Cuban Sandwich
Jim T.

Despite living in the area for over 10 years, we somehow had never eaten here before so we decided to give it a shot on a beautiful summer Sunday. We got a great table outside with some shade and the view is unbeatable. The live music was good despite an annoying drunk guy at the bar repeatedly yelling during and in between songs. The food was good, we had the chicken sandwich and the cuban, zero complaints as both were solid. The beers were cold. However, I could not help but notice that they were operating in what I could only describe as pure chaos and disarray. Young, untrained and eager to help staff would linger around your table and circle, and circle AND circle over and over and over again. Our server stopped by our table no less than 15 times in our 30 minute lunch. He was so sweet and polite, we just didn't need to be asked how our food was 5+ times in 10 minutes or if we needed anything else 3x between ordering and waiting for our food. I hadn't even taken a bite of my sandwich before he stopped back to ask how it was. Such a nice young man, but I don't think he realized that his attentiveness was actually working against him at a certain point. It was the first time I'd ever noticed a place being overstaffed working against them and having a bit of the reverse impact I'm sure they hoped for on a busy Sunday afternoon in June. Honestly, it all made us feel a bit anxious as we laughed it off because they were great kids, but you could tell there was zero training or oversight. They even started clearing off our table and setting up for the next one as we stood up, literally instantly, hovering a few feet away. I'm sure it will get better as it's just the beginning of June and these kids will get more experience but I guess I'd wonder where the manager was to observe what we were seeing and give some corrective feedback or in general just train them a bit, maybe on a day they are closed, if there is one. Just my two cents.

I don't understand why people aren't raving about this place?! A casual waterfront overlooking the stunning NYC skyline and Sandy Hook beach. The owners and staff are beyond friendly and accommodating every time. Fair prices and generous portions. Their menu is diverse, the seafood all fresh, plus nice drink options (the champagne sangria is lovely with a refreshing peachiness to it + they rightfully carry Big Man's Brew--the late Clarence Clemon's IPA which is hard to come by and smooth like he was). They have great happy hour specials in the summer. PSA: PLEASE GIVE THE COLE SLAW A CHANCE! One of the most overlooked accoutrements on a dinner table (not by me), but theirs is cream of the crop. It comes with their complimentary bread. Also, get the soup sampler! It comes with New England & Manhattan clam chowder and lobster bisque. They are all so flavorful with a nice balance of broth to substance. Right level of creaminess. Cup sizes for each are more than enough. There is somewhat of a long wait during the summer, but typically shorter than other establishments nearby. They have a large waiting area in the meantime that you can hear the neighboring restaurant's live band, so have a drink and relax!

Great views, food and drinks! If you're looking for a casual spot on the water, I would highly recommend. I loved that we were not rushed and could take our time to eat, drink, relax and take in the water views. They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait. Luckily you can grab a drink at the bar while you wait. There's also free valet parking available (just leave a nice tip).

If you are looking for a beautiful spot along the water with great food at very reasonable prices you have to try this place! I have been there twice in the past few weeks and both visits were outstanding. The food is fresh and the portions perfect! Most dishes can serve two people along with an app and your set! The drinks are very reasonable as well and I love their sangria and also the drink called "beetle juice" it was one of my fave movies so I had to try that drink and I wasn't disappointed! The service can be on the slow side but they are all very nice! Besides with the amazing view of the water why not sit back and not rush?!

Fried Calamari

The owners changed. The quality of food is definitely not worth the price. The clam chowder was mediocre and when I ordered the 18$ fried calamari! It was chewy and tasted stale. Would not come back. The ambiance was lonely and the whole place was pretty empty on a Wednesday afternoon. I've eaten here before the owners changed and everything was absolutely crazy delicious. Doesn't seem like the new owners are concerned with food quality.

