I'll start off by saying my photos are awful! The food was great and photos do not do it justice. It's a little tricky eating in red light but we sat in this section by choice. When we walked in it was pretty late evening and we were greeted and told to pick where to sit. Our server was helpful! We had someone with a gluten allergy and I am vegan. We had plenty of options. We got a coconut curry, Bengali vegetables, naan, pickle. I understand this part of California is older and it can be costly to do repairs, but I would suggest doing a little detailing in the kitchen and bathroom areas. It looks like others have shared it's not very clean. This was my observation.

The BEST indian food in LA!! The owners of this restaurant are so sweet. They gave excellent recommendations, and even brought us a complimentary appetizer! All the food is very reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious. The mango lassi was the STAR of the meal. It was just the right amount of sweet, and you can tell the mangoes they use are extremely fresh. We got the paneer tikka masala, the lamb biryani, and the chicken korma - all the flavors were so distinct and SO good. We got a rice pudding at the end for dessert, and that was also extremely flavorful, and very cheap while still satisfying that sweet tooth at the end of a meal! I'd definitely come back here again! The restaurant was so pretty inside, and the booths allow privacy to catch up with a friend over a nice dinner.

We ordered the dinner combo for 2 and it was a ton of food: veggie samosas, veggie curry, chicken korma, rice, chicken tandoori, garlic naan, plus dessert. Everything came out solid, no weak links. And the price? Around $60 before tip, fantastic deal. Service was great too, Mohammed took care of us and made the whole experience easy and relaxed. Definitely coming back.

- My New Obsession Every once in a while, you stumble on a meal so good it redefines what "flavorful" means and Anarkali's Chicken Tikka Masala with Butter Naan did exactly that. Hands down one of the most memorable meals I've had in 2025. The chicken tikka masala is perfection tender pieces of chicken bathed in a sauce so rich, aromatic, and layered with spice that every bite feels like comfort and celebration rolled into one. Paired with buttery, pillowy naan that's ideal for scooping, this combo is honestly dangerous because I could eat it every single day and never get tired of it. This is a 10/10 no question. I'm almost mad at myself for not trying it sooner because now it's locked in as one of my all-time favorite meals. Anarkali has officially earned a permanent spot on my rotation If this is what Indian food has in store, I'm ready to explore every dish on the menu. Decent Indian food, with really slow service. Had reservations for a Friday night. Was sat right away - it was busy but not crowded. Ordered a few different things, chicken tikka masala, korma, garlic naan, dahl, and chana. It took about 45 minutes for the food to come out - felt like they forgot about us a few times. Food finally came out - wasn't bad, but not as good as the restaurants in the Artesia area. Not sure I'd come back on my own, but there's not many Indian restaurants around the area so is an option if I'm craving a curry.

We had a fantastic experience at Anarkali! The food was absolutely delicious--every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Lamb and chicken masala was killerrrrrrrrrrr. The service was just as impressive: everyone was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly without being overbearing. This might just be my favorite Indian restaurant in LA. I was lured in by the BOGO deal on Uber Eats for a chicken tikka masala and I've never looked back. Their curries are all so aromatic and flavorful. The naan is soft and pillowy and has the perfect char from the tandoori oven. And I can't check out without throwing in an order of potato samosas or coconut shrimp. I've only ordered delivery so I can't speak much on the service or ambiance but I'm very eager to come in soon and check Anarkali out in person. Everything I've ordered has always been delicious and like any good curry, it tastes even better the next day. I'm a lifelong fan! read more

I wish I could give this place 5 starts because the hospitality and service is SO great. Truly, they are extremely kind and generous, but I want to be honest about my food experience for other foodies. When we came to eat here around a 3:00 pm on a Monday, it was completely empty, so I was a little nervous about what quality of food we would be served. To start off, we ordered the onion bhajji, samosas and chaat fries. The samosas and bhajji were so beyond cold even though the flavor was really good. On the menu, they have masala fries and chaat fries. Chaat is a dish with yogurt and chutneys and spices over potatoes or tortillas, but what we got was fries with masala on them, aka chaat MASALA. Why have two different forms of fries on the menu when they both mean the same thing??? Chaat masala is masala.... So why have two different listings for the same thing and mislead people? SO CONFUSING LOL We were warned the chicken tikka masala would be sweet, and that was okay because we also asked if we can still make it the spiciest they have on top of that. What we received was the sweetest, blandest dish in Indian history. The flavors really confused me as an Indian person used to Indian flavors. We also ordered the saag and that was okay. The garlic and cheese naans were also good. The best thing we received was the sizzling chicken tikka. It was truly cooked to perfection. For dessert, we ordered gulab jamun and kheer. Tell me why they gave us kheer with the gulab jamun INSIDE of it??? It's listed as two different dishes, why are you combining them???????? Now I have kheer, which is delicious, with a cold ass gulab jamun sitting in the middle. I was just confused Overall, I wish I loved this place because the reviews spoke so highly, but as an Indian person, I was disappointed in the flavors. Amazing service though read more

