Top neck clams on half shell
    Mike E.

Navesink is a fish market with a BYOB restaurant in the back. The parking lot is large is location easy to visit. The decor is cozy and they serve nice crusty bread at the tables. We were a party of 6 and had a couple carafes of water on the table when we were seated. Menu prices are fair. Portions aren't large, but generally adequate if you eat some apps and bread with your meal. All fish is very fresh and makes it a great experience if you're craving fish. This place being a fish market, that have plenty of fish choices on the menu and everything was delicious. Shrimp, halibut, swordfish, scallops. My favorite were the raw clams. Super fresh and very affordably priced! You can even choose between littleneck and top neck. Bathrooms in the back don't have the cleanest feel to them. They're also used as stockpiles for cleaning supplies. There were even two ladders in the men's room along with a ton of other stuff. Yes, there's a toilet and sink so you can manage. Prices by the seafood market in front seemed rather high compared to grocery stores or even other fish markets I've been to. I'd recommend it for a fresh fish dinner although.

Navesink Fishery is a gem!!! Right in the middle of a strip mall is a really top shelf establishment serving fresh hot mega outrageous food. The dining area is a bit tight but it's tasteful and perfectly lit. There are no reservations but they have a really comfy living room up front to chill if you have to wait for a table. The entire staff are just great! Everyone is happy and helpful like going to visit family or a friend's house for dinner. We started with a crab cake appetizer that was top shelf and served with a slightly spicy fresh salsa and mixed greens plus a house made tartar sauce that was made with fresh herbs. They don't miss a tick here. Both entrees were served hot and fresh at the exact same time. Somebody runs an excellent kitchen here! I had halibut and my Mrs. Has shrimp scampi and both dishes were amazing. I was amazed how awesome the green beans were prepared and we both had herbed rice that was cooked to perfection. If you are reading this don't think twice go have dinner here and see for yourself. They also have fresh fish and prepared items for quick takeout and a little farmers market with fresh veggies for you do it yourselfers. Don't miss the desert case. Enjoy! This place is a real local gem and great food find.

Sea scallops with a baked potato and string beans

I had a delicious experience with friends at The Navasink Fishery at the Jersey shore.. The front of this shop is a fish shop selling fresh local fish of all kind. It also sells local produce. The back of the shop is a casual, family restaurant with an extensive fresh fish and seafood menu. All 3 of us ordered the sea scallops with a baked potato and string beans. 2 of us started with a a tasty shrimp cocktail and my other friend got an order of clams. Absolutely DIVINE! It's a BYOB so we had a couple bottles of white wine with us. We ended our epic meal with a slice of key lime pie. We split a piece, but we really should have ordered a piece each. This restaurant is a gem!

Penne and seafood with brandy and wine sauce

Hidden gem in a strip mall. Have walked by it before and never knew it was a restaurant. Came towards the end of the night and there was no wait. Service was prompt. The decor was quaint but could use a little lift (add candles to table, paint ceiling tiles, freshen up walls by adding more eclectic frames and pics to existing). So much potential! The tablecloths and paper were clean and floor well maintained. As for the food, great selection of fish and food was cooked really well. However, the broiled combo plate was underseasoned so my tender scallops were looking for a little butter or garlic. The homemade tartar sauce that I dabbed on my fish was simply amazing. The seafood with penne with brandy wine sauce was nice but sauce was watery and would have been wonderful if thickened. Bread served with meal was warm and nice. The real hit here was the creamy corn and crab soup - velvety and butterey. Absolutely friggin outstanding!

    Crusted Halibut Dijonaise

I can't believe my parents never brought me here when I visited. I think it's because they consider it to be an excellent place for lobster, and I'm allergic to lobster. Well it turns out that Navesink Fishery is great for other food, too! Upon the recommendation of our attentive waiter, I ordered the Crusted Halibut Dijonnaise. It was fantastic. In fact, it was so good that my sister, who LOVES lobster, declared that although her lobster was excellent, she preferred my halibut. Navesink Fishery isn't the fanciest place, but it's friendly and cozy, perfect for either a meal with friends and family or a romantic dinner. I'm so glad I finally made it there!

