I was in the parking lot waiting on my Husband at Nicks of Clinton between 1-2PM and my daughter had to use the restroom. As I became aware that many of the stores in the strip said they did not have a public restroom, I was persistent to find one as I had a 4 year old who has recently graduated from potty training who needed to go to the bathroom urgently. As I had ask two prior businesses on the same strip if they had bathrooms, which you clearly could not see or find, I came across this business with women who I thought would understand the struggle of a 4 year old little girl having to use the bathroom. Lo and behold, whoever was working in the first front booth on the left side of the establishmen thought it would be in her best interest to stop me as I am walking back out the door after she was informed that my daughter could not use their bathroom. After realizing my daughter still did not have a restroom to use, I told my daughter to come on so we could find another one. Mind you, the woman who said my daughter could not use the bathroom left her client and booth to catch me at the door. Apparently, she had to say "ma'am" twice to catch my attention as my back was facing her which indicates I was almost out of the establishment. When I turned back around, she asked me "where are you coming from". At first, I did not clearly understand what she was asking me, as I was in my way to another business to see if there was a bathroom my daughter could use. Then I thought, maybe she was going to give my daughter an exception as she is only 4. When I finally understood what she said, I told the woman I was waiting on my Husband at another business on the strip and my daughter was desperately stating she had to go to the bathroom while we were in the car. As someone who never known a hair salon to deny a child access to a bathroom regardless of if they are getting a service, I thought the woman was going to let my daughter use the bathroom because she was small. But appalling to me, she had the audacity to say "why you ain't get mad at the other business when you couldn't use their bathroom". I told her as nicely and professionally as I could have that they actually did not have bathrooms in view to use and if I was already leaving, why was she stopping me at the door as I am leaving. She also added nastily that I could go to the car wash, which was quite a walking distance in heels from the salon with a 4 year old tugging at you doing the "pee pee" dance. Now, woman to woman, whoever you are, you tested my patience as I was in front of my child and could not give you that exact energy you were looking for but you might want to check your tone towards any mother in distress asking for assistance with their child. I told my daughter to come on and was not talking to you. You made it about you so if you felt I had an attitude towards you, that's on you. But know this, if you keep that nasty attitude and negative energy, expect the same energy back and realize that everyone will not be as professional and walk away because their child is present. Once you said my daughter could not use the bathroom, that should have been the end of our conversation and not you feeling the need to leave your booth and client to keep something going from a simple question. Direct that energy to whoever had you mad today because I am not the one.

What I wanted were cornrows but really wasn't sure if my hair was too short, which it did turn out to be too short. The ladies recommended braids and to come back at 2pm. I left and received a call to come in within an hour after me leaving. I was excited. Kadi, took on the challenge of braiding my hair and when I tell you she did nothing short of a miracle. I was 110% satisfied with the style and the time it took. I loved the look, the size and the care she showed to me. All the ladies here at this braidery do amazing work. Second time here…read more It's very clean, like the first time, but the service was better the first time. No one greeted me upon walking in or asked what kind of service I wanted. Last time I visited, I was told that the braider typically works on Tuesdays or by appointment only and the braider was not present. The woman that I liked styling my hair, Maria, was also not present. The woman I did get was a little rude in assuming that I was fluent in Spanish, being aggressive as she washed my hair and not putting rollers on my hair or covering my ears before drying. Both employees working spoke in a very low tone, so low that I didn't even understand what was occurring until my hair was getting a blow out when I wanted curls :/ Nonetheless, there's a special on Tuesdays for wash and sets. I'll probably continue visiting this salon when there's a special or when I'm in the area. Other times, I think I'll stick to my usual salon because this one is too far from my home for hit or miss service.

I took my soft locs out and then searched Yelp for something with good reviews that was close to me and open and came across this salon. The salon is cute, spacious and clean. Maria was working by herself today but God knew I needed my hair done so she was finishing up someone as I walked in and had me at the shampoo bowl within 10 minutes. She scratched my scalp good with the shampoo and massaged my scalp with the conditioner. Then off to her chair. This was the first time I have ever had a blow out at a Dominican salon with no pain! The pain and feeling like my hair was being burned was why I stopped getting my hair straightened. She blew me out then flat ironed it before giving me a trim and sent me on my merry way in just over an hour. To note, 3 people walked in at different points of me getting my hair done. She greeted them and let them know that there would be a wait because she was alone. They all agreed to wait and she did not rush through my hair to get to the next client. She said it was just her because no one wanted to work after the holiday so I'm hoping it's better staffed on a normal day when it will be inevitably more busy because I definitely plan on returning.