This is such a wonderful restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious, flavorful, distinctive and subtle all at the same time. My husband and I were so inspired that we asked Mohammed, the owner of Anarkali, to cater my husband's retirement party for us. He graciously invited us to dinner and will be catering for us in 2 weeks! We are so excited to share his dishes with our friends. I highly recommend Anarkali. Came from out of town, and I've had this place on my LA list for the longest time. So glad I finally gave this place a try. Had so much food on their lunch special for only $29.99! One of the best Indian meals I've tried, cute authentic looking interior, and the best service (the owner even said he'll give a complimentary dinner to my boyfriend's mom after he said he wanted to take her here next time). Highly recommend going here when you visit LA! read more

Beautiful oasis of authenticity in the heart of West Hollywood. This Indian cuisine isn't your average spot, begin with stuffed crispy samosas with potato, lentil.. This place exceeded our expectations! I made a reservation for 14 a couple days in advance by calling the restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday on a Thursday night at 8pm. Parking: there's a small lot in the back of the restaurant but lots of street parking (meter). Ambience: the place itself is small but can fit about 6 tables plus a large table in the middle of the restaurant that fit my party of 14 perfectly. It was pretty empty when we went so that made our service really quick. Mr. Mohammed was the best! He was attentive, quick, and kind. While he was taking our orders he took them down on separate tickets so during the end of the dinner when we paid we all paid separately which was really convenient. Our water glasses were never empty and he always triple checked that we all got our food. Since it was my friends birthday he gave her a large special plate and even gave it to us on the house! He also gave the table free samosas! The food was amazing! We tried the chicken tika masala, vindaloo, muscles, fries, the wrap, and much more. Everything was amazing! They also stored the cake that I brought and brought it out at a great time. We will be coming back! read more

We (a party of 2) arrived just after 9pm and were worried the kitchen was already closed. Fortunately for us, this restaurant serves dinner until 10pm. The menu is extensive so we decided to try several dishes. All were deliciously flavorful and served hot. My friends and I came here on a Wednesday evening for the first time. We just picked this place because it came up on Yelp when we were looking for a place to get together and have dinner. I'm SO glad we picked this place!! The service was fantastic! One of my friends is disabled and this place is very accessible. We had the lamb vindaloo, chicken coconut curry, eggplant, vegetable biryani, a bunch of different kinds of breads and the pickles. Absolutely everything was delicious! This is the place you want to go to and I HIGHLY encourage everyone to try something different! We are definitely coming back! read more

First time coming here and tried the kora and butter chicken! We LOVED the Korea, it's so so good!! The butter chicken was a bit on the sweet side but still very tasty. We also added rice and extra naan (love the garlic naan btw) The owner is the NICEST GUY EVER!!! Before our food came out he brought the onion ring (not sure what it's called) and a samosa out for us to try just because it was our first time trying the restaurant. I was so surprised both was so so good!! Loved the onion ring thing. (Next time I will def order again) It will not be my last time coming here. The food is amazing. Monday night was my daughter's birthday. We had lagged on planning and a friend had recommended Anarkali for an impromptu celebration. Being Monday it was not too busy. The menu is extensive. This is a family owned and run establishment. It's casual and friendly, with fresh, delicious food and warm, hospitable service. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and left feeling warned and satisfied. I highly recommend Anarkali for classic Indian fare. It's reasonably priced and great for a group looking to eat on Melrose! read more

