No frills grocery store here. They have self check out lines and a dedicated butter and biscuit area. Not being from the area, never saw an Ingles before. It seems to be akin to Winn Dixie. It was pretty simple in and out.

My little girl wanted a chicken leg, daddy had to try the beans and they were yummy.

The chicken was delicious great customer service and a clean cool store, what more could you ask for. Even has a Starbucks for a pink drink.

On the way to and from the Smoky mountains we kept seeing Ingles on the highway signs. We thought it was highly amusing that someone decided to name a store 'Ingles' so out of sheer curiosity we stopped in thinking that it was going to be something like a Cuban cafe only to be surprised to find its actually a supermarket... A large supermarket at that. The 'cafe' part is that there's a starbucks inside, but hold on, they sell other stuff too. You want some gelato? Yup; they have it there in your choice of waffle cone or a cup. Or maybe you're in the mood for a boars head sandwich; they've got that too. They have a wing bar in which there's chicken wings of all flavors there for the taking. I believe it was like 5.99 a lb if I'm not mistaken. They have a sizable sitting area with comfortable leather sofas/seats. It reminded me a lot of our local Lucky's market. They had loads of vegan items, stuff that I've never even seen at whole foods so I'm guessing it's a local thing. I managed to buy some items including a box of vegan beer bread, and a bag of Ingles brand coffee. What was originally intended only to be a quick coffee/snack stop ended up being an hour long discovery of what seems to be a local gem. It also got us excited about coming back to Asheville in particular, from the little we saw it seems to be a really cool town.

Person getting into illegally parked car. Semi truck blocking lane.

I have shopped this area Ingles for 35 years without ever an issue. Today was a completely different story.I got dropped off out front to run in and get some half and half. Checked myself out, ran out in the pouring rain my husband proceeded to pull up to get me. A large semi pulled up beside him and we got completely blocked in. There was a car illegally parked in the fire lane. My husband waited for the semi truck driver or the other owner of the illegally parked car to come out. The truck driver came out so my husband asked him to either move up or back a bit so we could get out the truck driver became Irate towards my husband said he had a F'n job to do and wasn't moving until he was done! I got the tag of the illegally parked car and asked that they announce it and get them out of the store to move their car. Making a long story short the very young, unprofessional acting Manager Emily did nothing to diffuse this situation but made matters only worse. She was yelling, screaming, talking unprofessionally and letting another customer get involved calling people names. A Professional Store Manager came out and understood the situation and said the illegally parked car needed to be moved immediately and the situation would have been resolved. Ingles needs to train these young Managers better before letting them act on their own and scream at customers that only escalate an issue instead of diffusing an issue. I've reported Emily to the corporate office and I will follow up with the Managers at this Ingles that I've known for 15 years! Oh and did I mention that Emily banned me from ever shopping at this Ingles again, she is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful she is a manager in training who Is in much need of professional training! Between the Semi truck and an illegally parked vehicle in a fire lane if an emergency vehicle needed to get in there it would of been impossible.

They have a…read moredaily special where you can purchase a full sub for only $8 and change so of course that's what I got. I wanted wheat bread but they were out so I went with the regular white. No biggie. With that I got a tuna sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers and salt and pepper. Delicious and the sandwich was HUGE. MUCH better than Subway. I have to point out; when I get a sandwich I usually get green peppers but they had mixed colors for their peppers. I made a comment of how I only get the green ones but that the mixed is fine; the guy grabs a handful and this sweet man picks out just the green peppers for my sandwich. He didn't have to do that and I was so very thankful. Huge plus for just that. Shows he actually cares and I love that! Wish I got his name. But sir, if you see this, THANK YOU!! You made my day with that small gesture. I walked around the store and stumbled upon the Snyders pretzel pieces and they were on sale 2/$5. I hadn't had those in forever so of course I bought two bags. The sour cream and caramelized onion flavor.....SO GOOD!!!!!! Will 100% go back if I'm ever in the area. I need to try more subs!

After a fabulous afternoon birthday tea with friends, I popped into Publix Waynesville. The lines were long, so I opted for self-checkout. Packing bags , I was admittedly slow and deliberate as I am not good at "bagging". I also looked to note that items were being rung up properly (ex. BOGO) so it probably took me about 5 minutes to ring up a full trolley of goods and pack them. As I was placing the receipt into my purse and preparing to vacate the spot, an employee came up and loudly announced that she "did not see me ring up my paper towels" and demanded the receipt. This is something that she HAS THE TECHNOLOGY to check without uttering a word to me. It was an obvious attempt at public humiliation (why?). Several people put their head on a swivel to see the drama of someone loudly being accused of shoplifting paper towels. I wanted to crawl under the register and die, but I could only manage to hand her the receipt and put my head down. After the employee saw her obvious mistake, she only said "okay, thank you" and handed me the receipt back. I asked the monitor standing nearby "why" she did that, to which she gave no reasonable explanation. I barely made it to my vehicle before I broke out in tears and phoned my husband, who instructed me to return all the groceries immediately. I will give credit where credit is due and say that both CSR Savannah and the store manager on duty were very sympathetic and understood how, in this very small town, this would be utterly humiliating. They apologised profusely and the manager even offered to walk me and my groceries (that I didn't return) back to my vehicle. Regardless, the embarrassement of being falsely accused in such a way as to shame me publicly - when I did absolutely nothing wrong, has forever ruined shopping at the Waynesville Publix. Thankfully, I still have all the Sarasota Publix locations.

No problem at all, so we came back the next morning around 10:15am. We stood at the deli counter while an employee sliced meats (no one was standing at the counter), completed two items, went to get a third, and eventually walked away. During the entire time we stood there, no one acknowledged us, said hello, or even let us know it would be a few minutes. My husband finally asked if anyone could help, and the employee told him no because he had to finish the current order. What was most disappointing was that there were four or five other employees working in the deli area, and not a single person took a moment to acknowledge us or let us know someone would be with us shortly. We would have been perfectly happy to wait had someone simply communicated with us. We are not from Asheville and do not shop at Ingles regularly, so unfortunately this was our first impression. The issue wasn't that the staff was busy, it was the complete lack of customer service and basic courtesy. A simple "Hi, we'll be with you in just a few minutes" would have made all the difference.
