And they are happy to make book recommendations. Room full of herbs which are premeasured typical in 1-3 oz baggies. Just help yourself to their vast selection of fresh dried and even hard to find herbs at extremely reasonable prices. No one is hovering over you. Every herb is clearly labeled and has it Latin name, weight and price clearly on label. Knowledge help is nearby. Ample parking. If they don't have what you need in stock they are happy to locate and order for you. I ordered a number of books they were out of and Elizabeth Van Buren essential oils they did not stock in the store. They also carry beautiful jewelry, crystals and accessories for your herbal alchemy.

This one didn't have much in the way of that, so not really much for me. But did have many other things. They have a lot of religious stuff for pagan followers and folks interested in metaphysical or occult practices. You'll find lots of herbs, athames, gemstones, books, tarot cards, pendulums, and so on. It's quite a large shop, too; two rooms and lots of space. They do tarot readings here as well. When I came here during the weekend, they were offering various services like tarot, and I think palmistry and astrological readings. I did take a look at their tarot decks because I like ones with interesting art and collect several, but they had mostly standard decks you'll find at similar shops; nothing really new or interesting for me. If you're not familiar with Elgin, you'll need to rely on GPS; this shop is on a frontage road near Judson and in an you have to get to it in a somewhat odd way, so using a digital map will probably be your best bet. Obviously I do not know the owner(s) background... so I'm reserving judgment on the use of the exonym for Romani people in the name of the shop.

Skull shaped bowls, taxidermy oddities, various signs and decorations that my Halloween 365 days a year heart couldn't live without. Every time I go in I find something new. Mix that with a staff that is helpful and polite... you just can't miss. They also put on special events, especially during the Halloween Season. Various tarot readings and psychics. As it is, it has this shop existing about 7 miles west, so when one is standing in the store it says I'm too far away. Darnit! The woman who was working--ostensibly the owner--was so friendly immediately upon walking in that I felt like she really enjoyed just having customers walk around and visit. She chatted with me as I walked through the store (jamming to the Earth, Wind, and Fire she had playing; man they just make me want to move). There's an eclectic mix of goodies here. Lots of wind chimes, wall art, glass artwork, jewelry. I was able to avoid picking up additional rings, and got a few chains for some a few pendants that I have but haven't been able to wear since I don't have a necklace for them. I also appreciated that she helped me think about how I could find similar stores, giving me a couple of keywords to use when looking, since I often struggle to find the type of sterling and gemstone jewelry I like. If (probably when) I visit Galena again I will be stoping at Nature's Treasures. I probably wouldn't have stopped here without others on Yelp mentioning it so thanks folks! There are pendulums; books introducing one to paganism, or Wicca specifically as well; puzzles; tarot cards; pins; diaries; greeting cards; and so on. Nearly half of the shop features supplies for fiber crafts, so of course you'll find yarn here but also yarn bowls, cross stitch and embroidery kits, and so on. I bought several beautiful rolls of wrapping paper, which I spent a ridiculous amount of money in but it was really gorgeous and I can't wait to give some gifts now! The folks here also run a ghost tour. I overheard the proprietor speaking with some other customers, and he mentioned they do a 90 minute walking tour. I was so bummed that I had plans tonight (even more bummed that those plans didn't really materialize!!). Next time I visit I would like to take a ghost tour. It was especially interesting listening to these folks talk with the owner because they themselves are ghost hunters, and they were asking about haunted places and said they like to take their own equipment out to explore. The store is not really accessible, unfortunately. There is a big step up from the sidewalk to enter. If you have mobility issues but can manage a large step up (probably at least 6-8 inches) it may work, but wheelchair users will not be able to enter. The owners seem to be cultivating a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, so if you need assistance I'm sure they would be happy to help.
