and saag paneer with brown rice: good!

Considering the price, I'd say this place has a good bang for your buck value. I ordered the platter, which is a pretty sizable meal for just $10. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer with brown rice. The portion for the brown rice was a little underwhelming but overall the food was pretty good. Good for a quick meal on a budget!

Platter: chicken tikka masala and saag paneer

This was my go-to Indian place when I was still going to USC. I remembered my Indian friend took me here for the first time and fell in love with the chicken tikka masala. Yes, this is definitely not traditional Indian style restaurant. It is indeed located inside the food court of Figat7th. But, compared to other Indian places I've been, this is still one of my favs. I always ordered the platter, sometimes with rice, other times with salad. For the 2 proteins, I always got the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer (some kind of cheese with spinach). These two combos are definitely the best.

This place is sus and I really did not like the service…read more We came here for a quick dinner at 7 pm (there was no one else inside). We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma and Butter Cheese Naan. They came out with Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma (did not notice this right away as it's all covered in sauce). I told the waitress that we were just waiting on the naan and she said that it's coming. She then proceeded to ask what kind of naan we want (so they weren't working on it). Once we started eating, we quickly realized that none of the dishes were lamb. We told our waitress and she was like oh no I'll bring you a lamb one. She didn't take the chicken one away or mention anything about paying for it. The food was pretty good overall so maybe a lot of good reviews are from delivery. When we were done, we asked for to go containers. They were gross and had white flecks/oily stuff all over them (just thinking about people that did delivery and had their food packed in those containers already...gross). They brought us different containers that were fine. The chef then came out and said he charged for the Chicken Korma (that we did not order) but didn't charge tax on it. Excuse me? First of all, if you even wanted to try to charge for that, you should've said something upfront. Second of all, you should never try to charge a customer for a mistake made by the kitchen. Will not return.
