The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant had a good vibe, but unfortunately the service and wait time really impacted our experience. We ordered fairly simple bar food--a salad, a BLT, and fish and chips--and waited nearly an hour for our meals. It took more than 30 minutes after ordering for our waitress to stop by and acknowledge the delay. She apologized and said the food should be out soon, but walked away without addressing our empty water glasses. She later came back again with the same update, and we still had no food. When the food finally arrived, the fish and chips were not hot. After bringing it to our waitress's attention, she questioned whether it was actually cold rather than offering a solution. To make matters worse, we later overheard her talking about our complaint to others. To be fair, the food itself tasted pretty good. However, it wasn't exceptional enough to justify waiting almost an hour, especially given the lack of attentive service and how concerns were handled. So disappointed! We've had their "burger on the DL" (smash burger) in-house in the past and it was delicious. The menu says they're only available "well-done". Yesterday we ordered 2 for take-away, and they were NOT smashed. They weren't even completely cooked! The app said it would be ready in 30 minutes. It was ready in maybe 15 minutes -- because they didn't cook it!! It was a Monday evening, around 6:30. It wasn't busy AT ALL in the restaurant. They didn't have to rush to fill orders. A nice place to unwind after a long beach day. The ambiance is beautiful with a spacious outdoor patio dining area complete with beautiful views of Deal lake. Plenty of fans constantly running to keep our dining experience cool and insect free. The open air bar with large TVs playing the game was a bonus for the sports fans among us. A substantial drink menu with a wide variety of options offers spirits for all, including alcohol free THC infused cocktails! A new and welcomed sight for our party. I had the High Tai, a fun take on the traditional Hawaiian cordial with 10mg of THC. Soon I was transported back to Waikiki beach with cool island tunes playing at a nice volume. Typical pub fair done right had our group full and satisfied. The Caesar salad, shoestring fries and burgers were the standouts. Prices were very reasonable as well. The soup was quite possibly one of the worst french onions soups of my life - and trust me, I've had plenty bad. It was super oily, had no flavor and the cheese was barely melted. Really terrible. The burger had a dry bun and though there were tons of toppings, it was pretty flavorless. The fries were good. The bloody mary literally was served with a lemon slice and no other accoutrements. The avocado toast was just smashed avocado on toast... it could have used something... maybe some feta or pickled onions? Supposedly happy hour is only at the bar although the menu doesn't state that, but we missed it by a few minutes anyway. We enjoyed the drinks, sangria was pretty pretty good. The wings for appetizer were good too (hot buffalo sauce). Had the fried fish sandwich but would not suggest it, pretty skimpy on the fish, doesn't help when you're basically eating a very large roll with minimal fish, Brussels sprouts were not good at all, mostly just shavings and no solid sprouts drenched in vinegarette which was way way too much we didn't even finish it because it was disappointing. Didn't have time to tell the waitress as we had to get to a show. Maybe a burger is the way to go next time? Will come back for music but was disappointed for the food. read more

We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken meal and instead received only a half chicken. It was incredibly dry. We also ordered desserts - the banana cream pie was not a pie but a slop of pudding? It tasted spoiled and smelled fermented. I'm hoping we don't get sick from the one bite we had. I've been to this location many times over the years. The restaurants come and go, but I think Deal Lake Bar + Co. is here to stay! They've remodeled the the inside and it's beautiful. Open an airy, lots of light and cute decor. The window walls shared with the patio make it feel like you're sitting outside. The staff is kind and courteous. We were waited on by Christina, who is an absolute gem! She made sure everything was just as we liked it and also made us feel safe in this unprecedented time. The food is incredible and the bloody Mary's are one of the best I've had in a long time! I look forward to when they begin their brunch menu and expand their food choices.