We finally made it here after going past Navesink Fishery for so many years. We arrived almost past the lunch time window but the owner graciously sat us. The market and restaurant is dated and has a simple ambiance. We had: Corn and crab chowder Fried shrimp platter Flounder sandwich platter The French fries are sprinkled with dill- delicious. Food was fresh and nice portions. A good stop for fish/seafood.

Delicious food and great service. Knowledgeable staff that are very nice and professional. A great place to enjoy a bottle of wine, conversation and fresh seafood.

Many people enjoy the interaction that we engage in at the post office, the gas station, the barber shop, the butcher, the fruit store, etc. Here there seems to be a very definite history of the great staff members moving on, sometimes with little or no notice, and it has impacted the comfort level for me, and for many of the people who also frequented the store. The product has been good, at times excellent, but the overall experience has been greatly diminished by some real nice people who were employed there leaving. I don't feel the same joy supporting a business that seems to have a pattern of upsetting what appears to be excellent employees, and this is by no means a negative statement on the new people who come in to replace the one's who leave. I sure the new ones are very nice too. It all just creates this sense of sadness and negativity about and towards the ownership and overall establishment. I guess in life some of us reach an age, or a point, where what we put in our body has to do with more than the food itself. It connects to the vibe, the humanity factor, the trust, etc. I have stopped going to Local 130 after the last person left, almost without exception. And I am a customer who was there a minimum of once a week for several years.

We ordered the fish tacos, birria tacos, and kettle-style potato chips--and every plate came out looking as good as it tasted. The fish tacos were beautifully assembled, piled high with crisp, fresh slaw that added the perfect crunch to the tender, flaky fish underneath. Light, clean, and balanced. The birria tacos were the star of the table. Rich, deeply seasoned meat tucked into perfectly griddled shells, served with a savory dipping broth that takes each bite to another level. Messy in the best way possible--and completely worth it. Even the kettle-style potato chips stood out. Thick-cut, golden, and topped with just the right amount of flavor to make them more than just a side--they held their own next to the tacos. The overall experience ties everything together: polished yet relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, and dishes that clearly have intention behind them. It's the kind of place where you can tell care is put into both the food and the experience. Atlantic House isn't just a good meal--it's a spot you'll want to come back to, and one I'd recommend without hesitation.

It always looked like such a cool place, and I had been really interested in checking it out. I finally made it there the other day, after a brief afternoon at a local beach. When we arrived around 6:30 pm on that Friday evening, we could see that the back deck was very full and that the parking lot was also close to capacity. We were able to, thankfully, grab a spot and walked over to the restaurant, climbing the stairs to the second floor where we met the hostess. We were told that the wait for outdoor seating was 40-minutes, while indoors was 30-minutes. Glancing around, the inside dining room was casual and nautically-themed. The tables and bar were bustling. The balcony was just as busy, but offered live music, so we determined that it would be worth waiting the additional time and added our name to the list. In the meantime, we decided to hang by the outdoor bar but were unable find a spot. Thankfully, a duo was vacating one of the few high-top tables in the bar section, which were first-come, first-serve. We grabbed that table and settled in to watch the beautiful sunset over the boats docked in the harbor. The staff and the few patrons we encountered during our visit were all very friendly, which only emphasized the laidback vibe of the waterside venue. The food, however, was mediocre at best. When our dinner was delivered, we did not receive any silverware, so we had to grab that from the bar, which was also from where we had placed our order. I had requested the Pan-Seared Salmon, which was well-cooked and served with thin stalks of asparagus, dry jasmine rice, and a huge amount of buttery garlic herb sauce. It made sense that the fish was served in a bowl, because there was so much greasy butter that it would have leaked all over if it was on a flat plate. Thankfully, the bartender had given me a few side plates, so I was able to move my food out of the oily bowl. My friend also had some issues with her meal. Her cup of New England Clam Chowder was flavorful, but watery and mostly broth. Her Fried Flounder Sandwich was heavily breaded and served with an unripe tomato and mushy, oily fries. From a beverage perspective, they had surprisingly interesting cocktails, but I was thrilled to see my favorite beer, Kane Head High, on tap. We simply loved the view, live acoustic tunes from P.D. Brody, and the overall relaxing atmosphere. However, we felt that the food could have been better executed. The menu offered all kinds of seafood and higher-end bar food, but the preparation left something to be desired.
