This was my first time visiting. My partner who came here over a decade ago suggested that I would love the food here. It was a friday morning around 11am. They barely opened so we were the first customers. Interesting interior decor. Nice and cozy. We were welcomed by Mohammed a nicer elderly individual. After looking through the menu, my partner went with the chicken tikka marsala mild spicy. I chose the lamb vindaloo spicy. Appetizer was onion bhaji. He quicky brought out the crispy papadum compliment with my mint and red chutney. It was delicious and a nice starter. Something nice to munch on while we waited for the onion bhaji. The bhaji was good, a little different from what i was used to. I guess south indian cuisine is a bit different from the north. Regardless it paired well with the mint chutney. Next the main course. Wow! The chicken tikka marsala was pretty buttery and tasty. My partner loved it saying the consistency has not changed from over a decade ago. To me that is solid. My vindaloo was delicious with a good amount of spice level. You could taste the flavor without dying from spice heat. Again a little different from what i am used to. Since i am of burmese decent, i am used to dryer oily curries but i am sure everyone's palette is different. Both dishes paired really well with the saffron rice amd garlic naan. We ended the meal with a complimentary ras malai, on the house from Mohammed. Such a nice gentleman. The desert was just what we needed to end the meal on a hot day. I can see why this place has been around for over 40 years. Food is great and customer service is exceptional. Very friendly people who treats you with the utmost respect. Definitely coming back again when i am in the area. Thanks again!

I'll start off by saying my photos are awful! The food was great and photos do not do it justice. It's a little tricky eating in red light but we sat in this section by choice. When we walked in it was pretty late evening and we were greeted and told to pick where to sit. Our server was helpful! We had someone with a gluten allergy and I am vegan. We had plenty of options. We got a coconut curry, Bengali vegetables, naan, pickle. I understand this part of California is older and it can be costly to do repairs, but I would suggest doing a little detailing in the kitchen and bathroom areas. It looks like others have shared it's not very clean. This was my observation.

The BEST indian food in LA!! The owners of this restaurant are so sweet. They gave excellent recommendations, and even brought us a complimentary appetizer! All the food is very reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious. The mango lassi was the STAR of the meal. It was just the right amount of sweet, and you can tell the mangoes they use are extremely fresh. We got the paneer tikka masala, the lamb biryani, and the chicken korma - all the flavors were so distinct and SO good. We got a rice pudding at the end for dessert, and that was also extremely flavorful, and very cheap while still satisfying that sweet tooth at the end of a meal! I'd definitely come back here again! The restaurant was so pretty inside, and the booths allow privacy to catch up with a friend over a nice dinner.

Everything about our visit to Anarkali was amazing! From the food to the service to the music... everything exceeded my expectations. Our waiter Hazeem (please forgive me if the spelling is incorrect!) was delightful - so kind and gave some great recommendations on what to order. The food was incredible! I can't say enough good things about how delish it was. I can't wait to go back! Definitely my new favorite spot

I'd been meaning to try this spot forever and finally made it happen. Turns out, the hype (at least in my head) was justified. The place has been around for 48 years which already tells you they're doing something right. The setup is mostly booth seating. One side has this dim red lighting, the other is brighter with white light...kind of a cool split depending on your mood. Also, there's a small parking lot in the back which is a win because street parking around here can be a gamble. Best surprise? Zero corkage. Yep, you can bring your own bottle and they don't charge you for it. That alone makes it worth a visit. We brought sake (random choice, but it actually paired really well with the food) and it ended up being a great call. We ordered the dinner combo for 2 and it was a ton of food: veggie samosas, veggie curry, chicken korma, rice, chicken tandoori, garlic naan, plus dessert. Everything came out solid, no weak links. And the price? Around $60 before tip, fantastic deal. Service was great too, Mohammed took care of us and made the whole experience easy and relaxed. Definitely coming back.

Looking for Indian food in LA, Anarkali is the place to go! Everything here is simply great! From the food, sitting area, and staff, I have no complaints for anything. We went here for a birthday dinner, and the staff made everything feel so welcoming! The cozy atmosphere really immersed the group and the food made everything better! We ordered a bunch of different dishes and I have no complaints on anything. My favorite was the Malai Kofta, it was very flavorful and had me wanting more. If you're looking for a place to go for great individual or sharing plates, Anarkali Indian Restaurant is the place to go!