Came right when they opened on today and it was the best choice I made. I saw that their lunch specials were really amazing and affordable. I ordered to-go. The server was super friendly and saw that it was my first time. He gave me complimentary extra rice and naan bread. While I was waiting for my order he brought over water and soup for me. Super thoughtful! I ordered the shrimp curry and the tikka masala lunch for two. Super tasty and flavor. I'm def coming back!! After eating Anarkali Indian Food, I am euphoric. It's hands down the best Indian food I've ever had, and the owner and staff are super nice. I actually feel like they are happy to serve me, which is so rare in L.A.! THE FOOD: Other Yelpers here seem to be commenting on the Chicken Tikka Masala, and for a good reason. It is incredibly delicious and savory, as is their Coconut Curry Chicken, and each entree is prepared to your preference of spiciness (mild, medium, hot, very hot). Not being a huge fan of burn-your-mouth spicy foods, I go with "medium" which has a presence but doesn't overpower the flavor of the dish, or my ability to enjoy the rest of my meal! My mouth is watering right now just thinking about the soup. You get free popadoms & sauces while you wait for your food, which isn't usually that long. Staple side dishes? Veggie Samosas and the Garlic Basil Naan YUM! If you're a beer drinker, try the Taj Mahal or King Fisher (they aren't small bottles either!) I'd say this place is great for everyone from Indian food first-timers to connoisseurs. THE ATMOSPHERE: Don't let the run-down appearance of the building next door deter you. Inside Anarkali is nicely decorated, clean, and well taken care of. There are plenty of private booths along both walls, as well as a table-seating area in the center that would be good for a large group. It is mellow and relaxed. PARKING: If you can't find a spot on Melrose, use the Aaron Brother's lot (entrance on La Brea across the street from Pink's) FREE DELIVERY: Calling for delivery is super easy and met with a friendly voice on the other end of the line. Be sure to keep a hard-copy of their menu on hand when you get one because the one on their website is split into 3 pages and a little harder to utilize. There is no delivery fee to worry about, my food arrives in about 20 minutes from the call, and most importantly - it's still hot! They also offer takeout. The chicken tikka masala is really good...i am just wondering a place like this that is so nice and the food is great does not have alot of people working... they are so under staff ... This place would be much nice if they had more people working there and the service would be better....On a busy day i just saw 2 people working there thats not right ... The owner must be really cheap.. . he does not under stand thats not how you run a business. And more thing i wont ever order delivery from them because the food takes 2 hours to get to me .. and every time i call they tell me the food should be there soon... so that tells me the owner if this restuarant is really cheap to hire more delivery drivers... and one more problem i had there is the take forever to give the check .....i love this place but i hope the owner really changes his ways and hire more people... and when they give the rice pudding they put it in a very ugly sliver metal cup..... thats really being cheap... this place has been here for years ... i just wish they would change alot of things and then anarkali would be really great..... maybe some day it will change once the owner hands the restaurant to his kids and they will make a change.....because the way its runned now sucks ... this place would be awsome if they hired more people and more delivery drivers .. then the sevice would be much better.... maybe it time for the owner to retire.......and let the resturant run by some one else who can run much better......i hope 2 see this place another 30 years..... read more

We have been loyal patrons of Anarkali for many, many years, always enjoying the outstanding food and service. We especially loved the samosas, which had unique dough and delicious vegetable filling. Unfortunately, about a year ago, the long-time cook left, and the quality of the food has noticeably declined since then. We decided to give the restaurant another try after the cook left, but the sauces and curry chicken just weren't the same. We chalked it up to being overly picky at the time and hoped it was a one-time issue. A week ago, I sent my husband to buy samosas, hoping to enjoy the same delicious treat we used to freeze for later. Sadly, the samosas were a huge disappointment. The dough seemed stale, as if they had been sitting around and were simply reheated. The filling was poorly made, with half-mashed potatoes and large chunks, completely different from the well-blended filling we loved. The sauces that accompanied the samosas were just horrible. The mint sauce barely had any mint and was extremely watery, almost like tinted water. The tamarind sauce was even worse--far from the taste, smell, or color it should have had. It also resembled tinted water, with the red sauce being spicy but equally tasteless. Both sauces were so bad that I almost vomited after trying them. After giving Anarkali several chances, we have decided not to return. It's heartbreaking to say goodbye to a place we loved for so many years, but the change in cook has unfortunately led to a significant drop in food quality. read more

