Was almost going to have a good experience. Ria was nice and patient. I had food restrictions because of my diet. Upon leaving, the lady that I took a picture told me to take the trash outside the building to the streets. This is literally the best Indian food I have ever . They are experts at dialing in the spice to your liking. I have been unable to tolerate spicy food, while my husband prefers medium spice. Both of our meals were perfect. My dish, Aloo Matar, was not spicy at all but full of delicious flavor. I got the box with the rice pudding, soup, rice and naan. My husband did the same with butter chicken. The portions were huge and we got two full meals each. We just moved into the neighborhood and stopped into this family owned business craving Indian food. Everyone was friendly, and they have a large menu with lots of vegan & vegetarian options. Then the rice and naan came out with an accompanying sauce. I don't know what sauce it was and didn't ask. Maybe palak soup? Anyways I used it to add flavor to the rice and naan. The shrimp tandoori came out on a sizzling platter. The meal was fine. Filling and the tandoori shrimp was good. The rice didn't have a lot of taste by itself and the naan too. Maybe a curry would have been good with them. The rice pudding was ok. The restaurant is simple and clean with Christmas lights on a pole in the middle where the servers worked from. I was on the bus on my way home from work and got off at a random stop because I was so hungry I was shaking. My plan was to try and find a cheap food truck in dtla but all I could find was Mr. Masala, and i'm thankful that was the case. The total was only $26 for a combo with Chicken Tikka Masala, soup, a giant piece of naan, a tray of rice, and rice pudding. We order the Onion Pakora solid 10 - they were "GOOD DIFFERENT". We've ordered delivery from here a few times; nice naan, good spice level, in some orders though the chicken has been dry but my only real disappointment is the raita- it tastes like it's made with something other than yogurt- maybe vegan yogurt? Wow. Absolutely delicious. After a less than adequate dinner down the street (and considerably overpriced), we noticed this place on our way back to the hotel. When the door opened, we caught the aroma coming out of the kitchen, and were instantly hungry again. We ordered the chicken vindaloo and some veggie samosas to go. Everything was excellent and the flavors were incredible. I imagine full service would be excellent too as everyone in there was so kind and friendly. Don't waste your money down the street. I've already had the pinnacle of Indian Food, which is "Lal Mirch," in Studio City. So any other Indian Food I try, is always a risk. Thus, I'm happy that his place did not disappoint and was absolutely a great value for my money. I also loved that the menu on postmates had descriptions and pictures of everything, which made it very easy to choose items. I got rice pudding, veggie samosas, lamb samosas, pulao rice, lentil soup, plain naan, garlic basil naan, raita, a la carte chana saag, and chicken tikka masala for only $45. I'll literally have lunch for the next four days (I'm pretty sure I could feed a small army with everything I got). Now let's break it down: chicken tikka masala: Sauce was on point for sure, there is a good amount of chicken, could be a little more moist, but still loved it raita: very good, no complaints chana saag: good (I feel like saag is never really a stand out dish anywhere so there is not much to say about it) garlic basil naan: good, but not as good as "Lal Mirch". With "Lal Mirch" the bread is less thick, which is nice, and you can taste the garlic and seasoning on top. With this bread it's harder to taste the garlic on it. lamb samosas: good (not amazing, but not bad either) rice pudding: needs cinnamon and nutmeg and love. it just taste kinda like milk. so it's not very special. mint chutney and bbq sauce: just fine. Lal Mirch has the best bbq and chutney, and this place doesn't even come close. the bbq sauce just needs a lot more dimension (tamarind?) and just love. this is a big missed opportunity because the sauce can make or break a samosa Lal Mirch is the best, but I'd say, since I don't live in Studio City anymore, I'll probably order from here again because it was very convenient and there weren't any major hiccups with any of the flavors. read more

This is unfortunately a quintessential spot in my Ubereats receipts regardless of how much I try to scale back on ordering delivery. I can only speak for their takeout experience. The portions are very promising though, and the food is typically pretty good. Balance of quality & quantity. I appreciate a reliable spot like Mr. Masala. Tikka masala - I usually get either chicken or lamb. Meat can be pretty dry, but the flavor is solid and it comes HOT. Goes great with the naan/white rice when you run out of it. Garlic naan - being real there's not much of a difference to me between Mr Masala's regular/garlic naan. I know they add garlic toppings, but it's a dry topping so the garlic flavor doesn't permeate. Comes in a large flat piece. Uneven thickness (personal favorite) so you get both crispier and more doughy naan Biryani - I usually get chicken/lamb for this, medium spice. I wish there were a little more salt, as most of the flavor is straight heat. Portion is really substantial & they pack the container full. You may get the occasional raisin or cardamom pod in here. This is worth it & delicious! Veggie samosa - this is delicious, but lacks flavor. Their meat samosas are only slightly better about seasoning. Price is good for their giant size. read more

I have only been to this location once, for dinner on Thanksgiving day. I started off with the mango lassi. I liked the glass. It came in, it was a good standard mango lassi, not especially thick or creamy but ok and it had a little bit of ice in the bottom of the glass. I tried the paneer masala, fish masala with rice, and paratha bread. Of course, the sauce was the same for both dishes just one had paneer and the other had fish. I would like to have been able to review a different sauce, but by chance my dining partner, and I both ended up ordering masala. It was a very nice sauce in both cases, both the fish and the paneer dishes were quite enjoyable. The paneer had a very nice fresh texture, there was none of the rubbery feel that can sometimes happen with it. The fish was fresh tasting, no issues there. The masala is definitely on the more savory end of the spectrum, not a sweeter dish which can often be expected when people think of something like chicken tikka masala. I ordered with medium heat level, and I would say that is what it turned out to be. The rice was nice and normal enough, it was just your typical plain basmati rice to mix in with the masala. I very much enjoyed this restaurant style of paratha. It came as a big round bread on the plate like a pizza and it had the most delicious flavor, a bit crisp around the edges. It kind of reminded me of the East African versions of chapati. You could definitely disarm the layers and it was quite nice. They did not bring any chutneys to the table, so I just enjoyed it on its own or dipping it in the masala sauce. Before the food arrived, individual plates were brought to the table, and then dishes were served family style so that we could help ourselves. The service was fairly prompt, and the food came out reasonably quickly. They told me that they do not do any thali options, which are those plates where you get multiple things so you get to try a few different dishes. So at this restaurant, you have to order every single dish separately. Even if I was dining by myself, I would still have to order at least three different things to make it work. I didn't sample any desserts here so I cannot review that. The overall ambience was quite casual. The restaurant had an airy open feel about it. I did not end up using the restroom so I cannot give feedback on that. Would I come here again? Yes I most likely would, I do not honestly see myself going super out of my way for it, but if I happen to be in the area and it was an option, I would not have any reason to not want to go.