Caught immediately after shedding, the entire crab can be eaten...shell and all. They offer an intensely sweet, rich flavor and a delicate, crispy texture when cooked). Bahr's Landing prepares this sautéed crab with capers, mushrooms, lemon & butter, mashed potatoes and vegetables. My go-to appetizer is always the Grilled Cauliflower (Topped with tomato pesto, quinoa, and wild rice blend). The crispness of the cauliflower....brushed through the surrounding ingredients.....makes this the perfect starter. Aside from enjoying the mouth-watering food, you'll also feel as if you're dining on a ship, have great views of the pier, water, and the bridge leading into Sandy Hook Beach. Don't forget to visit their gift shop and view all of the maritime decor and beautiful woodwork.

We visited at 5:30pm on a Tuesday with reservations for a birthday dinner and were greeted at front with a friendly hostess and promptly seated. Our waitress was more business than pleasure. While taking our drink order we asked for straws. She didn't acknowledge she heard the request while she was writing things down. As she was leaving the table, one asked, "May I get a straw when you come back". She responded, "I heard you the first time". Yikes!. we didn't know she did. She was curt and seemed annoyed during the entire service- until it was time to give the bill, then she was smiles and friendly. Onward! The Oysters on the half shell were delicious! So fresh. One ordered the Tuna entree and the dish was visually appealing, the tuna steak perfectly prepared, paired with good sides, and a satisfying portion. Another had the fried cod dinner. It had 3 small pieces of cod that were equivalent to the size of kids' meal chicken tenders but copious amount of fries. It may have been an "off night" for the lobster bisque- overly thick, over-cooked burnt flavor, no detectable piece of lobster in it, and certainly no sherry flavor. It had almost a film on it, similar to pudding. Cooking all day since ..? Each at the table took a spoonful when I mentioned the consistency and flavor, They agreed it was not good. This was removed from the bill when brought to the waitress' attention. Two of us ordered the stuffed shrimp, because it was a dish previously enjoyed. This time both of us received over cooked rubbery shrimp that were room temperature at best, and a glob of thick, very dry, and flavorless (instant?) mashed potatoes, that were inedible. We ate a few of the shrimp and left the "potatoes" on the plate. When in the area again; I'll visit and order something different. Won't let one off night make a final decision to not go back.

I did order a pina colada and it was delicious and you are allowed to bring your own food and snacks so definitely do that. We drove and were able to park in the lot. The lot was way more crowded than the sand was, strangely. I thought there would be way more people but it was pretty light. Lots of families so definitely family friendly. They have chairs that many people were taking and sitting on in the water. Lots of picnic tables and areas to sit at. The water is really calm. It's a bay. So you can walk pretty far out and won't be knocked over by any waves. People were playing catch and just having a great time playing in the calm and cool water. It was fun. It wasn't a bad drive from New York so I'd recommend driving if you got the time.

I was a bit disappointed at the lack of seafood on the menu. My picky girlfriend would have enjoyed some flounder or scallops but they only had a seared salmon and blacked shrimp. The Mrs. Got a burger and it was adequate, nothing to write home about. I got the chicken parm and it was ample and terrific. The tomato sauce was stellar! Sadly I wanted the scallops with risotto. This place has potential, the service is great, the atmosphere is fantastic, plus I know the chef has the chops from visiting his last place, the red store in Navasink. We'll be back but I'll be sure to check for seafood offerings before I go.

We ordered the fish tacos, birria tacos, and kettle-style potato chips--and every plate came out looking as good as it tasted. The fish tacos were beautifully assembled, piled high with crisp, fresh slaw that added the perfect crunch to the tender, flaky fish underneath. Light, clean, and balanced. The birria tacos were the star of the table. Rich, deeply seasoned meat tucked into perfectly griddled shells, served with a savory dipping broth that takes each bite to another level. Messy in the best way possible--and completely worth it. Even the kettle-style potato chips stood out. Thick-cut, golden, and topped with just the right amount of flavor to make them more than just a side--they held their own next to the tacos. The overall experience ties everything together: polished yet relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, and dishes that clearly have intention behind them. It's the kind of place where you can tell care is put into both the food and the experience.