Okay I am indian man so I now how the good indian food give taste. Let me tell you something, this place give me the most authentic indian food. It make me feel the way like I am back home. I order the chicken tandoori royal feast, and wow what a good price ($21.95) for amount of food that come(a lot). It come with chicken tandoori and two of their vegetable dishes of the day, however they let me customize my royal feast and pick any vegetable dish I like. I ordered the royal feast and they give me this royal service. The staff make me feel like I am their family. They gave us free dessert too. I will definitely be back because this is by far my favorite Indian restaurant in America. Special thanks to Mr. Saad for being good host. He has beautiful smile. Will make you feel happy. TIP#1: I've been here a couple of times now and I noticed if you come around lunch time you will really fast service. We got our food within 15-20 minutes. But during dinner they are almost always full so it take a little bit longer. But be patient because food and environment make it worth it. TIP#2: I hear rude table next to us complaining about late food. They come same time as us and it was a full house at the time. And they were yelling at the server for food taking 45 minutes. Please do not do that because the servers are nice people. Good fresh food take time to make. People who complain about that do not go to real good restaurants enough, stick to the fast foods please. I recently visited Anarkali with high expectations, as my family and I frequently dine at Indian restaurants. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, while the staff was friendly and accommodating, it was evident that the restaurant's processes were not in place. When we asked for medium spicy dishes, we were served food that was flaming hot, making it impossible to enjoy. It was clear that our preferences were not taken into account. The menu was confusing and poorly designed. As regular patrons of Indian cuisine, we found it difficult to navigate and make selections. Additionally, the quality of the food was extremely disappointing. The flavors were off, and it did not meet the standards we expect from an Indian restaurant. The service issues extended beyond the initial greeting. We did not receive water in a timely manner and had to request cutlery five times before it was provided. This level of inattentiveness is unacceptable. Moreover, Indian cuisine often involves serving curries, which require spoons for proper serving. Shockingly, we were never given spoons to serve our food, which made the dining experience even more frustrating. Overall, our visit to Anarkali was a disaster. Despite the friendly staff, the poor service, confusing menu, and lackluster food left us deeply disappointed. I have been meaning to make a yelp account for a while now and this restaurant and it's owner just sealed the deal for me, i just had to make one after getting a delivery from this restaurant for like 7th or 8th time not to mention all the times me and my girlfriend went to go and dine in to eat. I'll start off by saying that i was not always a fan of indian food but when i go here the food is always wonderful and changed my perspective on indian food. And the service is just amazing. Every time i go there the owner, Mohammed, always just greets us with his smile and shakes mine and my girlfriend's hands. it always just a welcoming experience. When we leave there was almost always something on the house that Mohammed gave us before we left. I recently ordered a delivery and it came at a good time as usual. I ordered a Chicken Dopiza and garlic naan with some rice. To my surprise the owner also threw in some of the tandoori that i always usually order but this time it was on the house woot woot :D. I always love trying different things, and once in a while I order spicy just for fun and boy is it spicy AND OFC DELISH. But to my shocking news i heard that the restaurant will undergo some renovations. This is actually wonderful news and i cannot wait to see the all the new designs that i heard will be innovated to the restaurant. I am definitely gonna go once more before the restaurant closes for a while. read more

I recently dined at Anarkali and had an amazing experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with beautifully decorated interiors and their service was amazing. The menu was extensive, offering a wide variety of traditional dishes, from Chicken Tikka Masala, flavorful veggie curry and garlic naan. We started with the samosas, which were perfectly crispy and packed with meat. The chicken tandoori was bursting with flavors. The garlic naan bread was soft and fresh, and the rice complemented the dishes exquisitely. This has long been one of my go-to eateries -- not just among Indian restaurants, but in general. I have so many friends who feel the same and a suggestion to meet up there has always been met with enthusiastic approval. Every now and then I "drop out" for a while for whatever reason and then return -- and of course rediscover how delicious the food is and how great the staff makes you feel with their friendly, gracious, and generous service. My latest "return" was last night (06/22/21) when I had a craving for their Veggie Samosas, Shrimp Tikka Masala, and Tandoori Chicken. (I'm still in pandemic mode, so it was take-out.) To my delight, extra goodies were added my order as well, on the house -- I did say they were generous :-) While I was there waiting for my order, I took in the very familiar sight of how much their dine-in crowd was loving the food and the interactions with staff. Then I got home, dug into my dinner with relish... and, as in the past, asked myself what the heck took me so long to return! Well ,in my US tour with my Indian colleagues we always were starving for good traditional and authentic Indian food ,guess what !!! after searching for a while we got it in here. So far I can say among all the Indian restaurants in LA this one is the best for me and my friends, my friend from India and by touring with them a lot ,I also got a good Indian taste, so I can judge the real Indian flavor very well so I find it here finally after 10 days roaming around LA. The waiters are so friendly ,when they heard we are tourist and first time here they greets us like real guest and samosa and moreover ,a friendly smile. The food taste good we ordered bunch of foods from vegetarian to meat dishes,all were excellent.I just cant mention one single dish which will be not justice to other once,lol, so for my its the best in LA. BTW, they have free parking so don need to punch your card while going to eat. The manager provide us free desert on the house ,which was heart touching if you are a tourist ans seriously looking for good flavor for past ten days...I would highly recommend to everyone for this one,its the best. read more

