Mason + his female coworkers were SO warm & welcoming to my guest & I! From the moment I stepped into the studio to the moment I left, I felt catered to & just great vibes everywhere. To add to this, the studio is super clean & there's lots of comfy seating available. I would definitely go back to this studio for another tattoo. Prepare...this is a long one. My first red flag was the fact that there are no tattoo designs on the walls when you walk in. All painted artwork and awards only. 2nd red flag was when my artist clearly didnt prepare for my design although reference photos were sent prior and a photoshopped sketch too. I had to reschedule. Be very clear on what you want. Verify every detail before the sketch is done into stencil. Dont assume the artist will be using artist skills. Also, dont fall asleep during your session...you may wake up with a bad tattoo. My 3rd red flag, the appointment time comes and he prints out my photoshopped sketch from the previous week, I assumed (my fault) he was going to put some artist flair onto the plain design, such as using a johnny depp photo on the side for reference or something but nope. I fell asleep...I woke up (yes the artist has a light hand) to the tattoo not looking like the design. Or even the stencil. Stencil still on and clearly unable to follow the stencil at minimum. I thi k maybe its just my angle and sleepy eyes. Take photo and go back to sleep. I have other tats, many and all my other artists have put a little flair of themselves into the design, and would pull up a side photo if necessary, even ask me more questions. NOT out right not follow it. To top it off, when I stood to break from the session, the artist looks at that tattoo and makes a face. (He knew what he did!!)...I walk to my car and take a picture in natural light...and notice alllllll the issues. I was supposed to have an edward scissorhands theme on my thigh. My artist did not know who edward scissorhands was nor did he get the concept. Such as scissor hands!! I have like 3 blades on a hand. The face is warped and flat. His feet are completely different and look like moon boots. When I expressed that for the rest of the piece (3 sessions scheduled) I would like more attention paid to the hands face and feet. The artist claimed he would need more space for that at least 4x4 for the face. But will try his best to make it how I like. I was about to drop 1500 on this piece. And he knew what the design was before. Seems like he bit off more than he could chew. And now ive got one drunk sloppy edward on a sidewalk that isnt right. I canceled my appointment and was never contacted again. I eat the deposit and take the L on this. I didnt follow my gut feelings nor did I stop him when I thought he went outside the lines. (My view initially was skewed because it was upside down and I kept falling asleep...again my fault). Im embarrassed to post the photo but hell I walk around with it. Im not saying they are all bad. Just not great for these kinds of things. Also would like to state this took 6 hours. And he took many breaks and kept having to shake out the hands. A lot! I have a sleeve done and that took 6 hours and barely any breaks and no shake outs. Overall im bummed. Haven't fixed or finished it. Just walking around sour. read more

I went to Inky Dreams for a cover up originally by Mason however that did not occur. Mason is a tattoo artist that practice an ethics that I greatly appreciated. The tattoo I originally wanted for the cover up would not have worked because of the damage the previous tattooer made. It was heavily scarred and made recommendations for other options and now I have a tattoo that is one my forearm that I love instead. He was caring, a great conversationalist, and I left more informed about the globe and music. I had a great experience, I wholeheartedly recommend. read more

KNOW HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF AND SAY NO! In my 12 years of getting tattoos never had I had such a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I came to get a tattoo with Mason he made a few designs for the piece I wanted. I looked at the designs and they weren't what I was expecting so I voiced my opinion and right off the bat he became VISIBLY UPSET. I tried explaining what I wanted but he didn't seem to understand what I was envisioning for the design. So I told him what I liked and what I didn't like and he went to make changes. When he came back it was closer to what I wanted but it didn't look anything like the reference pictures I sent. I wasn't expecting it to look exactly like the reference pictures either but I expected some similarities. So when I voiced my opinion again and he began SHOUTING AT ME and BERATING ME, telling me that if I wanted specific things I should've mentioned every little detail beforehand, and that he wasn't charging me for the time he's spending on the design and that it was taking too long. Now one thing I don't mind doing is paying more, I was happy to pay more for his time because I understood that I was asking for a lot of changes. Regardless of me mentioning this, he continued being SASSY and RUDE. My past experiences have always been a collaboration where I talk to the artist about changes and it's fine because at the end of the day the design is PERMANENTLY being added to MY BODY. NEVER HAVE I BEEN SHOUTED AT BY AN ARTIST. It felt like I was being BULLIED into getting a tattoo that he just lumped together without even looking at my references. If you don't know how to advocate for yourself or say no to someone that's pushing you to get something you don't want I recommend going somewhere else. Or if you just want to be treated with respect and not get yelled at, go elsewhere. At the end, I asked how much I owed and he discounted the amount because he acknowledged that he was "irritable," claimed that he was "stressed." He gave a few excuses for his behavior but the words I never heard were "I'm sorry" or "I apologize." Being stressed is understandable but taking it out on a customer is not. read more