I generally wear weaves, but wanted to switch to a more protective style. Since my stylist, doesn't do braids I looked up a few styles and decided that I wanted someone to give me Marley twists. On a relatively late, Thursday night I found myself outside of Crown Royal Hair Salon. I had already been disappointed once, because after booking an appointment elsewhere I was canceled on very unprofessionally. I walked in to Crown Royal, and was greeted warmly by a stylist working out of a private room. She informed me that they had a braider on site, but she was unable to do the style I wanted. However, she gave me the card of a woman that was able to do Marley twists. I was deflated, because I figured since the stylist was off, she wouldn't want to come into the salon to take a walk-in client...but I was wrong! I called the number I was given, and was consoled by a very sweet woman named, Awa - who agreed to come to the salon to do my hair. I was surprised, given how late it was but glad I would be getting my hair done after all! The salon has a great set up, I appreciated the fact that every stylist has a private suite with a television, sink and styling station. It made the experience very special for me. I got to get my hair done, and watch my favorite television show too! Awa is amazing, I have relaxed hair and was concerned the style I wanted wouldn't support the weight of the braiding hair but she did a wonderful job. Very neat, quick work, she's also very meticulous about detail (she trimmed all the small hairs off of all of my braids!) and doesn't cut corners. I'm not sure if it is a salon wide deal, but I was offered $20 off for my first service as a new client with Awa. Definitely a great perk if you ask me. There's a barber shop next door, so you and your boo can get your hair done at the same time. There is also a beauty supply a few steps away, so if you need to run and buy something for your hair appointment you're well within reach. Hungry? Chick Fil-A is right across the street! LOL! Not bad!

So this past saturday I went in looking to get a quick weave, I've never got it before. However, I've seen it on others and it looks nice. So when I walked in I looked for someone since it was my first time there, and the lady in the first booth as soon as you walk in asked could she help me, so I replied yes, I was looking to get a quick weave and she said she could do it and it would be "100" dollars. I said okay fine and I was ready to get started. As I sat in her chair and she was going through my natural hair she said, "you have a lot of hair and your hair is long." well my hair isn't that long to me it touches my collarbone or a bit shorter. Anyways, so she said that and I said well would it be a problem? she replied no. Mind you I know many girls with longer hair who get a quick weave. So I got my hair washed and she took my leave out and put gel and some sort of lotion I believe and got under the dryer, oh my hair wasn't put in a ponytail or anything the hair in the back was tucked under like a one braid type of thing. Anyway, I get in the dryer gt back out she puts a hardener on it then after that she glued the tracks. End result my hair Looked Great! from the front because my leave out always blends well with any hair. So fast forward to the next day, a track came out at the bottom so as i felt my hair, I noticed that my hair was out, like basically a fro, with nothing securing it. I was like wtf but I was like hey maybe i can fix it. But when I get to work I asked my co-worker hey can you take a pic of my hair, some reason it feels weird and I cant see. THe face she made was like a shocker she was like Kris, what in the hell? and it wasn't until I looked at the pic I was so embarrassed. So i quickly text the stylist " Sharon" and told her what happen, she said I can fix it.. but at this point I felt so stupid and embarrassed because this shouldn't happen only after two days. I told her I do not feel comfortable with her doing my hair again due to this experience, and I don't trust her. So she was saying things like I'm being dramatic but how am I being dramatic when I just got my hair done and it looks terrible, I didn't even go on my outing with friends. So anyways she finally says I will refund your money no problem. I went to a professional stylist and she was so upset she said "Oh hell no get your money back." she also said I got played because the lady didn't even put a cap on my head, and if she knew my hair was thick and long it was supposed to be cornrowed down. I asked three other girls that do hair, and they were shocked as well to know I didn't have a cap nor was my hair in ponytail or secured. so basically I got played!!1 So after work I call her to meet up, and she then tells me I'm only refunding you 80.00 dollars, mind you I paid her 100 dollars plus a 20 dollar tip! yeah a tip. So i said well can I atleast get 100 back i did tip you, she said its for the shampoo cost, but um isn't that protocol, but I said okay so the tip should cover that, but she said no "like she said she will pay me 80.00. and that i said i liked my hair when I left, ofcourse I did it looked good from the outside. when I met her she had the money in her hand, I said okay do you wanna see my hair, I turned around and showed her and she said "okay nonchalantly" I thought she would say I'm so sorry this happened, this isn't my best work or something but she didn't care. not only did I lose 40 dollars but I also lost money for the hair I purchased so total I lost on 90.00 additional dollars. To conclude, this post is not to bash the salon itself, but the professionalism of the stylist, I felt advantage was taken because I am naive and too nice, so its my fault, but you don't do people like that. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