Ordered take out so I can't say anything about the ambiance. They have great deals online! They also have a hugeeee menu. They started preparing the order immediately too which is nice. I got chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and rice. They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options too which i also love. The chicken tikka was so good, and everything can still warm after a long delivery drive. Definitely would want to go and sit in, very tasty food!

Always a great experiences eating here! The service is top notch! The food is authentic and tasty. Good value. We had: for attentive, potato Samira and Shrimp tandoori. For main dishes-chicken tikka masala, Chana, matter paneer and chicken biryani with Raita and mango chuntney. It was all very tasty. Very nice setting as well. Relaxing, comfy booths.

This was my second visit. Judging by the atmosphere, it feels like a very expensive, upscale Indian restaurant, but the food is reasonably priced, delicious, and truly great value for money. I highly recommend trying the Chicken Tikka Masala, Shrimp Curry, and Mango Lassi, absolute must-orders!

I've always griped about the lack of quality North Indian food in LA. From price point to taste, it's one of the only types of cuisine that LA hasn't caught up on. I've seen Anarkali praised as one of the best spots in the greater LA area, and after stopping by for lunch on Saturday, I wholeheartedly agree! The owner, Mohamad, is super friendly and immediately makes you feel at home with his hospitality (and extra food on the house). I got a paneer tikka masala (medium heat) with buttered naan and chai. It was divine! Everything was perfect, including the giant, spicy creamy chai, and all came out quickly. I stuck around and caught up on reading in their big comfy booth. Price point was fair and portions were large. I'm so glad I found Anarkali (:

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Every dish we ordered was packed with authentic Indian flavors, and the portions were generous. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, the garlic naan was soft and freshly baked, and the biryani was aromatic and delicious. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a great atmosphere for both family dinners and casual outings. If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine with excellent service, this place is a must-visit. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone craving amazing Indian food!

What time does the kitchen close?

    Are there low sodium options?

The posted menu does not show any low sodium items. Your best bet would be to call the restaurant and see if they can accommodate this request.

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes

Are any of the breads vegan? Such as the regular naan and roti?

Yes, I have been several times and the owner himself confirmed that the regular naan, garlic naan, and roti are all vegan. I haven't asked about any of the other breads yet.

Is the happy hour still available 4-7?

And thank the lords that I went with a group so we could try a bunch of different bites~ I will start off by saying that I truly cannot understand some of the haterade or strong dislike comments that talk about lack of flavor because genuinely every dish we tried was flavorful and overall pretty darn delicious. The spice level was actually a bit high for some of my friends but really hit that perfect mild-moderate heat for me. We ordered the dosa onion rings, piri piri fries, paneer parm sandwich, the bbq wings (for my omni friends), the malai rigatoni, and the green chile chutney pizza. We were hungry as a group of 4 but I will admit we had a few bites left at the end that we could not finish. Honestly everything was delicious but the standouts were the piri piri fries and the paneer parm sandwich. The fries came out hot, crispy, so well seasoned with both ketchup and raita dipping sauces; ugh I can't help but love a good potato! The paneer parm sandwich was such a thick, indulgent slab of fried paneer with melted cheese and chutney, chef's kiss would absolutely get again. The dosa onion rings were so true to their name because you could absolutely taste the dosa batter on the outside; it was a tad difficult to bite/cut but otherwise also very solid. The mango chutney that it came with hit and this is coming from a girl who usually doesn't like sweet chutneys. The green chile chutney pizza was sooo tasty; good fusion between a classic pizza and I love green chutney so could it get better than this? We tried both alcoholic and N/A drinks and they were delicious! The tandoori spritz was A+ imo. The interior is bright and it's fun to really hit a sports bar with such an eclectic fusion of foods. It was interesting to see the variety of sports they had on each TV too. Even with the small comment on service below, this place deserves a 5/5 and I would totally return. Prices are very fair for quality, esp in this economy. Service was...interesting. Friendly overall, checked in on us when first items were dropped off, but not again. When we were ordering, we wanted to be mindful of portions/quantity so we asked for some guidance and were essentially told "well I don't believe in restricting myself and you guys are all adults so you should order what you want." Totally understand the energy and intention, but did find it rather unhelpful as we were visiting from out of town and had no place to store leftovers. I understand the role of server when it comes to upselling, but it was a really strange interaction when we were already ordering quite a bit.