I made an appointment in advance to include an email with reference photos. Arrived on time and the person advised I was not on their schedule. He did come to speak to me briefly and advised that he would not be the artist for what I wanted due to coloring/shading needed. Then rather than advising who that would be or what other options could be he went back to start a tattoo. No acknowledgment of what my next steps would be or who I should speak to in the shop instead. 0/0 on customer service. I just walked out. What he advised could have been communicated via email with my inquiry and driving 30 mins for this to be the result is why I'm sharing this review. If you opt for this shop I'd advise calling vs. using a booking form in hopes of not ending up with a similar experience. read more

Where should I start? I'll start with my first interaction with the lady (I'm sorry I forgot the name!) but she was SO sweet on the phone and extremely accommodating. I called around to multiple shops and for whatever reason they didn't want to answer or call me back but Inky dreams tattoo answered on my first call and booked for right away. This was an extremely sentimental piece for me that I wanted done on a specific day. Although it was a very small piece (since I don't have any big pieces) she answered all my questions. I wanted handwriting in my grandmothers handwriting and Mason was the artist. When I tell you it looks like my deceased Grandmother wrote it in pen on my arm, I mean it! It was perfect! Fine and thin just the way I wanted it. I'm not a huge tattoo person so making sure it wasn't too big or thick was really important to me. The facility was very clean and Mason answered any questions. I'm so happy with how it turned out. This is a very professional and nice spot. Mason even cleaned up another tiny one I had that was separating from another artist. They also called me the next day to see how I was doing/healing which actually meant a lot. The price was also extremely reasonable. Many places unfortunately don't do small things like this anymore. Not sure if this page is for Inky Dreams in Long Beach but here we are. I scheduled a consultation with Mason for a cover up tattoo where we discussed my inspo and an appointment date and I paid a deposit. When I asked about budget or how soon I would see the design he said he cannot give me a price just yet and the design would be shown the day of. Fast forward to the day of my appointment he text me an hour and 1/2 before saying he needs to reschedule. I asked can he send the design bc up until this point I was anxious but still trusted the process. After seeing the design I was unsatisfied as it lacked components we talked about in the consultation and looked thrown together. It was not cohesive or creative. Overall bc of this I did not feel he cared enough about my time or the project so I let him know I would like to cancel and if I could have my deposit returned due to the rescheduling. He then asks is this due to finding a new place or costs and says the deposit is non refundable. He says he spent three hours on my design and how my decision to cancel was unfair to HIM bc of his time. We never discussed costs so it had nothing to do with finding someone else and my consultation was at minimum a week 1/2 prior to my appointment. I planned my week around this appointment and paid a deposit, trusted the process and was left extremely dissatisfied and instead of saying here's a refund for the inconvenience or even a partial return due to the fact that He rescheduled my appointment the day of he said how it was unfair to HIM and he if I had any concerns regarding the deposit I should've said this when signing it. They made me feel so comfortable and they were genuinely invested in the success of my tattoo. I wanted to cover up/disguise an existing tattoo and make everything around it more cohesive. I was a walk-in and Sofia free-handed this design on my arm! She's unbelievably talented. As she was drawing I was asking her to make small changes and she was super receptive and willing to change the sketch until I was fully satisfied. This is an unbelievably great tattoo establishment. I am fortunate I found it! My tattoo artist was Sofia. I can't say enough good things about her. She took her time learning exactly what I wanted and made suggestions that made my tattoo even better than I expected. Inky Dreams is open, lots of natural light, clean, with beautiful art hanging on the walls, several by Sofia herself. My son and I were extremely impressed with everything. I had a simple design but Mason still took time, even having me stand up once the transfer was on my arm to check for how the tat would look from different angles. My friend and I had been wanting to get some flash tattoos together for a while now so we reached out to Inky Dreams when she was in town. We are both very happy with our choice and experience with them! It was my first tattoo, besides a stick and poke my friend did on my foot, so I was a little nervous since I did not know what to expect. Sofia was very patient with me and made me feel comfortable. We went with a little skull behind my ear and she was right about it being way less painful than what I got on my foot. I did not feel any pain at all, she has a great hand, and It is healing super well! Loved this place!! I only had an idea of what I wanted so I sent in a few pictures to see if they can create something from that. Once I got there, Sofia captured exactly what I wanted. She has a great artistic eye: The size I estimated it for was a bit small for the placement, it would've looked a bit off. So she kindly redrew it and it looked perfect afterwards. It was a bit of a long session, roughly 5 hours, and she was great! Periodically asking if I needed to take a break. The place was also very clean and hygienic, so I felt safe and comfortable.
