So I go here 2-3 times a week for lunch because I work nearby. Depending on the employee, the sandwich I get every single time the exact same way can be either amazing or absolute trash. It's so wildly inconsistent it's actually comical. Their seating is nice however. Quiet and relaxed. One thing I would love to see is some customer service training for the deli bar. Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of effort to make the difference. Also the ingredients they have stocked for sandwich, making can be wildly inconsistent as well. You would think onions to be sliced thin and long for sandwiches, but sometimes I'll come in and it looks like somebody just chopped them on a cutting board as fast as humanly possible. At the end of the day, I don't expect much from Ingles, but since they raised their price for the sandwich from five dollars to seven dollars, I would just hope to see something that resembles effort be consistent. I was in need of more items I forgot on another trip to Asheville so I knew exactly where to stop, at Ingles. This time I made sure to check out the whole store to see what I missed the last time. The store is very clean and open. The prepared food section is large and has whatever you might be wanting to eat. The prices were really good here too. The staff was friendly and genuine too. As I am in Asheville a lot this will be a regular stop for me but if I lived in the area this would be where I bought my groceries. read more

No frills grocery store here. They have self check out lines and a dedicated butter and biscuit area. Not being from the area, never saw an Ingles before. It seems to be akin to Winn Dixie. It was pretty simple in and out. read more

I love this store and wish I had one just like it near home, it is big and clean and I can't keep up with prices on every item I buy so can't really tell anything about value. Got the French Hamburger rolls and they are as good as they get. Grilled that afternoon and it was a perfect match with our hamburgers. Yesterday, I had an Old Fashioned Club Sub from the 29 Tunnel Road. The roast beef on my sandwich was so bad that my sandwich was in edible!! It made me throw up! YUK!! On the way to and from the Smoky mountains we kept seeing Ingles on the highway signs. We thought it was highly amusing that someone decided to name a store 'Ingles' so out of sheer curiosity we stopped in thinking that it was going to be something like a Cuban cafe only to be surprised to find its actually a supermarket... A large supermarket at that. The 'cafe' part is that there's a starbucks inside, but hold on, they sell other stuff too. You want some gelato? Yup; they have it there in your choice of waffle cone or a cup. Or maybe you're in the mood for a boars head sandwich; they've got that too. They have a wing bar in which there's chicken wings of all flavors there for the taking. I believe it was like 5.99 a lb if I'm not mistaken. They have a sizable sitting area with comfortable leather sofas/seats. It reminded me a lot of our local Lucky's market. They had loads of vegan items, stuff that I've never even seen at whole foods so I'm guessing it's a local thing. I managed to buy some items including a box of vegan beer bread, and a bag of Ingles brand coffee. What was originally intended only to be a quick coffee/snack stop ended up being an hour long discovery of what seems to be a local gem. It also got us excited about coming back to Asheville in particular, from the little we saw it seems to be a really cool town. read more

Got a sandwich made with double meat. The bread they used was the size of hot dog bun. The amount of meat along with toppings should have been loaf of French bread used for bun. That will be the last sandwich they ever make for me. It's sad that ingles employed such a dumbass manager. read more

Ingles does not train employees. This has been proven on countless occasions at each an every location I've visited over the last 6 years living in the area. Last week, my wife and I needed a quick bite so we decided to give a custom sub a chance at this NEW giant location. I like how they use Boar's Head brand meat/cheese and it's pretty hard to mess up a sub...well...they really messed this one up. We ordered a 12" turkey and cheddar sub and rather than making the entire sub and simply cutting it in half, this very young employee(bless his heart) made each half separate which took double the time than necessary. It was like he was never trained by a veteran deli employee/supervisor how to cut bread much less assemble a sandwich which is not by any means the employees fault but proves Ingles management does not take the time to make sure employees are trained properly before serving paying customers. The meat, cheese, nor any of the toppings were evenly distributed. When we noticed he was struggling to cut the bread we should have just thanked him for the help, let him know we had something come up and walked out. I've left several Ingles stores very constructive reviews and even chatted with management in the past...unfortunately, it seems they just don't care which makes me sad that this locally owned and operated grocery store chain does not hire passionate folks to train and manage employees. I understand finding passionate employees may be tough, especially when they pay less then a living wage but it seems Ingles managers are not trained themselves to value customers enough to coach up & train employees...smh:( read more

I have shopped this area Ingles for 35 years without ever an issue. Today was a completely different story.I got dropped off out front to run in and get some half and half. Checked myself out, ran out in the pouring rain my husband proceeded to pull up to get me. A large semi pulled up beside him and we got completely blocked in. There was a car illegally parked in the fire lane. My husband waited for the semi truck driver or the other owner of the illegally parked car to come out. The truck driver came out so my husband asked him to either move up or back a bit so we could get out the truck driver became Irate towards my husband said he had a F'n job to do and wasn't moving until he was done! I got the tag of the illegally parked car and asked that they announce it and get them out of the store to move their car. Making a long story short the very young, unprofessional acting Manager Emily did nothing to diffuse this situation but made matters only worse. She was yelling, screaming, talking unprofessionally and letting another customer get involved calling people names. A Professional Store Manager came out and understood the situation and said the illegally parked car needed to be moved immediately and the situation would have been resolved. Ingles needs to train these young Managers better before letting them act on their own and scream at customers that only escalate an issue instead of diffusing an issue. I've reported Emily to the corporate office and I will follow up with the Managers at this Ingles that I've known for 15 years! Oh and did I mention that Emily banned me from ever shopping at this Ingles again, she is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful she is a manager in training who Is in much need of professional training! Between the Semi truck and an illegally parked vehicle in a fire lane if an emergency vehicle needed to get in there it would of been impossible. read more

Disappointed in behavior of both checker and manager when I caught a scanning error. I was handed my receipt and told to take it to the manager (the one behind the raised platform). I thought it was something the checker should have corrected at the register herself, but said nothing as I walked over to the manager section and stood in another line. The gentleman ahead of me insisted I go next and I explained that the checker had overcharged me by $9.50 by scanning an item twice. The manager responded by saying humans make mistakes and you know how computers are. She didn't apologize for the error or inconvenience. I don't normally watch the checker nor check my receipts unless something is totally out of whack. But, from now on I will at all Ingles and especially this one that used to be my go to store. At home later, I saw that I was charged full price for an on sale item and recalled another time when a customer in front of me caught a scanning mistake. So, bottom line, watch the checker at scanning. Often, prices are not marked on items and you must remember what was posted on signs. Groceries are crazy expensive. I don't need to line owners pockets with my meager income. read more

This is not a bad place to grocery shop. Pity that the prices were a little higher compared to others. I did like their salad bar. It was pretty large and had a great diversity of offerings, including 5 types of olives. I hear that it is a chain based in Tennessee. Not much else to say. Two day's ago I purchased a Lemon Pepper Cooked Chicken from your Deli. When I cut into it blood poured out, it was raw! If my 5 yr old Grandson happened to get a piece without me knowing he would have gotten very sick! If you are a local who has signed up for the Ingle's card, it is likely a great store. If you are a tourist -- and Asheville has them, expect to pay incredibly inflated prices. The surcharges for wine, for instance, we're as high as five dollars per bottle. when I enquirer about an alternative, I was directed to KMart. That never makes a great impression. read more