I have 3 favorite Indian restaurants in LA. Anarkali happens to be one of them. I get delivery or takeout maybe once a month. I love Indian food, and I think Indian food is probably the best because they travel so well. Recently, my friend told me about this app called RushOrder (which is like a takeout/delivery app) - however, the reason why I got so excited was because of the $10 OFF $40 promo going on (no limits!). AND I was ALSO able to stack another discount (using promo code HUNGRY3 - i think still valid). I order from here ANYWAY so why not save some money while I'm at it? Things to order: of course the chicken tikka masala is creamy, and lovely. The Chicken Makhani is buttery and delicious. But my absolute favorite has to be vindaloo - spicy, flavorful, and love the potatoes in there. Scoop some of that over some Shrimp Biryani - and I think I can eat this every day. Garlic naan and CHEESE naan to make like an Indian quesadilla. Man.. just writing this review is making me want to stop by to take out some on the way home! read more

So I had a very interesting experience yesterday. I ordered tandoori chicken, garlic naan, and chicken curry for dinner and it took an hour and a half for the food to arrive. Once it did arrive, I opened the packaging and noticed that there were no utensils. Am I suppose to eat with my hands? It's understandable for the chicken and naan, but how about the curry? In addition, the tandoori chicken came burnt. I called the restaurant to ask whether the chicken is suppose to be like that or if it's burnt and they told me it was burnt. The person who received the call told me to just eat around the burnt part and throw it away. They did tell me that they would give me more chicken next time I order, but I don't know if I would want to order from here again. Lastly, they just hung up on me even though I wasn't done talking. Food is something that goes into a person's body. If it's burnt, then they should've provided some type of solution to the current problem. I will provide a photo of the burnt chicken. read more

Anarkali Indian Restaurant has been my go-to for takeout for a while now, but today was my first time actually stopping in to pick up my order instead of having it delivered. Even in that quick visit, I felt the warmth of their hospitality right away. The staff was so kind and welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere inside made me realize just how much care they put into the entire experience--not just the food. The Chicken Tikka Masala is always delicious: rich, flavorful, and consistently made with the same quality every time I order it. Their naan is soft and fresh, perfect with the sauce, and the lentil soup is one of my favorite comfort items on their menu. When I lived nearby, in the late 1990s, I would go to this restaurant with out of town guests. Somehow I would usually end up in the same booth. I thought those beautiful high-walled wooden booths might have been the reason, but no matter who I went with, we would stay a long time talking. The food was good too. A little over a year ago I went back with someone important to me. The decor had changed a bit, but they still had high-backed booths (though not the same ones). We spent five hours forging the bond of a lifetime. There was a problem with one of the waiters' honesty, and the manager took responsibility when we called him afterward, and he gave us a free meal. When we went back to claim it, it was beautiful how he glowed as he honored his promise. It was such a nice quality to see. We didn't sit in a booth that time but still talked effortlessly for several hours. We liked the food too. Something about this place! The stars are for the whole experience. Enjoy. read more

I googled Indian food by my zip code and found this place. I don't know what the actual place is like since I ordered delivery. I must say that I was VERY disappointed. Not only did the food take almost two hours to arrive, but the portions were very small and there was no rice with the meal. I asked the driver why it took so long and he said that they recently moved to Hollywood. FYI they are still listed in MacArthur Park and I wouldn't have ordered from them if I had known they were in Hollywood. . By the time the driver arrived the food was cold. Maybe I'm spoiled by NYC Indian food where it's for the most part always good, the portions are insanely large and the service is a bit on the crazy over the top side. I found that this place was lacking all of that. Not to mention that the prices are NOT cheap, we spend almost $40 on two entrees and two appetizers... and yes, there was no rice included. I would highly recommend skipping this place. read more

First off, what a Gorgeous interior to enter upon! The decor, setting and accents are true beauty! The Indian music fills the space quite lovely. The waiters are very nice and extremely helpful with ordering tips for newbies!!! Now the food!!! That's the real star!!! I absolutely love the Tikka Masala and everything else that I had - Chicken Tandoori, Sag Paneer, Naan, Mango Chutney, etc. My kids loved the food also!! I've been coming for years. I brought my Mother & Father, as well as my brother and his family for my parents 45th Anniversary yesterday, for the 1st time. They thoroughly enjoyed everything and had so much food left over that they get to enjoy seconds!!! My brother and his wife enjoyed everything also. Needless to say, we will be back again!!!!
