I've been going to European wax center for years but every time I liked going to a certain esthetician, they end up moving on. So I figured why not go to someone who has their own business and support them especially during this time. I reached out to a few businesses but no one really called or messaged me back. Or some places only used soft wax-- which I'm not a huge fan of when it comes to getting a brazilian. Well, Alyssa was one of the few people that reached out to me. She also told me how she was still closed (i had gotten confused and thought she was open) but would text me if she would reopen soon. FINALLY, it was announced that body waxing was able to open up and she messaged me if I would like to book! Ofc I took the chance and I don't regret it! Alyssa is pretty cool and the appointment went smooth. Took her time but it felt quick! Her room is cute and comfy. Then didn't position my leg pillow so it was awkwardly by my feet which don't need to be elevated for a massage. The massage felt like someone pressing on me and rubbing their fingers all over me rather than a true massage. It was so close to feeling good, especially since I was sore from working out at the gym... but there wasn't enough pressure for it to actually make the time worthwhile to the point where I got impatient and wanted the massage to be over. There was a minute where I even thought it was turning sensual because the touch was so gentle... instead of relaxing I tried to come up with an escape plan When I was told to flip over, I realized it was super bright in the room - which isn't very relaxing - and I had to ask for the eye cover since I was squinting so hard. The eye cover was a rag... just not professional feeling. There's so many little things that made the ambience not so peaceful ... music kept cutting off and stopping, I could audibly hear her walking around because of the shoes she was wearing, when she told me to flip it was at a normal tone rather than a whisper which really created an uneasy ambience for me. At no point at all, by the way, asked me how the pressure was (like every other masseuse has ever asked). Sadly, I'm not done. I had to embarrassingly ask her to apply more pressure towards the end of the massage and she had the audacity to ask me to pay for a deep tissue next time ? Let me be so clear - I've been to at least 20 high end and average massage parlors and I always get Swedish. Sometimes, Swedish massages are even too much pressure for me and I request to go lighter. She continued to tell me that others ask her to put more pressure (so clearly, it's not just me who feels this way) but that they should too be requesting a deep tissue massage. Just get over yourself. It's truly like walking into a salon where an intern was working just to make some extra cash, not a true masseuse rewarding you with relaxing me-time.

So as you can imagine my heart sank when right before my appointment with her when EWC opened back up I got a call that she was no longer with the company. Fast forward to now has her own business so of course I stayed loyal and came to her as soon as I could. Julie is amazing, she takes such great care of me and leaves my brows and face looking so amazing and clean. I don't know how she does it but her waxes are always painless and I have her do my full face so there are definitely tender areas but she knows exactly how to make it not hurt. Do yourself a favor and go see Julie, you'll never want to let anyone else other than her touch your brows ever again!

Julie did a great job of shaping my brows and  cleaning them up, my eyes looked lifted and my lip was smooth.  Her technique is almost painless. Then onto the Brazilian wax. I let her know that I had stopped getting waxes because I was getting many ingrown hairs and I wasn't getting the right information from my previous waxer at EWP on how to make them go way. Julie was again very nice and informative and let me know the different kinds of breakouts and ingrown hairs and the best remedies for them. The whole process was really fast and it honestly was the best wax I've had. So far I'm really impressed! She has client for life : )

She took her time mapping my brows to make sure the shape was right for my face, then did a brow wax and hybrid stain to help fill in the tails and create a more balanced look. I have been getting my eyebrows waxed by Chelsey for a couple years now. When I first starting…read moreseeing her I came in with completely thin, over arched, over plucked brows because I had become frustrated with going to other places (beauty bars, nail salons, threading places) who would always destroy my eyebrows and ironically say "your eyebrows are so thin!" Imagine that. Chelsey literally saved my brows. She is so meticulous and careful so they always come out great. The first time I got them done by her she left small spaces where my eyebrows could grow in. After the next few sessions, eyebrow hairs had filled in and eventually I regained my shape. I can literally follow the progression in photos as they improved! I don't feel like I have to fill my eyebrows all the time like I used to, and its all because of her. I'm so grateful. Depending on the style of waxing studio you choose, some opt for hot wax with strips, some for hard wax that gets ripped off, some a combination depending on services. Hygiene and sterility are important, especially with not using the same stick, used to procure wax, twice. So many factors! Regardless of wax type, the most important component is obviously the skills of the aesthetician. I am so happy that I found Chelsea! She is professional and thorough. The task was not simple... In the past, 8 weeks of growth could equal increased pain and increased length of time. Chelsea is very skilled, using a combination of waxes for the Brazilian including hot wax with strips for all but the sensitive areas. For the prime sensitive area, she used hard wax and created a handle out of the wax, to avoid picking the wax off piecemeal. This is one of the risks you could take with a less trained aesthetician, as well as repeated waxing over the same area multiple times.Thankfully, Chelsea did not do either of these things. Perhaps she waxed the same area twice total? It didn't hurt nearly as much as it should have given the amount of hair. She coached me on when to take breaths to minimize pain and she was fast! It only took approximately 30 minutes to do a Brazilian and eyebrows. As she said, "no one wants a slow Brazilian." So true, Chelsea! So true! Fast is not always best if there is any sacrifice to patient comfort, but again Chelsea ensured this was NOT the case. She was clear with her instructions and I was comfortable. She was absolutely hygienic, reminding me (the nurse who started to do this prior to her advisory) not to touch the skin where she waxed to reduce risk for infection/transfer of oil. She also educated me and offered tips for exfoliation. Read through other reviews about her skills with eyebrows. She shaped and fixed my Bert (from Sesame Street) eyebrow into two happy arches. I highly recommend Chelsea.
